Through the last six months, most of my focus has been limiting stress. With two businesses closed due to covid, my dog dying, etc. stress has been off the charts. To that end, I have been really dialing back how intensely I work out. Been training intuitively by how I feel, shorter workouts, less volume, lower percentages, small number of lifts. The first 3 months of quarantine I only did pullups, kettlebell presses, kettlebell swings, and Turkish Get Ups. The last 2 months, squats, bench, and thick grip deadlifts. If I felt tired or worn out, I didn’t lift. Most of it very sub maximal with very low volume. The air quality has kept me pretty mellow for the last week as it really affects my breathing which sucks. To that end I hit some singles today and easily maxed out all the weight I brought home. Felt good, and felt like I had a significant amount still in the tank at least on the squat (didn’t even wrap my knees). Bench ended at my comfort zone for solo lifting, not trying to get crushed 🤣🤣🤣.
