ೃ⁀➷ Baby My Phone
type: headcanons
listen to me yap about what phones i’d think twst characters would have.
2.2k words
Characters: NRC students
╰┈➤ Riddle
Uses a landline.
╰┈➤ Ace
He uses an iPhone but it’s one of those broken, screen protector hanging off, yellow clear case iPhone 8s.
He still thinks his phone is better than an Android and refuses to switch.
His wallpaper is one of those with a massive Nike tick and a “just do it” in a neon red camouflage pattern.
He hasn’t changed it since he was 12.
-2/10
╰┈➤ Deuce
He has a Samsung for sure.
It’s not one of the most expensive ones like an S24 Ultra but it’s reliable.
He’s got a pretty average phone case. It’s navy blue and heavy-duty, making his phone practically indestructible.
His wallpaper is probably yellow with a cartoonish picture of a chick breaking out of an egg.
Pretty simple.
Distinguished taste for an equally distinguished gentleman.
9/10
╰┈➤ Trey
He has a Samsung S10.
I don’t know why, but he just does.
I can also see him using one of those grandpa wallet cases where he carries everything inside.
His phone case doubles as a purse with the bits and bobs he puts in there.
It’s literally a fanny pack that just happens to have space to hold a phone.
Need a napkin? Hold on, let him get it from his phone case real quick.
It’s really handy but a little ridiculous with the amount of stuff he carries in there.
The battery life is hammered thanks to the hours of temple run his siblings play on it whenever he goes home for holidays.
His wallpaper is probably a picture of his siblings, which is cute.
4/10.
Would be higher if it wasn’t for the silly wallet case.
╰┈➤ Cater
We’ve already seen his phone multiple times in game, so I don’t think I have much to say.
His wallpaper is bold, like the phone case he uses.
It’s not exactly ugly, but it definitely suits him.
It’s just not something most people would want to put on their phones.
He’s 100% an iPhone user but he’s the type that gets the new model that comes out every year.
Either that or he’s using one of his sister’s hand-me-downs that’s an iPhone 13. (just like me fr).
6/10
If it wasn’t for that peculiar phone case, I’d rate it higher.
╰┈➤ Leona
I can see him using a Samsung S24 Ultra.
He barely uses it, though.
Most of the time, he tosses the phone at his nephew to keep him distracted when he sees him at home.
Because of that, he’s got a home screen full of kids' mobile games like Talking Tom and Subway Surfers.
The phone’s got a small crack in the screen from when Cheka dropped it but it wasn’t a big deal so Leona never bothered to get it fixed or replaced.
He’s got a leopard print phone case and his wallpaper is a selfie Reggie took with him sleeping and set it on his lock screen that he never bothered to change.
7/10
Again, the phone case is a no from me.
╰┈➤ Ruggie
He uses a Samsung too.
It’s an older model, like an S10+.
It’s a gift from Leona that he tossed at Ruggie one day.
Ruggie is pretty grateful for it since he was wondering how he’d contact his grandmother back at home without a phone since he wouldn’t be able to get a durable one until a while of saving up.
He takes pretty good care of it and there’s no scratches or cracks.
His wallpaper matches the selfie of himself and Leona that he set as the latter’s lock screen.
He got himself a heavy-duty phone case just to make sure it doesn’t get damaged.
10/10.
Totally not biased.
╰┈➤ Jack
He’s an iPhone user, probably sporting an iPhone 12 Pro Max. You can’t blame him for needing a large phone when he’s got pretty big hands.
He uses a clear case that’s somehow got no yellowing to it and his phone is green. It’s got a pretty wrecked battery life thanks to the younger sibling x phone syndrome.
His little sister killed the battery life with her 500 cumulative hours on Roblox and Among Us.
He doesn’t really mind since he doesn’t use his phone more than like 4 times a day.
8/10
Pretty cool.
╰┈➤ Azul
A tasteful Samsung user.
He’s one of those people who thinks iPhones are a scam and refuses to buy into it, like the classy businessman he is.
(he just has no idea how to use one).
Idk if Merfolk have waterproof phones or just communicate with echolocation but let’s pretend that the fish people have phones too.
He sports a Samsung Z Flip5 in lavender. He also has a baby blue phone case with a little seashell on it.
The twins tease him about his cutesy design choice but he shrugs it off since he knows it looks good.
