i keep thinking abt the toichiro as cat leaving food at ur door. what do u think abt the seventh division, the other goobs yknow yknow
koyama and sakurai: your bonded cats you got from the shelter who are CONSTANTLY beefing it but cry and scream if separated for one second
muraki: kind of weird and mean looking but VERY polite, loves people and attention and will get super mopey if ignored
ishiguro: your relative's elderly declawed cat who will kick the shit out of you if you try to move while he's in your lap
tsuchiya and mukai: pairbonded absolute menaces. very sweet to each other, little assholes to everyone else, will bite you if you try to take a picture of them snuggling. no one believes you when you tell them tsuchiya isnt mukai's bio mom.
terada: your deeply untalented cat who keeps beefing with other cats despite sucking shit at fighting and trying to jump to the treat shelf and completely beefing it. embarrassing animal to coexist with.
matsuo: keeps bringing live mice inside seemingly for fun

before the new year begins
happy new year everyone! 🫶🏻✨️ toffee @neo-shitty tagged me in this and since i absolutely love talking about myself and reflecting, i am taking the opportunity to look back on 2024 with this, so thank u for the tag hihi. 🩷
my no-pressure tags go to @sungbeam @from-izzy @gluion @jaehunnyy @sanaxo-o @injangism and @freakywonbin !!
1. share your favorite memory of this year.
as much as i shit on 2024, it surely was one of the best years of my life. I can't really think of one memory that would be my most favorite, but i really enjoyed my trip to budapest in june and also august, my internet best friend sleeping over, karaoke nights in november and december, getting drunk with my situationship, 11/11 manifestation with my friend and over-all many moments spent with friends during this semester :,)
2. what was the highlight of your year?
I think that an over-all highlight might have been me spending more time with my friends and building deeper bonds with the people around me, but once again, i dont think i can pick just one.
3. list the top five books you read this year.
AAAA i love book questions. okay so! first place definitely takes happy all the time by laurie colwin, which i didnt expect to like as much as i did, but its a solid 5* book that i think about often. second place is definitely tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow by gabrielle zevin that i read this time last year, it was such an enchanting and amazing read with an unique plot line and great world building. third place takes flowers for algernon by daniel keyes, my psych major heart enjoyed this one deeply. makes you think and reflect and i would recommend this book to anyone. I also very much enjoyed kitchen by banana yoshimoto, which was written in a very simple, yet beautiful way, and the last one im going to mention is never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, which i also didnt expect to like half as much as i did.
4. list the top five movies you watched this year.
I am not much of a movie watcher, if im being honest, i am convinced i literally watched 5 movies in total last year 💀💀 but i did really love fight club! I also finally watched the amazing spiderman movies which i loved, and beautiful boy which wasn't exactly what i expected, but i enjoyed it nonetheless and think about it often. as the fifth one im gonna mention john mulaney: baby j if that counts..? 😭
5. list the top five tv series you binged this year.
I havent watched much tv series either,, but twinkling watermelon was definitely my favorite!! I also enjoyed the eighth sense and the eight show, and i also channeled my inner uk culture lover and watched the inbetweeners finally LMAOO
6. what is the one new thing you discovered this year (could be a place/hobby/song etc)?
does a karaoke bar at uni count? 💀💀 i dont think i really discovered many new things last year, or i cant really recall anything..? but i definitely discovered more of my uni town and maybe more of my sexuality..? 😭 as for artists i discovered the kid laroi, role model and gracie abrams :p
7. top three albums that you played this year?
the secret of us by gracie abrams, eternal sunshine by ariana grande and kansas anymore by role model were definitely my most played this year 🙂‍↕️
8. your spotify wrapped #1 song
I feel like i am the only one whose spotify wrapped was accurate this year HAHA. anyways mine was sadly she moves in her own way by the kooks. 🧍‍♀️
9. your spotify wrapped top artist.
the 1975! matty healy they could never make me hate you.
10. your personal song of the year.
oof.. n e m u s i m e s a b a t by porsche boy and mess. this song was there for me when no one else was HAHA.
11. what is an achievement that you are proud of this year?
started putting myself first and taking more opportunities to go out/hang out with people. this used to be a big problem of mine especially when i was handling anxiety, but i found that getting out of the house helps managing it :))
12. what are your goals for the next year?
biggest goal is definitely graduating and getting into masters! then id love to travel to london with my friend in the summer and finally get that tattoo i've been wanting since 17 hihi. finding love would also be great but i dont think thats something i can impact haha
13. any three book releases you are excited for next year
I dont really follow any anticipated releases, to be honest! I just read what i find already released 😭
14. any three upcoming movies/tv series that you are excited for next year.
WEAK HERO CLASS 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
15. if you could change one thing about the past year what would it be?
the holiday season 💀💀 it was quite possibly the darkest part of my year/life and i did not enjoy it at all.
16. did you manage to stick to your new year's resolutions this year?
I just found a few that i had written down in my journal last year. I definitely stuck to taking care of myself more, put myself first more, hanging out more with my friends and continuing to write. I didnt however watch more movies, do more art and read 24 books last year 💔
17. do you have any new year's resolutions for the next year?
I do! as i already mentioned, graduating and getting into masters is a big one. then going to london, get a tattoo, write more, continue to socialize even more, be more careless and have more of a yolo lifestyle, find a more positive relationship with myself and build my confidence in a way that doesnt depend on external validation. :))
18. favorite meme of the year?
mama a girl behind you was a big one in my brain to be quite honest. 😭😭 also 9/10 perfect score! OH and the sabrina "have you ever tried this one?"
19. which month was the most fun this year?
june, august, october and november were big ❤️‍🔥
20. what color do you associate the previous year with?
hmmm not gonna lie its very close to brat green in my eyes
21. if you could tell yourself something at the beginning of this year based on what you know right now, what would it be?
do things scared !!! don't worry so much about everything, because things will turn out just fine. also dont talk to the erasmus people in the club it's a trap! (/j. I've enjoyed this little fun romance side quest of mine so far.)
22. favorite viral trend of the year?
I think i kinda fell for the very cutesy very demure trend for a bit?? Also the viral dance to disco by surf curse was the highlight of my days i watched every single one on my fyp haha
23. list any three new things you learned this year (could be recipes, a new skill, etc.)
my signature pasta recipe i cook for me and my roommate every other week. I also feel like i finally learned how to park..? and uhhh the last skill may be how to give a bj idk sjsksdksksk
24. how would you describe your year in a word?
fun!
25. what color do you want to associate the upcoming year with? why?
yellow! it feels like a very positive/celebratory color and i feel like thats what i really need next year <3

