How come Nightmare went from fat goop man (janitor era) to tall less goopy man (king era)

Did he just get a big bucket and scooped some out and threw it out a window or something. I'm. Genuinely curious.

nightmare's gooey body changes depending on his mental health/emotions. the worst his psychy gets the more drippy and slimy his body becomes. and vice-versa, the goo solidifies and no longer melts when he's okay. u get the idea.

but it's also a visual signifier for how much control he has. the more he looses control over a situation, the more he looses control over his body, and he starts melting.

those metaphors are interchangeable, because of course it makes sense that the less amount of control he'd have, the more he's gonna freak out and the more he'll start melting.

in his king era his body is the most stable and least gooey cuz he's at the top of his game, he's literally king! but before when he was a janitor he was melty and slimy and leaves goo everywhere cuz he couldn't be more down on his luck.

when it comes to how he changed body type so drastically. tbh I didn't think much about it lolz. u can see that there isn't much cohesion between his designs.

he goes from small and very round in his janitor era. then to tall and egg shaped with freakishly long limbs in his jester era. then ends with a normal sorta body type in his king era.
