Can I say something that feels meanspirited but I think is true?
To preface, I think there absolutely is a lot of amazing shoujo and especially a lot of amazing Josei but sometimes… I do think some Shoujo is graded on a curve
Like it gets a bump just for being for girls and not…. Actual quality
And I’m saying this because whenever people say fruits basket is one of the best of shoujo and therefore one of the best manga out there because I feel like you have to ignore… the entire second half of the manga to think FB is actually that good (or good at all, tbh!)
And I feel that way especially when people try to compare shoujo and shounen protagonists and people trot out Tohru
Amazing premise for a manga, amazing concept for a lead but jesus fucking christ the execution and end point for both…
