Entry 12: The One Where We Start Laying the Yellow Brick Road to Italy

I realized the other day that, even though I like to bounce around from place to place in the Lukola timeline, I probably needed to start tightening things up on the ship if I ever wanted to get to the end of the story. And, yes, dammit, this story better have a finale at some point because there’s nothing more annoying than an open-ended ending, particularly in the romance genre.

Today we’re going to take a quick jaunt over to Italy because –

NO! Not because Luke is allegedly filming there. If you’re into real-time stalking, you’re in the wrong blog. But, I’m sure there’s a Discord for that.

It’s because I’ve had several people ask for my opinion about the change in behavior between Luke and Nicola during their Day 1 interviews there. Wait – people are interested in my thoughts? Wow, that’s actually kind of nice. Thank you! Okay, back to what I was saying –

Was there a change in behavior when Luke and Nicola reached Italy? Yeah, actually, there kind of was.

By May 9, we had been gifted with a slew of material from Luke, Nicola, and the Bridgerton cast and, I must admit, those early interviews are some of the most entertaining of the tour. In the very beginning, Nicola appeared as the utmost professional – charming, intelligent, and witty at the right moments – and Luke played her likeable counterpart to “Book Colin” perfection – bouncing between being awkwardly boyish and wickedly roguish, all while looking at Nicola like she had just served him homemade peanut butter crumble.

The two of them together, playing off each other, in my opinion, was better than Bridgerton Season 3 (you cannot beat the World Tour being 99% Luke and Nicola, with only a few random side characters taking up screentime). There was some major “Electric Love” radiating from those two throughout the tour, but it seemed very much heightened in the beginning (probably because they hadn’t yet answered the same question 67 times). By the way, if you haven’t heard that song by Børns, go have a listen. It will, at the very least – hopefully – put you in an upbeat mood for the day.

Now, where was I? Oh, yes – was there a change in behavior between Luke and Nicola when they reached Italy?

Absolutely.

Do I know why?

Absolutely not.

Perhaps Luke was bent because someone spilled his coffee, or Nicola was upset because her stylist made her to wear that little silver bow in her hair. In my opinion, the most intriguing part of Day 1 of the Italy press junket was that Luke and Nicola struggled with answering the question, “What is love?” I swear they both babbled on like two kids in debate class who hadn’t bothered to read the material given to them before taking their respective podiums. They finally seemed to settle on Luke’s “Maybe it’s, like, connection.” Well, they seemed to be missing the “connection” that day.

Honestly, no one can explain their “don’t stand so close to me” vibe during those first day interviews except Luke and Nicola. But, we can at least have some fun and speculate about it with a bird’s eye view. At this point, you should know that I love spreading the puzzle pieces out and seeing how they might all connect. Most people – when putting a puzzle together – start with the side pieces, right? You’ll get my joke in a moment (I hope).

In March 2024 – I don’t know the specific date because my timeline is rather murky going back that far (I was unaware Lukola even existed!) – Luke traveled to Los Angeles for a photo spread with InStyle magazine. I’ve heard two versions of this story. The first being that Luke traveled to Los Angeles with Antonia alone; the second being that he traveled to Los Angeles with his friend group, which included Antonia. I couldn’t tell you which is true, and it really doesn’t matter because it doesn’t necessarily add or take away from today’s story.

Before I get started, I wanted to give a “hurrah” to The-One-Whose-Group-Chat-Fills-in-Lots-of-Missing-Bits-for-Me-Including-the-Part-Where-Video-Footage-of-Antonia-in-Los-Angeles-Seemed-to-Indicate-a-Celebrity-Was-Not-the-Videographer-and-There-Were-So-Many-British-Accents-in-the-Background-One-Would-Fancy-a-Guess-She-was-Traveling-with-a-Group.

Moving along…

On April 7, 2024, Antonia posted a series of photographs and clips to her Instagram grid indicating she had been in Los Angeles, including one where she was laying on a blanket in front of the Griffith Observatory and one where she was sitting at a table marked with the number “95.” On April 14, she posted a second set of photographs, tagging her location as Beverly Hills, California and using “End of Beginning” as her audio (yes, I side-eyed this choice of music so don’t feel bad if you did as well). The second photo dump included her lounging on a rooftop.

I’m not going to delve into posts made by Luke and Nicola during that timeframe. I mean, I’m sure Nicola’s comment, “’Friends’…sure Jan,” on Luke’s April 11 reshared post about Bridgerton Season 3 was only meant to be applicable to Polin. And, if Luke wanted to use yellow and black hearts to represent the colors Nicola and he were wearing in his April 12 post, that’s cool, too. And, I am definitely not going to speculate on Nicola’s April 15 post (for Big Mood) that Luke liked, and she captioned, “I will bite off anything that dangles.”

By April 21, Luke and Nicola were in Australia at the World Premiere of Bridgerton. I am only going to provide a quick overview of Australia instead of a full-fledged recital because, at some point, I will almost certainly dedicate an entry to this country. Let’s start with Luke pulling off the hottest walk-up in Netflix human history (I mean, have you watched it in slow motion?). Then, we had the hard launch of the handholding business (because why again?). And, we had Luke tripping over his words, “We’re very, like, giving…I’m not talking about those scenes…” Oh, and Nicola telling an interviewer that, “[y]ou can’t keep a good girl down,” and, in response, Luke’s lips curling into a wicked-ass Cheshire cat's. We had them in the garden, with Nicola bending down to hug Luke after she had scratched/hit/petted his head. Perhaps I should not mention the possibility of a man’s shirt being visible on a bed behind Nicola (I said possibility not that it was). And, Nicola telling Luke, “You’re the funnier one,” when he was concerned that perhaps Benedict was funnier than Colin. Then we had the “Nicola-in-the-green-dress” day where, as they were going down the steps, Luke seemed to instinctively reach for Nicola’s hand, but she played it cool and took his arm instead. Oh, and that entire “green dress” day in general (I mean, there was so much shit going on that day). And, best we do not forget Nicola saying, “the best foundation for love is friendship,” which mirrored the bracelet “someone…in Australia” gave Luke that read, “Do you believe the best foundation for love is friendship?” Because that’s not suspicious at all. Alright, let’s get the fuck out of Australia – but not before I mention Nicola commenting on Luke’s April 27 Instagram post with “Ready for the next?” and Luke replying, “Absolutely.” Yeah, yeah, yeah, their shenanigans in Australia expanded the USS Lukola tenfold.

