Yes OBVIOUSLY I am still thinking about this (who the fuck did you think I was) and the thing is, it's quite possible this was already a matter of theory and dogma in the Dynasty. In 97, Essek specifies, "there are so many mysteries, around the beacons, around dunamis, what it's capable of," and I would presume from that that the precise nature of it was not known, nor was it something that had been honed in upon enough in research and study to be considered much more than a matter of spiritual doctrine.

But Caleb describes the foundational aspect of dunamis and the amount of time it's been around with a lot of firmness, especially considering Caleb in particular has no use for gods nor was he raised in an environment that might make him more sympathetic toward giving religious views any weight even as a basis for rebuttal. It would be very easy for the Dynasty to make this claim as a matter of dogma, and given how Essek has, even in disdain, reflected religious views in the Dynasty fairly evenly when describing them, it would not have the same effect coming from him.

Knowing that this description is from Caleb's mouth (and that he very narrowly convinces himself not to give a full lecture on this, meaning he does have a full lecture on it), means that it's probably a piece of information that he's been studying at length and has put research and observation in to narrow in upon.

It took me like two hours to process that Caleb's description of dunamis actually was somewhat new information and then go back to grab the transcription because, uh, both "form of magic that exists between the fabric of all of forces of power" and "one of the oldest and most fundamental forces" are far more confidently firm descriptions than we ever got in campaign 2.

Was I actually roughly correct about what dunamis was??? HELLO???

So I was one who did not enjoy the bad characterization and useless sidelined plots in the Las Jedi so I rewrote it. Sorry about the grammar mistakes and choppy writing. In this version Finn and Poe go on a successful side quest, Rose is awesome on her own, Rey does not forgive Kylo’s murder/abuse, and Luke did not try to kill Kylo because that was so out of character.

 Poe follows Leia’s orders in the beginning and orders everyone to pull back but Paige Tico disobeys and is like no we can do this we have to take out this dreadnaught! Poe keeps ordering her back but she continues and succeeds but ends up dying. Back in the hangar Leia confronts Poe in a tough love kinda way— you did your job it’s a tragedy but it can’t get in the way of you continuing your job. Then she’s like also your ‘friend’ woke up and is in med bay getting a physical. Poe’s eyes go all wide and he smiles and turns and runs down the hallway towards medbay with bb8 right behind him, running right past Rose Tico. Rose is wandering around trying to find her sister, then Leia approaches and is like you’re Paige Tico’s sister? You work with the pipes? And she’s like yes. And Leia gets a sad look on her fav and is like I have some news for you. Cut scene to Poe running into med bay and Finn looking up and they’re both grinning and so happy and they hug and Poe’s like I’m so glad you’re awake!! And Finn is all Poe it’s so good to see you!! Also where’s Rey?! So then Poe fills him in on the deets as they jump to light speed and the scene cuts to Rey. Also bb8 is obviously making little happy burbly noises cuz Poe and Finn are so happy. Then on the island with Luke, Rey hands him the family lightsaber and he takes it and then looks up at her and she’s like Leia sent me in from the resistance we need help we need you and Luke looks all said and is like I’m not the man you were sent to find and cradles the lightsaber and walks away to his hut. Rey is like the fuck?? And doesn’t know what to do. Chewie sees all this go down and follows Rey who is following Luke. Confrontation at the hut door!!! Luke hasn’t seen chewie in decades and gives him a giant smile and a hug and for a second looks like young and hopeful Luke. Then it sinks in where is Han?? He asks they tell him and you see his reaction and then Rey is like this is why we need your help. And he’s like no! I can’t it’s my fault and I’ll just make it worse! The resistance is better off without me. He goes inside and closes the door. Chewie and Rey look at each other confused and sad. Cut scene back to resistance where they were stalked through space. Leia and entourage are blasted into space and the camera pans around the floating frozen bodies showing commanders like admiral ackbar who has been around from the beginning before