i think everyone focused so much about eleven character development that no one is talking about el season 1 anymore 🙁 I'm rewatching this season now, and there's so many things that needs to be spoken up and no one does it and i don't understand why. it's very important bc when we take a look at eleven now, her behavior, her feelings and worries, it's all connected to the little eleven from season 1. I have a couple things that i have noticed from basically two first episodes.

NUMBER 1: eleven is afraid of loud noises, i bet that it was really quiet in the lab, she was locked up alone (I'm talking about lab from season 1 not 4 to be clear) practically the only person she talked too is brenner, she was a scared kid and probably was scared of every noise bc she thought that papa is coming to her. Then we can see in season one how she reacts to every noise, she was afraid of the storm, she was nervous when Lucas and Mike were yelling at each other, we can see that she's scared and quiet all the time bc it's her first time at this world- we can't say that living in the lab was actually living 💀 she wasn't even treated as a human being but as an experiment. Everything is new for her, she's fascinating about everything, there are so many things she wants to see, try, learn but she's also scared of everything and then- we can see how she reacts to loud noises even when she's grown up, for example season 4- el is getting bullied in rinko mania, we can see how she's covering her ears bc the music is too loud-(also funny thing i have noticed, the first thing that Mike does when he finds out what's going on is yelling at Angela's friend to turn down the music, why? bc he knows eleven, and he knows that loud noises are hard for her so that's the first thing he does)

NUMBER 2: how useless eleven felt in s4 without her powers, remember s1? when she failed the experiment Brenner got mad and locked her up for a punishment, we can see that when eleven didn't have enough power to do something she was treated like an useless thing, so now, when she lost her powers she felt that she lost the only thing that makes her special, she was really insecure about herself, she thought that no one will love her without her powers bc for what? that's why I can't understand people who are defending brenner 💀like bffr.

NUMBER 3: her love language, she puts attention to words, why? bc all her life everyone lied to her, tricked her, "pretend" that they care using words but never actions, that's why she was focused on Mike's words and not actions, and here we have a problem bc mike is focused on actions and not words bc his parents probably use words but how their children can know that they are honest if there's no proof of actions? exactly. Mike cares about actions and expresses himself with actions, that's why the conflict between mileven was ever made. They have a different love language and they both didn't know what to do with that, so now, eleven though that mike doesn't love her bc he doesn't use words, and mike thinks eleven doesn't need him bc she doesn't use actions but words.

Also i would like to mention the fact that this poor girl didn't even know what privacy is. She wanted to get dressed in front of the boys and saw nothing wrong with that. The fact how bad she was treated in the lab needs to be spoken more

The thing is that sassy banter is not inherently a bad dynamic. It can be fun, and it can show natural chemistry. Even the games had something similar: Maria gently pokes fun at Alucard for the way he talks (as in, barely), and Julia gives Hector some attitude when she plays coy about her identity. Or, not quite the same still, but Jonathan and Charlotte have this Red Oni, Blue Oni dynamic where Charlotte really wants to be Jonathan's braincell. It can work, it's fine, sometimes friendship and love is joking around each other.

But NFCV fails because it's much more meanspirited about it. And there is an audience for this, of course: for example, look at all the people who are positive N!Trevor and N!Alucard had steamy hot gay hate sex because they see their dynamic as homoerotic, but for me, it doesn't feel earned because they have just met and N!Alucard plays jump rope with the line in a way N!Trevor never matches. N!Sypha calls N!Trevor a deformed pet bear in jest, again without him ever matching her (and I'm not mentioning when she got genuinely angry with him over nothing, like when he made a comment about beer being better than sex and she got so pissed she froze that beer - it's played for laughs but still, it's mean). Greta jokes that N!Alucard is lucky that she's there to run his life for him, when again they don't quite know each other that well and she met N!Alucard when he was a traumatized mess (a trauma she made a nonsensical joke about, although he found it funny so I guess that counted as a bonding moment). And I don't think I need to tell you that Lenore is more than mean to N!Hector - but I can point out how incredibly tasteless the very idea of her spouting dick jokes to pass the time is, to pretend they have sexual chemistry, when not even two months prior she sexually abused N!Hector in multiple ways and she forced that sexual tension onto him. Again, you could have written anything else, you could have had her ask him if he likes his new uniform or some shit, but somehow you managed to choose the worst possible option. peak