Oh, also, let me throw this in here because, if you are a “ring truther,” this fact plays a significant role in the Lukola timeline. If you do not know what a “ring truther” is, that’s perfectly fine. You can catch up by reading Entry 6 (The One Where I Explained the Claddagh Ring to My Dad) of my blog. I mentioned in Entry 6 that some Lukola sleuths have stated the metadata they pulled from the sketches of the Claddagh ring uploaded by Chupi indicate they were done as early as April 26. In other words, it means the Claddagh was likely commissioned between Australia and Italy. In fact, if we are to believe Chupi when it said it took four weeks to make the ring, then it had to have been commissioned by May 9, 2024, at the latest. Oh, lookie there, that’s Day 1 of the Italy interviews.

But, before we get to May 9, let’s pause on April 29. That was the day Luke’s InStyle spread was published – yes, the one I mentioned earlier. Luke has pictures from this photoshoot still on his Instagram grid – in fact, Nicola commented, “Yess dude!!” on them – but those aren’t the pictures I want to talk about. No, I want to talk about the pictures InStyle posted on its Instagram grid that day. These photographs came directly from Luke, which was confirmed by the InStyle article when it said, “…the actor delighted the InStyle team by delivering the polaroid photos he’d taken for this story tucked oh-so-carefully in a little brown bag for safekeeping.” The pictures Luke provided, among others, included one where he was laying on a blanket in front of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles; one where he was sitting at a table marked with the number “95;” and one where he is sitting in a lounge chair on a rooftop. If you want to see the pictures, InStyle still has them available – you just need to go through hundreds of posts to find them. Luke did not like this InStyle post, which was kind of odd because he was tagged in it, and they were reportedly his pictures.

Why did these InStyle polaroids seem so familiar?

Oh, that’s right, because they were.

Remember that April 7 post of Antonia’s I mentioned a bit ago? Yeah, the one where Antonia posted a bunch of random pictures from Los Angeles and – only after InStyle posted Luke’s polaroids – fans realized Antonia had preemptively posted her version of some of Luke’s polaroids.

I am not going to speculate too much about these pictures or their implications in this blog post, but these pictures may resurface in future posts because I find myself side-eyeing the fact they even exist. And, we should probably accept that Luke was aware of them before his pictures came out on April 29 because he threw a like on Antonia’s April 7 post. Could it have been a “blind” like? Sure, I guess, but the logical side of my brain says he probably looked through them at the time she posted. Let’s not worry too much about it right now, though.

After trying to write out my “general” opinion about the pictures several times, I finally decided that the best way I could articulate my thoughts was through the conversation I had with my father. Yes, Dear Dad returns again for another insightful Q&A.

I started by showing Luke and Antonia’s three “matchy” pictures to my dad and then asked him to compare them. To be clear, the pictures were their respective Griffith Observatory, Table 95, and Rooftop Lounging pictures.

Me: “So what do you think?”

Dad: “About what?”

Me: “Ugh! Why did Antonia take those pictures?”

Dad: “Well, to show she’s part of the ‘in’ crowd. The only reason I can see them being taken is if she was going to put them on the Internet.”

Me: “Uhh, as a matter of fact, she did put them on the Internet! Approximately three weeks before Luke’s were published.”

Dad: “See! I’m not as dumb as you think.”

Me: “Whatever. So, you really believe that? She took them to show people that she was, like, there?”

Dad: “Yeah. Why else would she take them? They’re not the kind of photos you’d take normally. What’s she going to do, put them in an album and show her friends in five years and say, ‘Look, I sat in Luke’s chair?’ Who does that? Nobody. Plus, Luke’s pictures look like they were taken with a polaroid camera and Antonia took hers with, I guess, a phone. Why use two different cameras? Again, it doesn’t make sense. Seems to me like she knew what pictures he was taking, and she was trying to copy them so she could put them on the Internet.”

Thanks, Dad.

You do not have to accept my father’s thoughts on the photographs. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, I think we can meet in the middle and opine that, at a minimum, Antonia’s pictures caused the weak Lukolas to jump overboard; at most, they gave some people stalker vibes; and somewhere in between, they introduced Antonia's negative influence over the fandom and what some may consider trolling behavior (even if it wasn’t recognized then).

Now, before we land in Italy on May 9, let’s summarize what has happened during the preceding two months.

First, we had Luke traveling to Los Angeles in March with Antonia, either alone or as part of a friend group. Luke had pictures of himself taken while there.

Second, we had Antonia posting pictures in early April that would be linked directly to Luke’s pictures by the end of the month.

Third, throughout the month of April, we had Luke and Nicola traveling together for the World Tour. We have all seen these interviews, and we have all formed independent opinions about them.

Fourth, based on Chupi’s own words, we know the Claddagh ring must have been commissioned no later than May 9.

Okay, now we’ve reached May 9, Day 1 of the Italy press junket.

Besides the press interviews, what happened on that day?

Well, Antonia reposted Luke singing Coldplay’s “Yellow” to her TikTok account.

Uhh… Huh. Interesting.

