Prev tags. These arent all true for me as well, but I agree completely
an internal memo leaked from ceo steve huffman saying the "noise" of the blackout will die out and they just need to weather it until we give up. fuck you spez.
first of all it's OVER EIGHT THOUSAND subreddits that went dark.
second of all he clearly doesn't give one single shit about the users or the UNPAID army of mods who slog through a million miles of shit every day to keep illegal and offensive content off the site (i'm a mod in a small fandom subreddit and even the shit i've seen is beyond the pale) and therefore make it appealing to the advertizers.
you have no fucking business without us. and you don't care one single bit about it.
he clearly did not mean for this memo to leak, but someone at reddit thought it was important enough to send it out anyway. please spread it (spreddit?) especially because so much of reddit is still in blackout.
#this thing that pisses me off about all of this#not just reddit but like also the strikes and union busting and just all of this late stage capitalism#is that we could have had successful business model#like I think it's proven that you can have a company that still grows and makes revenue#and also pays its workers fair wages and healthcare insurance#it's just that the executies would not be making as big of a revenue#they would only grow a little and would not get millions but only say thousands#it's the greed#it's the insane greed that these rich fucks have#I cannot imagine being this greedy#I am paid poorly#but because I have quite good rent#and don't have any big spending and don't drink or smoke#I still have some money left over#which I usually give to some charity#I cannot imagine what I would do if I would make double the money I make now#(which honestly would be just a bit over national average)#but to have 10x 100x more?#that's just insane#I would just idk give it away#like who needs this much money#it's just so ridiculous#and like you know we could have had it all#successful businesses with its employes happy#and instead we've got shitty companies#and everyone happy#and people desperately trying to make a living
