#it'd be a tall order but playing marius is already a tall order

I'm pretty sure people are expecting show!marius's actor to have the same inhuman mannerisms that Assad Zaman has mastered so well for Armand, but considering Marius's own repulsion towards his vampirism and how that seems to have been carried over in the show, like his refusing to make Amadeo a vampire,* I think it'd be interesting to see an actor playing Marius as almost less inhuman than Armand, as someone who's dedicated to replicating human mannerisms in a way that feels practiced and studied and more convincing than Armand de Electronic Mailbox ever really managed or wanted to be, while still being just a little creepy. kind of like Lestat awkwardly replicating human behavior in the early episodes of s1, but More, somehow. than the trick is to reflect the ways that humanity bleeds off of him in times of stress, how Marius's sense of pride and his revulsion for the vampire in himself and Armand can only take him so far.

*which people have probably correctly theorized was also an issue of control, but turning Amadeo into a vampire probably would have made it easier for Marius to control him, making Amadeo rely on him for blood and shelter from sunlight, etc, like it did for Lestat controlling Louis and Claudia in NOLA. not to mention that freezing Amadeo at a younger age would, cynically speaking, have made him even easier to trade for art, so it seems there was some genuine emotional issues Marius had with turning him
