They're up in the tunnels, lying on their back on exposed tweenstone while the opals glitter in the walls above them. It's dead dark in here. She's got decent night vision and Martyn probably does too. Glowing eyes do help with that. She's got dirt coating most of her body. Martyn's patting more into place and really going off on a long-winded spiel. Yeah, he does that. Cleo rests with one hand on her stomach and lets him talk. Martyn just wants someone to talk to and she just wants to touch the loamy black soil outside the perimeter. They have to do this together or not at all.
"-enough foreshadowing, d'you think?" Martyn makes a vague swirl with his hand. "I mean, when I look at the storyboards, it seems a little bathtub-y, but I wanted to have fun with it. I think I can swing it- It's better to have fun."
"Mmhm," she says. "I mean, if you want to avoid info-dumping, tension's always going to be the best fix. The first thing I think of is just… Adding weapons. Or maybe slide the scene somewhere else, like a cliff. Or maybe you have a build or private room the viewers have never seen inside before, so it feels exciting even if it's full of talking."
"There's a thought!"
"Or- or, here's an idea- Give them a solid reason they can't actually leave. It doesn't even have to be physical restraints, right? Maybe one character has an item the other wants. Maybe it's just information. Or someone's hurt? You have that whole treasure-hunting schtick going on, right? Adding a collectible to the mix could amp the stakes."
"Oh, that's good. I like that… Withholding information is killer, dude."
"Not too much, though."
"No, no! It'll be clear well before the end. Hmm. Maybe it just needs a pacing restructure. A little more to draw things out, yeah? I might slip in an extra scene upfront that doesn't look important at the time, but should really tie things together down the road." He sprinkles dirt around her neck, making some stupid drawn-out show of it just because it gets his wings up, apparently. Cleo sticks out their tongue. He laughs, giving the wings a flap. "Ooh, actually- You know that respawn idea I had last Friday? What are your Week 2 thoughts on that?"
"Kill your darlings. Not the character- I mean the scene. Just opt for a near-death experience instead. I think the punch will hit harder."
"What hits harder than a respawn?"
Cleo shrugs, which waterfalls black dirt down their shoulders and across Martyn's skinned knees. "I mean, delays don't do you any good. You'll have dead space anyway because of all that travel time to get back to the main scene. Remember your Limited Life ending with the lava buckets? Just work around it. Set it up so you can stay around, even if you're injured. Respawns feel like cheating anyway- I mean, they refresh you back to full energy. It's a little cheap."
Martyn exhales. It leaves him like a swirl. "Hmm… Yeah, I can see that."
"Just think about it, at least. You don't have to throw the scene out."
"Yeah, I know. I do see your point. Spawn is so far away." He takes the spilled dirt and pats it into place again, pressing on the wrinkles until the stuff is sealed against her like a freshly frosted chocolate cake. "The thing is, I feel like I'm getting nowhere with the storyboards. I think I need to get into the dialogue. Maybe do some test drafts. A few bullet points, at least. I'll run them by you again next week and we can do a pros and cons list."
"Mmhm!"
That seems to satisfy him. See, Martyn likes to talk through plot points without spilling spoilers to the people he actually roleplays with. And he's always hungry. These are the two most important facts you need to know about Martyn, at least as far as Cleo and the gemstone cave are concerned. See, so long as they only allofeed him snippets at a time, he'll patiently wait until she's run out of souls to share before he finally takes her out. Even when she's well down in the depths of phantom hour, he'll let her push the boundary. Maybe farther than he should. Throw a soul in front of a phantom and you'll really wreck their aggro.
It's a balance of carrots and sticks. It's yin and yang. It's push and pull. Teamwork is essential. She never would've managed to carve out this secret cave without Martyn's wings lifting her past the bullet path moat or into the ceiling tunnel. Scott can poke around all he wants, but unless he thinks to look up, he's never going to find her hideaway.
The thing is, Martyn can whisk his help away any time he likes. At any time. He didn't withdraw when Double Life split them apart, though Cleo firmly told him chatting about Double Life was off the table the first time he opened his mouth. The third time, maybe. Sure, he whined and groveled about roleplay decompression for a bit (for "the" bit?), but she gave him a cornflower from her hair that he can keep in Between to match the one she gave him on the server. That's all the "We're okay; it's just a game" aftercare he really wanted. He eased up.
He never wore it, though, even though it was the start of the 100-day block back then, which is… confusing. She dropped by his and Jimmy's place once for a game night though, and there it was… in a vase. And honestly, it doesn't get any more clear than that: Thanks for the gift! Your friendship's important to me, but I reject your courtship. I'll keep it as a memento to show there's nothing weird between us, but I'm not wearing this. I don't want you to get the wrong idea.
Martyn's full of wrong ideas. He does what he thinks is "funny." That's the polite way to put it. And since hanging out with Martyn in the caves is really just a business transaction, she should probably make an effort to be polite.
"What's so funny?" he asks, looking up from her dirt-covered arm.
"Bad joke."
"Share or it didn't happen."
Cleo blinks up, his form in shadow apart from the lapis-like glow of his eyes. "I gave you a flower a while back. During Double Life."
"Yeah?"
"You never wore it, but I saw it in your room. Just thought it was funny to interpret that as you saying 'I don't want Cleo to get the wrong idea' when you're full of wrong-"
"Whoa, whoa," he says, throwing his hands in the air. Cleo snorts and Martyn tsk-tsks, thwacking his tail against the dirt. "And this when I'm putting dirt on you."
"I do appreciate that, yeah."
