like i've said this before somewhere but as much as aizawa is obviously a good teacher and a teacher first he literally said so HIMSELF that the situation with the kids is not normal at all. we literally got confirmation last chapter (#spoilers w/e) that they should have typically gotten a new home room teacher for their second year but he's following because he needs to. for so many reasons. to claim that aizawa feels absolutely nothing for the kids or vice versa is absolutely fucking bizarre i feel like the pushback against people who create a nuclear found family in every fanon situation is in itself going too far in the other direction and ppl are just cutting everything off at the root for no reason... there can be middle ground here...
i think aizawa being a fantastic teacher and mentor conceptually extending itself into a more familiarised and casual territory due to the high stress abnormal situations these kids are in beyond the norm for just going to child soldier supercop school (as in they quite literally fought in a war and have nearly died dozens of times and well. you know...) is not only a nice place for people to have fun in a proverbial sandbox but incredibly like realistic. i don't think he is actually anyone's dad but acting like he can't care for the kids (which is again fucking BIZARRE when about 70% of his character is "cares for these damn kids and will do anything to protect and help them") leads to a miserable world where one of the only actual competent basically normal adult figures in their lives is just going to be like Yeah actually you're on your own.
like i get when people approach this with the lens of aizawa being a literal teacher ie following certain rules and keeping distance etc but i feel like some people let that cloud their vision and forget that he is Not actually just their teacher and you can't compare everything 1:1 to the real world. he is a hero. and he is teaching them to be heroes. he's not teaching them math or something this is an atypical setting and they are in atypical situations on top of it i think that allows a bit of leeway for their mentor/mentee teacher/student type bonds being different. i know it's silly shounen so it's going to be normal until it's not but traumatic stressful insane situations do in fact draw people closer and create unique relationships and i just think aizawa and 2a/aizawa and shinsou in particular have a unique relationship which has literally been acknowledged By the text. someone joking about him buying them burgers is NOT the end of the world i fear
