"How do I know if I forgot if I forgot what I forgot?" - me, rn
#the sentence sounds unhinged but it makes sense#i forgot about Dreamcatcher. that i own the book and also its general existence#and i took the book in my hand and went 'Huh? Ohhhh wait yeah ok I get the gist now yeah ok i think I remember its existence now.#Ohhhh I have this book though? I feel like i should know that i have it. I'm pretty sure i read it because a friend once chewed me up#for reading it at his cabin. so i read it at his cabin.'#and it's like ok at this point i can say that although i can't recreate the memory i know that i must have read it and i know that#it was at a new year's cabin. this year presumably? wait that doesn't track.#oh well my point is i know that i read it and even though i kinda forgot that i have it i was able to conceptualise myself as having it#and i was able to realise the basic concept of this book after a bit of time. so does that actually count as forgetting?#see? how do i know if i forget if i forget what i forget and if i don't know what forgetting means?