I mean, it’s possible that this was just a coincidence and she just liked Luke’s version of it. Or, it’s possible Antonia knew that “Yellow” was the Polin wedding song and she anticipated trolling Nicola and/or the fandom with it. But, if we believe she knew “Yellow” was the Polin wedding song, that means either Luke told her, or someone with that knowledge told her (i.e., someone from Luke’s team or family/friend group). We also know that Luke mentioned this song in the May 16, 2022 Netflix Tudum article when Nicola and he were asked about their song choices for Season 3. Luke stated his frontrunner was “Yellow” by Coldplay “because of Penelope’s dresses.” Regardless of why Antonia posted the song, I find it hard to imagine Netflix, Bridgerton, Shondaland, Nicola, or Luke were too impressed by Antonia resharing it on TikTok. I mean, at this point, Netflix & Co. would surely have been aware that Antonia’s “copycat post” went over with the fandom like a wet blanket in December in Canada. I imagine some questions were being asked and Luke may very well have received a hand slap from Corporate – and maybe even from Nicola.

But, that’s not the only thing that happened on May 9.

Luke posted his Homme magazine spread to his Instagram grid on that day, too. He captioned the post, “Chatting through all things S3 with @hommeplusmag [o]ut next week x.” Nicola commented, “Yessss,” and Luke tagged his post with the location of Hackney, London. That last part – about Luke tagging the location in Hackney – apparently sent the fandom into a deep-dive of…Nicola’s backyard. Why? Because Nicola lives in Hackney (Nicola herself confirmed she lived in Hackney in a March 18, 2024 interview with Derry Now), and rumors started to circulate that Luke’s pictures were taken at her home.

Hmm, I didn’t realize May 9 was such a busy day, did you?

So, which came first – the chicken or the egg? Did Antonia repost “Yellow” to her TikTok before Luke posted his Homme in Hackney images to Instagram, or vice versa? I’m sure someone out there has this information. The answer might help shine some light as to why Luke and Nicola seemed “off” in the early part of their Day 1 Italy interviews. But, then again, does the order really matter? Regardless of who posted first, it would seem to me that “Yellow” was a very possible culprit for the different energy on set that day.

That, or Luke really was peeved over someone spilling his coffee.

Strauss asking reader into her office to talk about the tiktoks reader made about Hotch? 🤭

You haven't even greeted the team before Strauss sends you an email, asking you to meet her in her office as soon as you get in. You can't help but feel annoyed at the message, dropping your stuff off in a huff on your desk.

When you knock on her opened door, you see Aaron sitting in one of the chairs across from her, eyebrows raised when he sees you enter. "You wanted to see me?"

Strauss nodded, gesturing to you to come inside. As you shut the door behind you, she continued. "I wanted to talk to you and Agent Hotchner about a few videos you posted that are questionable."

Immediately you know what she's talking about. Glancing at Aaron with fear in your eyes, you saw his lips twitching, fighting back a smile. You don't know whether to be embarrassed and mortified or annoyed he isn't as worried as you.

Clearing your throat, you turned back to your boss's boss, slowly sitting down in the chair next to Aaron. "What videos?"

You see Aaron cover his lips with his hand when Strauss pulls out her laptop, a video you made from your TikTok account on the screen. Without a single word, she hits play and Umbrella fills the office as you lip sync to it with Aaron in the background looking up after a second and a smile forming on his face.

In the caption you've written, "When he's a 6'2", 45-year-old criminal profiler in a suit and tie." while lip-syncing the "Come into me" part of Rihanna's song. When the video ends, you look over at Aaron and see he's expressionless. You start to panic.

"Oh ... That one. I see." you said, inwardly slapping yourself for the answer. Strauss

raised an eyebrow. "What about it?"

"There's more," Strauss replied, ignoring your question as she clicks on another video.

You can't help but cringe as the sound plays very loudly. When the video finishes, she raises an eyebrow. "Now what did you mean when you said 'catch me on that dick tryna ride like a rodeo' with a picture of Agent Hotchner?”

You can't help the awkward laugh that escapes you because despite not knowing if you're in trouble or not, Strauss saying dick made you giggle. "Technically, I didn't say it. It was the song."

"You wrote it in the caption, didn't you?"

“. .. Yeah."

Silence fills the room and before you can ask, she pulls up a video of you filming

Aaron-who was well aware of the video, by the way, with the caption "Him in a beard >>" and the sound of dogs barking as the audio. You hear a nearly inaudible laugh from the man sitting next to you but you don't dare look.

Strauss clicks on another TikTok, but instead of a video, it was photos in a slideshow. You had to bite your tongue when the "Get destroyed or get destroyed" caption showed up along with a picture of Aaron with his tie undone. This was truly the weirdest, most embarrassing, and funniest shit you've gotten in trouble for.

When Strauss doesn't continue showing you videos you made about how hot your boss is—there's so much more, so much that someone might think you're dating—you meet her eyes and give her an apologizing look. "I'm sorry, I didn't know this was against policy."

"It's not," Aaron answers, speaking for the first time since you entered the room. "What did you want to talk to us about, Erin?"

She sighed, closing her laptop. "Aaron, I've told you before, there's no reason to hide this relationship. It's better to tell me what's going on other than have someone else find out and have another sexual harassment meeting again."

"Oh, he and I aren't—" you start to say, gesturing between you and Aaron.

"No, but you'd like to be." Strauss cuts you off, eyes narrowing at Aaron. “There's no policy against coworkers dating but there are rules if you start dating your subordinate."

Aaron nods, glancing briefly at you before speaking. "And what are those rules?"

"You must BCC your emails to each other to someone in HR, and complete the sexual harassment training segment again," she responded.

"Alright," Aaron replies, nodding once again.

You're dumbfounded when she dismisses the both of you, eyes flickering back to Aaron as you walk out of her office. Once you're back at your desk, you turned to him. "Well that was embarrassing.

