I love the Untamed character songs bc most of them are these amazing themes that speak of the characters passions, fears, ambitions, etc. while matching so well their personalities... And then you have the villain’s songs.
Xue Yang, with a harrowing, hauntingly beautiful requiem for Xiao Xingchen.
And Meng Yao, who starts rapping.

everytime I listen to "Nobody" by Hozier I imagine a band AU Eustass Kid dedicating it to his lover who's at home while he's on tour
Oohhh I had to go look it up, but I like it. I can see it.
I see Eustass Kid, in a band AU, being very similar to Meatloaf - very almost inappropriately sexual rock ballads and multi-layered stories within songs about hot summer days, and first loves, and the passions of living.
but I see Kid as being very deeply entrenched in music. He listens to everything cause he just loves music, but the punk look/vibe/sound is his favorite. He leans into the Heavy Metal Brute™ because it protects his friends, and people seem to expect it.
I could certainly see him covering Hozier's Nobody 100% - it'd be a little rougher though, I think.
Tell me anything on anon. Come on, don’t be shy. ~_^

consider this ,,
karaoke. phantom troupe.
I AM CONSIDERING ...
if shal was able to repurpose some old karaoke machine while the troupe was hiding out at like an old mall, it'd really be something. drinks would have to be flowing for quite some time for anyone to even pitch the idea.
uvogin naturally volunteers himself to go first. what he lacks in musicality, he makes up for in enthusiasm. it's almost a miracle that he doesn't break the microphone during the bridge of whatever song he chooses. considered doing a body surf at one point much to everyone's chagrin. he called up nobunaga for a duet, who vehemently opposed at first, until uvogin reminded him of an old lost bet. nobunaga had no choice but to shove his pride down and perform. his voice isn't that bad, surprisingly. a little flat a times but barely anyone can hear him over uvogin anyway. (shalnark is secretly recording the entire thing).
shizuku gets up on the stage, and despite the melody playing, she claims to forget how the song goes. she reassures that it'll come back to her eventually (it doesn't). the five minute song passes in eerie silence.
kortopi chooses a heavy metal song. he has to get a taller member to move the microphone down so he can reach it. anticipation is rising in the air when the song starts, as no one has ever seen him say more than like eight words at a time. he proceeds to whisper all the lyrics into the microphone. the backtrack drowns his ASMR rendition out.
with enough convincing and wine in her system, paku might whip out an old timey ballad. she has a lovely singing voice. very rich, very sultry. probably the best from the lineup so far. has a well developed chest voice but tends to use a falsetto for high notes.
phinks half-jokingly asks HWR reader if she would be interested in doing a duet ... she outright refuses. she's most familiar with opera arias and knows a few by heart, but would rather be caught dead than singing in front of the spiders. chrollo has caught her singing mindlessly once or twice and was sworn to secrecy.
with no cute girl to accompany him, phinks makes his way to the stage. by pure reflex, he picks an idol song, but after seeing the group's stunned reaction, claims it was a mistake and went for some classic rock. a somewhat gravely voice, pretty decent.

Each character has a song obv and each one is a different genre
Fig's songs are pop punk like I said
Gorgug's songs are (and this is the only thing I can think of that's anywhere close to what I'm thinking of) reminiscent of Babymetal. Like the actual song he sings is cutesy and very sweet but over time or the angrier he gets the background music starts to get heavy metal-y. Does that make sense? Also all of his scenes that are just him if there are any have a heavy metal soundtrack
Kristen's songs are gospel. Obviously. I don't need to explain that one. Maybe when she realizes she's gay she just fully sings a girl in red song hdhdhdhsb,, at first I thought "what if the genre changes when she loses faith in helio" but I don't think it would. I think that being religious in some way, like when she rejected Helio she almost immediately turned to something else to worship, is just part of her character so I think it'd still have that gospel vibe.
I don't really have as solid ideas for music for Riz, Adaine, and Fabian so any ideas y'all have are welcome but here's what I have
When Adaine is with her family theres classical playing in the background but when shes with the bad kids I think it'd morph into something more modern and happy. She's got a leit motif that changes genre depending on what environment shes in and who's she's with. When she has panic attacks the music goes crazy. She also definitely has a power ballad when she defies her family and it's epic.
Riz and Fabian have really stumped me I have pretty much no idea what kind of songs they'd sing genre wise.
Fabian sings about how him and Bill being the same and there's a reprise about how he's his own man and he's not his father's clone.
Riz probably has a "fitting in" song (like more than survive from BMC) somewhere that ends with him meeting the bad kids
Just spent 30 minutes planning how a Fantasy High musical would go in my head

#I wish we had gotten a Wen Ruohan song too#it'd be a heavy metal ballad
tbh i think a-Yao's song sounds more like a Lana del Rey song lol
something epic about losing oneself to delusions and slowly falling apart into insanity
Wen Chao's song: a heartbreaking lament of a son that all he wanted was to be loved by his dad
Wang Lingjiao's song: a girlboss tune about being a lowborn woman with low spiritual power who climbed to the top of Wen Clan
Wen Zhuliu's song: regret about Yu Ziyuan but also very badass
Su Minshan's song: sadness about never reaching the top
I love the Untamed character songs bc most of them are these amazing themes that speak of the characters passions, fears, ambitions, etc. while matching so well their personalities… And then you have the villain’s songs.
Xue Yang, with a harrowing, hauntingly beautiful requiem for Xiao Xingchen.