focusing on Leia who obviously wakes up and force pushes herself through space. Finn and Poe see this and run to let her inside. Holdo takes over as commander and refuses to tell people shit. Finn realizes they’re going to run out of fuel and die and he needs to save Rey by being her beacon so he starts packing but is interrupted by... Poe! Who is like wtf??? And Finn is like Rey has to survive! And Poe is like Finn we all do. Without us the galaxy is run by the first order. Children like you were once will be taken and turned into soldiers. And Finn is like yes ok you’re right. But we can’t save them by following holdo’s course of action. And then Finn is like omg Poe only the first ship tracks ships! And Poe is like you’re right we have to shut down the main ship you’re so clever babe ily. *I may have added that last bit with no thought to how it fits shut up.* so now Finn and Poe gots to get off the ship so they can jump ship and shut it down so they decide to use an escape pod cuz it’s small and won’t be tracked but they run into....a crying Rose!! Who’s like wtf you doing down here in the pipes and Finns like ummm nothing? And Poe is like ok so here’s what we’re doing. And Rose is like, my sister died not following orders! I can’t let you not follow orders! And you see Poe realize who she is and he’s like Rose I am so sorry. Your sister was my best bomber and the bravest person I know. Because of her sacrifice we still have a chance to survive. She took down a dreadnaught! If she didn’t we would be blasted out of the sky right now. And I know what we are doing is not listening to orders, but we need a better chance at survival. We need to save the resistance. And Rose is thinking and holding her necklace and then she’s like ok I can help you. Let me outfit your pod. And Finn is then like Rose? My friend is far away from here and I need you to watch this beacon for me in case I don’t come back. And Rose is like your friend? As in Rey??? And fangirls hard over Rey. She watches the beacon and has a communicator so Poe has eyes on ship. Cut scene to Rey. She’s meditating above the crashed xwing in the ocean. She turns to chewie and is like you told me luke was a Jedi Knight. That he had all this power. He could lift stuff as big as that ship with just his mind! But he’s just a broken old man. Chewie gives a sad grrr sound. Rey looks lost. How am I supposed to learn to control this power without him? Chewie gives an exasperated grrr sound and Rey is like that’s different! That was Jakku and flying and scrapping! I learned that because I needed to to survive! This is different it’s mystical and strange and it pulls me to it. Chewie is like grrr and shakes his head. Rey is like fine and reaches out with hand and force towards the xwing and concentrates. The xwing shifts slightly. She pushes some more. It rocks and then sinks. Luke is watching from behind. Rey sees it sink and is discouraged. See?! This power isn’t something I can use. Luke is standing behind her and is like that’s what I thought once when I was first being trained. Rey jumps up in surprise. She gestures to the xwing. I can’t do it. Luke is like yes you can. Turn around. Close your eyes. You have this power inside of you. It’s always been there. Now reach out and pull it up. She’s trying really hard. Behind her Luke puts out his hand and pulls the xwing out of the water. It hangs in the air and Rey is astonished and stops concentrating. Luke let’s it fall. She turns to to him. I did that?! I can do that!? Of course you can. He’s back to the angry grizzled old man now and turns around and begins to leave. Wait! You’ve got to help me. I don’t know where this power comes from. I don’t know what it is or how to control it. It’s pulling me in different directions. Luke’s face looks grim. Then he turns to her. I can’t help you. He starts to leave. Rey yells at him ‘what did he do to you?! Kylo Ren. What did he do to make you run and hide and leave your family behind? Luke says ‘it’s not what he did it’s what I did. I failed him. Rey is confused and is like I saw it. The ruins of your training temple. R2 and you climbing out of the burning rumble. He did that not you. Luke is shocked how did you see that?! The lightsaber when I picked it up it showed me things. Luke is all come with me. Cut scene to Poe and Finn!! So Poe and Finn use the escape pod to sneak about the big ship cuz it’s super tiny and no one notices cuz they’re focusing on the big ships. They steal stormtrooper uniforms obviously and begin to find the shut down area. I’m a little hazy on this part forgive me. Snoke senses this intrusion