He snorted. "Not as embarrassing as Bob from HR will be when he reads our emails."

You blinked. "What?"

Aaron smiled, slowly backing up from your desk as he made his way to his office. "We'll have to BCC him in our chats, honey."

"My love" Fran said as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you closer. "I can finish the dishes, it's ok".

"No I got it" you said as you began drying off some of the plates. "Besides you must be tired after yesterday's wrap party".

"It was fun, you need to come to the next one" he said as he brushed your hair aside to kiss your neck softly. "I missed you alot, the others were asking for you".

"I'll be at the next one babe, I promise" you answered setting the plate down and turning to face him. Fran was beautiful and you couldn't believe how lucky you were. You wrapped your arms around him and rested your forehead against his. "I think you need a second helping of that dessert you made. You need it". Fran smirked and kissed your nose.

"I said you don't need to ever worry about me. I promise, I'm going to be ok" he answered.

"Oh I got you something, to celebrate the film being done" you said going to pull away.

"No wait, just one more second, I want to stay like this forever with you" he said enjoying the moment, he felt he could be anywhere in the world but as long as he was with you he was home. You smiled and held onto him a little tighter.

"You did not have to get me something. I already have everything I need, I'm very lucky like that you know. Can carry everything I'll ever need in my hands" he smirked as he picked you up, catching you off guard.

"Fran!" You laughed as you instinctively wrapped your legs around his waist. "O my gosh put me down, I need to go and get your present". You looked down into his beautiful deep eyed and cupped his cheeks and began kissing him. He had the softest lips and skin. He kissed you deeper savouring the taste of your peach flavoured lip balm. Peaches were his favourite fruit. A fact you'd noted quite early on. You remembered the look of surprise and satisfaction on his face the day he'd realised your lip balm was the same flavour as his favourite fruit.

"Fran... I need... to get... your gift" you said between kisses. "Please mi amor". Fran smiled against your neck, there was something extremely hot about you using Spanish pet names for him. He was so in love with you it was unreal.

"Just one more my dear, please" he begged staring up at you. How could you say no to him? You lent down and kissed him, twice though. It was a small little ritual the two of you had. He would always ask for one more kiss whether it was before going off to sleep, before he would leave for set or an audition or before going on stage. You always kissed him twice just to be safe. He gently set you down and stroked your cheek.

"Te amo, mi amor" he smiled.

"I love you more" you answered before squeezing his hand and leaving. He heard you going upstairs and into the second bedroom. He was excited at the prospect of seeing what you'd got him although he was more excited to see your face at his gift for you. He smiled wider as he placed his hand into his trousers pocket and felt the box with an engagement ring inside.

Funny idea for you but like imagine a time skip of ShoLeoMc just chilling in bed until Leo suggests "We should go to a haunted house and film our reactions."

"What's wrong with the one we live in?" (Referring to Zenji who is the unofficial roommate)

Both Sho and Leo stare at MC, "What do you mean? MC, what do you mean by that?!" While MC falls asleep.

Sho was not aware of anything at all in their home what the fuck do you mean there are ghosts here. They live in a modern house. There's no way anybody died here, Leo spoke to the previous owners before they bought it. Wake the fuck back up and explain yourself.

Meanwhile Leo is groaning so it was a fucking ghost???? Like, he figured from all the cold spots in the house and the weird noises he was always hearing whenever he spies on the neighbors that maybe there was a ghost here but. Ugh, PC clearly brought a ghost with them from somewhere.

They've probably dealt with worse shit than ghosts so I don't think they'd be scared or worried or anything--if the PC knows the ghost then it's probably not a threat(aside to being a threat to Leo's ears and ability to sleep at night because stop making noises I hate you) but like. They are definitely gonna have a conversation about bringing stray anomalies into the house in the morning.

(And to answer their question, Leo clarifies that the ghost in their house is not scary. It's just annoying and a little noisy and he's gotten too used to it to get any good reactions out of it. Not even noisy enough to be a poltergeist, just like. Sometimes he hears Zenji moving things around. In rare instances he hears him talking when he uses his stigma, which is super annoying when he's trying to hear other things. Oh, and the music the PC said must have been the neighbors? Did they really think he couldn't tell that was coming from inside their own house? Did the ghost die sucking at the biwa because that'd explain why he hasn't gotten any better. Leo is extremely critical of their "roommate", but he knows well enough that ghosts aren't really threatening anomalies in and of themselves so he doesn't care as long as Zenji keeps the noise to a minimum. Sho, meanwhile, asks when Zenji's gonna start paying rent. Can the ghost eat?)

what do you even mean? As in public or private? Cause privately you don't know anything and if she stayed with him for years clearly he was doing something right. If you mean in public, first of all how do you know Taylor needed support and how do you know when she needed it? Did you expect him to drop everything and go to every single event of hers? Which is kind of hard given that she's constantly doing things and he has a job unlike what you all think. And he did supported her by the way they way

Why was he resentful of her success?

which awards shows exactly are you referring to? Because the usual examples swifties give were on dates he was working. Funny you should mention the Grammys cause he was in the backstage of the 2022 Grammys, when even the relationship was mostly likely dead. If you mean the 2021 Grammys, he was filming. There was a pandemic and travel restrictions. Even if he could have gone, he would have to stay in quarantine before and after obviously messing up the filming schedule

Why did he party in her house whilst ignoring her all the time?

I'm sick of this party story you all got from out of nowhere. And apparently somehow even for the scope he ignored her at said party. First of all, they were living together on that house, as much as you think otherwise it wasn't her house. It was their house, as partners of years who already lived together anyway. He was not a high school kid having to ask for permission from his parents to throw a party. So if he did use the house to throw a party, it's not this outrageous thing you make it out to be. Let me remind you Taylor met and was friend with his co-stars aswell.