girl I'm trying to make my tbr list and I wanna for recs bc I know u read a lot (goals) also did u deleted your books reviews and lists? 😭
from lit fic, I'll always recommend Sally Rooney and also:
My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell (check tw before)
My Husband by Maud Ventura (lady is obsessed with her husband)
The Girl Who Slept with God by Val Berlinski (religious family etc)
Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth (lesbians, Irish)
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro (painful)
All Fours by Miranda July (it's weird, some people hate it)
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan (short, Irish, catholic nuns)
Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen (psychiatric hospital)
romance - I only really like Emily Henry, haven't read much else, I'm afraid of cringe
fantasy:
One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (duology, great magic system)
Peaches & Honey by R. Raeta (duology, god makes a woman immortal)
Daughter of Smoke and Bone (trilogy, YA, great world-building, unique)
Where the Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek (YA, Slavic inspired)
My Throat an Open Grave by Tori Bovalino (leaning into horror)
The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow (it's 30 pages long)
from classics I like Jane Eyre a lot, Wuthering Heights was great too but everybody is insane. Also loved Carmilla (lesbian, vampire, short)
and yes. I deleted my book stuff because no one was reading all that and that's not why people follow me. I decided to make this blog just be my fics!
thank you for asking me! I hope you'll find something you like and reach your goals in 2025!