He slaps the next clump down hard. Cleo jolts, but the glitter in his eyes tells them straight away that he's not really mad. "I can't believe that's what you think of me even in your private thoughts. And after all this time!"
"I'm petty, rude, and I commit to the bit. I'm not sure why you're surprised."
"I'm not."

Some thoughts on 0080 (Spoilers)
(As per usual, this whole thing is just a huge ramble that may or may not be coherent so I apologize for that in advance)
Tumblr media
I dont usually run into media that hits me like a brick.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket is a heartbreaking story that brilliantly utilizes the concept of the "one year war", established in the main series, to truly bring a tale that perfectly complements the values of Gundam with an amazing critique on war.
Where do I begin...
It all takes place in a small neutral colony (A colony is like a small city earth in space). It’s a beautiful place.
0080 is a beautiful series to look at, the colors are so vibrant, the animation is great, the retro-future look everything has is a treat to the eyes.
It’s a normal town with normal people living their daily lives.
The main PoV in the whole OVA is that of an elementary school kid, Alfred Izuruha
and this is the thing that makes 0080 unique from all the other side stories
In making the main PoV that of a childs instead of a soldiers, we get to see how war has influenced the youth in this colony and how Al reacts to the reality of war.
The way "War in the Pocket" critiques the indoctrination of children into war is amazing and leaves you disturbed at the sight of a whole elementary school exited for a possible next war after witnessing the horrors of this one.
The pacing of the whole thing is a bit slow but it’s the good kind of slow. It sets up everything, the world, the characters, the factions and their roles in this story, the relations between some characters.
It builds everything slowly and then it shows you how it destroys it.
Seeing this lovely world with a dark side introduced in the first three episodes ONLY FOR THE LATER 3 TO HAPPEN... GOD...
(Start of Spoilers)
Seeing Bernie slowly treat Al like a younger brother and grow fond of him is so sweet.
Bernie and Chris being cool around each other.
The Zeon team hanging out, they are not good people but they all feel like drinking friends
they deserve a better life than fighting for the war.
Alot of time is spent with the characters, its a very personal story.
I apreciate the restraint on action on the entire thing.
Every time there is action, something horrible happens.
Heres some thoughts I had in the middle of watching the final few episodes
-I fear -What will happen -Yknow -I have seen some of UC before -But the fear that comes every time a MS is brought up here -Every time... every time something horrible happens
My thoughts haven't changed.
The action is brutal.
Everything is brutal.
and after those peaceful days... everything happens.
The wipeout of the Zeon team
Bernie's resolve to fight for the colony, to protect for Al's home from the nuclear threat... ONLY FOR THAT THREAT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF OFF SCREEN.
The heartbreak of seeing this young guy throw himself to death for no reason anymore.
Seeing Bernie's recording that scene... it’s everything 0080 stands for

"Don't hate the Gundam pilot and don’t go hating the feddie soldiers because they are like us, you and me. They are just people simply doing what they think is right, that’s all. I know that it’s hard but try not to hate them".

Everything ending with the dramatic irony of Bernie asking Al to say hi to Chris and Chris asking Al to say goodbye to Bernie.
and back at the elementary, hearing some of the most chilling words ive ever heard at the end of a show.
"Al don't cry, cmon! You know another war will start soon and when they close the school we'll be able to check out all the cool stuff! it'll be more than this time!"
It hurts.
I will never forget this. what a cruel way to get back into gundam.
10/10
Tumblr media
Thats all I got in me atm. I know its a incoherent mess as is most of the things I write about media. I deeply apologize for this wall of text

3.1 damn, nice intro monologue from the evil fucker. sad that Dulcinea didn't punch him in the face, but i guess she's not there yet. and were is Puss? damn that's some good darkest hour Puss. and in a new way. we've had (will have?) Puss utterly terrified in the last wish, but this is Puss defeated, not physically but emotionally. and that's new and interesting to see. damn, for a moment i though we were going to have a plot of "everyone is too nice to Puss to not hurt his feelings more because we don't know if he can take it but that denial of reality is even more harmful" but it seems like we're taking the plot of "Puss feels utterly defeated and needs to learn that losing, even if it's really bad, doesn't mean you're to blame and/or that you should give up" which is the more interesting plot, if done well. damnit puss i was interested in Pajuna's backstory. you dick. puss with strings? well that made it into the last wish even if it'll likely not stick here. … court drama? not what i expected but i love it. even if it's too small a part of the episode. and a cliffhanger? oh how you spoil me.
3.2 of course that's what gets puss back into action. he gave up on himself deserving anything good, but nothing bad is allowed to come to his friends. and damn that's some good guitar fighting, which isn't the easiest to make work. the clever plan backfires in the long run. damn the fighting in this show really improved with the new season. only a special cat stands a chance against the bloodwolf. i guessing Dulcinea.
