I don't know how widely-accepted it is but yes, there is an idea that pre-flood the Earth was very different--it had a water canopy, a more oxygen-rich atmosphere, and was not titled on its axis relative to the sun, resulting in a much more temperate environment with no change of seasons or extreme weather events. But everything changed when an asteroid attacked.
Theology has gotten boring no one is asking incredibly stupid pointless questions anymore. If Adam and Eve were naked in Eden but Eden had no suffering that means it had to have been a perfectly comfortable temperature for both of them without clothes and, we can assume, if not for the fall, for all mankind. Does this mean a. People preferring different temperatures is a consequence of the fall and in a perfect world there is also a perfect temperature everyone is comfortable at, b. Everyone experiences a different temperature in Eden, or c. Adam and Eve didn't have thermoreceptors.
#i meant to effortpost but i can't be bothered and the joke is too appealing#i'm going to be real i don't know how much of this is an actual unified position held by lots of people#and how much it is things i heard and glued together in my brain#but anyway my thought is that probably what you heard was based on the idea that an asteroid was the mechanism that caused the flood#it punched a hole through the water canopy fractured pangaea on impact and tilted the earth's axis#this appeals to me because i love how dramatic it is. love a good horrific catastrophe that alters the world forever#oh and a related idea is that mars used to have an atmosphere and the same asteroid somehow messed it up on its way to earth#as for the leap year thing i guess they must have had some idea about the earth's orbit and being able to divide the days#into years without any left over. but idk