and sends Kylo to go find out what it is. Cut scene to rose talking with a bunch of her friends who are all worried cuz the med ship just ran out of fuel and they are losing fuel and people. Rose is holding her necklace with one hand. She looks down at the beacon around her neck and volunteers to go to Holdo and ask what’s going on. Holdo denied her request because she is a commander. Rose is uber worried. Holdo begins evacs. Rose is more worried. She says my sister didn’t follow orders and she saved lives. She begins plotting a mutiny. Cut to Luke and Rey sitting around a fire with the lightsaber. Luke holds it out. Feel the connection to this. Rey reaches out with the force. I can’t there’s nothing there. Luke puts her hand on one side of the saber, his hand on the other. Flashbacks!!! You see Luke in a holographic convo with Leia. ‘It’s too late. He’s already turned. He’s failed.’ Kylo Ren is listening in and his face changes. It turns bitter and angry and he storms off. Luke finishes ‘I’ve failed. I don’t know how to help him.’ Leia assures him he knows what’s best. He turned Vader back. He can keep Kylo from turning. But it’s too late without Luke’s faith in him Kylo goes full Kylo. Luke goes to talk to him, to reassure him that it’s ok everyone slips even anikin savior of the galaxy was tempted and turned but the light is already there. But Kylo is ready for him! He yells at him for never believing in him, pulls the house down and catches shit on fire. Luke pulls himself out of the wreckage and goes looking for any survivors. You recognize his face now. It’s the old and bitter face Rey recognizes. But wait! What’s that?! A survivor!!! A small girl is unconscious under burning wreckage! Luke pulls her out crying, holding her and rocking her. Someone survived. But not completely. She doesn’t remember. Her head wound doesn’t allow it. And Kylo realizes Luke survives. He gives the girl to Leia and Han. And tells them Kylo will hunt her too. Then he spreads map pieces all throughout the galaxy so Kylo will hunt those and him instead of the girl. The girl must be sent away though. But she’s out daughter Han says. I know but it’s for her own safety says Leia always the pragmatic. Han nods in agreement but his face speaks of unhappiness. He gives her to Lando. Lando promises to raise her to be a scoundrel like his father, punches Han on the shoulder and walks out. Lando takes the girl and there’s a sweet scene of him doing her hair in three pony tails ‘there, hair like your mom’ then his ship lurches. What?? It’s a first order ship! No! Lando puts the girl in an escape pod with a pilot doll and releases the pod. He engages with the ship until he decides to run into the front end of it. Both ships explode. The escape pod is picked up by a slave trader who sells Rey to Jakku. Her first memory that she has when her head wound recovers is not her parents leaving, it’s the slave ship leaving. Rey looks up at Luke crying. Luke is crying as well. He reaches up and touches her cheek. Rey? It’s you? I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I thought I was keeping you safe. They hug. It’s ok. I was safe. And somehow I was brought back to Han and Leia and you. Scene pan out. And cut. Finn and Poe are being hunted but do not know it. They successfully find the shut off area and begin to shut down the tracker. Rose has a successful mutiny. But Leia wakes up! She blasts open the door and basically asks wtf?! Holdo is like disrespect is happening. Rose manages to explain about Finn/Poe. Leia turns to Holdo and Holdo is like they are jeopardizing our escape. Leia is like no. They are giving the people hope. Rebellions have always relied on hope. We do not keep people in the dark. We follow the light. Rose are they almost done? Rose tried the communicator. Static. Tried again. Nothing. Looks up in worry. Cut to Luke and Rey! Rey is like we must go back! Kylo failed you, you didn’t fail Kylo. And I will not fail you. Luke looks at her I know you will not fail, but I cannot watch him die. Rey understands. Luke hands her the lightsaber and she leaves to confront Kylo and tell him to fuck off. Force ghost anikin shows up. You know Luke she is your family. Luke turns yes but so is he. Anikin shakes his head. He made his decision of free will. Obi wan joins anikin. You know Luke she has a lot of Leia in her. Luke agrees. But she may still need your help. Luke frowns it’s too late she’s already gone. Yoda pops into this force ghost reunion. Always looking at the past never the future you are! He points to the xwing. Do or not! Luke stands up straight and fucking pulls