Hannigram beating Johnlock on the most iconic yaoi couples poll on Twitter is like. okay on one hand. I don't think hannigram is 'more iconic' but I do think that they're better in every single regard including being actually fucking canon lmao

#I would argue that Hannibal as a character is just as iconic as Sherlock in the public sphere #but the ship used to be a little bit more niche #especially before the NBC show came out #and even once it did like yes it was popular but I don't think it ever was as popular as Johnlock was at its height ( 2013? )#I think hannigram had a resurgence over the past few years because it was on streaming platforms and people started talking about it again #tho idk I guess this is all relative to my experience on Tumblr or whatever #for references sake I was always 100% a Hannibal Fangirl #and was aware of BBC Sherlock because I was on Tumblr during its Glory Days but was never really IN that fandom #it's kind of amusing to see NBC Hannibal move from like a niche kind of weird show on the fringes of fandom #to being acknowledged as a genuinely excellent piece of work as well as deeply romantic and canonically queer #unlike a lot of other popular shows from the 2010s #ANYWAYS this is all over a Twitter poll so it's like completely irrelevant either way #it's not surprising to me at all that hannigram is more popular than Johnlock is these days
