Your lips were caught in your husband's kiss as his tongue slid past them to tangle with yours. Large hands roam your curves before they grab the fat of your ass and pick you up. You wrap your legs around Ichigo almost instantly, lips never leaving his as your hands tangle in his bright orange hair. “Ichi...” You managed to breathe out before his tongue stole your words again.
Ichigo had been waiting to get you alone ever since the start of your night out. Seeing you in that short dress, the small glimpses of the red lace panties you wore every time you would cross and uncross your legs, your strawberry scented perfume; all of it drove him mad with lust. Lust that only you could sate.
Pulling away so that you could catch your breath, Ichigo latches his mouth to your neck and his teeth are already nibbling at the skin. He needed you so badly that he was desperate for a taste. His grunts and growls were starting to turn into needy whines and coos as he lost himself in your touch.
"Baby, I need you s'bad. Can't wait any longer." His hands slide up your thighs to press against your crotch. "Please can I? Just say the word and I'll stop." Ichigo prayed to every God that would hear him that you wouldn't say the safe word. He needed you so desperately. Needed to be inside you, pounding away at your silken walls. His warm honey eyes were filled with love and lust as he waited for your answer, fingers itching to pull down those red panties you were wearing.
You bite your lip as you contemplate his words. His kisses and needy touches left your skin on fire and only he would quench the flames he stroked. Curling your fingers into his short orange hair, pulling it to yank his head back. "Take me, Ichi. Right here against this wall." Biting down on his neck, you sucked a bright red marking on the skin and made your husband let out a moan.
Ichigo’s fingers dug into your plush hips as he bucks his hips, grinding his clothed dick into your warm center. He snapped the waistband of your panties before slipping them down your legs. He pulls away from you to place kisses down your exposed collarbone, sliding the bottom of your dress up as he sunk to his knees. Pressing needy, desperate kisses to your inner thighs, Ichigo places your thighs on his shoulders.
“Fuck, you smell so good.” His voice was a whine as he pressed his nose against the crotch of your panties, inhauling the scent of your arousal. Ichigo’s tongue lolls out and presses against the red fabric, wetting it with his saliva. He slowly glides two fingers through your slick folds as he continues to suckle on your underwear. A moan rumbles in his chest at the feeling of your drenched walls coating his digits in your cream.
You press your palms against the wall behind you, lifting your hips as you stand on your tiptoes. Your husband’s thick fingers circling your clit as he tasted the slick that coated your panties was such a sexy sight. “Ichigo...” you moa, tugging at his hair once more. “Want to feel your mouth on me. Please, baby?”
Ichigo wasted no time forgoing the red lace to latch his mouth onto your needy cunt, his tongue licking thick stripes through your puffy folds. He could never get enough of your taste. Your husband could happily spend hours between your thighs and still not get enough. His tongue teased that little pearl that peaked out from its hood, tapping on it lightly as he felt your fingers tighten in his hair.
Warmth spreads down your body, settling in the pit of your belly as you clench your thighs around his head, fingers tugging on his orange locks. Your voice begins to sing out his name in melodious moans. You move one hand off the wall to cover your mouth to muffle your cries, but Ichigo sees this as a challenge and increases the ferocity of his tongue, his fingers sliding inside your clenching walls.
“Oh fuck, Ichi!” Your muffled scream vibrated down your arm as your teeth embedded into the fleshy part of your palm. His tongue flicks over your clit in rough circles as he thrusts his fingers in deep with each drag. Your eyes begin to roll back as you begin to lose yourself in the mind numbing pleasure of your husband eating and fingering you. Each moan he drew out of you a bit louder than the last as Ichigo sucks on your clit.
Your fingers tugs at his orange locks as you could feel that ball of heat tightinening in your belly. You clench around his thick fingers as he drags them along your gummy walls, touching parts of you that you knew you could never reach. His name fell from your lips in a broken mantra sounding like the greatest symphony to him as he feasts on your cunt.
A hum vibrates from his chest and sends tingles up your body from your clit as his tongue teases it. “G’nna f’me soon, baby?” Ichigo increases the pace of his fingers, the lewd sounds coming from your center echoing around you. His tongue flicks over your swollen button as he eagerly sought to make you cum. “Please? Do it f’me?”
