Blog Posts and Fanfics Update: Canonically Observing 9-1-1 & Fanonwriter2023 on AO3

I haven't done a post like this since after season 6 ended and after season 7 ended earlier this year, I didn't do one because that was a horrific time in the Buddie fandom with all the toxicity and frustrations that were taking place (related post linked here). However, after the way the 8A mid-season finale ended, I took a few days to determine how I was going to participate in fandom during the hiatus because I wasn't happy with a lot of the stuff that happened. I've already posted about the way I wanted to see more Eddie and Chris scenes along with how Eddie wasn't shown going from point A to point B in his decision making regarding him considering a move back to El Paso (linked here).

I'm fully aware it's a setup for Buddie but Eddie's my favorite character and I'm not happy with the limited amount of screen time he received. This is not something I'll go back and forth about and I don't need to be convinced that things "might" be different during the second half of season 8 because IMO, it's always been like this and he's always sidelined while other characters get more and better storylines.

Also, after 8x6 aired and Buck's whatever the hell he was doing with the PLOT DEVICE ended and Eddie was doing something that gave him joy, I was excited to see where the show was going to take Buck's, Eddie's and Chris' storylines (related post linked here). But IMO, 8x7 was a huge waste of time and nothing happened to move any of the main characters' arcs forward and 8x8 spent even more time on side characters who won't be around any longer. With all the editing and pacing issues, the abundance of guest stars and the "Hotshots" storyline that went absolutely nowhere special, the last two episodes seemed to be rushed and not thoroughly planned out. So, needless to say, I wasn't happy with how it ended.

Therefore, I spent the last few days thinking about how I'm going to spend the hiatus because 14 weeks is a long time and I will not spend the next three and a half months rehashing the mediocre parts of episodes 8x1 through 8x8.

Additionally, since I still have a few METAs and speculation WIPs blog posts, occasionally, I'll complete one and post it.

Fanfics

I'm still writing fanfics and I'll post notifications when new chapters are up on AO3 for my two WIPs multi-chapter fanfics and for new Buddie fanfics that I write. Lately, I've been in my Married Buddie Sick!Fic era because I like writing them taking care of each other and I'm back on my Singer!Buck headcanon because I believe Maddie taught Buck how to sing, so I've written another fic about him serenading Eddie. Also, I have five series that are still in progress, so I'll continuously be posting new fanfics as well.

My goal is to start 8B with the same excitement I had after 8x6 ended because I want my fandom experience to be fun again like it was before season 6 ended. I love writing METAs, doing speculation, making GIFs and writing fanfic and I'm planning to keep doing those things but I won't spend my time between now and March 6th rehashing the past because I'm looking forward to Buddie CANON.

Ngl, most of my fav fics that I've written are the ones that I haven't published yet. But I'll go with the current WIPs posted on ao3 :)

House of Memories (dpxdc, Dick/Danny)

This fic comes to my mind first. I think one of the reasons why I have a soft spot for this one, in particular, is because this is the first fic that I felt I truly succeeded in writing angst. My first MCD fic as well. And I remember I've always wanted to write AU Soulmates for so long and this was the result. Plus I love Dick and wanted to give him more attention. Bonus is that I haven't seen many dpxdc fics where it is set to Dick is Robin.

Legacy (dpxdc, Danny & Jason. Biodad!Jason)

I love Jason. And I also love the thought of exploring Father-Son relationship between Jason and Danny (I'm used to reading deaged Danny, but there's something cathartic writing when it's Danny as a teenager while Jason, in his mid30s, exasperated at his son. That's the dynamic I want to explore) No joke that I immensely enjoy writing about Jason feeling guilty of not being there for Danny (and not knowing he existed). Last I checked, the draft for the next chapter of Legacy is around 4k words (I just havent gotten around editing it). Plus it's set where Jason is Batman, a trope that is not much explored in the dpxdc.

Two of a Kind (dpxdc, Jason & Danny, Halfa!Jason)

I will always be grateful to Kaida for bringing this idea to life of Jason being the second Halfa. I love the idea of Danny having a trusted adult he can come to this time. There's so many I want to gush about this, especially Jason's complicated issues with Vlad. You'll find Jason in this fic interesting because he has different priorities while feeling guilty at the same time. Plus we get some flashbacks (*nods to Red Hood: Lost Days*). Plus I also ADORE where this fic is set to Post-Infinite Crisis.