that goddamn ship out of the fucking water standing next to his three teachers. Rey gets on the ship using the escape pod. Kylo it is shown has Poe and Finn. So you thought you could just sneak in here and save them?! You thought wrong. And now I have you and she will follow you to save them. Cut to rose and Leia. We have to use holdo’s plan. They aren’t responding. They begin loading transports and launching them. Cut back to Rey. She senses a great evil and goes towards it. It’s not Kylo it’s Snoke. Snoke summons Kylo. Finn and Poe escape and continue their plan, but fucking hux has realized the evacuation that’s happening. Cut. Holdo is like I made this mess, I will fix it. I can buy time by using this ship as a battering ram. Leia is like no that will do nothing but stall them and destroy the last ship capable of shooting anything that we have. We have to trust Finn and Poe. Turn the ship long ways to act as a shield for the transports because our shields are still operational. Rose says ‘I have a bad feeling about this. Kylo and Rey are facing each other. Snoke is like this is the girl you let go. Your sister. Kylo is like she’s not my sister. The past must die. Fucking lightsaber battle!!! Rey gets thrown across the room and her lightsaber falls inbetween them. Snoke is all evil and laughing and like she has Vader’s lightsaber! You couldn’t even succeed in reclaiming that! Kylo is kisses and lowers his lightsaber and reaches out with his hand to force pull it to him. Rey tries as well. The lightsaber hangs between them. Cuts to Finn and Poe successful in their job. They call rose. It’s done! Light speed it up. Leia picks up instead of rose. Well done now get a ship and follow us. They look at each other. Finn asks you know how to fly a tie fighter? They both share a smile and a laugh as Poe says I can fly anything! Then they run out to steal a ship. Leia gives the order to pick up the transports and light speed it up. But before completing her order she turns to rose. You give the order. You deserve it. Rose’s eyes get all wide and she gives the order. Back to lightsaber tug of war.  Kylo and Rey are force pulling the lightsaber but Rey lets him ’win’ and as the lightsaber shoots in his direction and his face turns into a smug ass grin she force toggles the button and the blue lightsaber turns on and fucking stabs him in his smug ass face. She then force pulls it back to her. After she force pulls it out of kylos head back into her hand Snoke captures her in a force grip. So you think you can just kill my apprentice and then me?? I’m from before the first order, before the empire, before Palpatine! I have always been here and someone like you will not stop me! Suddenly a fucking red person gets flung across the room and at Snoke causing him to drop Rey. It’s Luke!! Looking like a badass in black robes! Run Rey! He pulls out his own lightsaber and confronts Snoke and the red dudes. Rey is like I’m not leaving you!! And Luke is like I know. No one really leaves. Now run! And the red dudes attack! Rey runs! Straight into two stormtroopers??? Except one is holding her and saying her name?? It’s Finn! They hug! Family reunited! Poe introduces himself! Finn is all we need to get you and us off this ship! Rey is like I have a ride. Luke meanwhile is cutting down red dudes like no ones business until Snoke shocks him and he loses his footing. He falls next to kylos body with the giant smoking hole in his bitch ass face. He gets shocked again and grimaces then turns away from Kylo finally letting him go and looks instead to the door Rey left from and feels hope rise up in him. He smiles and before he can get shocked again, disappears as he becomes one with the force. Leia feels him go. You see her face. And then his force ghost steps up behind her and places his hand on her shoulder. We never really leave. She smiles and turns to him. Luke. It’s good to see you. They turn to look out the window. It’s her you know. Luke says. Rey is your daughter. Leia nods. I know. Finn, Poe, Rey, and chewie are all on the millennium falcon with Rey as pilot and chewie copilot and Poe geeking out because this is the millennium falcon! And Finn just grinning cuz he has his bff and he has his boyfriend all is good. Chewie patches them into the resistance fleet and rose picks up. This is Rey from the millennium falcon asking for coordinates! Rose is like Rey!! Omg. And then Finn and Poe are like Rose! And Rose is like follow the beacon home! And Rey uses her beacon and a path is lit up and she says hit it chewie and they blast off. Cut scene! End of movie! Movie credits roll!