Hearing Ichigo's plea for you to cum on his tongue and fingers was the sexiest thing you’ve ever heard. “G’nna cum, Ichi.” You felt that tight coil of heat in the pit of your belly wind tighter with each flick of his tongue; every curl of his fingers inside your walls, brought you closer to that edge. Pushing his face even closer to your aching core, your chest heaves as you felt that coil snap and your thighs tremble around his head.
Your back arches off the wall and you bit down on your palm even harder to muffle your screams as you come hard on your husband’s greedy tongue. “Fuck...baby...” You try to catch your breath as he continues to softly lap at your puffy folds to get as much as your juices on his tigue as possible, not wanting to waste a drop.
Ichigo pulls away, licking his lips clean of your slick, his fingers still rubbing through your drenched folds. “You’re so pretty like this for me, princess.” He coos, placing a kiss to your twitching clit, sliding his tongue over it softly. Two fingers pushed back inside, thrusting gently as he slowly built back up that tight ball of heat in your belly again.
Your voice came out in soft whine as the sting of overstimulation causin you to squirm. “Ichi...please...’m sensitive.” You try to close your legs, but his other hand pries them back open as he thrusts his fingers in a little faster. “Baby~” You whine out as he starts to rub his thumb in slowly rouch circles on your swollen clit. “S’too much. I can’t.”
His eyes flash golden for a brief second as his smile seems twisted. “You can give me one more, right, princess?” His voice sounds warped as he digs another orgasm out of you. Ichigo’s relentelss pace increases as he seeks to take another climax from your clenchiing hole. “Stop being stingy and give me what I want.” Ichigo gives your inner thigh a slap as his tongue swipes back over your clit, the tip teasing that throbbing little nerve.
“Ichi...baby...’m gonna...” You didn’t get to finish your sentence as your walls began to spasm around his fingers, a small jet of clear liquid squirting out and into his mouth. Your chest heaves heavily as you struggle to catch your breath as your husband swallows your slick and crawls up your body, folding you in half against the way. “Wait...” you moan out, hearing him fumble with his belt.
Ichigo looks up and gives you a smirk as he finishes unbuckling his belt, sliding his pants down just enough for his cock to spring free. He grabs the base of it and lines it up with your dripping entrance. “No.” Your husband slowly sunk his length inside, his knees buckling from the way your warm walls greedily clung to him. “Look at this pretty cunt sucking me in so perfectly.” He pushes more of his cock into your needy center, his head coming to rest against yours. “Spirits, you’re so beautiful. Letting me fuck you against this wall like this.”
“Ichi...go...” You moan as he slowly snaps his hips into yours, the drag of his thick cock sliding in and out of you sending mind numbing pleasure throughout your body. You sunk your nails into his back, “Please? ‘m so sensitive baby.” Your walls quivered around him with each slow thrust he pushed into your already trembling body. You wouldn’t last much longer.
He heard your pleas and was going to ignore them, but he had a change of heart. “Okay, princess. Just gotta cum for me one more time. Then I’ll fuck you so good and fill you up, yeah?” His thumb comes to draw tight, rough circles on your clit as he tries to pull one more out of your tired body. “I can feel you clenching down on me.” He thrusts in deeper, slowly filling you with his length.
Your body trembles as you could feel every slow, deep thrust your husband pounds into your needy hole. The way his heavy balls slap against the curve of your ass, his deft fingers circling your clit relentlessly is your downfall. Your walls clenched and spasmes around his cock, fluttering as your slick coats his thighs as it gushes out. “Gods, Ichigo.”
His thrusting sped up almost instantly, the lewd wet sounds of skin on skin meeting echoes in your ears. You could feel his breath panting against your neck as his lips press kisses to the skin there as he fucks into you. His whines and needy whimpers were back as he mutters “I love you’s” repeatedly in your ear. The steady clap of his balls against the curve of your ass as he pumped his cock inside of you was becoming like music to you as his moans become louder.