Why did he want her to not be as famous as she is now while Travis is very open to it?

Again, who told you he didn't want her to be famous? Present - Club in Spain

A few drivers had decided to go clubbing after the Grand Prix, you included. It was a well known place in Barcelona with deafening music that left a ring in your ears.

You were having fun dancing, drinking, and talking with Carlos and Lando on the dance floor when somebody caught your eye.

It was Leclerc, but he had brought along a girl with him. The girl he was rumoured to be dating after breaking up with Charlotte last year.

You shrugged it off and continued to have fun with your friends. The shots were quickly taking over your body, and suddenly everything was funny. Was Lando always this silly?

You barely noticed when Leclerc and the girl joined you guys on the dance floor. You introduced yourself to the girl and felt the urge to hug her. You embraced her and she laughed at your drunken state before dancing with you.

You asked Carlos to pour you another shot when a hand stopped him.

" Mate I think she's had enough yeah?" Charles quickly interrupted, obviously annoyed at you and Carlos' behaviour.

You roll your eyes, very much annoyed with his words. Did he think you couldn't handle more or something?

" I can manage for myself, Leclerc. You're not my fucking dad." you fumed.

" Nah if he were your dad he'd probably be giving you drills right now. And he'd be an asshole." Lando giggled, drinks kicking in for him too.

You gasp at Lando's words before giving in to the drinks.

" Well Leclerc's got the asshole part perfected."

Charles gave you the biggest unamused face, which made you and Lando giggle even more.

" If I really was your dad I wouldn't even be near you, and you'd be scared to confront me like that." he scoffed.

" Fuck off Leclerc." you annoyingly replied. What a way to ruin your mood.

He rolled his eyes and left with the girl who gave you a quick smile. You soon lost them in the crowd.

Poor her, you thought. She must be so done with him. You let out an exasperated sigh and said your goodbyes to Lando and Carlos.

" Why so soon?" Lando complained.

" Blame Leclerc, I can't stand him. Does he think I can't handle myself or something?"

" I don't know what's up with him." Carlos admitted, looking in the distance intensely.

When making your way to the exit, you spotted Charles and the girl again. Smiling and laughing. Seeing him happy low-key made you even more annoyed and pissed.

You left the club and headed back to your hotel by taxi.

Y/N POV

I was now staring at the ceiling above my bed, wondering why Leclerc seemed on good terms with everyone but me. He had to have a reason.

Monaco and Canada were of course the biggest turning points, but I genuinely thought we could maybe overcome it. I was wrong.

Charles was still an asshole and I was more than happy to return the favour.

A part of me of course wished that our friendship had survived, but I started to think it was for the best. Charles and I had both drastically changed since our debut year in F1. In addition, it only meant less distractions. That was the last thing my thirst for winning needed.

He was with Ferrari, the team Max and I had to beat. It only made sense to dislike him. But then there was Carlos... I guess it was okay to be friends with Carlos because he was less of a threat. It only made sense.

I woke up in the middle of the night because of a recurring nightmare I had. It always had to do with either my dad or a severe crash. It always left me with headaches and freezing.

When it happened I usually got up to grab a drink and a blanket then went back to sleep, without the promise of not waking up a second time in the night. Most times I was lucky and slept rather well after.

For the upcoming Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Max and I had to film a quick video where we had to answer questions about each other while cooking Italian national dish; Ragu alla Bolognese.

The video was hilarious because we had trouble with questions like favourite colour or middle name, but then we knew the other's worst memory as a child without blinking.

Our dishes were far from perfect, but we decided to eat them anyways. While I thought the cameras weren't turning, I spoke.

" You know, Max, I'm really greatful to have you in my life. I mean, I don't think anybody else knows me this well- not even my dad... Well obviously." I say, awkwardly giggling.

" Well I think Charles must know you better than I do, no?" Max questioned.

" Ha, I don't think so. We've both changed so much, I don't even recognize him sometimes."

I truthfully say.

" I think Charles can also be stressed since he's got a lot of pressure from Ferrari," tried to empathy Max.

" It's no reason to be a total jackass to me, especially since I'm the only one he's acting this way with". I argued.

" Well I-"

" No but seriously. He's way nicer with you and you're a RedBull driver like me..." I continue annoyingly. " I can't stand when people dislike me, I have enough hate through media alone. Way more than enough." I confess sadly.

Max considered my words.

" I find you really brave to still perform under all that pressure and all those pricks trying to get in your head," Max avowed.

A rare compliment from Verstappen which I accepted with open arms, literally.

I hugged him tightly and thanked him for his words. It was short but meaningful, and soon we were both staring at your plates.

" This pasta tastes like ass not gonna lie." Max admited, looking at his dish.

I laughed loudly, and offered him some of my better Bolognese.

We ate and laughed, and I had a genuine smile plastered on my face the whole time.

Twice’s 10th member is overworked

It was another day with thousands of things to do on her schedule, from a meeting with JYP (sorry I always imagine it whispered lol) to practice with the girls she calls her sisters. She can't take it anymore but knows there's no other option besides slaying and praying that she doesn't faint from exhaustion. 

As she gets to the meeting with PD-nim he greets her in such an excited way she wants to slap him -with respect, or not- 

JYP - Hey Y/N! How are you doing?

Y/N - I'm fine PD-nim and hope you're too. Not meaning to rush you but, what's this meeting about?

JYP - Well, I noticed you're receiving a lot of good comments about you're dancing so we agreed that you're the best to film the challenges on TikTok for Set Me Free!!

Y/N - Really? But I already got so much to do, any of the girls could do it perfectly

JYP - I guess... however, this could disappoint the fans, don't you think so? 

 Y/N - Okay. I'll do it for the fans!

JYP - That's the spirit! But don't leave yet, we need to talk about your schedule

Y/N - What about it?