3.3 every episode builds on the last, if this continues i'll love it. and will puss face the idea of someone being better then him at what he does? he never handles that well. yay supportive father figure… also puss needs to stop making broken noises. "the colours, they smelly so salty" sadly there's not really anything to say for ugly duckling. she looks like a little duck/swan. but no clothes or identifying features to inform us of the character
3.4 yay assembling the gang (will we get a 5 man band? Puss leader, Dulcinea heart, El Guante Blanco smart guy/lancer, golem tough guy). but can puss accept that someone else is the muscle. i love a game of chicken with massive explosives. literally calling El Guante the brains, so i guess he has the smart guy role (though you can have 2). and Puss calls himself the face, which i count as proof that he's the leader, as if that wasn't obvious. "be free… again" i don't know, it's just beautiful. oh… now that's definitely a good choice for the lancer. the duchess? i mean the lancer is supposed to oppose the leader, be more morally grey then the leader, be the opposite of the leader. the duchess has been an antagonist so far so check for oppose, she's a villain so more morally grey check, and where Puss is physical swordsman the Duchess is technology and magic. a perfect lancer. and Dulcinea calls Puss the hero, in case there was any doubt Puss is the leader. if you have no clue what i'm talking about:
youtube
3.5 they are going to get a swordsman? damn, puss' pride won't like that. but he will take the advice that's given. that certainly is progress (though i'll still expect this to be a pride episode). and who do they get? the magic sword and his lover. and they are breaking up... that's no good for when they are recruited. and damn if that doesn't make for a much more interesting episode then pride. "i will have my vengence.... but first i will have my breakfast". show still funny. also interesting that the previous swordwielder appears to have fully left. it's neat that they are setting up the old sword with El Guante Blanco. but this does risk his smart guy role (as smart guy has too not really fill other roles. it's nice that they show puss and the good sword are incompatible not just because puss can't stop talking about himself. the good sword too has a very particular way he wants things done. also neat that puss recognises it and that the sword and blanco match well "two wielders in one day, you do get around" "you're one to talk, you'll have any fist that will take you" bloody hell, that's blatant. the team consists of: the heart (hey that's the title red gave the roll), the sword (wasn't he also the smart guy?), the muscle, the magic (that sounds a lot like the smart guy role, and the dutchess and the golem leaving together sets them up to be the smart guy tough guy duo), the giant cat bird thing (six ranger?), and the leader. very standard 5 man band if Blanco and sword fill a lancer role. and puss trying to come up with a name throughout the end credits, hilarious.
3.6 fun, an episode about leadership and that it has to come with doing less likeable things like not going with all plans of others. now if it was just puss learning that lesson it would be ok, but Dulcinea is also leading it, taking charge of the village. so lesson learned... with 5 minutes on the clock? how queer. excuse me since when can Dulcinea fight? i mean i love it, but when? damn Dulcinea putting the moll king in his place, ending with a subtle "i'll cut your neck" sign. gods i love it. and ending with a timeframe for when everything will go to shit. and we know they won't be able to fully stop it before the bloodwolf comes, because that's simply not how stories work.
3.7 "just as certain as i am that chickens come from the moon" puss gets a replicate, but it's dumn as fuck. well it is a unique twist on the standard plot. and Olly is failing misserably at being evil, fun episode all around.
3.8 no in on san lozenzo knows the concept of flipping a coin. honestly amazing idea for an episode. i'm suspecting a huge amount of gambling, ending with them ending one form of gambling and then finding another, like dice or something. Dulcinea thrown out but landing on her feet. don't know why, just really fun. oh damn puss is full on addicted. (oh wow he doesn't even land on hsi feet. especially in comparison to Dulcinea that is quite a strong visual) oh shit they are going so hard on how hard he is hit by this. love the detail of his ears being crooked. oh... ok... the gambing is bad, but the people who try to directly fight it are too... that's a damn nuanced take. they portray empathy and trying to educate people out of it as the most correct path, though not immediately effective. as i said: nuanced. also love that Dulcinea would come with the solution of cheating, especially with a coin with two heads. i'm so curious at to why she of all people would have such a thing. and i fucking called it (well, cards instead of dice, but basically the same thing.
3.9 huh, pickle kid doesn't like his birdday. now i'm really curious: will they make it ok for people to not like things others do, or is it a lesson in that sometimes it's a good idea to give things another try and/or try to enjoy it for the sake of others? huh, making him king of san lorenzo. now there is logic to this: make him feel special, that is what birthdays are about after all. however they are then going with a powerhungry story. again there is logic to this: yes your birthday is about you, but don't let that go to your head. however combining that with a "i don't like my birthday" story may lead to conflict. ok, the music with the music box, the exaggerated lighting, holy shit they are going for a mood here, i love it. green platter everywhere. especially on the site i watch it which turns greyscale when paused. truly makes it feel like a murderous tyrant... i love it.
3.10 one of episode with sky pirates? also love the captain. two eyes, he wears an eyepatch. also has an eye on hit forhead. fucking weird. also he's really sad, wonder if they'll handle it in a serious or joking way. wow, this really is an episode about grief. something seriously ominous about a ship with no one on it. a true ghost ship. god i should add that to my dnd game at some point. also these pirates are nicely animated. oh, pirate multi parter, neat. also amazing problem to end with "we know where the treasure is, but not where we are"
3.11 you are a mammal, why can you not swim?! oh, the mermaid is back. did not much like her last episode, hopefully this one is better. her design is still really neat, but it's still ugly coded which i still don't like. like yea it's alien in parts... so is the sphynx and she's not treated like this. oh, it's the male that gets pregnant, neat. makes sense, it's more common in aquatic species. well, this this is turning out to be an episode about people who should not be parents playing parents about to be parents... how will this not have a terrible ending? ok damn feejee actually has a really nice singing voice (also yes there's randomly a song) if only she wasn't stuck doing the "ugly" voice. oh wow that's really neat fighting: 3 merfolk barrolrolling around puss while stabbing at him with spears. such a great way for underwater fighting. nevermind, 3 parter. not a great episode, but... not terrible i guess.
3.12 they do a really good job with the captain, making it epic when he gets his grove back out of his funk. that... that was i'm pretty sure the exact same jungle sound effect as in lego racers 2. wow, this really is the sea of thieves episode: sail to a place, dig for treasure, fight skeletons over it. they made the parot he lost a twist badguy? i mean it's a twist, but the not twist would have been better as it's then a guy just dealing with having lost someone. ok, i love that giving controlled people their own ability to choice is a theme in this show. also love that they'll bring a skeleton army into San Alonzo.
