crazy how zangetsu and orihime are literally the same
#as usual: EBTR -> the blade is me is one of tybw's strongest story transitions and i still maintain that#but it does strike me how much OMZ didn't want ichigo to get hurt - even to the point of resisting ichigo's becoming a shinigami#which was orihime's thought process before/during the 17-month timeskip too#but ichigo has war in his blood and i think that's something both of them have realized#and they both lend him their powers in their own ways#it's fascinating how she 'fixes' zangetsu because ichigo is very good at recognizing intent when he comes across another user's powers#and he must have sensed that - like zangetsu - she only harbors thoughts of protecting him while he wants to protect everything else#for ichigo to have his wife and his sword represent the same sentiments....damn. i can't imagine how safe he must feel#zangetsu has always represented safety and security to him but orihime has only recently fully become a battle partner#and this development just scratches my brain in ways that will definitely go into a WIP i'd been keeping on the backburner#if i can give tybw credit it's that it made me want to go back to that fic#bee's tybw liveblog
