so I'd come up with this concept a long while ago but decided to post it here bc why not so here goes lol

Neil: Brown Golden Retriever

I really tried going off their colour, size, shape language, vibes and personality and all that, and Neil DEFFO has golden retriever energy but the darker colour helps him contrast with Todd and also is in reference to his life and looks more

Todd: Cream Labrador

Honestly I don't know what other dog to have put for Todd this is the best fit I think He is calm and chill like labs but also wouldn't hesitate to defend his friends and stand his ground :)

Chris: Samoyed

I really didn't wanna put Chris as a light (esp white) coloured dog bc of her connotations with light colours but 😭 It literally fits so well hskdhbfjhds she looks so pretty I couldn't not do it :") and also there's not many darker dogs that fit her vibe :( She can still accessorize in darker colours tho ofc ofc

Ginny: Blue Heeler

Nah C'MON this is SUCH a Ginny dog like the bluish blackish warmish greyish patterns on the fur is like exactly what I think she'd wear and the dark round patterns are reminiscent to her dark wavy hair :)

Dalton: Husky-Chi

This was the only one that made a little sense to me tbh 😭 I literally tried looking for so many types of small dogs but they all looked weird and unfitting and wrong so this is the best I got 💀 Also apparently their personalities are quite unpredictable and "mystic" which I think matches pretty well with her impulsive and creative sense

Knox: German Shepherd Hound Mix

This is such a Knox dog omg look at him he's got the same cowardly mopey doe eyed look the lil freak always has I love him I esp wanted a dog that would be of a bigger build but more quiet and kinda scared looking like Knox is, and I think it worked p well with the hound addition bc german shepherds are guard and fighting dogs and the mix totally subverting that threatening appearance fits pretty well with Knox's lack of interest in getting involved with trouble or scuffs Also he looks like he'd give good hugs which :))))))

Pitts: Husky

THAT IS LITERALLY A PITTS DOG C'MON LOOK AT MY BOY THAT IS HIM I LOVE HIM

Meeks: Orange Poodle

Meeks would always accompany you and chill out with you but also judge you to the ends of hell and back and I feel like this is the right dog to convey that through Also it has his curly ginger hair :)

Cameron: Finnish Spitz

Who's a good pretty little bitch boy? You are yeah. Now THAT'S a Cameron dog if I've ever seen one istg it's got the colour the cut the expressions and everything- also there's this title of an article I found hsjkhsdjhfbjt-

girl i was looking up different husky mixes and i started tearing up because they are so cute🥺🥺

first we have the husky german shepherd mix🥺

then we have the husky pitbull mix🥺

next is a husky lab mix🥺

and lastly we have a husky golden retriever mix and when i tell you i cried i started crying🥺

they are sooo cuteee🥺🥺

Top 5 dog breeds

omg golden retrievers, huskies, german shepherds, yellow lab, and i have a pug so pugs! but i prefer big dogs!

I feel the same way about dogs. The mixed breeds we’ve had lived full healthy, hardly any issues lives. But our full blood lab had hip dysphasia (think that’s how it’s spelled) & eventually couldn’t walk. We had to carry her—90 lbs— down the stairs and outside to go to the bathroom. And all I’ve ever heard about golden ret. is that they are prone to cancer. Our vet actually advised us on not getting one bc he saw so many Golden’s come in with cancer at an early age. And omg your dogs sound ☺️☺️

yeah our last pure bred was a miniature pinscher and he had heart problems and seizures and he was like my best friend for most of my life so it’s kinda put me off of pure breds bc it’s just extremely sad watching them suffer like that. All dogs get old and stuff but mixed breeds just do better health wise. Since my dogs are mixed with husky, they don’t really have the hips issues german shepherds also have. we had a german shephard who had hip dysplasia too when i was really young. so like i love those breeds but I’d rather have mixed bc i don’t want to go through that again. And just all of the dogs we’ve had that are mixed/mutts have been healthy and just died from old age pretty much. 

but yes okay enough sad dog stuff lol

Your dreams:

I just want to write some meaningful words that resonate with people across all ages through poetry, short stories, and children's books. Even if it means I have to work some mindless day-job forever, I would be content as long as I can pay my bills and share my writing, but I would love to be able to teach writing workshops at a university someday. I want to be able to live in a modest, little house eventually with the love of my life, my rescue pets, and maybe eventually a kid or two, however that could come about. Maybe there's an apple tree in the backyard and some pretty flowers, but there is at least enough room to have summer picnics with friends and family while my dog(s) run around. Even if we don't have a lot of money, my wife, kid(s), my pets, and I always feel loved, heard, and safe in our home.