At the moment the only thing Y/N had in mind was how good it would be if some of the events she has were cancelled. She's at her breaking point and no one seems to notice.

JYP - We got some modelling with A'pieu for the new collection they're planning to release, isn't that amazing?

Y/N - I'm tired JYP-appa... Can't you deny it? It's too much

JYP - I get you Y/N but this is an incredible opportunity for the group, not only you but the girls too, denying this could affect the rest of TWICE.

With all the love she's feeling Y/N finally let go and starts crying, it was so overwhelming and now her sisters are there making her remember she has people she can rely on. Dahyun is the first one to get near enough to engulf their maknae in a warm hug that the others soon join.

Nayeon - More than you could ever know sweetheart. 

Y/N - Tysm unnies, it's just 'cause I couldn't take it anymore. There's too much to do, I can't even sleep and eat well, it's been a while...

Jeongyeon - What do you mean babe? You're stopped eating since when?

Jihyo - This doesn't answer the question Y/N L/N, respond right now.

Y/N - It's been 3 days but it's good, I'm perfectly okay!

When these words left their maknae's mouth they couldn't even reply, all of them full of thoughts about how they didn't notice and how they're horrible unnies. They should have seen it coming, their baby always got home late, bags under her eyes and her body becoming thinner each day that passed along the week. Her eyes were full of emotion but her words said the contrary, each day she came to the dorm saying the same "I'm fine, good night unnies.". It was clear and they were blind, the unnies could only feel more stupid as each second inside their own minds passed. The first reaction after some time was to be angry, but they couldn't do anything about it, they took so long that the maknae fell asleep, as she must. 

Jihyo - I can't believe I didn't see it, girls! Let's divide ourselves, some of us go to talk with PD-nim and the others go take her to bed at the dorm. Who wants to do what?

Mina - I wish I could stay with her but I already called it, I'm gonna make this man's life miserable :)

Sana - Amen to that honey. I'll go to the dorm.

Dahyun - We from the SMC are tired from school, we wanna go to the dorm unnie.

Momo - I'll go to the dorm so I can carry the kid!

Jihyo - Okay, then the rest of the unnie line stays here with me.

Jeongyeon - Perfect, let's move girls, JYP must be ready to leave and we need to get there before he goes.

As the unnie line beside Momo left, the others got to work and fixed the practice room and their bags so they could head to the dorm. After calling their manager and informing them of what happened, Momo got near Y/N and gave her a kiss on the head before lifting her bridal style ('cause Y/N's princess ✨) and got to the van. She put Y/N on her lap so it'd be easier to lift her when they arrived, Dahyun to the right and Tzuyu to the left. The maknae line all slept till they stopped at the front of the dorm. Momo woke up the girls, beside Y/N, and carried her to the SMC room laying her near Dahyun that was sitting there waiting for their maknae.

After Chaeyoung and Tzuyu took a bath, they stayed with Y/N so Dahyun could shower too. When they all laid down they felt warm because of the puppy pile and soon fell asleep again. When Momo got there she could only coo quietly and take a photo to send on the group chat. As the unnie line saw the photo after screaming and dissing JYP-nim, they felt at peace with everything again and could only think: 

We love our dear maknaes.

hahah terrible question for me to answer because i know this will probably change in the near future! i've watched a regrettably tiny amount of productions so far, but out of all of these i'm honestly super torn! 98 film is super dear to my heart as i've watched it upwards of a hundred times and know it front to back. 2005 moscow was strangely enchanting for me to watch because i'm a huge language lover and to hear cats in a language i'm familiar with was striking (the same with det ny teater danish cats!). tecklenburg has a special place in my heart because of the arc munkustrap has in there, and the costuming is fantastic in a "i didn't say it was Good, i said i Liked it" way LOL. i'm really hyped to watch vienna, broadway revival and shiki! so on the fence about this one! :3

💛 What's your favorite familial ship?

no contest, tugger & munkustrap. they're so very brothers to me. i always did read them that way, but a close friend recently commented that he'd always thought they had some sort of ex-boyfriends thing going on and i found that just too funny!! like yeah okay that's fair i could see that, shout out tuggerstrap LOL... but i like interpreting them as siblings with a relationship that's very... can i say authentic when they're both cats? especially the more productions i watch the more i'm deadset on thinking of them that way. them whacking each other and hanging out together and getting on each other's nerves makes me so happy. i write so many things about them just bantering and sticking their tongues out at each other and also being willing to kill for each other. it's just that sort of vibe to me!

🎷 Have you ever seen Cats live? If more than once, which was your favorite?

i never have, though i dream of it (and have had dreams of it) to no end! it must be a magical experience. i'm on the lookout, though - if i spot a production in poland or somehow in the baltic states, i will without fail go through hell and highwater to get myself a seat or a dozen. sadly those are about the only countries i could theoretically travel to for a cats prod, and i've never heard of a production there aside from the polish one. then again, i'm translating cats to lithuanian - and though there's virtually no chance of it going anywhere, to hear the musical performed in my native language would actively change my life, i think. :) perhaps one day!

With Breakfast at Tiffany's, a cliche or not, does it matter? It's too iconic. Yes, it has a reputation and good material for specific tumblr/pinterest aesthetics, but for good reason. If we take all that aside, we're still left with something of value, given that it's also an adaption of a Capote novel.

There's so much to talk about Audrey Hepburn that it requires a separate post. I don't think Hollywood had another actress like her or even coming close to that kind of presence. She was a movie star in her own category. Anyway, I never became a fan of Gregory Peck (I didn't go and search his films) but damn the guy was hot. Can I have a Roman Holiday too? Just like that? 😄

Alain Delon in Plein Soleil is a sin. And a perfect summer film. With this guy, I have to manage to separate the actual person and his political beliefs from the star he was in the 60s. Same with Brigitte Bardot. Ignore and store that in the back of my head so I can enjoy the films.

