wild to me that people are actually trying to defend that classification system cause my reaction whenever i see poor curation is the unshakeable urge to go get a qualification in curation just to be able to storm back in and smack everyone's hands away so i can do it properly this time (yes i know it would never be that easy, but a woman can dream)
even if it would make sense at all ever to group them all together like that (it wouldn't! if for no other reason than they aren't ordinarily labelled like that and so the natural reaction is at least some degree of confusion) there are still... literal factural inaccuracies everywhere?
It's Just Bad, Man
#a) 'in the style of the classical period' is not a period#that says nothing about when it was made buddy#but also b) no it isn't#it isnt in the style of the classical period if anything it's hellenistic in style#but again WHEN it was made WE DO NOT KNOW#LIKE. AT ALL.#HOW IS THAT USEFUL OR EDUCATIONAL TO ANYBODY#inb4 'this other place has then grouped'#any other time ive seen them grouped it's been called ancient civ or something like that#labelling them all 'egyptian classical ANE' and then not even being super clear on WHICH FUCKING ONE#aint it#yes that says culture: greek (the baking lady)#that's nice it really is#unfortunately it doesnt mean shit because other artefacts have 'made in: egypt' after their little 'culture: greek' label#so#even that is not consistent OR clear#assuming people even get past the initial tagging of everything as - first and foremost - egyptian#and being in egyptian rooms and egyptian exhibitions#not ancient rooms or ancient exhibitions#egyptian