It’s a shame he rarely uses the phone when he’s not going to send emails, do schoolwork and post on the lounge’s social media, though.
He also watches food ASMR videos. His wallpaper is a picture of the sea in the usual daytime lighting.
10/10
Very nice
╰┈➤ Jade
Another Android Avenger using a Samsung S22 in sage green.
His phone is in pretty good condition.
Though, he’s got a few spots of soil trapped between his screen protector and the end of his phone case.
There’s only like a single, tiny crack on his screen protector for dropping it on the floor face first when in the Botanical Garden talking to his little plants.
Can’t really blame him since he looks up tutorials when handling new spores. His phone case is transparent with (you guessed it) a pattern of little mushrooms littered on the back.
His wallpaper is a pic of him and Floyd when they were in their first year at NRC. It’s a strangely cute phone for someone as shady as Jade.
7/10
Nice, but the mushrooms r kinda overkill.
╰┈➤ Floyd
His phone doesn’t have a single crack on it.
He’s someone who takes really good care of his stuff and has a bunch of screen protectors since he knows how prone he is to dropping and accidentally throwing his phone.
His battery is fried tho since he’s notorious for playing a bunch of those silly mobile games like Fill the Fridge or Crowd City.
When he isn’t tormenting people with his deadly hugs, he’s sat perched in a corner gargoyle style with his eyes glazed over as he plays Block Blast with a score of 10,000.
Floyd’s pretty diverse with his phone case and he changes it depending on how he feels that day. Most of the time, he goes for his pale green one with an eel drawing on it, like the bag he used during the Camp Vargas event.
His wallpaper is either matching with Jade’s or a random photo of the sea he took a few days ago.
10/10
Very cool
╰┈➤ Kalim
Gets the newly released iPhone every year.
He’s not that bad though, since he gives his old one to his sibling and they pass it on to the next sibling like One For All.
His phone has no cracks on it too. He makes sure to take good care of it since he knows it’s gonna be his younger sibling’s phone in about a year and he doesn’t want them to have to use a broken phone.
He’s just nice like that. His phone case is orange with little peach circles dotted all around the back.
He’s another notorious mobile gamer with his number 1 game being Where’s My Water. His lock screen is a particularly nice-looking spread from one of the many parties he’s had over at his dorm.
10/10
Kalim is the best
╰┈➤ Jamil
Humble Samsung S21 user.
He may or may have not opted for this brand out of spite after Kalim suggested he get an iPhone so they could easily AirDrop stuff to each other.
(Quick Share is better anyway)
Isn’t much of a mobile gamer but he’s found a second home on AITA communities on Reddit.
I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them.
Jamil’s wallpaper is either something pretty like the sunset at his dorm or something silly like a selfie he took doing face masks with his sister.
As per sibling rules, however, he always makes sure to change his second lock screen any time he goes home.
She can’t know that he cares that much.
1000/10
Jamil favouritism.
╰┈➤ Vil
iPhone 15 pro max ultra mega sigma plus plus premium user.
Sometimes he has to record videos on his phone, so he needs one with the best camera and screen refresh rate possible.
It’s scary how he has no games on his phone except Wordscapes.
Believes screen time is terrible for your skin (is it?) and refuses to spend more than an hour on it outside of updating his different social media accounts.
His phone has no cracks and he hates greasy screens so best believe he’s got a glass cleaner wipe tucked into his pocket everywhere he goes.
His phone case is purple with a pop socket in the shape of a gold crown. His wallpaper is a picture of himself (ofc it is) from his favourite photoshoot.
6/10
Vil
╰┈➤ Rook
Samsung Soldier.
Rook uses a hefty Samsung Fold5.
Sometimes he needs a phone to do phone stuff and sometimes he needs a tablet to view a proper sized map of NRC for various uses I will not elaborate on for legal reasons.
When Vil takes away Epel’s phone, I imagine Rook allows Epel to use his phone to play Subway Surfers or Roblox.
Lives risky life and doesn’t use a case or a screen protector.
His phone somehow isn’t shattered especially after the billion times it’s fallen to the ground at the speed of light when he watches people from trees.
His lock screen is a Pinterest collage of Vil. 5/10
Vil
I refuse to elaborate
╰┈➤ Epel
Cracked Samsung S9.