But also yes, the sameness just hurts everything. Hector/Julia and Alucard/Maria are conceptually a similar ship, mostly because they share similar narrative roles, but they don't talk the same, they don't interact the same, Alucard and Hector are different people and Maria and Julia are different people and it reflects in their dialogue. Maria is more jokey than Julia, because Alucard is more terse than Hector. Jonathan and Charlotte poke fun at each other from time to time, but the whole game is about their friendship, how they help each other and support each other. Jonathan is angry about his father's death and Charlotte emotionally supports him, Charlotte feels slighted when treated like a girl and Jonathan treats her like a peer, not like a genius like she wants to be seen lol but not like a little girl either. They have each other's backs in every way.

Like. You have to have some substance behind the banter. That is what I'm saying. Chemistry can be shown by jokes and all, but you also need to convince me these people like each other. When you scratch under the banter of the NFCV couples, there is either nothing behind it, or something really rotten.

(and, as I said multiple times, I actually would have liked if N!Hector and Lenore sassed each other to keep up the façade that they're happy with one another, but N!Hector is quietly seething and conflicted and Lenore regrets that their chemistry is built on deceit and imprisonment, and this is why she snaps when he briefly breaks it: out of guilt she can't cope with. That would be a great way to subvert the cliché and actually play with the tragic elements at hand that had the audience interested. But S4 is cowardly on a whole another level, so the dick jokes are just to laugh at and I'm really meant to believe their love is wholesome.)

When it comes to relationships Jace, Baela and Rhaena are going to be so f*cked up 🤣 like imagine your parent getting remarried not even six months (which I call Rhaenyra being pretty heated about so why she would not think twice about doing that to not only her children but two other children 🫠) after the death of your other parent. In Jace's case he got screwed over twice because of Harwin who he’s not even allowed to publicly or privately mourn and then again because of Laenor who was the only father he was allowed to ever acknowledge (same thing for Luke but he’s 💀 and Joffrey is six).

And poor Baela and Rhaena who not only have lost their mother, lost their mothers dragon (I mean they didn’t technically loose Vhagar but still that was something binding them to her), they’ve been moved to an entire different country, and to make matters worse they who have always been together are SEPARATED both living with strangers with Rhaena having Daemon who she feels like ignores her 😭

I swear Targaryen parents (especially Targaryen fathers) read the “How To Get My Kid To Hate Me: 101” handbook. Like at least Rhaenyra treated Harwin and Laenor good but if I was Rhaena or Baela I’m never speaking to Daemon again.

Also even though I’m sure someone’s already mentioned it but Rhaena only addressing Rhaenyra as “your grace” or “princess” is odd. Jace and Luke don’t do that with Daemon. So my question is did Rhaenyra ask her to call her that (which is a red flag) or for six years straight did Rhaenyra never correct her and tell her she could call her Rhaenyra or Cousin (also another red flag) 🙃

Like it could’ve been interesting if Rhaena was it saying in a sarcastic way or like as a way of “rebellion” so Rhaenyra (and Daemon) knows she doesn’t like her or isn’t happy but they have her smiling and playing arm candy the entire season. It’s a bit weird and not at all how actual blended families act unless there is some sort of animosity somewhere.

It's all a mess. I really hope that the showrunners don’t actually think they are portraying a normal happy healthy blended family because these are not the faces of happy children🤦🏽‍♀️:

Their parents just died and this is what their remaining parent does to them🫠 Those kids are traumatized. Hell Jace low-key seems like he hates Daemon in episode 10 and that’s totally justified given everything(they could give his boring self personality if they feed into this).