Anshdhhdh love book discussions 1&2
hehehe hi cofi thank u
1. what is the best book you have ever read?
some people who have been here awhile will probably already know that I'm gonna have to say mort by terry pratchett (or basically any of the discworld novels)... or the buried giant by kazuo ishiguro.... or the freedom writers diary by erin gruwell... hmm this was harder than I expected
I have no explanation for my love of discworld other than my dad gave me his collection of first edition novels when I was 13 and I will treasure them forever
Ishiguro isn't the most popular author in the world and I think the buried giant actually has a pretty low rating but it scratches part of my brain for some reason
Freedom writers is just incredibly heartwarming and devastating at the same time, it's not often I read non-fiction but the story is just special
2. what is the worst book you have ever read?
I could go one of two ways here and say bag of bones by Stephen King because I could just not be bothered whatsoever to finish it..or I could say catcher in the rye purely because I had to read it at school and therefore it's awful.
Actually no!!!! I just remembered reading The Collector by John Fowles in English which actually, iirc, wasn't a bad book per say, just very very traumatic to have to read with your high school English teacher. Although thinking about it it probably started my fascination with the psychological side of true crime

hello! your works continue to send me to a happy place and i’m grateful you’ve shared your writing :) breakfast with ran continues to be one i think of when washing the dishes and songs about toxic people one that keeps me up at times just thinking about how detailed it is. songs about toxic people, each piece and section felt like a breeze. the kind you feel when you’re outside and have a moment to be present yet u feel a lot and some of it is nostalgia. this makes zero sense and it all is meant as a compliment from the bottom of my heart. essentially if for me it’s comforting to hear wind chimes ringing with autumn breezes, then that’s how i find your writing to be. i would love to know if u have any literature, movie, or song recs if you don’t mind sharing. take care 💓
this message is so sweet 😭💖 i'm very happy my writing brings you to such a happy place 😭😭😭😭😭 i also find it very hard to explain how my love for something makes me feel haha and i think as long as it makes sense to you, it shouldn't matter however you express it! hehehe it makes me happy either way 💖
also, i'm so sorry for answering this so late, but i hope you still get to read this now! here are some media recs from me:

This just an update, like a lil journal entry. I'm not constantly insane no worries, so what i have actually been doing recently outside of that is writing Penguin/Riddler and Catwoman/Penguin stuff. They're my own versions of them. I really like to consider Selina and Edward in a sort of duality, where Selina is more interested in sex and money as opposed to love, but she still does genuinely like Oswald and she's not desperate, she's just in a mood for some fun u kno, and that's valid of her. I think Oswald loves her a little, but in the way that he's fucking her and spending time with her, so he has to love her at all to feel capable of doing that. Edward on the other hand really does love Oswald quite a lot. Not to say "he doesn't care about the money" because he definitely does adore Oswald's penchant for fashion and general extravagance, it's very very charming to him. But he's far more warm and romantic to Oswald than Selina generally is, and he's definitely looking for a relationship. He'd really like to settle down with the old bird, be all warm and cozy and comfortable. Having lived his early life in poverty, the security of Oswald's riches is appealing to him, as is Oswald's ability to protect him physically.
I also have a few more Simpsons Burnsmithers fics I'd like to follow through with. Main one I thought of a few nights ago is Burns performing a wellness check on Smithers. I also want to follow up on the "wild west au", which was going to be an entire story but I might just do a one-shot or a handful of chapters. But before doing so, I have a handful of Westerns I'd like to watch, and also return to RDR2. My grandparents watched a lot of Western movies and shows as I was growing up and they're still watching the painful as fuck "Tales of Wells Fargo" and "Laramie", so I have been getting injected recently and I'd like to experience some "good" westerns so I don't feel completely ill writing the Bsmits thing. I'd only like to keep it historically accurate and check the vibes, which is why it won't be a full-fledged story because writing historical fiction fanfiction is honestly painful and not super worth the effort?? Only in that it just takes up a lot of my time and there are other things I'd rather write u kno
Ofc I've still been reading a lot too, I discovered author Kazuo Ishiguro, who wrote "The Remains of the Day", and I look forward to reading more of his works because they're very emotionally compelling and astoundingly well-written. Likewise with Vladimir Nabokov, as I did get around to reading "Lolita", which has played into some of my recent fics. And I'm also re-reading asoiaf, which is one of my favorite series of all time that I never talk about because the fans are fucking vile. Fic idea is blossoming from that series so I guess, given time and thought, I'll start working on that too.
Very very gradually I've also been working on one of my original stories. Set in my own fantasy universe, it is about an older knight being abused by his king; the knight falls in love with a fellow kingsguard and they escape together. There's a lot going on here and I hate world-building so I don't really talk about it because it's a character-driven story and as far as I can really tell people only want to hear about the lore that I don't like discussing. I'm rather proud of the world, really, but I just don't find conversation about it to be all that stimulating, and I don't find it useful when people take it upon themselves to pick apart something they don't truly understand. Anyway, this is like the 1 billionth draft of said story, so I'm just taking it sentence by sentence, and hopefully since the holiday madness is lightening up I'll have more energy to feel like writing more.
As for life stuff, it be what it do. I got my license and my car is fixed so I'm more alone now than before. I'd like to get a different job, but being sort of anti-social and incapable of forming bonds, it's not looking promising because I'm in a position I've worked very hard to achieve, one where people listen to me. Hopefully this coming year I can go back to college and select a painfully boring profession that will make me a lot of money 🫡 ciao
To end on a lighter note tho, i am getting some more Catwoman figures soon. Plus I have a Chun-Li and Beastars Louis on pre-order that I'm really excited for. I might also try to learn the trumpet. The real light of my life is my boyfriend, who I've been spending time with playing Final Fantasy 14 and watching some real good movies. He is also the cutie pie who got me into Batman, and I love him with all my little heart 💜🥺🤧 the end