“Fuck, baby, gonna fill you up so fucking good.” Ichigo growls, his fingers digging into your plush thighs and threatening to bruise under his grip. His usual precise thrust starts to become sloppy and uneven as his whimpering increases. “M’so close, baby. So fucking close.” His cockhead twitches within your silky depths as he couldn’t hold back anymore. Giving you a few more desperate ruts of his hips, Ichigo felt his cock swell before his sticky seed spills over inside, painting your walls white.
“So hot, baby. Feels so full.” You whimper out as he slowly rides out his orgasm. He presses sweet kisses to your sweaty forehead and you giggle lightly. “Round two when we get home?”

Imagine Tom seeing you, his ex, for to first time since he broke things off with Taylor Swift.
Tumblr media
For @disneyoncerlover815 I wrote this with you in mind, I'm working on a bit of a series that will incorporate what you've already liked (the interview and part one) apologize for timelines may alter as I go. My summary sux but you get the jest... hope you like
Plot: Tom, You, and Chris head to Australia to begin training and Pre Production for Thor Ragnork. It's been six months since you've seen Tom after a semi amicable split. He's not only nursing a broken heart from your unexpected breakup but come to find out Taylor had the press follow you around and create fake stories. Tom found out at the end of summer and broke it off, now back with a familiar family of Marvel he and Y/n must reevaluate there relationship.
Tumblr media
You stood awkwardly in front of him, not knowing what to say. It had been six months since you had laid eyes on each other and given his recent trysts with a certain country music star, you two once inseparable professionally and at times romantically had avoided each other like the plague.
"Y/N," his thick British accent made your name sound sweet, like cotton candy pressing on your tongue.
"I feel like I should be kneeling," you smiled teasing him as you leaned against the brick wall of the studio office killing time before you guys have another meeting with Marvel about the new Thor movie, a script you had loved and couldn't wait to jump into. "How are you? Can you believe we're doing another one of these?" You tried to act as casual as possible as reached for a hug, allowing him to press a swift kiss to your cheek in true British fashion.
"A little tired, it's an extension process for this one, what about you? Nice flight?" He didn't realize he had been holding your hand as he nervously let it go instead playing with the top of his water bottle.
"You know I'm terrified of Australia, but good. I'm so excited have you read the script? Chris is like over the moon for Taika." You replied playing with the lollipop in your mouth.
"Listen I just want to get this out of the way before we start and don't have a chance..I haven't been able to get in touch with you," he began but you stopped him.
Tumblr media
"Tom, you don't have to really, I appreciated the email to Stacy when you found out what had been going on, hopefully this whole thing with the three of us will fizzle out on its own." You replied flatly. "It's not your fault she manipulated the media to make this seem like a love triangle or whatever she was going for. I understand. We were together for years love and never had a problem with the press. Kim and TMZ told me it was a way for her to get the light off the feud they were having, I'm sorry we both someone how got caught up in her game," you smiled taking a sip of her drink.
Tom was almost taken aback at how calm she was, a month ago she had been screaming at his PR team as well as Taylor's.
"Right," he placed his hands in his pockets, "Still I wanted to apologize to your face. I'm really glad to see it, your face... or you I mean..." he stammered awkwardly. "You know what I mean."
You felt a blush creep over your cheeks, Tom and you had an amicable break up and were basically best friends but for some reason you two had lost touch with that. The truth was you missed him like crazy and felt like an idiot for breaking it off, everyone knowing you would ever be to stubborn to admit it, even now.
"It's not going to get in the way of work, I can assure you, if that's your concern either. I'm actually glad things are going to back to some form of normalcy. I hope now that things have settled with the past maybe we can work on going back to how things were...you were my best friend Tom and now it seems as if we're strangers," you admitted.
Tumblr media
Relief washed over him for the second time but before he could respond, "Well well," Chris Hemsworth waltzed up his flip flops smacking the concrete, "the gangs back, I had a feeling you two would be hiding in a corner... whispering with all your fancy words of Skakespeare and tea," he teased.
"I can't believe you're wearing thongs to a meeting," You laughed.
"So was Taika, come on, you're in my home. Bask in the sunshine, when we were in London it was rain and tea parties...this is going to be fun."
"I'm not going anywhere there is a spider, okay? Even if it's the beach I've already bought combat boots, I can't take any chances," you squirmed at the thoughts. "My hotel is on the highest floor, I can't even think about it.
