#it's just me wanting leosaya content

Nobody asked me, but now that I've finished the main story of both Danganronpa games (Let's Plays, anyway, I'm going to play myself now), here are the thoughts running through my head. This post will be for the first game, I'll make another post for the second one.

(spoilers under the cut: I know the games have been out for a while but still):

1. It took me a LONG time to finish the first game after the first execution. I really liked Leon and not just because his design reminded me of Kirishima from MHA. I felt really bad about the situation he was in, even if, you know, he still killed Sayaka, his death was Brutal. I stopped watching for a few months because it haunted me, until my sister encouraged me to keep going because she wanted to talk to someone about it.

2. On that note, WHY, of all the available classmates, did Sayaka pick Leon as her potential victim? Why, if your goal was to kill, would you pick one of the Ultimate athletes? I feel like she would have had far more success if she'd chosen Hifumi or even Chihiro (sorry bb, I love you). Is there a lore reason behind it?

3. All that said, I am unfortunately interested in Leosaya content for the dramatic irony and tragedy of it, so if anyone has suggestions, let me know, and I also want to see Leon and Ibuki being best buds because she left her music group to pursue her actual creative dreams and Leon hated baseball and wanted to pursue dreams of being a musician and I can see them teaming up to be in a weird-ass band together. Someone direct me to any Leon and Ibuki platonic (or romantic, I'm down) content.

4. I think Leon is gaining blorbo status for me, but not as much as some other characters from the second game, but this is in no coherent order so bear with me, and also keep in mind, I have yet to play through all his possible dialogue in the School Mode version of the game so this is liable to change.

5. I went from waiting eagerly for Byakuya to die to being devastated that he died in the second game to REALLY HAPPY that that apparently wasn't even him (though I do like the Imposter & would like to know more about them). AND THEN to being so excited that he's apparently in a power throuple with Kyoko and Makoto, OT3s FOR THE WIN!!!!

6. Hina and Sakura were really sweet, and I Loooooove how protective Hina was, because yeah, the whole point of the fourth case was she underestimated Sakura's strength, but I also think Sakura deserved to be protected. Just because she's strong doesn't mean she didn't deserve people defending her.

7. On that note, ya'll, when I didn't know what to expect from this game, I legit thought somehow Mondo and Taka were going to die in that sauna. My stomach was in knots over it. Then they just. Were bros. And I was confused but on board with them (platonically AND romantically) and then the second case devastated me and not just because I had to watch Taka be Sad for so long.

5. I feel...so bad about the whole case with Mondo and Chihiro. They were BUDDIES. I know the whole point of the story is that people betray each other but God, imagine the "motive" you were given wasn't so much a motive as it was a fucking PTSD break and it lead to you killing someone that you were not only cool with, but who admired you for qualities you didn't feel worthy of, just FUCK--

6. If you let yourself stop and think of the Everything about these games and the stories, it really fucks you up, let me live in No Despair Land where everyone's friends with each other and there's no murder--

7. Also, the whole thing with Junko. I remember, before I took a break after Leon's execution, vaguely wondering about her last words? But it was a fleeting thought that didn't lead to anything, AND THEN IT CAME BACK AROUND??? So holy shit, that was cool.

8. Gotta say, as frustrating as a lot of repetitive stuff in the game got, I understood why it was needed for the case solving portion. As some of you can tell from my Clone Wars series with sweetiepie08, I LOVE mystery solving stuff when it's done right, and even if some of them are So SO convoluted, it's satisfying to see how they fall together.

9. The VAs in these games are fucking awesome. Even if some of the shit they had to say was ridiculous (which is par the course if that's your job), they did so damn good.

10. YA'LL, I legit thought Makoto was about to be executed, so when Alter Ego suddenly showed up and saved him, I shrieked, and then KYOKO found him, and I know a lot didn't happen after that except a shit ton of exposition, but I was so psyched.

11. *sigh* I don't know what the public opinion is of Toko, but she drove me insane with the debilitating inferiority complex. And then the Genocide Jack/Jill thing happened and I mean, at least she was...slightly more interesting with that, but still, I think Toko was somehow my least favorite out of the whole gang, next to Hifumi. I also would not have predicted that she'd be one of the final survivors.

