How to Treat your Friends to Boracay for only around ₱5k?

What better way to spend your birthday than going for an amazing beach getaway to Boracay with your friends? Make it more fulfilling by treating them to this wonderful paradise. My birthday trip last October was something memorable as I was able to spend it with my friends. What makes it more interesting is that we were on a budget but I was even able to treat them there for my birthday!

This Boracay trip was actually very spontaneous as we only have a month left when we booked it. I got surprised upon checking in Air Asia’s site that time that they have a promo fare to Kalibo for only ₱999 per way and it’s available on the weekend of my birthday. Though this may not be the cheapest promo, but with only a month left, this fare was unexpectedly available given the fact that it’s even for a top tourist destination. That’s why I immediately asked my friends from work if they want to come and they excitingly approved.

So how was I able to spend only around ₱5,000 including my roundtrip airfare for this birthday treat? Find out below in which I also include important tips when traveling to Boracay from Kalibo, Aklan.

Boracay can be reached through two airports: the Kalibo International Airport and the much smaller Caticlan Airport. We came from Kalibo having us to endure a 1 1/2 to 2 hours of land travel. Caticlan Airport on the other hand is just few minutes away to the port going to the island paradise.

From Kalibo, you can opt to ride an air-conditioned bus for ₱107 or an ordinary one for P87 if you’re feeling thrifty. Vans will take you to Caticlan in a shorter time for a much higher price of around ₱200.

Luckily, we were able to score a private car transfer for only around ₱2000 roundtrip for the four of us. It’s a lil’ bit higher than the said prices above but we were able to have a smooth and comfortable ride. It was like ₱250 per way for each of us. ‘Not bad. We even dropped by to a waterfall and a view deck of the beach on route.

After less than two hours of land travel, we finally arrived at the Caticlan Jetty Port. Payments were to be collected before entering the port which includes Terminal Fee (₱100), Environmental and Admission Fee (₱75) and the one-way boat fare (₱25). The boat transfer was just very quick, making you reach Boracay for just around 15 minutes.

Upon reaching the island, we hailed a Tricycle to get us to our hotel somewhere in Station 2. It cost ₱100 for the four of us.

Our accommodation was Chateau De Boracay, a newly constructed hotel (other parts were still in construction when we got there) near the beachfront. We were able to get a discounted price of ₱3,818.70 in total for our 3-day/2-night stay which already included breakfast. That was already good for four with two queen-sized beds and a private bathroom in an air-conditioned room. Click HERE to see their best rates. The staffs were accommodating enough and they even allow us to borrow some plates and utensils. Though the free breakfast was not a buffet, they gave us a second round of rice and eggs upon our request!

Due to time and budget constraint, we were not able to try the activities. I have tried some of them anyway on my previous trips to Boracay. Click HERE to check out the activities I tried last time I was there.

We were able to visit Puka Beach though since it is one of the places here in the island that shouldn’t be missed. A one way tricycle ride going there cost us ₱120 for the four of us. This beach might not be as white and powdery than the famous White Beach but this place is as equally beautiful but more serene. You could also get the best sunset in the island here!

If you’re traveling solo or in a smaller group, the best choice to roam around would be riding a tricycle for a non-special trip for only around ₱20. This means you will be with other passengers too. Another piece of advice is to just walk along the shoreline if you will just go from one station to another. You will be delighted by the view anyway.

Since we don’t want my birthday to turn out boring, we tried some of the cool bars along the beachfront. On our first night, it was my first time to try Shisha which is an instrument for vaporizing and smoking a flavored liquid. We tried the green apple flavor and it was indeed tasted like one. I was having a hard time though as I kept on puffing. LOL!

Since it was my special day, I was able to treat them for dinner the second night in one of the restaurants along the beachfront. I was only able to spend around ₱1000 for the four of us with lavish meals including Sizzling Bulalo, Steaks, and Seafood. I forgot the name of the restaurant though. But it’s just along the beach somewhere in Station 2. XD

Always take in mind the season of your travel to Boracay. If you’re on a budget, you might want to consider booking your trip anytime from July to November as this is the low season. We were there last October making our trip very budget-friendly. Good thing the weather that time was fine though.