3.13 well, damn, this is an episode about prejudice. a dangerous episode to do, especially as finally of a season. now in this case they are really outsiders, but making them chance to fit in is a dangerous road to travel. ok so having them pretend to be like others works out terribly, which is good, but i dread what will work. what is neat that it's (i think clearly) the people that are making themselves scared of the skeletons, not anything the skeletons are really doing. the only thing they did that make them conclude that they want to steal their skin is that they touched it in a not culturally appropriate way. ok, the skeletons won the towns people over by a good deed. now i think this was the best way to do this because it's not like this vibes as new or the bad message of "they are good because they are useful". they were, but it's not that they are good because they are useful, they were good and got to show it off. the story would have helped just as much if they were part of a bucket chain to stop fires. they were already doing their own thing to show their intentions. also in general i do love how the skeletons are animated. they are animated to be creepy, with camera angles to aid in this. because if you have skeleton creatures, especially animated, why have them move like people? also neat that uli wants to turn over a new leaf. lot of interesting places that could be taken. also instrumental metal halloweeny song? i love it.
the adventure's of puss in boots
1.1 9 years old, tv show, but not bad in animation quality (at least from the . definitely themes that the last wish touch on as well (of course that'll be the strongest point of comparison). love that the fight in episode 1 ends with a massive bluff "i can't defeat all of you, but i can defeat one. so which one of you will die?"
1.2 travel through different horrific lands. "yes, my friend, this is going to suck". the kingdom of darkness: just a dark screen a noises of people stumbling, and then doing it multiple times. the humour is spot on. that's a damn cool sphinx design, and telling us something about the character while not being overly obvious while in 3d show based on a movie? now that's surprising. sad that she's not in the next one, probably never to return, which makes the quality of design even more surprising.
1.3 you know, it takes some skill to make a funny "i hate my wife" joke, but they pulled it of. "i can never say no to a woman" "please pay your bar tab" "no" have i pointed out that this show nails the humour yet? puss vs ninja's? funny. but apparently not enough. puss vs teenage overly buff ninja pigs? now we're talking. also this show loves being dark in it's humour. how how the mean lady is apparently often crying. i wonder if that'll ever get depth, or is ever mentioned again instead of just being one dark joke.
1.4 "what's it like inside your head?" "wet and bloody".... i mean you're not wrong. at this point i'm just trying to convince people to watch the show because the humour is great. "it's not scary, it's just a bag stuffed with old dolls' heads" so many blink and you'll miss it jokes. why does dismemberment follow me everywhere? seriously what the fuck is up with that? why is it suddenly everywhere? at least it's clean and well cared for. this old guy be horny, in a kidshow. how is this a 2015 show? "you are crazy. but this is not new information" "nope". also recurring villain maybe?
1.5 standard episode: life here is too boring and an interesting old friend comes to steal the hero, but turns out to be a villain. will they play it straight (probably, he's designed as a villain), or will they do something more interesting. way too deep a thought for a short scene: so the orphanage is putting on a fake adventure, the costunes are brought out, and the buys very shortly argue over who gets to be a princess, until it's revealed that everyone who wants to can be a princess. here's what makes it so interesting: there is no joke outside of "the intrinsic funniness of buys wanting to be princesses". now while this could of course be setup for transphobic jokes later this honestly feels like it's just scene setting, just quaint town life, and the opposite of transphobic. i'm sure we won't see a trans character in this show (probably the closest being a queer coded villain) but this is nice. a simple message that everyone gets to be a princess if they want. again very cool monster design. like i want to steal this for my dnd game good. kind of a giant geko with a huge mouth and a lure like some fish have but with a fake pretty lady looking thing instead. my point of comparison is the kong-fu panda tv show which has the issue that it was extremely limited to always using the same assets. this show keeps bringing out amazing new designs every episode so far. also the message is damn strong. also neat that the standard plot was only really plot setup, it's never actually part of the plot, it never really comes into play. and for a boring plot now following up can be the best thing. the joke is that everyone wanted to be a princes. nothing about gender, just everyone wanted to be the same thing, nice. seriously, how come i never heard anything of this show? 2015. i'm pretty sure i watched some cartoons in 2015. did it never make it's way on dutch tv? i mean i've also never seen anyone talk about it online, something i think i'll have to correct at some point.
1.6 softpaws? nope, just a black cat. also the return of the sphinx which makes me happy. interesting that we get the more visually interesting sphinx sister first. so i've been watching a lot of TBSkyen and now want to kind of do a visual interpretation video like he often does on these two sisters. how the firsts inks and piercings make her read kind of Egyptian, alongside the naked cat stylings, while also indicating individuality and complexity, and how the lack of those in her sister suggests that she's simpler, which is true. one tells riddles, the other just tries to kill you. fuck why is this show so full of great dnd ideas. many magical fountains, each with different effects, like reverse gravity, talking backwards, and needing to say a word to undo it, which is hard with talking backwards, or induces fall damage after falling upwards for a while. fuck it, list time: fountain of invisible spiders, fountain of nausea, fountain of fire, fountain of itchy feet, just a regular fountain.
