deleted yesterday's posts about it but my research can be summarised as:
- for some reason (either to make space for ads or possibly to play on EU/UK televisions) the streaming leverage episodes I have access to on IMDBTV/amazon prime are very slightly sped up and thus a few minutes shorter
- (and slightly higher pitched, it's subtle but strange)
- on top of S1 being predictably out of order (airing order, not DVD order), the pilot IS the heavily edited and significantly shorter version
- the scene that replaces the hospital sequence is maybe five seconds long and IMO not a worthy replacement for the trust building and cleverness the hospital sequence displays; I feel much less cheated for previously not even knowing it existed
- the shorter pilot is also missing "count the haircuts, parker," sophie rappelling, nate smashing car windows, and (I think) so many small fragments of scenes that the whole thing felt odd and rushed to me. at least it's the pilot and it's sort of expected to be a bit rough.
- there's also something somehow wrong about some of the music near the end but I have no clue what they did to cause that.
(in my defence, "maybe the episodes are slightly sped up and that's why they're shorter" was my joke theory, my pet harmless conspiracy theory when I was trying to figure out what the different episode lengths were about, that suddenly turned real when I started squinting at character voices and did a quick search about it. I never expected it to be right.)
#like this sure was a whole mystery that didn't need solving#may this serve as a rough review of the shorter pilot for anyone curious I guess??#and a heads up that the longer version has more to it if you haven't managed to see it yet#leverage#the nigerian job#orig#for the record this started as me trying to figure out whether the streamable versions are complete so I can watch them with a friend#it's just a shame the pilot isn't gonna be so easy </3