12. I legit thought Hiro was going to snap at one point after his long period of denial at the beginning. I thought he'd snap and kill someone or get killed, so when he survived until the end, I was very surprised.

13. Tbh, I did not predict the endgame survivors for either Danganronpa. I think literally all I would have gotten right was Makoto, Kyoko, and Hajime. Everyone else was quite a surprise to me.

14. Not to compare another Danganronpa character to MHA, but I was super fond of Taka right off the bat because he's so Tenya coded, those two are definitely cousins or something.

15. Someone add onto my agenda of doing a Danganronpa x MHA fusion somehow, I'll make thoughts on another post.

16. I really loved Kyoko's dynamic with Makoto, idk why, and I just fucking love Kyoko in general, she's so cool. Sherlock Holmes, step aside.

I love Naezono a lot, but people always tell me to look at the picture of class 78th of Leon with his arm on Sayaka, what's your opinion on it?

I've seen that, of course. It's a picture of Class 78's past, and like all the other ones it's like an ink blot. Why? Because we have no data on them beyond it's real, and it was taken during Class 78's school days. So, if you yourself see a LeoSaya moment, I can't exactly disprove it. Just like others wouldn't be able to disprove Naezono from these vague pictures alone; as I said, they're much like ink blots. They're exactly as you see them.

If you genuinely want "my" take, I don't see it as hardcore LeoSaya proof. And about the only reason I myself feel that is because it's not like the other pictures necessarily hint that. If we're going off of these pictures alone as any proof of possible relationships (which I think is a stretch because we're just engaging in speculation and preference, there isn't good, concrete objectivity), Leon isn't near Sayaka a whole lot. Pool photo? He's splashing Junko, and Sayaka's on the poolside with Kyoko (Makoto possibly approaching them mid-photo, but again not for certain); the track photo, all three of them are racing with Hifumi, and both Makoto and Leon seem exhausted whereas Sayaka is much more composed and fit (Makoto about to get reckt by Sakura, at least I thought so. XD); the other classroom photo, she and Makoto are close together while Hina shares donuts with them, while Leon is in front of the class, flashing some gangsta sign (or y'know, just goofing off); and the fourth photo, Makoto and Sayaka are building a snowman with Byakuya, Aoi, and Sakura, while Leon's having a snowball fight with the other guys. Also, the two photos you saw earlier in the game don't show concrete proof of any ship for Leon or Sayaka, just them goofing around with Mondo and Chihiro, and Hifumi and Celes respectively.

So, if we go off these photos alone as any possible narrative, for me at least I see more potential of Makoto and Sayaka being close. The one shot with Leon next to Sayaka doesn't have additional content in any of the other fragments of the past; that can be taken two different ways, 1. Sayaka's hiding her relationship with Leon (idol career and all) or she's just not together with him yet in the other photos (remember, these are ink blots, we don't know the order these were taken in, much less the actual relationships pictured), or 2. It's just Leon and/or Sayaka (I'm personally leaning towards just Leon) being a tease to Makoto, who's taking that particular picture (probably), or he's just trying to be close to Sayaka while he can. These photos are just for our imaginations; and if you want my take, I think Makoto and Sayaka have more of a consistency of being close in the fragments of the past we saw, she's even pretty chirpy/bright-eyed with the photo-taker on that one (so it's equal potential for Naezono, but I can concede that's less concrete than what we see physically pictured. Though because we don't see another moment like that in the other photos, and there's only one possible arrangement where . this one was taken last.... I myself prefer the Naezono possibilities. That's just my take, like you wanted. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

danganronpa for the fandom ask thingy?

I just realized I meant to answer this earlier but it was late and then had work!