1.7 this serious continues to confuse me in a positive way in not making transphobic jokes. girly scream from the cowardly mayor? ok, that's prime setup right? sure, but they don't make the joke, it's just a scream that doesn't match the character design, but that's part of the general joke of the character: he's a coward who often hides in a barrel, but he's a huge buff dude who wouldn't even fit in the barrel. you get what i mean? puss doesn't burst in saying "i'll save you my lady" and then haha is a dude. he just bursts in to save someone. another standard plot: convince someone they are brave by pretending they defeat something, they they get overconfident and find real trouble and learn to reign it in or fully return to the status quo, wonder how they'll do it. damn, they did the getting too confident straight, but put enough good jokes in the scene to not make it awkward (hard to avoid), not to see if they can do the rest well. making Dulcinea (the female polite cat) do it because puss is too tired helps. "it's ok buddy, i'll read it to you" "you're a cute friend" subversion of expectation and cute as fuck, these are the joke i love. oh no, the man travels with a shadow over his face in spite of physics, he's definitely evil. surprisingly polite to those he thinks unwell though. and the standard plot continues. going with the "hopes and dreams dashed, but then shows bravery for reals". yep that's basically exactly what they did, with one funny in concept but sadly meh in execution fightscene. this isn't an episode you watch for the end, you watch for the jokes which are amazing.
1.8 human shrek is on the cover of the romance novel. blink and you'll miss it and i love it. oh no, puss ate xanathar's fish, and is now hunted by a Sinnamon smelling golem. this is so stupid in the best way. classic way for things to gain a soul too, it's neat. and damn does it make for a neat episode.
1.9 "let me gaze upon your golden booty" "i am uncomfortable" yes i'm still trying to get you to watch the show. oh a dust devil, neat. and that it's a demon is accurate to how people used to think about them (to my knowledge the origin of djinn). i think that was the first reuse of an asset i noticed (if you ignore the bandits): a sceptre that was broken in a previous episode. this is not a negative, just impressive that it took this long to use the same asset for a similar thing. also love that Dulcinea's arc so far is getting angry, but not like in a bad way.
1.10 excalibur? ok, this is an interesting take. generally not the angle of a reluctant hero (fun dnd PC backstory?). and the classic puss being pretty lost when he can't be the hero... starts to feel a bit overdone, but how many things can you do with him? also the animation touches are very nice. is this a story about cheating? because it sounds like a story about cheating, and with someone not getting over their ex. also this episode has some crazy good action. also this sword has a problem with asparagus.
1.11 uhm, that's not what sphynx looks like. where are her inks and piercings? did they accidentally use the wrong model? "well, technically medicine is the best medicine, but laughter is cheaper". wait what!? the cow barlady used to be an assassin?! also is this an episode about racism? like this could turn sour quickly. also what i think is clever but also semi noticeable is a cost cutting measure (honestly i've been noticing it for a while): if things don't move they aren't actually rendered in 3d, instead a single render is made of them and then it's a flat image that animation is rendered on top of. now this makes total sense to do: it's a lot less rendering so everything will be faster, which is a necessity if it's a tv show with tv show budget with 15 episodes. it allows for backgrounds that are relatively detailed unlike other 3d shows which are very often very plain. but if things look slightly off to you this may be why. damn, mature talk about wanting to do things but not doing it. this show is crazy. also damn that's one evil mouse. at least the sphynx petrified is the correct model.
1.12 that's just a god damn goblin. like literally called a goblin. and visually think dnd goblin... wild. also this is just about racism. mostly a pretty standard episode, but pusses unwavering belief is nice. and if a new person joins the cast that would make it even better.
1.13 earlier today episode? can always be fun. oh, Dulcinea gets to have puss' standard problem: feeling like he's no longer needed, and thus no longer him, thus problem. "i'll even write all of the stories myself. i will use all of the words. so many words!" and suddenly puss is talking like fucking trump. when puss thinks Dulcinea may be in legal troubles he'll immediately start helping her out, because pull aint no snitch lol. well now this episode conflicts with the last wish. Puss being against wishing stars here but going after it then? well, there is of course desperation
1.14 mother Mary the cat? so it'll be a puss' pride episode. the episode didn't have any big fightscenes, so instead the focus was put on the final dance. odd, but really fun.
1.15 a curse of bad luck turning puss into a black cat, that's just neat. wild that i had nothing more to say about it despite it being the last episode of season 1. oh well, on to season 2 i guess.

Notes: finally managed to finished my fanfic and gathered the courage to post it.... Enjoy!
Tumblr note: I got my inspiration from @sweetsoftandscared. You should definitely check them out!
"This is one of the worst ideas you had since the start of this match, Silva."
"Come on Amigo, that entire sneaky stuff got me bored. Even perfect boy here almost fell asleep. We all need some action."
"Speak for yourself, I was having the time of my life!"
~~~
Seer, Octane and Mirage ended up together as a squad in the dropship. Heaven knows why. It's a squad based on the amount of disaster, instead of skill, these three would bring. Especially octane and Seer, those two definitely had a history together. But no one knows (yet) why, Well Rampart definitely knew but she wouldn't tell anyone about them.
Their battle location this time was in Olympus and their dropship flew in at the Bonsai Plasa. Seer was the one who took the lead as jumpmaster and made sure he landed at the Oasis. Everyone else already jumped earlier or later so they got all of the world to loot or observe the area.
That's where it all went wrong.
After a few minutes of gathering guns and supplies, Octane got bored (like always.) and decided to take his own lead, running off to the place where small houses gathered, the place called estates.
Seer tried to stop him, because he noticed the heartbeats of at least 3 other legends. But Octane being octane, he didn't listen at all. Throwing his jump pad in front of the other two legends, who were chasing him, launching them both,unexpectedly, in the middle of a heated battle.
