i'm barely past 25 (27 going on 28) but i've been seeing 18-24 people with heightened reactions to certain things, it makes me remember myself at those ages

i've always thought on it even when i wasn't as mentally healthy, when i was really insecure, when i was that age. I still recognized certain ages as just not as developed. bc they're not! but same with teenagers, or even tweens, lord forbid you tell them they're still baby LMAO

They're really just teenagers with adult privileges and responsibilities. But they're still immature, growing, developing. They still want to be treated like an adult with adult communication, but most will still just react immaturely until they get the tools, skills, and experience for an adult response (hopefully). Just bc your hormones are done doesn't mean the rest of you is! I was probably worse then than when i was a teen in high school tbh!!

You're not "fully developed" until you're 25. I don't think people should be considered "adults" with full responsibilities. 18-24 should be your adult trial run stage. Which in a way sounds like that should be college!! but it really isn't LOL

That time should be spent as a proper transition period to learn how to exist as a member of society. Taxes, appointment making, money handling, resume formatting, housing contracts, insurances, coping strategies--these are things that should be really learned during that time on at least a simple and basic level!!! but no!!!! The government and society is just built on the labor of the uninformed to make it easier to pray upon and leech any money that they can

pulling a lot of this from my dms with lys but what really pushed me to change up ibara's backstory was re-examining the way she talks to and about things

ibaras ocd just seems so deeply unmanaged/overlooked that i have to wonder if shes just been in an environment that encourages it yknow. like there is no self soothing happening here she is collapsing in public

she thinks its appropriate to tell people they need to be flogged like i feel like at some point this has to have been encouraged bc she doesnt seem to feel the shame of it being "socially abnormal" the way it feels with ocd when you know its kinda irrational and nobody thinks that way. in general honestly she communicates in a way that indicates she doesnt understand that nobody else understands the religious talk + jargon, even when theyre clearly taken aback by it. i cant imagine she called shishida "beast of revelations" out of any malice or even to be mischievious, i think to her thats just basically a synonym for him. while she clearly gets upset and embarrassed abt other things, it feels like her fundamental reality hinges on Everyone Being On The Same Page With Her when they very much are NOT

Ibara is obsessed with things being completely clear to the point of getting upset at mic for a funny one-liner i cant IMAGINE shes trying to be obtuse on purpose. but she even uses a personal pronoun thats so formal and archaic its not used by anyone except corporations/politicians making official apology statements theres also in LN2, at a girls slumber party at the training camp, a gag where mina brings up love and yaomomo is like "Love?! before marriage?!" and shiozaki agrees and says something abt marriage being a promise before god. which like is just meant to be a silly gag abt how sheltered yaomomo is but again that + the way ibara speaks + other things seem to indicate not even just a religious upbringing but an incredibly insular one. when the girls in that chapter are talking abt potential dates, ibara says she thinks someone needs to "pull the thorn from endeavors heart" and everyones like. YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON ENDEAVOR? GIRL? and shes like. what? no. i just think he needs help like mentally

& ibara never tries to proselytize in canon. she talks abt the lord vaguely, but she never mentions it in a way that insinuates she expects her classmates to convert, just that she holds them to the same moral standard she holds herself, and a general obliviousness to the fact they dont know what shes talking about to her it seems like god is just a literal physical reality untethered to personal affiliation in fact shes like. bizarrely un-denominational in her christianity she never references things outside of allusions to bible stories, the lord as a concept, or her moral ethos. and again, in all the christmas material we see of her she almost looks confused as to why shes there

which. sure in part probably has more to do with horikoshi but the way i interpret it is just that these "official cultural aspects" like the celebrations themselves / decorations / etc are completely divorced from "actual christmas" in her mind. she has no fucking clue why there are elves involved what the fuck does this have to do with jesus which again would point to an incredibly, incredibly insular upbringing. like, more than MLA insular shes completely alienated from the culture of her peers but doesnt understand why because she still hasnt felt any need to question her concept of culture or reality in general. so instead shes just baffled all the time. no wonder shes so high strung. I mean “childe” is an archaic English term for the son of a nobleman so technically it does mean “young lord” 😭😭😭 just like regrator is an archaic term for merchant and balladeer means singer, all of which being not direct translations of their respective Commedia names but rather archaic words for the roles those commedia names represent. It’s funny tho that we get that for only some of them, and then some of them r direct translations like The Doctor and The Captain. Idk I kinda like having the archaic less obvious versions, the direct translations feel weirder.

Like it makes sense, bc the direct translation for Tartaglia is “stutterer” and for Pantalone it’s “pants” and Scaramouche is an anglicized spelling of Scaramuccia which means “skirmisher” and none of those rlly indicate their typical roles in the plays (Tartaglia is a politician, Pantalone a merchant, Scaramouche a bard)…… but then we have The Rooster??? Whose secondary codename is the direct translation??? IDK I wish they’d gone full-tilt and found archaic versions of them all.