Been using the same phone since he was 12 and refuses to let it go.
Anytime he falls, the phone disassembles and his battery goes flying.
He has to do a walk of shame each time to pick up his battery and put it back inside his phone.
Sometimes he stays up until 3 am playing COD mobile with Deuce and hides his phone under his pillow every time Vil opens his door to make sure the first years are asleep.
His wallpaper is a really cute selfie with him and the rest of the first year group. No phone case.
9/10
The battery thing is sadly relatable
╰┈➤ Idia
He uses a Samsung S24 Ultra.
Perfect mix of amazing performance as well as free rein to go into developer mode or download any 3rd party apps and modded games as much as he wishes.
Strongly believes Android is better.
When he isn’t raging at kids on Fortnite, he’s hidden in a corner of his room reading fanfic on AO3.
He will not tell a soul why his screen time shows that he has 6 hours every day on Samsung internet.
His phone case, I imagine would be a basic black with a little doodle of a cat on the back.
His wallpaper would be a pic of his PC setup when he thought it looked particularly cool.
10/10
Super techy.
╰┈➤ Ortho
He is the phone.
╰┈➤ Malleus
Uses a landline.
╰┈➤ Lilia
He has an iPhone 14 and no one can tell me it isn’t Kuromi-themed.
I’m talking lock screen, phone case, home screen, widgets, and icons.
It’s the black and pink/purple pallette that they both sport that makes my brain associate the two.
He’s got a few cracks and scratches from when he hangs upside down and his phone crashes to the ground like a missile.
One of his other lock screens is a pic of Silver when he was a baby and walking for the first time.
Don’t tell Silver, though.
8/10
Super cute.
╰┈➤ Silver
Lilia got him an iPhone 14 too so they could AirDrop things to each other and FaceTime every day for the year Lilia was at NRC without Silver.
Other than that, Silver rarely uses his phone.
His sleep timer is through the roof since he hibernates for most of the day.
He’s got a plain black phone case and everything on his phone is at default settings.
Including home and lock screens.
6/10
Very normal
╰┈➤ Sebek
Wanted to be cool like Malleus and have no phone since he does not wish to partake in the use of technology of human invention.
Instantly takes back that statement once he was out with the Diasomnia dorm and got lost in a marketplace.
Lilia and co had spent hours looking for him. After that, Lilia got him one of those “my first phone” gadgets for kids where the only contact numbers are emergency services and parents and the “parents” can easily access his location.
That way, they can prevent any accidents that creates their very own “Finding Sebek” franchise.
5/10
Very silly.

1. Absolutely hates orange juice. Thinks it tastes like medicines.
2. I feel like he could be a very organised person. Cause he obviously had his life since the get-go??? Since he was born he knew his purpose in life. So I feel like he would have his life together, including how organised he is. Closet, bathroom, bedrooms, office & documents n everything.
3. iPhone person. But he doesn’t use any costume widgets, neither Home Screen nor Lock Screen. Used the standard wallpapers cause he doesn’t bother changing them.
4. Would have 36,046 spam emails he would never bother to open. & about double as much from work. I have a feeling he would have like many thousands of notifications from each app. 25k from insta, 97k from Twitter, 29k messages 36k emails, & so on. The only people he bother responding to are his parents & friends.
5. Doesn’t give costume name to anyone on his phone. If your name is Anna Borshen? It stays Anna Borshen. 👶🏻
6. Never let’s his phone die. Like out of battery.
7. Writes sticky notes of all the smallest and minimal things he has to do. Even in his home.
8. Expensive type person. Both his home decor to his car & his office. All gives an expensive vibe. Matt black, white & silver. Perhaps gold too are the colour theme of his house, Matt black and gray are his car. And white and silver & gold his office????
9. Flexes in front of the mirror, I mean everyone does that but I feel like he would do it so much that he would cringe at himself afterwards.
10. Has an expensive looking signature, Yk the ones where it’s all scribbled up & you don’t know what it says. That exactly. Like doctor writing.
11. Really fucking good at math.
12. Secretly reads romantic books.
13. Actually knows how to treat kids. And he knows what are the differences between girls & boys and how they should be treated in their own ways.
14. Knows how to paint.
15. Hates the cold, and absolutely hates snow.
16. Likes to walk around his agency & use the power he has to walk around like he owns the place, which he does. With his heavy boots and arms crossed and bosses everyone around.
