#i find the use of 'USAmericans' irritating because... i dont know it feels like it just exists as sort of finger wag at americans#'remember that there are other countries in the Americas. shame on you.'#because the other thing it would be distinguishing from is Americans referring to everyone in North and South America#is anyone ever talking about everyone from greenland to peru in a single breath? is that the misconception we're trying to avoid?#so it just feels like a term designed to have a built in tone of talking down to us.#an attitude of 'i need to remind people from the US that there are other countries every time i talk about them otherwise they'll forget'#i dont know maybe it is an actual distinction that needs to be made#but i just dont feel like ive ever heard just 'americans' used to mean anything other than 'USamericans'