6, 15, & 20 📖💗
hi celia ! 📚 thank u for asking <3, answers under the cut :•)
6. what books have you read in the last month?
in may, in reverse chronological order, i read:
why be happy when you could be normal by jeanette winterson
yentl the yeshiva boy by isaac bashevis singer (ok this was out a collection of short stories which i am stilling reading, but it's huge so i don't think i'll finish before i return it. this one really stood out to me and i'd recommend it!)
portraits by kate chopin
eating for england by nigel slater
talk to my back by yomada murasaki
the argonauts by maggie nelson
klara and the sun by kazuo ishiguro
15. recommend and review a book.
i read the kites (les cerfs-volants) by romain gary in april, and i really loved it. i can't remember why i ordered it from the library, i think i must have seen someone on here talk about it. it's set before and during world war 2 in france. about ludo, his postman/kitemaker uncle/guardian, and a polish aristocrat named lila. for a book i basically hadn't heard of before, it was brilliant. i liked the style, the themes of memory, french food, & growing up, ludo's uncle, and getting a feel for a little corner of normandy :•) i imagine it would be even more beautiful in the original french ! 🪁
20. what are things you look for in a book?
i'm often not so interested in plots as much as the quality/richness of the writing, i suppose. i especially like books that paint a picture of a place/culture i am unfamiliar with (portraits for louisiana, the kites for normandy, singer for jewish poland…), and sometimes go through phases where i read books from a particular region and cook some dishes from there too! i am also very much drawn to fiction and memoir with a moderate-to-heavy focus on food !! (kitchen by yoshimoto, joanne harris’s books, toast by slater, crying in h mart....) and i read a lot of cookbooks/food writing, but i don’t really count them 🥘

the summer book by tove jansson!! first non moomin book by her i have read and it was sooo good it captures all the same beauty and magic of the moomins but in the real world.. i read it on a hot afternoon in the sun in my fav park it was a lovely day <3
jazz by toni morrison (given 2 me as a birthday present by em timehascomeagain ty em <3)
amongst women by john mcgahern, my mam lent me this bc when she read it it reminded her so much of the place we lived when i was growing up in rural ireland & the people we were surrounded by and the irish side of my family (my mams from the english suburbs so that was like a foreign fairyland for her whereas when i grew up there it all seemed very normal and only now realise how strange and special of a place it was), and it really is like that it was very comforting in an odd mundane way