17. Heavy sleeper.
18. Dark red roses are his favourite flowers.
19. Knows how to make useful stuff out of ceramic. (Looks so hot while doing so)
20. Uses cute skin care bands when he is doing paper work at home.

Oh god, please don't do this.
Update your phone.
Maybe an argument can be made to wait a week or two just in case there are bugs in the new update, but updates are crucial to your phone's security. Updating apps is also part of that security. Unless it is an app that has no internet requirement, you need to keep them current. And if an app is no longer being supported or updated, you should probably move on to the next best thing. Even if that sucks sometimes.
And I hate to defend Apple all the time, but you cannot make current judgments based on the freakin' iPhone 4. Apple currently makes some of the longest lasting products on the market. Not only that, they support those products with software updates for pretty much their entire lifespan. Google and Samsung were being praised this year for promising 5 and 7 years of updates. Apple has been doing this for years now. They never put a number on it, but if a phone can run the software, they support it.
In fact, the big story about Apple slowing down phones is always presented as them wanting people to buy new phones, but in that case they were actually trying to extend the life of people's devices. If they hadn't throttled the CPU, the battery would have bricked a bunch of phones. Their error was not disclosing what they were doing. They got sued for that and rightly so. All people needed was a battery swap and they'd be back to full speed. It's ridiculous that Apple didn't just disclose that from the beginning.
Also, the days of phones getting too old to run new software are pretty much over. Moore's Law is slowing down and phones are incredibly powerful and anything within the last 5 years or so will probably last 7 to 10 years if you take care of it. Depending on your use, you might need a battery swap, but you should only need to replace your phone sooner if there are features you absolutely need in the new model.
Apple's big sin is not planned obsolescence but repairability. Their products are well made. They last a long time. And they tend to have fewer manufacturing defects than other brands. (In general. Your anecdotal experiences will vary.)
But... shit happens.
People drop things. They spill things. They abuse things. And when they break, you shouldn't have to get a whole new thing. Apple seems to have poorly trained diagnostic staff who commonly tell people their device cannot be repaired when the diagnosis is not apparent. Or they will misdiagnose something with a super expensive repair when it is actually a minor fix. (Which is why experienced repair shops exist and should be supported by Apple.) Apple has tried to micro-manage the repair process of their devices to such a degree that it has sparked an entire advocacy movement.
But don't let Google, Samsung, etc off the hook either. They suck too. If you are using Android thinking you have some moral high ground, they either do the same shit or they do slightly different shit that is just as bad.
Not to mention, Google is an advertising company. I don't understand people who are like, "Apple is evil, so I'm going to use this advertising platform instead." It's a lateral move, at best.
No good guys in capitalism, folks.
At minimum, repair shops should be able to use spare parts from broken devices to fix salvageable ones. And Apple is literally pairing screens and chips to one device so they can't be used to fix others. It's... diabolical.
So, update your phones.
Apple is bad at repairability but is good as far as planned obsolescence goes. Although when computers and phones eventually are able to last for 20 years, we'll see if that changes. For now, they make things that last until you fumble them into the toilet bowl and *that* is when they start to suck.
If you need a good villain to talk about planned obsolescence, I would go with Samsung appliances.

JSAUX Nylon Braided Cords (Micro USB/Lighting) - Part 2 (second half recorded)(final) (April. 6th, 2024)
No need for another “On This Day” throwback post.
Hey guys. Sorry for keeping it waited on this before this month ended. So anyways, welcome back to this continuous topic review of my new braided cables. Last time where I’d covered my long awaited charging test to my Samsung Tab E device, It’s time where I also covered my recent iPad tablet device here. Thankfully at the same day after did with my Samsung device’s charging test, I’d moved quickly to another one with my next device I’d mentioned. Without further ado, onto this final part share.
⬆️ (29th Image; back in 2:41 P.M.)
Switching things right along, I’d now recorded with my recent iPad device to charge up. Since now that with my Samsung Tab E full on battery; all thanks to my new blue braided cables from the first half review, I’m able to use it to take photos with its camera app. It worked fine from years later and the image quality was good. 👍 There’s more photos from during this second half review I’d gotten. Anyways, this here’s after letting my iPad device’s battery life drained about hours later.