Two squads
Two whole squads.... Well basically one and a half, since there was only one of the three left. So that makes one and a third. I wait, one squad. (they downed the last one while they landed)
The three legends of the remaining squad seemed to be Revenant, Wraith and Loba. Who Already noticed them as they landed on top of the middle building.
~~~
"How about you two just quit whining and just go for it already, if we keep standing still we'll be dead in no time!" Octane responded as he bounces up and down.
A deep, disappointed, sigh escaped Seer's mouth as he pulled out his gun.
"I stay here. Mirage, create distraction but watch out for Revenant. Octane, do what you want." Seer didn't seem to try to give Octane instructions, he just let him wreck havoc so he could focus on his enemy's in front of him.
As they both took off and followed orders, Seer released his tactical called: focus of attention. The micro stones formed a tunnel straight into the building in front of him, revealing two of the three enemies they're about to fight.
Wait, two?
His slight distraction caused his downfall as he didn't notice that Loba used her jump drive. Her bracelet flew straight above his head and ended up behind him.
"I'm sorry, my love. But I really need to win this match. That tin Demon out there promised me that I could kick off his head if we win." Loba said and the moment Seer tried to turn around she already shot him a few times in the chest.
But Loba's action didn't go unnoticed because as soon as she downed Seer, she received a few bullets as well from Mirage, standing on top of the roof from the other building Seer focused his attention on.
"You're welcome." Mirage yelled.
"I downed Wraith, she was too slow for me to escape." Octane cackled as he returned from god knows where.
Revenant was the only one left.
Seer made his way down towards the ground, hoping Mirage would pick him up but at that very moment, Revenant's Tactical landed exactly where Seer ended up, underneath the stacked buildings.
Also Mirage apparently got hit as they heard the cracking sound.
"You gotta help him, Octane. I'll cause a distraction.". irage announced. He didn't get hit by the tactical bomb yet so his abilities still worked. Making sure Revenant would focus on him and his 7 other decoys.
Octane didn't hesitate and quickly grabbed one of his revive needles and stabbed directly into Seer's chest.
Wait a second.
Why did that needle say Simulacrum? Did he accidentally swapped the needles this morning? Was that the reason why Lifeline said he looked Healthier than before? So many questions, such a little time.
"I could use a little help here!" Mirage cried out, who's struggling not to get hit by Revenant's Longbow. Who's hiding in one of the houses behind them.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm com....."
Boom
A clean shot between the eyes ending Revenant's life in an instant.
"What in the name of..."
Did another squad that joined the fight? No, nobody was there except the three of them.
"What's wrong?" Seer said, holding a 301 assault rifle in his right hand, without a scope nonetheless while his left hand still got a hold of one of Octane's hands, pulling the downed man back on his feet.
"Did you just shoot him?" Mirage said.
"Why, yes. You needed some help right? So I provided that help."
Octane tried to pry Seer's hand open, but the taller man was holding it fiercely for somehow no reason.
"Amigo, please, let go of my hand. I don't think Che would be happy if I lost my hand as well. " He said, not paying attention to the kill at all.
Seer spaced out for a few seconds, staring directly at Mirage. Poor Eliot started to back up in response as he felt really uncomfortable right now.
Until he suddenly snapped back to reality and pulled away from Octane's hand. Then he decided to turn around and just started to run?
"The next ring is not far." Seer started. "Come, let's go."
Octane caressed his hand like it's been stuck in a bear trap and raised an eyebrow, underneath his goggles of course, as he watched his teammate run forward. Did the stim give him super sight? Or did it give him super focus? Whatever it was, Octane became jealous.
"What did you do?" Mirage suddenly asked , like he could see Octane's expression under his mask. "There's no way a normal human being could hit someone at that distance."
"I guess it's just luck, Amigo. Something you could use as well." Octavio clearly avoided the question. "Like he said, The ring's coming, try to keep up as well, 'kay?" He said and the another jump pad to catch up with Seer
"Wait, what?" Mirage said confused as he turned around and noticed the red wall of death coming up to him very quickly.
"Don't go without me!"
They finally managed to catch up with Seer, who stopped moving for a second, close at the Hammond labs. He rubbed his temple as he looked at Octane.
"You used the wrong syringe, did you now?" He suddenly said.
"Are you alright, Amigo?"
Seer didn't hesitate for a second and pointed his R301 directly at Mirage, who ducked away in an instant, just to shoot a legend who sneaked up behind him.
"I'm fine, totally. Nothing wrong with me at all." he quickly added and refused to continue at what he just asked. He didn't have the concentration at all to be mad at Octane right now.
"Dude! Watch out where you point that thing!" Mirage said, almost screaming as he panicked. "don't ever do that..."
Seer pushed his index fingers to his lips as an indication for Mirage to shut up.
"The two remaining legends are still on the other side of the wall. I'm going in." The taller Brown man didn't even wait for one then to make the first move, he just took off.... Again.
"phew." Octane let out a relieved sigh. Ignoring Mirage, who clearly looked at him like he saw water burning. "Let's go, we can't let him die alone."
By the time they catch up again, Seer was kneeling down by one the deathboxes, looting some ammo. Two innocent legends, slaughtered brutally by the new guy on drugs. Sounds like headline for the Outlands newspaper
"How even.... We weren't even gone for at least 5 minutes." Mirage said. "Octane, what did you do?"
"It was an accident, Amigo. Are you happy now? Lifeline and I had a drink together yesterday, probably one too much. I accidentally swapped the syringes this morning cause I couldn't think right." He finally confessed because he couldn't handle Mirage's annoying attitude anymore.