Yayayay got tagged by @obeetlebeetle in a get to know me game I love this shit
Last song: Famous Blue Raincoat by Leonard Cohen, song of all time and also on my orv playlist because I’m insane lol. “You’re living for nothing now I hope you’re keeping some kind of record” etc etc
Currently reading: omniscient reader’s viewpoint volume 4 👍🏼. I’m dying. Otherwise I’m rereading Ishiguro’s “The Buried Giant” and Cohen’s Medieval Identity Machines for my thesis. And am paused on White’s Queen of Air and Darkness as well!
Currently watching: oh god I haven’t watched TV since I finished the bear s2… I am watching the beautiful rain from my window . I am watching cooking videos.
Current obsession: if u all couldnt tell by the state of this tumblr it’s well. It’s orv. Does my thesis count as an obsession. It’s taken over my life so. And fallen London perpetually and forever is in my brain. Building a train to hell takes a lot of time 🫡
Ummm tagging @marsjoram @rozecrest @knittedbond

every 10th question for writer question, tell me everything bby, i wanna know ur mind
thank u friend, here u go:
Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
for sure, i think the way certain things are described haunts me. the book never let me go by kazuo ishiguro haunts me, i read that book a million times in my early college years (probably because it’s about clones and we were in the thick of the orphan black fandom). also middlesex by jeffrey eugenides, no one ever talks abt this book but it taught me a lot about gender identity
sometimes my own writing haunts me in that like, i think of a phrase i really like and wanna use it a lot
If a witch offered you the choice between eternal happiness with your one true love and the ability to finally finish, perfect, and publish your dearest, darlingest, most precious WIP in exactly the way you've always imagined it — which would you choose? You can’t have both sorry, life’s a bitch
definitely the WIP since my number one pipe dream is to be an author :)
Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?
i write in my dreams a lot but it’s usually nonsense lmao. and i’ve had pretty vivid dreams before that have inspired like, fanfic and shit
Please share a poem with me, I need it.
here’s some cringe from my notes app:
i fell for you,
head over heels,
tongue over teeth,
over and over
i see you in all my favorite things
and wonder:
do you see me, too?

💌 Your stories are so unique, and reading them feels like I'm reading in diffirent colours. You're really multi-faceted, like Kazuo Ishiguro. I still remember shedding tears over two of your Suguru stories 🍫
I've read your latest snippet, and I'd say that the Ginkgo tree also reminds me of Sugu's peace and freedom. I'm looking forward to gobbling up your story and developing a fear of great writers shudders
Also, Happy Valentine's! ◟(ᵔ ̮ ᵔ)͜💐🧸

2023 in books ✨
I managed to read 100 books in 2023! here are some favourites and also some stats because I love stats.
100 books — 48 Print, 12 digital, 40 audiobook. 11 rereads
76 authors — Most read author: Kazuo Ishiguro
Median days taken per book: 4
Slowest read: 79 days to finish The Sound and The Fury
Shortest book 64 pages, longest 1243
Total pages just under 36,000 (estimate due to audiobooks)
Average rating: 3.86 stars
69% of books were borrowed
Most read genres were: Literary Fiction (38), Fantasy (29), Science fiction (16), and Historical fiction (13). also quite a bit of poetry, horror, and mystery too :)
Favourites by Genre:
Best Contemporary: Real Life — Brandon Taylor
Best Fantasy: Piranesi — Susanna Clarke
Best Sci Fi: Embassytown by China Miéville
The Name Of The Rose — Umberto Eco
Best Poetry: Dart — Alice Oswald
Best Non-fiction: In The Dream House — Carmen Maria Machado
favourite book was my all-time favourite which I reread this year — The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
This whole thing was less difficult than I expected! My attention span feels better and I am so glad I put in the effort to read this much. Not going to push quite so hard next year, but hoping for 60 books and at least 30% non-fiction <3
finally here are some weird specific genres I've noticed
Some Surprisingly Specific Micro-Genre In Books I’ve Read/Bought:
Climate change sci fi (How High We Go In The Dark, In Ascension, Venomous Lumpsucker) — entirely predictable
Fictionalised true crime with an unreliable narrator (Devil House, Penance) — not surprised, though wouldn’t have predicted it
Lots of nuns going round rn (Matrix, For Thy Great Pain) — not complaining, but also why?
if u want to see my graphs let me know. i have so many graphs. ty for reading I might post about books more this year <3
