I’m sorry if you’ve answered this before but, how do you make your headers, if you don’t mind me asking?

hi! i’ll try to explain but they are actually really easy to make lolbecause i’m bored i’m going to make one with you under the cut and if someone wants it i’ll post a link to download it kfkjk

note: there may be mistakes?? but it’s just what i do

1 - i try to find inspiration?? it usually comes when i’m watching music video or if i see a pics that has nice colors* ??(or during philosophy class)during the process of making it i listen to music ot watch videos ?? and i think that’s really important

*lately i’ve been using mvs a lot more, when i use pictures i use official ones, cut the backgorund, recolor them and then go with the same process??

2 - after i decided which part of mv i want to use i open it on photoshop (i have photoshop cc 2015 i think)! i go with the same process i use to make gifs so 

  file  > import > videos frames to layers and then this:

and then choose the frame that looks better and duplicate it in a new document(??) like this:

in case the pic is lq: right click on the layer > duplicate layer > new

3 - after opening the pic i resize the canvas 

ctrl + alt + c or imagine > canvas size. 

i use 1000 x 669 but there is no a specific reason… i don’t know the right size??? 

4 - i adjust the pic so it’s the right size for the canvas and add a background color but before doing that i covert it to smart filters

filters > convert to smart filtets > smart sharpen* 

and then i add colorings*

the ajustement layers usually i use the most are vibrance, curves, color balance and levels ?? (i don’t always use all of them)

and now we have this:

*these are completely optional, i just think the center picture looks nicer!!

5 - using the eclipse tool i create a clipping mask

this is whem i start to actually work on the header! i try a lot of different things until i like how the header looks like

then i resize it (we’ll call it center from now on) so that it doesn’t look too big and add all the decorations!*

- to create the shadow of the center i duplicate the eclipse (??) shape [ctrl + j] and choose a darker shade, so that it acrually loos like a shadow or a totally different color.- to create the lines i use the pen tool [pen tool > shape > image]*

*at this point i also changed the background color!

and now we have this:

you can consider this complete, but i do another step

6 - beacause like this the header looks empty i add a text (usually the title of the song or part of song i like??) in this case i’m going with ‘knock knock’ 

right click on text layer > blending option > stroke

and i then added another text layer to create the shadow!!

 this is how it turned out!!

and this is it!! it may look at little bit empty, so if you like you could add a few more things when making yours but i’m pretty satisfied with this!! hope it was helpful!!!