"Are there any side effects?"
"depends, want to hear the bad or the worst once?"
"The good once please"
"Side effects aren't really good at all, Compadre. It'll wear off after a while. Probably gonna take a few days but the most common side effect is not being able to sleep or concentrate, cause you know,.. It makes you feel energetic." Octane looked at Seer who's been looking at them both for a while now, moving his fingers rapidly up and down.
-The poor guy won't be able to sleep for the upcoming days.- Octane wanted to say, but he didn't because he knew Mirage probably wouldn't be able to stop talking if he had an antidote for the poison Octane pumped in the always so calm and concentrated Seer.
"Are you both good? There are 10 squad left. Let's go." Seer couldn't even think right at this very moment as the
stim probably reached its peak at this point.
"c'mon, we need to go. Before it wears off, better take the advance now we still can." Octane said.
"Does that mean I can get a kill too?"
"If you're fast enough, Amigo!" Octane said and took the lead this time. Mirage sighed, if only he was as fast as them. His legs were making him tired, trying to keep up with those two junkies.
-This feels wrong.- That's all Mirage could think of right now.
The ring chased them all the way back to the rift. The third round had been announced and the timer went down rapidly, close to round 4. On their way to the ring they took another squad down, but none of them seemed to be the kill leader. Somehow....
Seer got the most kills, logical right? He took down thirteen people. Octane got second place with 8 and mirage.... Yeah, he didn't even bother trying to keep up with those two anymore. He didn't even take the Stim, but he was already worn out mainly because of the constant sprinting. He even burned his butt on the ring because Seer and Octane pushed a squad on the edge of the closing ring.
"Only 2 enemy squads left.... Victory is nearly ours." Seer said as Octane used his Jump Pad to take both Mirage and Seer to the upper parts of the Rift. Being this high gave them the advantage to examine their upcoming enemies.
Besides Mirage acquired a fully upgraded Longbow, so he could see their enemies from at least 300 meters away. But the main reason he was using the Longbow, is because he could still keep an eye on both of his Teammates without moving a lot.
The drugs enhanced Seer's abilities greatly. His ears picked up the sounds of heartbeats even faster and his micro drones reached a distance even further than before. It almost felt like cheating. (Well it definitely was though, none of the legends were allowed to take any drugs, except for Octane, because you know, it's Octane.)
"6 enemies, North, not too far away, currently fighting each other." Mirage said as he loaded the Longbow, ready to Shoot one of them, while standing on top of the building.
Seer peaked through the scope of his R-301, Following the movement of what it seemed to be, Fuse. Who launched his knuckle cluster at one of the other legends he's been fighting.
"Let's go! It's not like they're going to commit suicide!" Octane exclaimed, injecting himself with the 40st syringe of Stim today. He threw his jump pad down in front of himself and used it to launch himself into battle.
4 legends closer to victory. Mirage wanted this to be over, this entire match pushed him to his limits. He doesn't care that he only had 2 kills, well of course he did, but he pushed that away for now.
Seer released his micro drones mid air, after he also used Octane's jump pad of course, to reveal the remaining enemies. Just before he landed, Octane already downed the last one of the other squad Fuse and his team were fighting.
"Knuckle cluster f'ring."
It struck Octane from behind and it stuck long enough to break Octane's shield.
"Shit." Octane growled. Seer heard his teammate being in trouble and quickly focused his attention on Fuse, who seemed to be amused and proud by his actions.
While Octane was trying to recharge his shield behind a MRVN, currently at top on one of the buildings from the Rift, Mirage noticed one of Fuse's teammates, down at the ground, tried to flank Octane.
Bloodhound, Mirage noticed, they only have to scan their area and they would be faster at Octane than mirage ever would be. So the man sighed and decided to take a gamble. First he shot Bloodhound, clearly cracking their shield, and after that he jumped in as well.
Bloodhound quickly turned around, trying to find the one responsible for their cracked shield. But before they took action, Mirage landed behind them. Not exactly behind but 50 meter away.
He tried to regain his balance, but....
"Alfather, give me sight! " Bloodhound suddenly said and turned around to notice Mirage's clumsy landing. Their eyes glowing red and quickly started shooting at the poor soul.
Mirage whimpered, trying to remain his cool, but he couldn't, every bullet he fired ended up in the gutter. But Bloodhound's bullets hit him one for one, almost knocking him. Luckily Octane finally finished up charging his shield and attacked Bloodhound upstairs. Delivering the final blow.
"Be careful where you walk, Amigo!" Octane yelled and threw a Phoenix kit towards the older man.
Seer seemed to have a hard time against Fuse. His quick reflexes suddenly turned slow and he barely found the energy to keep himself on his feet. Fuse took advantage of that, he swiftly moved out of the cover and readied an Arc star on his robot arm. Ready to shoot, but Seer just got enough power to release, his fast loading tactical and the micro drives escaped out of his chest device once again, canceling fuse abilities for a few seconds. Confusing the older men for a second as his arm wouldn't work
Seer's bullet struck Fuse right at his chest , to end the longest battle he had today. Then he collapsed.
"Is he dead?" Mirage boldly asked.
"Of course not, are you crazy, Compadre. " Octane muttered. "He probably fell asleep or something...."
"We have our Champion's!"
It seemed that Fuse and Bloodhound lost a teammate before the last ring closed, so they were unable to revive him or her.
"This was the weirdest match ever. I'm glad it's over..." Mirage sounded worried, and he has enough reasons to be worried. This was Obi's second match in the Apex game and recovering would surely be a drag.