As to your questions, I could never get into the Jarmusch vibe, although I did watch a few of his films. I don't have anything against him he's good and a true artist, but it doesn't match with my taste. With Wim Wenders, I know Wings of Desire, Paris, Texas, The American Friend, Pina. Again, it's the type of director that has his place in film history, but I never focused particularly on him.

I reblogged this ask game before reading any of the questions, and after receiving your ask, I read them and now I have to say that my questions are probably gonna be very, VERY underwhelming ::D So don't get too excited, cos I don't think I'm able to give you the type of answers you might be interested in reading :D But I'll try anyway, but know that you're been warned: boredom alert!!!

when I started shipping it if I did: Must have been in 2009 when I found out about die ärzte for the first time. I watched every video I could find, including Richy Guitar. At first I didn't really care about the film, and I wasn't exactly shipping R/I but more of obsessing with the clips because of my new Bela/Farin obsession. I got way more into the ship only during the past 2 or 3 years, when I also started writing fanfiction about them, and then it evolved into drawing doodles and comics too.

my thoughts: Uh, what can I say? Head empty, no thoughts. My brain keeps hyperfixating on this ship for no good reason.

How I feel about this character: Idk.

All the people I ship romantically with this character & My non-romantic OTP for this character: I honestly don't know if it's romantic or queerplatonic or just platonic, but I only ship him with Richard.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I have none. I don't think there are even popular opinions about this character out there.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish to know where does he live. I keep thinking about that caravan inside the abandoned factory, and I keep headcanoning it as Igor's residence but I wish I knew whose place that actually was (the other option is Hans, but yeah, it's never revealed in the film).

You asked about Monty Python characters. I guess it is possible, but just very very difficult because there are not that many reoccuring characters, and the Flying Circus show ran for 4 seasons and there are several films, so the character count could be in hundreds tbh. Often the skits are also more about the joke and topic and less about characters, even when they're often given names. But as I'm writing this, I can feel a potential list cooking inside my head so, here we go!

The Gumbys. My favourite quote comes from these skits: "My brain hurts!" I can't find that as a gif now, but they are these extremely, extremely stupid characters who shout every line of theirs cos they are so dumb. Here's the Brain Specialist skit where that quote is from too :D

2. The Hell's Grannies. This is just the funniest shit ever and I absolutely love the graffiti they paint as a graffiti and which goes: "Make tea, not love." Here's a link to a video on youtube.

3. Anne Elk (Miss). I just keep rewatching this skit over and over again cos it's so stupid, and the characters just interact with each other in such a funny way, and Graham's character's reactions to Anne Elk are so funny :D

4. Pontius Pilate in Life of Brian. Ok this movie is full of extremely funny characters, and I would like to mention a handful of others, such as the deaf and stupid character and his companion who's stuttering the whole time; and also that man in the pit who hadn't talked at all until Brian accidentally jumped on his foot. But I still have to give this place for Michael Palin's Pontius Pilate just for that Biggus Dickus scene cos it's probably the funniest movie scene I have ever seen. Palin often had the funniest characters, and it's even funnier when you know that the extras and other actors didn't know about his lines so if I'm correct, all of those laughters were genuine reactions to Palin's acting, and he also was so close to losing it at one point :D

5. And you know what? I just HAVE TO link here the French Taunting scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail, just for you XD "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!" kills me every time.

+ And you get an extra just because you're French, this skit and their accents in this sometimes live rent free in my head :D

THANK YOU so much for the ask btw! I decided to skip the 001 about FUB cos my answers would have not been much different from the RG one, apart from real people not having a canon, and me not really having any headcanons for them for that same reason. So, it would have not really added anything, or would have been even less than what I now got for the answers for R/I.

Funnily enough, I got way more out of Monty Python. It just shows how I don't get attached to characters really, but live for and from humour, and anything that's funny af to me, I like and makes me happy.

the joker's lazy. the writing's lazy, the plot is lazy and all in all it just preys upon tired topres, cliches and really, just boring plot points.

oh wow, a clown themed prince of crime. okay, not bad, not bad. but then you have this simply TERRIBLE mix of goofy and deadly-like, oh please, he kidnaps a boat of people or something and threatans to burn them all. this is also very cloely tied to my disgust for batman. if there was a venn diagram of my hatred of joker and my hatred for batman, there'd be one circle.

i must admit, i do like the idea of the villain making the hero and the hero the villain. cool concept. should've endded thirty years ago.

the horse is simply dead, and dc's still hitting it. i mean this with all sincerity-DC SHOULD MOVE ON.

Yes!!! Just the other day I was talking to my friend about who should be the main villain of the next batman film and both of us said we don't want joker.

I think the most frustrating thing about him is that he gets so much attention when there are other villains that are much more interesting and have so much more to do that could be used.

Also the convoluted nature of this character is so annoying. We don't even know if he's the original guy who fell into that vat of acid (or atleast I don't know because almost every comic I've read with joker in it is so confusing to me).

Anyway to answer your question about my least favourite part of the batfam fandom.

I don't think this is controversial but nothing annoys me more than people who refuse to read the comics and only indulge in fanon works and proceed to pretend as though that's a worthy substitute.

I don't have a problem with fanon works. I dabble in fanfic myself but I acknowledge that most fanfics are very out of character. I think these people have such a skewed perception of the actual characters and that leads to so much mischaracterisation and more fanon works that are ooc.

Also I read wayne family adventures but we have to realise that it's not canon. I know a lot of people love it and while it's not my favourite, it is a cute wholesome thing to read once in a while. But when I say pick up a comic I don't mean wfa. To me wfa is fanon as well.

The himbo-fication of dick grayson is my worst enemy and it all comes back to fanon. You don't even need to pick up a comic to see that's wrong. Just watch young justice.

