If you don’t mind me asking, what will be Rusl and Uli’s role in your adoption au?
I don't mind at all! I love talking about my AUs.
Rusl and Uli are Twilight's 'godparents'* in the Adoption AU. They're Malon and Time's neighbours, in the way farmers are neighbours in that there's a lot of space between the two properties.
Twilight and his brothers would walk or bike down to their place sometimes to hang out and get away from the house. Rusl encouraged the interest in weapons that Twilight and Wild got from Lullaby/Sheik and helped Twilight carve a sword for himself out of wood when he was younger, and then helped Wild when he was a bit older too. It's been a standing offer for the rest of the boys as well, though only a few took him up on it.
Colin is also in this AU as their son, and Twilight took the role of cousin-brother (sorta a cousin, sorta a big brother, somehow both but not solidly either). My Mom told me a funny story about building a house out of those big square hay bales, so Twilight has definitely done that with Colin and the rest of the Ordon kids at some point, maybe with the help of some of his brothers. I imagine Time was more annoyed than Rusl upon discovering the little mansion they'd made of hay.
They don't play a huge role in the overall plot this AU acquired, but they're important to the family as a pseudo-Uncle/Aunt pair. Twilight does call them 'Uncle Rusl' and 'Aunt Uli', and some of his brothers picked it up from him.
*I say godparents but Twilight was never baptised, or whatever equivalent I come up with. They made a joke about it once for if it ever happened (it will not), and then it stuck.
#atta answers#anon#adoption au#they really don't have a big role in the story i've ended up telling#but they're there and important family friends of malon and time#they babysat a lot when twi was small and lullaby/sheik and ruto were busy#the other ordon kids and their parents are also around#it's basically an idyllic/idealized version of the little rural town/community my parents grew up in#a lot of my writing these boys as farm kids is my retelling stories i heard from my parents#but yeah rusl and uli aren't going to show up a lot#but they're important to the family#and they're trustworthy (which is a big deal for time considering details about his past i haven't revealed yet)
