i'm finally expanding on that short story idea that i came up with in 2018!

(y'know the one about these two drones from different colonies that meet after their nunptial flights and spend the rest of their days together)

i’m gonna talk about this for a bit...

so the main characters’ lives are gonna be heavily based off ants :P

aight so, the whole purpose of a drone in a colony is to fertilise the virgin queens

so i guess the unsuccessful drones just idk die (and the drones that get the queens also die quickly so life just is kinda sad for the drone lol) 

and so we've got the two "ant" dudes who've both failed their nuptial flights and then they meet and decide to stick together til the end bc like

"what're we gonna do? we're gonna die in like 3 (human) days."

but here's the thing, they're thematic opposites: 

one guy (named aster for now) is content with his current state of life and just wants to spend the rest of his days peacefully with nothing to worry about

while the other guy (named nobutoshi for now) wants to do all the things he canand wants to spend the remainder of his days as adventurously as possible :P

(funnily enough, the name aster sounds like the more wild guy and nobutoshi sounds like the more humble guy xD)

and holy shit i should totally introduce a nihilist character! (idk who yet, but it’d make the protags really question their outlooks)

and we’re gonna explore the question: “what’s a life worth living?”

and we’ll explore how all of those outlooks have their good points and flaws