"Spiders can fly here as well..." Chris began and when your face pales he burst out laugh even Tom chuckling.
"Leave her be before we have to sedate her, she couldn't sleep for a month when you and Liam posted on IG your face right next to a spider," Tom came to your defense.
"Elsa promised me you weren't going to screw with me, I have asthma, I can't be having panic induced panic attacks..." she warned laughing holding up her inhauler.
"I already told Elsa, were on high alert just for you, the Good Samaritan that you are giving your little brother part of your lung. I will take the best care of you from spiders and other wildlife to avoid being in the doghouse with my love. I've got to grab my bag I'll see you two up stairs," he shook Toms hands winking at him before smiling at you as he jutted back to the parking garage.
Tumblr media
"We better get inside," you smiled at him grabbing your bag from the floor but as you spun right into his chest realizing he hadn't moved.
"I miss you, y/nickname," he held your shoulders his hand sliding up to your chin meeting your eyes.
"Is that what you were doing all summer missing me?" She bit her bottom lip trying to keep her cool.
Tumblr media
"You broke up with me, if I had know the reason was. because of Y/bro/N then I would have understood. I wouldn't have let you do it that alone. I've spend half a year feeling like a failure to you and even your family. I know we have a lot of work to do but I have missed you. I want to talk to you about everything, but I have a feeling someone is going to come interrupt us again. Can have dinner with me? If you're not too jet lagged?" He smiled widely his bright blue eyes staring into yours.
"Tom taking care of me would have held you back, you were booked for 18 months filming? How could you have been there for me? And if you had tried just feeling exhausted and not putting yourself into either a hundred percent. It wasn't your responsibility, I should have been honest about it, but in the end it was for the best. I didn't want your heart to go out and get broken by her..." you couldn't even bear to say her name.
"It wasn't hers to break and you know that, we've got this, Skull Island and I've heard you're in talks to play Jed in the Night Manager, so we have the time to spend getting back on track, I can be patient but don't pull out of projects because of me or us," he signed wishing he could stop rambling.
"Hey, before we air anymore of our dirty laundry, " she placed her cool fingers across his lips, "Chris wants is all to stay with his family for the week, everyone getting acquainted and I think that's probably the safest setting, Taikia rented the house next to theirs for the duration, he wants us to move from the hotels at least for the first few weeks of workshops, I wasn't going to go but if you can keep me spider free, I'll change my mind."
"Okay.." he nodded a matter of factly, crew started filing in as he lead you towards the big glass doors of the Marvels meeting room, feeling a sudden change in the air.

It took Kiri a couple of times to get used to my routine but he also enjoys our wash day quality time, especially because another day during the week I clean and take care of his hair for him! But he doesn’t let me bleach his roots when I’m pregnant
Cause he doesn't want you to inhaul those toxic fumes. He will do them himself or let Mina do them for him while you're resting or out on a spa day.
Itachi won't even let me near the salon anymore. He declared that only he knows how to properly take care of my hair. 😒

“Yeah? That’s my girl.” Itachi smiles proudly, his thumbs gently wiping away your tears and he gives you a kiss on the nose. “Hungry? We’ll get dinner and head home so you can get some rest, okay?” He hums when you nod your head and gives you a few more kisses to your cheek before finally standing up so he can head to his side of the car. It feels like a weight has been lifted off his chest now that you two were able to work through this but he still plans on finding a way to get his revenge on Neji because no one messes with you as long as he’s around to protect you.
I smile a bit more happily as I wave to Hinata and Naruto as Itachi drove passed them. Bringing the flowers to my face, I inhaul their sweet scent. "Thank you for the flowers, baby." I reach over and grab his hand to squeeze it softly. "Can we just get it to go? I just wanna be with you."
I play with his fingers softly. "Maybe we can cuddle in bed and watch movies?" I suggest. I just wanted him close and to have his arms around me. I wanted to feel safe and secure.

"Answer 15.12— (November 1963)
I confess that what I thought was a new problem turns out, as Dmitri Borgmann informed me, to be one of the first English word squares ever published! In a letter to the British periodical Notes and Queries for July 21, 1859, a reader signing himself 'W. W.' spoke of the word-squaring game 'which has of late been current in society' and proceeded to give the following example: Circle, Icarus, Rarest, Create, Lustre, Esteem. 'There are very probably,' he wrote, 'other ways of squaring the circle.'