⬆️ (30th to 31st Images; from 2:45 to 2:47 P.M.)
It’s a right time to bring my red colored braided cable in good use. I’d took it out to give a good look before plugging with my Apple charger adapter. It was exactly designed from my blue braided cables, but ya know; differently designed lighting type of cable.
⬆️ (32nd and 39th Images; from 2:48 to 2:57 P.M.)
Now I’m plugging to my red colored braided cable into this Apple charger adapter. Good thing now that for the adapter stills functional, but also alongside with its original lighting cable I’d previously used for my recent iPad device in few years or less. I’ll do in comparison post with my normal cables for another time. Now back to this topic review, its charging progress had finally started when checking onto my iPad device. Looks promising that I’m good for having those new charging cables; from my mom’s help we’d ordered from in Amazon.com. 🙂👍
⬆️ (40th to 41st Images; from 2:58 to 7:20 P.M.)
Hours later when checking on my iPad device’s battery, it’s now fully charged at 7:20 P.M. that sure felt this long. That’s my opinion before going to bed during nighttime. 🥱 Nevertheless, at least its get the job done with my red braided charging cable; same goes for my blue braided cable from my first half review. Though looking back its charging time from where the beginning; at 2:53 til 7:20 P.M., it took about less than 4 hours in comparison with my blue braided cable to my android tablet for 5 hours. Doesn’t matter which is charged better or quicker, I’m very glad when going through my new braided cables for the first time.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: ⬇️
Completed through this second/final half review, my red colored braided lighting type cable definitely fits to my recent iPad device. Though having to wait hours later for its charging test to get through before bed regardless. That being said, I did my best to get by when writing this review from it. All in all, I’m very happy for my new cable upgrades to set up. Do wish them last longer for future uses and among with my other tech items I can charge with.
⬆️ (From April 6th, 2024 to May. 19th, 2024)
Before signing off, here’s another close up for both braided cables that includes putting both straps in. As for its length, this is far I can get before photo shoot on my bed. Nevertheless, I’m sure they’re both similar in length beyond their differences.
Hope you guys enjoy this final review topic I’d really wanted to have. I’ll be taking care with my new braided cables as I can, but taking a break before saving some new topics and continuing ones soon. For now, here’s to a final week til June 2024 and to everyone gotten plans for the summer. Good luck! 👋
Also, this. ⬇️

I love how people will just assume my phone is shitty because it's a Motorola with a case that tells it's age. I went to the fuckin Verizon store and they're like "we'll upgrade your phone for free" and I was like , well I guess if it's free. And they were like "do you want an iPhone that will break in two years" and I was like "I'm an android user" and then they were like "well the one we can give you for free has 7 hours of battery life" and I looked at my phone which has held power for three days before and said "so you'll downgrade my phone for free then?"

How to Qualify for the Best Free Government Smartphones
Understanding Eligibility:
To get your hands on one of the best free government smartphones, you need to meet certain criteria. These phones are part of the Lifeline Assistance program and the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), both designed to help low-income families stay connected.
Who Can Qualify?
You can qualify if your income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. But that’s not all. If you’re already enrolled in government assistance programs like Medicaid, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), or SSI (Supplemental Security Income), you’re eligible too. Some lesser-known qualifications include participation in tribal programs like the Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance or Tribal Head Start.
Documents You’ll Need:
To prove your eligibility, you'll need documents like a pay stub, a tax return, or a benefits statement from a government program. If you're qualifying through income, make sure to have your most recent income statement handy. For those using government program participation, a benefits letter or card will do.
Top Providers Offering the Best Free Government Smartphones
1. Assurance Wireless:
Assurance Wireless is one of the leading providers offering free government smartphones. They provide a variety of models, often including newer options like the Samsung Galaxy A10e or the Alcatel Onyx. Along with the phone, they offer free data, unlimited texting, and a set number of free talk minutes each month. This provider is known for its wide coverage and reliable service, making it a popular choice.
2. SafeLink Wireless:
SafeLink Wireless is another top provider, offering smartphones such as the LG Stylo 6 and Motorola G Power. SafeLink stands out for its flexible plans, which allow you to bring your own phone if you prefer. Their service includes free data, unlimited texts, and a generous number of talk minutes. If you’re looking for flexibility and reliable service, SafeLink is a great option.