Because they can often be the loudest voice, it also ends up leaking into actual comics and canon because writers think that's what the people want.

The amount of times I see someone go on the Internet and just make something up about a character is insane.

I think if you only want to indulge in fanon works that's fine but only as long as you acknowledge that comics and fanfics are not one in the same.

Connected to the System

Module 4 has opened my eyes using two videos about social media. First is about ordering a pizza and the second is about Facebook. I find the short film about ordering a Pizza to be a satire about technology and data privacy. In the short film, a man ordered a pizza but the establishment has acquired a lot of sensitive data about the man such as his bank information, health records, and location. The reason being is that the establishment is connected into the system which is the source of the information they are using. However the establishment felt like a stalker. Deciding for the customer what they should be ordering. The man ordered an unhealthy pizza but was suggested a healthier option because the man is suffering from a disease according to his health record. I believe this diminishes the freedom of the man and felt as if his information is freely given away to strangers for their own benefit. Lastly, the man has been reported because he verbally abused the one who received the call because he found her annoying and he got upset because his information is readily available to the pizza house because it is connected to the system. The short film wants to show us in a funny way about the realities of the modern world and how it can be much darker. It answers the question what if your information is freely given to anyone? In such a way, you would naturally feel vulnerable and naked. You feel as if everyone knows about you and information that only you should know about. Your secrets and mysteries are no longer hidden from others. It is that sense of paranoia that makes you uneasy. Especially when doing something bad because you'll know that others will know of what you have done.

The second video talked about the information that Facebook collects. The man showed how he printed so many pages worth of his information that was collected by Facebook. Now they have given statements about how they collect data and how they store it but we do not really explore about it much until we see videos like this. I am not shock to say the least, I am aware of it and I stayed nonchalant about it. The app is such a powerful and marvelous piece of work. Even though you do not have a Facebook account, there is still a version of you inside their servers built using the information taken from other accounts. Now that I think about it, Facebook is like a crowd funded project. To gather as much information as possible. Wherein they fund with data, the new oil of the modern era. Making Facebook a growing oilfield. Rich with resources. Resources that fuel companies. I followed the tips given by the video but I kept using Facebook. Recently, messenger, an app related to Facebook, is using end-to-end encryption on every messages to ensure the security and privacy of messages. I remember that it is a feature before that must be toggled but is now the default for messages. Additionally, syncing chat history is also added and it is annoying. When logging into a new device, a password is required to access the chat history. However, it is helpful in providing better privacy to ensure that the information about the conversations that the user is having is only shared with the right people. However , despite how secure and private Facebook is, I still remember how they shutdown in a few hours because they were attacked with a DDoS by a group of hackers.

CRITICAL REFLECTION

I am so incredibly proud of this film and I’m really appreciative for all the feedback we got.

‘A suggestion may not give an answer but it addresses a question.’

We were complimented on our opening shot - an opening shot is so important in a short film - it must be engaging enough for the viewer to not skip onto the next one, so I was very happy to hear that. Leo also enjoyed the nuance of our film, which was something very important to us as films about gay experiences often follow the same tropes in order to appeal to straight audiences which we wanted to avoid doing - we wanted to tell an authentic story, so I’m glad that Leo saw that.

Zoe, Paul and Leo loved the production design, which I’m glad they recognised as Nikola really did do an amazing job on it. They said that the party felt believable and that the costume was great.

The tone in the first scene however did get lost at times which I think we could fix with a tighter edit to keep up the comedy. 

Our main mistake was not giving Ethan the attention he needed - this is his story and yet he is obscured throughout the film. In the first scene, we put tights over the lens which looked amazing in the wides but it did not work for the shot reverse shot as well as Ethan was on the side of the screen, meaning the focus on him was very soft and the drunk girl instead looked like the main character.

Then in the bus stop scene, we do not see Ethan enough - we should be with him much more to watch his emotional progression. We have a great shot of him crying but the build up to it falls flat. The 2 shot we have is not utilised either, we never pull focus from the stranger to Ethan. We hold on the stranger for too much instead of Ethan.

There are some amazing lines such as ‘Where is the pride parade?’ and ‘What do I do now?’ Which we dont linger on for long enough to let them have the impact intended. We don’t understand enough what Ethan is thinking when he says them - whether he feels guilty or not for example.

There are also issues with blocking, in two scenes in particular. The first is when Ethan walks away from Sean- we don’t tilt up to catch Sean’s reaction. I think we did tilt in the last few takes but decided to not use them. Also, in the scene in which the stranger walks away from Ethan then stops to say something, he ends up awkwardly in the bottom left corner, half of him cut out of the frame.

A suggestion was made for a transition between the 2 scenes which we did have but decided to remove which is interesting. The argument for it was that the two scenes have such different tones that it's a bit jarring, however, even though I really liked the transition, I also like the sudden change of tone.

One of the best bits of feedback we got was on the sound. We did have an issue with the export as the sound was exported in stereo in Protools then ended up in a mono track on davinci, so we need to fix that, but in general, Zoe said that the sound was not cinematic enough. It didn’t have that immersive dynamism. For example, at the bus stop, we are saying that Ethan left the party early and yet there are no sounds of nearby parties or drunk people in the streets even though its meant to be Halloween. That is something that we can easily fix too. 

An annoying mistake we made which we noticed in the edit was that we did not linger on Ethan’s face enough at the very end, we should had stayed with him for much longer and captured his emotion before panning up. It feels as though we did a disservice to Ewan, our actor who played Ethan, as he has such a presence on screen and we did not give him the time he deserved. 

I really loved directing this project and I was so lucky to work with such an incredible crew. I would love to fix the sound and grade to re upload it because I am so proud of this film and I really think that it has potential.

My standard of work has increased so much even from the last semester and I can't wait to take what I learned from this into my next project.