Dynasty | Loving You Was Like Dancing without Music (ATLA, Sokka/Zukko)

I remember the intense research I did for this fic. I have a separate word doc of writing the history and Fire Nation "legal documents". Even got 3 docs of flashbacks for Sokha, Mai, and Zuko (overall wc: 5k). And the fic is inspired from my fav kdrama show at all times so that's one of the reasons why I enjoy writing this fic.

Danny the Intern (dpxdc, GEN)

Ngl, I debated back and forth with this one because I have mixed feelings about this fic nowadays, but I can never forget the intense planning and outline for this fic and the 2 months I spent writing the buffer chapters just so I could be ahead of this fic. Part of why I enjoy writing this fic is that it's a Case fic. A mystery going on that I'm excited to eventually reveal, which I've been keeping my mouth shut for 11 months now. Currently, ch 6-11 have an overall 13k words. If it goes according to plan, Danny the Intern fic will be updated either this halloween or next month (for the 1 yr anniversary of DtI)

Yes! I try to respond to every single comment! They took the time to give me a comment, why wouldn't I take the time to thank them for it?

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

That's tough, because I always try to give hellcheer a happy ending - they deserve it! But Release My Inner Fantasy, despite being almost purely smut, definitely has the angstiest ending. (although it might be slightly cheating since it is part of an ongoing series, and I do intend to give them an eventual happy ending)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Again, I love to write happy endings! So most of my fics are very happy at the close. But Hooked on a Feeling might be my most sappy-sweet ending. It's definitely one of my more lighthearted fics!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

honestly, no! the hellcheer fandom overall has been very kind to me. the closest I get to hate on fics is people wishing/asking me to do something different than I've already done (i.e. write an alternate ending because they didn't want A or B in it), which can be very discouraging. but I don't get that a lot!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! However, I had never written actual smut in my life until this year, so I'm still pretty new at it

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not really. The closest I've ever gotten to a crossover is crossover elements loosely integrated in a fic. Devil in the Woods, for example, uses bits and pieces from things like little red riding hood and beauty and the beast while remaining very much its own thing!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of! And I'd very much like to keep it that way

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

i don't think so! but i'd be honored if somebody did

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I haven't, but I have a lovely friend who betas for me on occasion and we bounce ideas back and forth so much it sometimes feels like cowriting ( @slumped-in-the-arms-of-fiction )

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I intend to finish every single wip I have going atm (As well as a few on the back burner lol). but sometimes it feels like i'm never going to finish them, especially when i'm on the very last chapters. why does it always work like that???

16. What are your writing strengths?

I feel like i'm pretty good at writing intimate scenes. and by that i mean scenes where not a lot's going on, where a small group of characters (usually two) can be together or have a conversation that doesn't do much for the plot but sheds a lot of light on the characters themselves (both to the readers and within the story between characters)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm very undisciplined with writing habits, i don't write every day or have certain goals. i struggle to describe people and scenery in a concrete way that is integrative with the story itself.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

find a native speaker and get (and listen to) their feedback. whether it's tenses, phrases, or cultural tendencies, let someone who's actually the expert be the expert.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

hellcheer! unless you count me scribbling in my journal when i was about eight, writing a boxcar children story because i'd heard that they employed ghost writers and i thought "i could do that!" i wrote like half a dozen sentences, convinced i was going to become employed by the boxcar children publisher.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

honestly? probably Devil in the Woods. it's the one i go back to the most when i need a comfort read.

I'm doing well, I just got home and ate some cucumber slices! (and chugged like 2 full bottles of water lmao)

I have a ton of writing ideas rn. Like- I think there are 100+ vague ideas written in my notes app, and at least 30 active wips. I keep switching back and forth between them, chipping away at each one slowly but surely 🫡 (gonna end up finishing all of them at once or smt, idk)

Some of the ones that I've been working on the most are:

Bartender reader x Gaz after a bad breakup (it's gonna end up being like 5 parts if I ever decide to post it, shit goes crazy in that one)

Firefighter Valeria (I finally got it started instead of letting it rot in my head 🙌 I don't even know how many parts that would end up being)

Transmasc cbf Gaz x transmasc reader (really don't know where I'm going with this one)

I also have a handful of platonic and romantic Ghost x reader ficlets floating around, might finish some of those up at some point.