3. Q Link Wireless:
Q Link Wireless offers models like the ZTE Z3001S and the LG K31. They provide unlimited data, talk, and text with no monthly bills, which is a huge advantage. They also offer a bring-your-own-phone program, so if you already have a device you love, you can still benefit from their services. Q Link is known for its excellent customer service and user-friendly application process.
Lesser-Known Providers:
While the big names are popular, don’t overlook smaller providers like enTouch Wireless and TruConnect. They may offer different models or perks that could be perfect for your needs. For example, TruConnect often provides free international calling to select countries, which is a unique benefit not offered by larger providers.
How to Apply for the Best Free Government Smartphones
Applying for a free government smartphone is straightforward, but it’s important to follow each step carefully to avoid delays.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility: Before applying, make sure you qualify. Use the criteria we discussed earlier to confirm your eligibility. You can do this by visiting the Lifeline or ACP website and entering your information.
Step 2: Choose a Provider: Next, decide which provider you want to go with. This could be based on the phone model you want, the coverage in your area, or additional perks like free international calling.
Step 3: Gather Your Documents: Have all your documents ready. This includes proof of income or participation in a government assistance program. Make sure these documents are clear and up-to-date, as blurry or outdated documents can delay your application.
Step 4: Apply Online or Offline: Most providers offer an online application process, which is the quickest way to get approved. Benefits and Limitations of Free Government Smartphones
The Good:
Free government smartphones offer numerous benefits, the most obvious being cost savings. For many families, these phones provide essential access to communication, job opportunities, and emergency services. They often come with free monthly data, texts, and talk minutes, which can be a lifeline for staying connected.
The Limitations:
However, there are some limitations to consider. The phones offered are usually basic models, which means they might not have all the latest features. Additionally, the amount of data provided each month is often limited, so if you use a lot of data for streaming or gaming, you might need to purchase additional data or switch to a paid plan.
User Experiences:
Many users report positive experiences with these programs, particularly appreciating the fact that they can stay connected without any monthly bills. However, some users have mentioned that customer service can be slow or unresponsive at times, so it’s important to choose a provider with good support options.
Conclusion: Is a Free Government Smartphone Right for You?
Making the Decision:
A free government smartphone can be a valuable resource for staying connected, especially if you’re on a tight budget. With a wide range of models and providers to choose from, you’re likely to find an option that meets your needs.
Final Thoughts:
If you qualify for a free government smartphone, it’s worth applying. These phones offer essential features and reliable service, all at no cost to you. Take the time to research your options, choose a provider that suits your needs, and enjoy the benefits of staying connected without breaking the bank.

Nostalgia
One of the things I've been feeling a lot recently is nostalgia, I have a love-hate relationship with the feeling. On one hand you smile remembering good times but on the other you get sad you can never re-experience that ever again. That's why I try to enjoy so many things in the moment now. But anyway, it's been on my mind a lot. I recently watched a video about a design language called "Frutiger Aero" (video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL7kTMtvebQ) and this is what I grew up with. Skeuomorphism was rampant during these years, which is considered to be a key part of the design language. This design langauge in operating systems such as Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. These are my personal favorites not just because of nostalgia, but I feel these systems were really refined and looked really clean. It also just felt like you were in a different world, especially with some of those wallpapers. I remember as a kid I would just go through the wallpapers on Windows 7 and imagine the kind of worlds they were in. Truly a magical time. Also around this time, I was first exposed to the iPhone, namely the 4. I was too young to care about "antenna gate" and I thought a touchscreen phone was just so incredible. iOS 4 through 6 were definitely the most nostalgic for me. I remember iOS 5 on my sister's iPod Touch 4, another super nostalgic piece of tech for me. She really liked Owl City, and I would then come to listen to a lot of their stuff too. My favorites were Fireflies and then Peppermint Winter, a song I've been listening to a lot recently, with it being Christmas and all.