I AM VERY INTO THE HARBINGERS’ CODE NAMES SORRY SKDBSKDB and veryyyyy annoyed by how irregular they are in the en vers like wdym only some of them have “the” in front of them wdym some r literally the same word but in English instead of Italian while others r more creative 😭😭😭

All of their secondary names r literal translations in the original Chinese aside from Childe btw—it’s v clearly just. Translation bc Italian is far less similar to Chinese than to English. So this is therefore a cn -> en translation befuddlement wrt the inconsistencies, and like considering the more creative ones (childe & Scara) r the older ones, it seems like they might have been translated first and then the rest the team decided on a diff naming system? Idk. I think being more consistent even if it doesn’t quite match up with how the cn game did things would have been a better choice. But I’m sitting here lamenting that I have to write Capitano and Dottore fic with only one real name to choose from instead of a second archaic one comparable to Childe, so perhaps I’m biased JDNFKSBDJ

i dont have a whole lot to add to this sdkjfjskd i was trying to think of a way to respond but honestly this makes sense!! childes name also makes more sense in this perspective so ty for the info. otherwise it seems a little random but knowing theres like. Reason is much more applicable to what otherwise seems like an odd choice. i did know about some of the other names but not at all of them so im happy 2 know something new esp bc genshin lore often escapes me....

the irregularity is definitely apart of the issue i think at least for me SKJDFSD. though ive only done a little reading on the harbingers i did also notice this when i was doing the browse of their lore and whatnot. i feel like this happens a lot with games specifically (ESPECIALLY gacha games from what i noticed) where translations r too direct and dont make sense contextually or dont really communicate the details correctly. no translation is perfect but like. the choices feel a bit random without the consistency.

thank you hun!!! i appreciate that immensely :-) these are gonna be Mostly connor and kendall centered bc these two brothers in childhood live in my head and heart rent free <3 also bc im writing something w them rn (again) struck up by a concept a friend and i came up with which is that kendall writes connor letters while he’s in college :-) they have the occasional phone call but its easier for kenny to talk about whatever more openly in writing. anyway! onto the headcanons:

- i think that connor is told that roman is about to be born through kendall’s letters. unfortunately logan lacks all courtesy to tell his son like any other parent would, so con’s pretty much stunned because he ends up hearing about it through his literal ten year old brother’s letters. this causes him to call up his father immediately and leads to a rather heated argument between them. before leaving for school especially he was definitely one to try and keep peace and order at home but he’s very much overwhelmed with feelings about this and can’t stand not to let that out and ask his father what the hell is going on. (because this is the concept that my writing will focus on i don’t want to give much more than that tbh!)

- on the topic of roman, i think roman absolutely doesn’t know until after age six that connor is even his brother. it’s the fault of the fact that connor comes around pretty infrequently (because he’s in school and then working while roman is growing up/a young kid), but none of his siblings really let it go into adulthood, and still make fun of him for it. of course, this causes roman to retort at connor that “it’s not my fault you’re ancient”. i think kendall is very adamant about trying to teach roman that he’s his big brother because to kendall connor is so important to him!! but roman is a very unobservant kid and at a certain point he’s wasting his own time since he is getting absolutely nowhere with him. eight year old shiv really is just watching this unfold. she obviously knows the truth and finds it annoying that roman doesn’t but she stays out of this conflict bc even this young sometimes dealing w him makes her lose her mind. 

- that being said, although connor isn’t very present to what roman remembers growing up, at least while he’s still at school, connor makes it a point to visit as much as possible for kendall and shiv. he’s home at holidays, and makes an extra special point to come home for birthdays if he can manage it. he wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he missed ken’s ninth birthday, or shiv’s first birthday. (bonus: connor always is sure to bring kendall home something every time he comes home, even if it’s his own birthday). 

- i think that once connor is done school and has the option to live alone and get his own place he does so. this kinda becomes a place that’s like a second home to kendall shiv and roman, since they make it a point to go whenever they can around holidays/birthdays for a few days at a time if they can. they end up kinda forging their own traditions here (silly or otherwise) and it just means a lot to all of them even if they don’t say it that there’s a place where they can all just be together. connor has always wanted that for them and he’s honestly never been prouder of anything more than the fact that he can provide that for his siblings. 

- this is more a projection but i think that roman is physically disabled! i haven’t decided how yet but i think that kendall is very protective over roman when he’s little (i think logan is very quick to roughhouse when playing w his kids) and kendall gets scared that ro’s gonna get hurt. (i’m also this close to having kendall also be disabled bc i project onto him the most. only time will tell if i do this hehe)

- here are some funny ones that are more canon adjacent just because. i think that neither roman nor connor know how to use a stove. i think that if roman cooks something for himself he’ll die, and shiv is fucking mortified at the realization that he doesn’t know how to operate a stove. for connor i think he’s insane and decides that a stove is “so archaic” and instead has expensive kitchen gadgets that complicate the cooking process completely. he has like a really advanced crockpot he likes to use instead. kendall is also mortified by this concept because he likes to attempt to be a functioning dad and knows how to cook and barbecue for his kids. connor doesn’t see what all the fuss is about because what he uses works perfectly fine meanwhile kendall is like “dear lord how did you take care of me growing up.” when it comes to cooking i also think shiv finds tom’s expensive taste too snobby. she really would just like a fucking burger sometimes. also, i think that connor has classical music on blast in his apartment almost at all times because “it helps him focus” and it prompts kendall to ask him if he’s okay when he starts coming over and it’s always on. i really don’t think shiv listens to music tbh.

