nothing worse than when you see what COULD be a sexy parallel for your favored ship, but to frame it as such would be a misreading of the show's overall themes and character arcs
#okay you know in s5 when buffy is like 'willow said it would be like suicide'#and spike says 'i'd do it. for a person i loved. i'd do it'#that would be SO fun laid over spike agreeing to take on the circle of the black thorn in ats s5 and making eye contact with angel#it would also be fun if you could throw in btvs s2 'i wanna save the world' and him running off with dru#HOWEVER.#UNFORTUNATELY. the whole point of ats s5 is that he stops doing it 'for' angel and instead bc it's the right thing to do#and i think it would be a disservice to throw in his sacrifice in s7 as a parallel too! or at least a betrayal of my own personal readings#but if you didn't think too hard about it? it would be sexy as hell with some cool instrumental laid over it#ughhhhhhhhh WHY must i care about the fidelity of my thematic interpretations of this tv show