And I know I mentioned a hybrid poly 141 x reader fic a while ago- that one is technically finished, but I'm not happy with it yet so I might go back and revise it

And nah, I've never received requests on this blog. Probably because I haven't posted a ton of my writing + I don't even have a pinned post so my blog is like. Impossible to navigate 💀✋️

I used to take requests on my other blog tho! I stopped after my hyperfixation on cod took over (plus I got like a shit ton of requests in one night and got intimated by it, never looked at them again)

I haven't even deleted the old requests from my inbox even tho some of them are from as far back as September. I have a couple of drafts for some of those, so I'm just holding on to them in case I randomly get motivated to write for those requests again. Probably won't happen, but who knows?

I've definitely written a lot more since I stopped taking requests tbh. Well, on this blog at least. I haven't posted any writing of my own on my main blog since January 😶

honestly no, this just fuels my whole "tsundere who doesn't make eye contact" jihoon delusions anyways >:) there's just smth so tantalizing about a man that could easily pin you down but he's submissive as hell (looking at you mingyu) ahem but anyways...

I think he'd be such a brat. Ignoring you because you're interrupting his valuable work or rest time. Which you're really not, you just wanted to check in — make sure he's taking care of himself and whatnot. You're not even bothering him, really! All you do is ask if he's eaten or had anything to drink, tidy up the stack of papers on the desk, and hum a little to your favorite song he composed.

His eyebrows are furrowed, jaw tense as he follows you at a much slower pace, glaring at how often you bend over to pick things up around his cluttered room. It's kind of cute — how he pouts — similar to a puppy dog's behavior. But he's silent. Scowling. You'd think he was actually seething in anger if you didn't know him better. But you do. He's obeying so well, knowing he's not allowed to utter a single word until you sweetly ask what's bothering him.

"I'm not a child. You don't need to clean up after me."

"Oh, but I do." It takes only a mere second to have a well-manicured finger sliding along the sharp length of his jawline. Reaching his chin, you tilt his head upwards, though he still refuses to look you in the eyes. "Baby boy likes it when I clean up the mess he leaks all over the bedsheets, doesn't he? But that's something only good boys deserve, I suppose."

You don't wait for his reply (not that he was going to give one anyways) and continue your harmless organizing before taking a seat at his desk chair. Jihoon's standing where you left him, fingers curled into fists at his side, a tent already forming in his black jeans at the sight of you sinking comfortably into the leather where you belong. You have to laugh, beckoning him forward with your pointer finger.

He comes to stand in front of you and you lean forward with an elbow on your knee, hand cradling your cheek as you give him a once-over. Tongue running along your lips that curl up in a mischievous smile at how Jihoon fidgets under your scrutinizing gaze. A blush creeps up his neck, turning his ears a darling shade of pink because he still refuses to meet your eyes.

"Is this how my sweet boy treats me? The sort of thanks I get for taking care of you?" You goad at him. Knowing that he was only a little bit irritated and more so throwing a hissy fit for fun and games. He wanted you to fuck the attitude and rough day out of him. "Am I receiving the kind of appreciation I deserve?"

Jihoon's on his knees instantly. Crawling closer to your crossed legs, hands hovering before daring to touch them. Waiting. But you click your tongue. Pushing him back with the tip of your toes on his firm chest. He's sitting on the back of his heels on the ground in front of you, wide eyes finally meeting yours in shock.

"Didn't I ask you a question?"

His head dips down apologetically. "How do I make it up to you?"

"Hm." You sit back up in your seat in satisfaction. "Any suggestions?"

"Use my tongue? My face?" He shifts in place, betraying his excitement when you uncross your legs. "Anything you want."

"Anything I want sounds like a good idea." You tease him even more once you spread your legs. "So, edge yourself like the well-behaved boy you are while I touch myself. Do it four times successfully and I'll let you cum inside as a reward, okay?"