What drew you to this character: i usually tend to play very meek characters but something about salix’s ‘fuck everything im just gonna do me bc rules are oppressive in any regard no matter who is in charge’ attitude really just connects to how i actually feel normally in the world. obviously i don’t thieve ( for legal reasons of course ) but that constant need to mess with people, especially people who are all about politics, is something i have so much muse for. i can just see salix now always coming in extremely late to the council meetings on purpose just so he can make as loud as an entrance as he can even though he knows he literally has no value to them really, its just fun to watch them snap their heads expecting someone important but nope, its salix slamming the doors again. he’s that type of guy who is always around but you never see him leave or arrive anywhere, he’s just there and then gone along with your wallet if you’re lucky. salix would call himself an enigma but he’s just really good at sneaking in and out of places ( i wonder why huh? ). authority means absolutely nothing to him, anyone who tries to police him just gets greeted with nonstop laughter because he can’t even take them seriously and he was quite slippery, too hard to grab and arrest. salix has no schedule and he doesn’t make plans. if he gets invited to a party the times are optional so he shows up when he wants to or doesn’t. he’s a very fickle individual who likes to seek out adventure without falsifying with prior intentions. he’s a purest when it comes to adventures and nature, both should always be presented to you not picked by you.

ik they’re very different objectively looks wise but honestly when it comes to vibes they’re very similar. the reason i picked up hero & kangjoon was because they both kind of radiate this smugness while also being extremely charming looking. both are very attractive men who just have that look, that severe beauty that is just approachable enough with his charismatic personality. he’s definitely the type of guy to know people think he’s hot and doesn’t like to show that he likes it but he secretly loves it especially coming from people he’s tricked so both of these face claims to me just scream that type of energy. smug but not arrogant, attractive but not too attractive to where you can’t talk to him, just charismatic enough that you look past any red flags because that smile is just too genuine looking to be coming from a trickster, right?

Please list at least two headcanons for your character:

1. it is not uncommon for salix to disappear in the woods for a couple days only to come back to the ridge with no explanation. no one knows where he goes or why but sometimes he just needs peace and quiet from the constant reminders that their societies were close to a war. it’s like his own little meditative retreat.

2. salix likes to pretend he’s a human sometimes by covering his ears with a hat or scarf while going out on the town to see who he can fool and mess with. it’s very amusing to him and he’s learned humans are kinda dumb but then again so are all of the other races to him as well so it wasn’t a huge surprise. 3. salix is the type of guy who doesn’t believe in settling down and not in a ‘no one will ever love me so im too afraid to try’ way. the entire concept of a relationship just seems archaic to him and the amount of work that goes into that is too much work for him so he just puts it out into the universe that he is single but not looking to settle down.

4. salix’s charm is really easy to fall under because he’s an attractive sweet talker who knows how to work a person based on body language alone so he’s really not to be messed with. he is 80% non-violent and honestly mostly neutral when it comes to almost every topic because he could care less but that 20% left over is from situations where someone forces his hand to be used. he doesn’t use force unless someone is really bothering the shit out of him and that’s a hard feat to do since he’s such a fucker its hard to fuck with him back.

5. salix is constantly barefoot and prefers to never wear shoes but he is known to make the exception for special occasions ( but not always ! ). he doesn’t tell people his reasoning mostly because he doesn’t really want their input on what he does with his life because its his life but its simple, he feels more connected to the earth without shoes. shoes to him rob every species of the true experience of nature.

6. it is no secret that salix likes to use the five finger discount a lot but what people don’t know is that the stuff he steals that isnt for profit ( stuff he cant resell or barter with that he steals ) he always keeps. his home is just full of random shit everywhere in piles and there is absolutely no organization in his home but he doesn’t care, the chaos calms him because all those stolen things are his now, his little trinkets and random stolen things that he likes to just look at when he is home. ( which isnt super often, he likes to go out and not come home for a few days )

1. i can’t stop thinking of salix annoying the hell out the council members just for shits and giggles. so i can just imagine him showing up somewhere a council member is and just acting like a moron until they leave. 2. anything to do with him stealing/pick-pocketing + messing w/ppl and running into the ‘law’ and just having to try to keep a straight face when he’s being questioned because he doesn’t take any authority seriously. i’d love to see how an angel responds to his ‘charm’ 3. i’d also love to delve into his neutrality, like how deep does it go and how far do his morals go with it ? he isn’t a true neutral but he’s close so to really go in-depth with his character to see what kind of person he turns out to be in the end of this, still neutral or will he bend and choose a side?