We can not talk about how weird it is that Rhaena calls Rhaenyra “princess” or whatever other formal title. If Rhaenyra never corrected her shame on her and Daemon for allowing that to happen(I love him, but I would have to pelt him with rocks for that).

Rhaena is her stepdaughter and her cousin. She’s not just any girl off the street. She’s family. Future queen or not, in informal settings(I’m talking about the scene where it’s just Rhaena, Rhaenys, and Rhaenyra) she should not be calling her princess.

Putting it in there to as a small act of rebellion is a brilliant idea, but sadly these showrunner’s are short on brilliant ideas(especially when it comes to portraying Rhaenyra as anything, but a saint)🫠

I'm really just disappointed with the storyline for the girls as a whole. The showrunner's idea of characterization for Baela and Rhaena is for them to be pretty puppets.

We better see a change in season two because this is outrageous. Yes, they don’t do much during most of the Dance(Baela’s big moment isn’t until the end of the conflict and Rhaena is tucked away from it all), but if they can come up with plot lines for certain characters they can come up with more for them to do(especially since they are a little bit older than their book counterparts).

I think, Shadowheart must step aside for now, Karlach needs us, and she seems nicer without such a shadow as Shar hanging over her heart unlike that tragic girl, she bucks so hard against the teachings she repeats, and she doesn’t remember what happened before now. Very strange. Perhaps I’ll need her again soon, but for now! I will brush up on my healing magic and prepare to defeat some very naughty hunters!

All righty I’ve finished science brofist’s route and that means more rambling! (Seriously though everyone sees his name as that right?? How the hell else am I supposed to pronounce Scien Brofiise??? It sure as hell ain’t how they say it in Japanese! 😂) spoilers under the cut as usual

Hmm… overall while I liked it, I think I’ve been so thoroughly emotionally and mentally broken by Mathis and Lucas that Scien’s route seemed pretty… tame in comparison LOLOL 💀 or maybe I’m still on residual WTFs from Lucas and should’ve waited another day to let it settle oops

The pain meter from these first three to me is Lucas > Mathis > Scien

The ending was definitely still a big oof and a little yikes though 😬. But with how dubious the “science” is in this game, part of me was wondering why Scien couldn’t just make a clone from Ceres’s body and then stick the memories he had into her after? Like people save memory backups of themselves prior to dying so why couldn’t he have saved her memories on whatever constitutes a USB stick in this world lmao

The science in this game in general honestly I just… can’t think about too deeply or it all falls apart LOL, being in like the medieval ages where you still gotta hand wash clothes but then suddenly having shit like electric cars, headset phones, touch-holograms, and perfect cloning with memories but not emotions is such whiplash 😂

The final CG was super pretty though, oof the expression on his face, my poor babygirl 😩 but… why are all the kiss CGs… not super great LOL, is the artist bad at drawing kisses? Because so far they’ve all looked a little uhhhh in each route? 😬😂

I very much appreciate the fact though that Scien’s best CGs are hands down the ones where he’s posing like a lil slut lmaooo, the jigsaw puzzle one?? Bitch he’s practically twirling his hair!! 😂

And his interactions with Ceres were very cute, especially the whole sandwich thing! But when she was like yay I’m so happy I’ve been promoted from maid to a sandwich dispenser! I was like girl… are you okay…?? Well clearly not but still 😂 like dang, never been happier getting told by a man to make me a sandwich lmaooo

Anyways! Back to the route in general - the whole thing of him being an oh no evil science man was so… meh to me? Maybe because I work in the sciences so I have a different view but like, I was perfectly fine with him experimenting on criminals? That’s pretty much what clinical trials are in the real world?? Of course you need to test shit on a few people before giving stuff out to the the general populace??? Why are people upset at this????