Your opinion on not labeling your sexuality:

When someone doesn't label their sexuality in real life, whatever, you do you. When someone doesn't label their sexuality in TV shows or movies, I hate it ngl, it just seems like such a cop out and a way to avoid talking about specific LGBTQ+ issues.

Omg how can I ever choose!!!! Okay, in no particular order, golden retrievers, pomeranians, labs, German shepherds, and either pugs or great Danes but honestly every dog I dont discriminate lol

Kylo blamed Poe for this. 

The Air Force vet ran the bookstore that Rey loved. He was also handsome, charming, and a cat owner. Said cat was a fluffy calico named Bebe. 

Kylo loathed that cat, and that cat loathed him. He tried to scratch behind her ears once and she hissed and nipped his hand before sprinting away. Whenever Bebe saw him, she’d narrow her eyes and snarl. Kylo did the same. 

Naturally Rey had fallen in love with Bebe, and would coo over her every time she dropped by Poe’s shop. 

And now - a year and a half into dating and three months into living together - Rey was walking into his brownstone, covered in cat hair, and saying that they should adopt a pet. 

He loved his girlfriend. Really he did. But he drew the line at fucking cats.

He told her as much. She countered that they could get a dog. Kylo was between jobs and she was doing her master’s part time, so it made sense to get one now, since they’d be home more often. 

“I am not house training a puppy,” he groused on the drive to the shelter. 

“We’re not adopting a puppy,” Rey said, looking at the shelter’s website on her phone. “I think we should get a lab mix. They’re good for first time owners...ooh, they have a border collie, let’s -”

Nope. Kylo had done his research - with no job to wake up at ass-o-clock for and a very nice severance package (and therefore no rush to go back to the workforce) he’d had more than enough time to check the dogs available at the shelter and cross-reference any breed traits. 

“You just went from “good for first time owners” to “border collie,”"he pointed out. 

“And you went from “no fucking dogs in my house” to driving me to the shelter,” Rey replied, booping him on the nose as he parked. “You’ll love it! You grew up with a dog -”

“A dog my mother loved more than me, I suspect.” 

Rey rolled her eyes. “Whatever you say, big guy.” 

He so totally blamed Poe for this.

“I want to take them all home,” Rey declared as they entered the kennel. Kylo scrunched his nose at the overwhelming smell of wet dog.

There was a family in there, also looking. Most of the dogs were terriers or bully breeds. Kylo was surprised to see a senior golden retriever there - but his surprised faded when he saw the “ADOPTED”  sign over her name.

“Kylo! I found the perfect one!” Rey was crouched down, fingers shoved through the gap in the chain-link fence, stroking a brown and white dog’s muzzle. The dog, for its part, seemed ecstatic - it’s tail was wagging ferociously and its barking was, blessedly, at a minimum. 

“Read his bio,” Rey said. “He seems perfect. We need to go to a breakout room with him, I think I love him already.” 

The bio read: Hi! My name is Chase. I’m a five-year-old neutered male Brittany spaniel-German Shepherd mix. I’m great with other dogs, up-to-date on my vaccines, and housebroken. I know basic commands and walk well on a leash, but I jump up on couches. My owner gave me up because she moved to a nursing home. I’d make a cuddly and playful addition to your home!

Kylo knelt down next to Rey and pushed two fingers through the fence, scratched his ear. “He seems friendly,” he said. 

Okay, so he already loved the pup almost as much as Rey did, but he didn’t want her to say “I told you so.” 

They took Chase home the next day and spent no less than two hours playing frisbee at the local dog park. 

And Rey got to say “I told you so.”
