Hello :] same anon from last post here about the phantom stuffs, just wanted to ask another thing.
So, I read about the terms for Kintype and Hearttype but I'm still a bit confused about them since I don't understand the difference. I also saw Fictionflicker in the comments of the previous post too and I'd like to know more specifics about that since it sounds a bit like what I've been going through too.
On another note, I also want to try surrounding myself with things relating to my kin character to help me be more in touch with them but I don't have much to do that with (money and general items in my area relating to their aesthetic). What can I do?
Thanks for listening again and I hope you have a good day/noon/night as always :]
Hello again!
A kintype is your identity, while a hearttype is something you feel a deep connection with and may feel is part of your identity but not you exactly. Think of it as seeing a picture of yourself when you were younger vs seeing a picture of your best friend. Your friend may have helped shape who you are today but you are separate people. It can be confusing to figure out your identity as otherkin or fictionkin vs a hearttype because they can both feel very intense! But if you look into yourself and decide that something feels more like literally you than something that forever has a special place in your heart, then that is a kintype/fictotype.
Fictionflickering is feeling like a character is a fictotype or having intense feelings that feel similar to that but temporary. It mostly just happens after watching a movie/show for the first time and really connecting with a certain character, to the point you feel you might have developed a new fictotype- but the difference between this and a fictotype is that it only lasts typically a couple of weeks (from my experience at least). It feels more like a hyperfixation, really intense for a short time and then the feelings go away. Keep in mind that it's normal to have moments where you don't feel intensely like your kintype/fictotype! Fictionflickering is distinctly something that is very temporary, while a kintype will stay long-term and you may have days you feel it more intensely than others.
As for surrounding yourself with kin stuff- if you're crafty at all you could draw/paint your fictotype or scenes from your source, maybe pick up a frame from the thrift store to frame it! You could sew/crochet/knit (or even just use fabric glue instead of sewing) clothing they wear or make something from the character/their source with paper mache or foam (look up cosplay tutorials for that, it's easier than you might think). It doesn't have to be good, just as long as it makes you happy :)
Even if you don't have a printer you can print stuff out at your local library. You can dress as similarly as you can to your fictotype (similar colors/designs even if you don't have anything exactly the same), or make food they would eat.
That's all I can think of but I hope this helped! Good luck :)
