Imagine the Riordan-verse, but instead of pagan deities of times gone by, it's public domain gods from fictional settings like Lovecraft, Dunsany, and Blake's myths. There is a school for the children of Cthulhu and his brood where they learn to fight their parents. There is a club in a university that is exclusive to those descended from characters in Blake's mythology. Dunsany's gods keep their kids in a summer camp.
I have been doing some research on this and there are a lot of public domain deities that could literally fill up an entire book. So many Golden Age comics that fell off the map, so many Lost World stories that deal with secret tribes with Gods that don't really exist.
Then there are deities like Caissa, the Greek God of Chess, who was straight up invented in the 16th Century by some Italian dude. It would be fun to see works of fiction based on these deities, not just the Riordan-verse, but also stuff like Shazam, where instead of drawing from real-life gods, these fake myths have a crossover cosmology.