Enough about tech, another thing I'm super nostalgic for is TV channels back in the early 2010s. You see back then cable was actually worth watching I feel like, and definitely peaked then until Netflix took over in the mid 2010s. I also miss old Netflix from 2011. It was reasonably priced, no ads and had a good library. As far as TV networks go, I would mainly watch Cartoon Network, Nick and PBS Kids. CN was going through a huge renaissance, with tons of new shows, that are super nostalgic to me now, something I like to dub the "Check It Renaissance" referring to CN's branding at the time. A kind of weird interest of mine is channel idents or bumpers that air between programming and commercials. Check it 1.0 from CN (2010-2013) is by far the most nostalgic for me, with cool flipnote like bumpers, catchy music, and skeuomorphism galore. But PBS Kids' bumpers from around the time (and PBS Kids Go's) are also super nostalgic for me. Nickelodeon's branding was already bland af and hasn't really improved since. But I loved spongebob, drake and josh, and icarly as a kid so I would watch it frequently. I think it was just such a good time for me simply because I was a young kid. I wasn't quite aware of what happened in the world, I just enjoyed life, played with friends, and quite a few family members who are unfortunately deceased now were alive and doing very well then. I think people weren't quite as addicted to the internet back then as a lot of us are now, obviously the internet has done a lot of good over the years, getting us through a pandemic and all, but it definitely has its downsides. I just feel like back then people would only pull their phone out if they had a call, or to show it to friends/family because it was such a novelty then. I miss when technology was advancing so fast, everything new was so cool. Each new iphone was a huge improvement over the previous, while now it feels like the only thing that really improves is the battery. The iPad was first introduced in 2010, quad core processors became standard back then too in desktops and high end laptops... and desktops nowadays are STILL shipping with quad cores. I'm not saying there's been no improvements to tech- that is incredibly untrue. VR has matured a ton since the clunky Oculus DK1 from 2013, 100 core processors are now a thing apparently, Apple's M1 and M2 processors have been able to accomplish things unimaginable back in 2010, and tons of discoveries with technology has been discovered to help the medical field and such. I guess I'm just not a young kid who thinks every new piece of technology is the coolest thing ever haha.
In conclusion, I love the late 2000s/early 2010s, it was just a truly special and incredible couple of years for me. Hopefully one day things like the design language from then will make a comeback or something. Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays :)

Gonna be shopping for a new phone soon (tomorrow?) Lads. Anyone with an android have any recommendations for new phones? I guess it doesn't really need to do much other than like. Have Apps And A Camera but good battery life and least breakability is a plus. I'm also a staunch iPhone hater sorry but I won't be getting one of those it's bad enough I have to own an iPad for my Business. I'm also a little interested in magsafe/wireless charging but that's less of a necessity. I currently have a OnePlus 6T but my screen has been broken for some time and finally has peeled away from the rest of my phone, so I'm holding it together with washi tape until I can get a new one,
The Pixel 7 seems promising and within my price range but I Dunno

[Image transcripts in order: According to Apple, AirPods are part of a larger vision for a "wireless future." The Apple website introduces AirPods by stating, "Wireless headphones. Finally untangled." Wires, Apple argues, are a burden. Thus, AirPods are a product of liberation.]
[But Apple's sales pitch of liberation is not so straightforward. AirPods were introduced in 2016 alongside the debut of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which eliminated the headphone jack. The earbuds are designed to seamlessly switch from iPhone to MacBook to Apple Watch, depending on which device you're using.]
[Thus, AirPods strategically glue together an ecosystem of luxury products. They are only so "convenient” because, by eliminating the headphone jack, Apple made the iPhone less user-friendly.
Destroying the mild nuisance of headphone jacks comes at two costs: One, it locks people into a system of limited, compatible, proprietary products that are inevitably going to die in a few years. And two, it creates a dilemma at the product's end of life. If you try to recycle AirPods, a worker at a recycling plant will have to engage in the risky and mundane task of separating the glued-in lithium-ion battery from the plastic. If you try to throw AirPods away, you run the risk of starting a fire in a garbage compactor facility. And if AirPods wind up in a landfill, the earth will embed the earbuds into its crust for at least a thousand years.]
[AirPods were destined to become e-waste from the moment they were manufactured. And AirPods become e- waste after just eighteen months, when the irreplaceable lithium ion battery dies.]
[So sure, AirPods aren't the most expensive earbuds on the market, and the jokes that the product is a display of wealth are largely tongue-in-cheek. But in truth, AirPods are a symbol of wealth. They're physical manifestations of a global economic system that allows some people to buy and easily lose $160 headphones, and leaves other people at risk of death to produce those products. (Highlight) If AirPods are anything, they're future fossils of capitalism. (End highlight.)]