"Come on Compadre, we won! Be happy!" Octane howled and quickly started to jump around.
--------
"So, Silva caused all of this, Huh. It was mu'h fault, i should've keep an better eye on him." Che rubbed her temple as she plays with a pen in her other hand.
After the games ended, Lifeline got called in to pick up Obi's lifeless body and brought him to the hospice on the drop ship.
"It isn't your fault, Aya. I was with him at the match, I should have stopped him earlier. Obi's going to be alright, right?* Mirage replied, standing next to Lifeline, who's scribbling some notes on her note pad about Seer's condition.
"He's going to f'ne. The only problem is that it would take weeks for him to r'cover. I mean, he can easily compete to the games again in just a f'w days. Stim is one h'll of a drug, if you ain't used to it, the side effects of it are terrible. He would still feel energetic but his stamina won't be able to deal with it, think of headaches, being tired all of the time, that surt stuff. He won't be happy when he wakes up."
"I see..." Elliot mumbled.
"Silva is at the Paradise lounge. Yuh should go there as well. Celebrating yuh win and all." Lifeline added. "I can't come, I need to keep an eye on the artist, yuh know."
Mirage wanted to ask if Che was coming too but she already answered his thoughts.
"Are you sure?" He asked to make sure he understood it right.
"Definitely! Now go, Witt. Obi will be alright as long he's in muh hands."
And so Mirage did. Without a doubt lifeline's care was the best of the outlands and Seer will recover as fast as possible. Ready to Lecture Octane about his wrongdoings. (or to kick his ass, just to show how disappointed he was.)

Hi! I have a question and I thought you were a good person to ask for help, if that's alright?
So. I've decided to try to write my first-ever OC/Player fic and I was wondering if you had any advice/tips/anything at all on how to go about doing it well? I've never been the best with OC development. Which is why I've stuck to either self-insert or straight up Player/Player fics. I either get to be vague (self-inserts) or have to do a lot less character development because the personalities and information and everything are already out there to work with (Player/Player).
Take as long as you need to formulate a response to this. I'm in no rush at all. It'll give me some time to sit down and think about what I want this character to be like as I continue on with further installments of the universe!!
Oh! And any tips about universe building {like. how to make the fic seem believable in the setting its in} would be great too, if that's not too much of a bother?
Thanks in advance and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!!
First of all, congratulations!  I love reading YN fics but there is just something about creating OCs that is just...*cleches fist*
Anyways,
The most detailed post I’ve written about my own writing process can be found HERE and HERE and HERE.  People have also asked me about character development before, and honestly, the one thing I can say is be true to your characters you want to create.  I always start with an idea/vision in my head, or maybe I see a face/aesthetic that inspires me, and I go from there -- simple as that!  I know it’s much harder for other people, so what I usually suggest is filling out those ‘76 Question’ type quizzes for the character that you have in mind, so that you truly develop them and they don’t become a one-dimensional character.
In terms of universe building...you just gotta start somewhere.  I always base mine in reality.  Like just as an example, I started posting Alone, Together in April of 2019 but it BEGINS in July of 2018.  That made it possible for me to record the events of the Leafs season and write about them accurately, but also building MY WORLD on top of reality, if that makes sense.  The only fic I’ve ever written that takes place in “the future” or at least concurrently is my most recent one I’m posting now, Patience is a Virtue.  I only did this because I wanted to try something different.  It definitely gives me MUCH more freedom because I don’t have to adhere to “Oh, this can’t happen because the team wasn’t in Toronto!” or “This can’t happen because X, Y, or Z”...but I actually kind of like doing that LOL, I like rooting my stories in a very believable reality that makes people remember what happened but also has this layer of “Hey, my characters are going through *this* when *that* was happening!”  Like Willy/Aberdeen when Mike Babcock was fired.
I hope this all makes sense!!!  You can also check out the ‘my writing’ tag on my blog for other instances where I talk about my writing, but honestly, the links I provided you already are the most useful ones.

✨Check Up Tag✨
Tagged by the darling @j-pping ♡.
How has your day been?
Pretty out of sorts. Though mostly that's from staying up most of the night reading Dragon Age fanfiction. Played Dragon Age in my pillow fort after that. Glad to be absorbed in not reality. The stress has been starting to get to me.
What was the last thing that made you smile?
The aformentioned fanfiction. It likely won't be finished, but lately I've been consuming all the "OC time travels to when Solas is younger" stories to see how everyone interprets the lore and how they could see Solas changing his mind. All the different variations of ancient Elvhenan are lovely to read. They're all very creative and distinctly different, and in this last one they had Felassan (one of my favorite characters. He's very underappreciated) as a reaccuring sassy side character which made me very happy. I also may have unintentionally had a breakthrough in some past personal trauma because of a few lines the author wrote.
What’s keeping you entertained these days?
Reading, Dragon Age, writing, movies/shows etc, and crafting. Like, yarn crafts. Knitting and looming and the like.
If you are in some sort of quarantine/self-isolation, is there anything you’d like to achieve in this time?
I should practice my instrument, but what I want to do is read the new Dragon Age book I just discovered came out last month. I also just started a book on gender indentity; I'd like to finish that. Oh, there's also a good possibility I'll be able to build my own PC. Even though the parts are older it'll be an upgrade from what I have now so that'd be really nice to be able to run more than one thing at a time without everything burning in a ball of chaos.
Post a selfie! (if you want)
Um, I'm gonna count this joke meme I made for a friend it's the closest you'll get sorry.
Tumblr media
Tagging @sugarboyuto cause of course I am nobody should be surprised.
