one of my favorite bits i do currently is speaking in swiss german or my local dialect to my friends who aren't from my region
#it's funny how easily people whose dialects do not differ much from high german have no idea what youre talking about anymore#i also have the running theory that people who grew up in a dialect heavy region are better at speaking foreign languages accent-free#(or like without a cliché accent from their first language)#because they are used to turning dialect patterns off when speaking#like i thought the 'german accent' wasn't actually a thing in the real world but then i heard how people from a region with less pronounced#dialect speak english and i was like wow you sound like a cartoon character#anyways i speak extra slow swiss german and my friends get soooo annoyed it's hilarious