Anyway favs, I’m gonna try to stick to THH but I cheated ngl:

Blorbo (absolute fav): I really wanna say Taka bc he’s been my fav since I was in high school, I love him so much and will love him forever (a big part of the reason just being that I related to him a lot, I was like, high perfectionist and my feelings were always kinda hurt when ppl said they didn’t like him bc he was too sensitive or was a crybaby bc I I’ve always been a HUGE crybaby) but ngl the real estate in my head lately has been going a lot more to other characters like Sayaka and Mukuro. He’s still THEE character of all time tho.

Scrunkly (my baby): I wanna say Taka again but also Chihiro for sure? Chihiro’s just a sweetheart I love her

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/under-appreciated fav): probably Leon! A lot of ppl forget abt him since he’s a ch 1 death & u don’t rly get to know him but he’s great, actually! I used to rly write him off but I actually think he’s really interesting and nuanced! I get that bc the game doesn’t incentivize you to get to know him a lot of ppl just write him off as like oh he’s just like a womanizer and a loser (or lump him in with like—canonical dork ass loser full on CREEPS when he’s like, kinda just a regular ass guy?) but the way his character is actually a really compelling foil for Sayaka is really really interesting to me. Also, ppl are just, weird abt his trauma & im defensive abt him because of my own reasons & I’ll just leave it at that.

glup shitto (obscure fav): a lot of ppl would probably disagree on whether this even counts bc she gets more content later on. But Mukuro. Like, Mukuro FOR SURE, I love her so much. even the content we do get it’s relatively sparse in comparison to the others so when she shows up I get SO excited, I’ve been wanting real sprites of her not in disguise forever & it just never happens :((((. Also this technically doesn’t count bc it’s sdr2 but imposter, I love them sm….

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Haha depending on what this means probably either Hagakure or Sayaka. Sayaka is definitely more on the “problematic” side as opposed to pathetic. like I don’t think she is at least not any more than the rest of the characters but I do think ppl are like, weird abt her more than normal. She’s a mess but like. She’s my mess. Absolute beloved. But Hagakure is THEE poor little meow meow of all time I love him sm he’s so pathetic and offputting and in canon his personality does kinda suck but I love that he sucks, I can’t help it. He wants makoto’s organs and I’d let him have them. I just think he’s the funniest little guy ever. And ppl hate him for being useless and never contributing anything but I’m a Hagakure apologist so sucks to suck everyone who wishes he didn’t survive, if Hagakure sucks why does he keep winning lol

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): probably Togami. I just love to put him Through It bc he sucks but he sucks in a way I find hilarious. I bully him but I mostly just bully him with love. Leon is another character too I tend to horse plinko the shit out of not necessarily for the same reason as Togami (aka thinking he deserves some lighthearted chirping from his classmates to build moral character and humble him a little), like Leon I don’t have a reason why I’m mean to him. There’s nothing wrong w him I just think it’s funny when he’s sad. I’m the number one fan of the LeoSaya high profile miserable celebrity couple to sad pathetic divorcees pipeline for them. I am championing sad divorcee Leon so hard, the inner Junko in me comes out so much when I think abt him bc I just think his quarter life crisis would have been so funny, I’m so disappointed Junko didn’t draw things out longer bc I think she could’ve gotten way more long term misery out of everyone if she’d kept them alive

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): listen. I try to be nice abt him bc I rly don’t like that as a franchise DR is super weird abt how it characterizes fat ppl (like the only one who isn’t creepy is imposter & even then they make a lot of fat jokes abt them :///) & if asked I do think Teruteru is worse (even tho I like his design a lot) but. Hifumi is just. He just. Ugh. But this feels really extreme, I don’t hate him he’s just distasteful. My real more childish answer is Celeste tho, like I do like her but I’m also mean and petty and I mostly blame her for chapter 3 regarding Death Of A Fav, even tho it was a team effort lol. I’m petty. I know a lot of ppl like her, she’s cool she’s interesting but ch 3 is always what’s kept me from liking her. The Taka stan only recognizes her as the enemy I’m sorry. If I’m allowed to say characters from sdr2 then like. Saoinji or Teruteru tho. I swear I try to be measured and not too irrationally just vitriolic abt them esp saoinji bc like I get it, I get what she’s about but I can’t help myself she’s just so grating. Or the monokubs. Bc jfc.
