#it's been hard trying to get my jacob's ladder thoughts together i love that it's a kind of 70s conspiracy thriller#like i love that in the character's mind he's using this conspiracy to absolve himself of his actions in vietnam#it was a chemical agent that made us behave more aggressively....and now we're being punished biblically for our crimes#like it's so grand it feels right for the character and experiences#but in both movies i appreciate the kind of slow descent#like you're with the characters the whole way you're rooted in their pov ofc everything they do feels normal to themselves#the movies maintain a kind of conviction in the main characters despite hesitance from outside characters#until it's too late to pull out#*