It was nice learning a bit more about Salome (though tbh I thought her backstory and relationship to scien would be… more significant LOL). And kinda weird that they left her mumbling when they were in hiding as “…” instead of maybe just quickly forcing the text to go through, because my limited amount of Japanese from anime let me understand the gist of what she was saying and oh. Gives a bit of a different vibe knowing what she said vs it having to be explained

Also, my face when they just decapitated Adolphe but then Ceres TOOK HIS HEAD WITH HER? HONEY NO, GIRL PUT IT BACK HE’S DRIPPING

It tells about Rodion, a very kind and compassionate person (with a sick heart, so he doesn't have long left) who meets a very unhappy and lonely inventor Harward Eddison (well, also frighteningly intrusive, but how not to feel sorry for such a poor guy?) and becomes friends with him. He could not imagine how his life would turn out after meeting this miserable genius!

Harward invites him to its mansion, offering to introduce him to his family and show his inventions. They arrive at Harward's house, far from any settlements, and havin som tea, waiting for his family. After tea Rodion felt a little sleepy... And then he woke up on the operating table. ☠️

Now he has become part of the Harward's family, which members seem not really human... And where does this constant mechanical sound of gears come from?

I also have a second setting, but about vampires! I don't like its as much as HF andddd feel kinda impassively for them (and even anxious a bit because its not the thing i relate with), but they help me to rest my brain, because its a sitcome and exist only for jokes and etccc....!!! It's called Deadly Plague and it's based on a funny dream i had about non existing 80s film. Deadly Plague tells about six vampire brothers, Adam, half-human, Morris, average Will Wood fan , Mite, Flea and Horace, three telepath brothers, and Buster, who is def having rabies.

The plot is simple: one night they found a baby on the road and decided to adopt her, rise and integrate into human society. Morris gave girl a name: Deadly Plague 🦇🦠💀

Anddd thats all lol!!! Plague grow up, brothers do vampire things??? There is no exact plot, its just a thing for cute gags and turning brain off, so there is badly a character development (except Plague ofc cuz shes growing up from baby to young adult) or serious conflicts.

fhdjksagh I'M SORRY BUT NOT REALLY THAT SORRY ABOUT THE JEONGGUK SCENE 💀 I just saw the opportunity for a spicy goth Jeongguk moment and went for it... and OMG it ended up lining up perfectly with the pictures for his single (when I wrote this chapter, I don't even think he announced he was doing a solo project yet) so honestly... taking it as his blessing LMAO but I'm so glad I could have you blushing and screaming with that scene!! ❤️‍🔥

Ugh I know poor Tae bear... he definitely feels so guilty and wrong for what went down in his past, and as he got to know MC a little bit better, I imagine it was difficult for him to keep that secret from her. His fear was MC becoming afraid of him/feeling threatened by him, and certainly he's worried that she'll get dragged into a big ordeal/get in trouble if he is somehow tracked down and connected to the crime. Even with that fight with Namjoon, everything Joon said about Tae was something Tae had already thought about himself (even though Joon was a dick about it). Tae, however did not care for Joon turning it around on MC, which is what escalated the fight.

LMAO you know what? I so agree with you on the silent treatment route towards Namjoon. Honestly it's what he deserves after all of that, I mean he heard Tae and MC's entire exchange... its not like Tae murdered someone in cold blood! Dude definitely needs to work on controlling his emotions, hopefully with time and practice he'll get better at doing so... BUT!! Jeongguk and the rest of the hybrids were practically choking on her despair, so I'm sure once Namjoon's rage dissolves, he'll smell it too and realize how much he hurt her with his words-- we'll see in the next update!

fdksafjfdksa Alice and Hoseok... ahhh MC was definitely feeling the envy. Hoseok looked damn good at the cookout too, ouch. Alice and Laura Santos, MC's good friends she met in high school, will become bigger parts of Trouvaille as time goes on, so there will possibly be more inner conflict MC experiences if one of her best friends becomes possibly romantically involved with Hoseok!!

I'm so excited that you're loving the slowww burn so far!! I'm dialing up the romance as steadily as I can, and I just cannot wait for the yearning to get stronger, things to get a little messier, and the heat to continue building eeee!!