Yes, when I published the problem in Scientific American about 1,000 readers found more than 250 different ways of doing it. I despair of summarizing the variations. The most popular choice for a second word was Inures, with Iberia, Icarus, and Isohel following in that order. The square composed by the most (227) people was: Circle, Inures, Rudest, Crease, Lesser (or Lessor), Esters. Almost as many (210) sent essentially the same square, with Lessee and Esteem as the last two words.'This was done with ease,' wrote Allan Abrahamse, in punning reference to the fact that a main diagonal of this square consists entirely of E’s. Fifty-six readers found Circle, Inures, Rumens, Create, Lenten, Essene.
The most popular square with Iberia as the second word was Circle, Iberia, Recent (or Relent, Repent, and so on), Create, Linter, Eaters (or Eatery). The most popular with Icarus second: Circle, Icarus, Rarest,Create, Luster, Esters. With Isohel second: Circle, Isohel, Roband (or Roland), Chaise (or Chasse), Lenses, Eldest. Each of these three squares was arrived at by more than a hundred readers.
Of some 40 other words chosen for the second spot, Imaret was the favorite. More than 40 readers used it, mostly as follows: Circle, Imaret, Radish, Crissa, Lesson, Ethane. Many squares with unusual words were found by one reader only; the following are representative:
Circle, Imoros, Romist, Crimea, Losest, Estate (Frederick Chait).
Circle, Isolux, Rosace, Claver, Lucent, Exerts (Ross and Otis Schuart).
Circle, Iterum, Refine, Cringe, Lunger, Emeers (Ralph Hinrichs).
Circle, Isaian, Rained, Cingle, Laelia, Endear (Robert Utter).
Circle, Ironer, Rowena, Cnemis, Lenite, Eraser (Ralph Beaman).
Circle, Inhaul, Rhymed, Camise, Lueses, Eldest (Riley Hampton).
Circle, Irenic, Regime, Cnidus, Limuli, Ecesis (Mrs. Barbara B. Pepelko)."

“Beautiful...”
@fangsbled
He whisper looking beyond the glass at the venom and python mix. She radiated magic from her very coiled core. He could even smell how toxic her venom was on her lips. Shutting his eyes he inhaul the bitter but nevertheless intoxicated scent of death from her. His hands caressed the glass wanting to get past it.
His breath fog the glass, “Here I came for rune stones and find a queen in the making.”
He had venture to find some Greek wannabe dark wizard. The fool collected something that belong rightfully to Lord Voldemort only to find his true treasure locked in a small aquarium.

New J/121
The new J/121 is a 40’ offshore speedster that can be day raced or distance sailed by just 5 or less crew… the best short-handed J ever….
The first J/121 was launched in Rhode Island this week. Within 15 minutes the Southern Spars carbon deck- stepped mast was installed, shrouds pinned and the next few hours the rigging systems were assembled.
By late afternoon, the design and build team, several suppliers and the new owner, were rewarded with a beautiful first sail on Narragansett Bay. The J/121 took off with the very first puff once the new carbon North Sails were raised, and even with twice the normal number of crew onboard the boat responded immediately. There is a light touch on the wheel, combined with a big boat feeling of substantial stability and control. Everyone is raving about the uniquely open, secure and comfortable cockpit design on this boat. There are versatile trimming and driving positions and clear/wide paths for crossing the boat during all manoeuvres. The twin wheel system with floor mounted traveler provides open access to the back of the boat and great visibility of headsails from the helm both while sitting and standing.
This exciting first sail and introduction to the J/121 did hint at her speed potential both upwind and down. After sailing close hauled for a few miles tacking back and forth and tweaking shroud turnbuckles, jib leads and inhaulers, the team was excited to turn the corner and try out the A2+ asymmetric spinnaker. The spinnaker filled and the boat accelerated quickly and confidently, jumping to double-digit boatspeed with ease.
Hull #1 will be featured at the Newport RI and Annapolis Shows, and hull #5 is headed for Melbourne in the early new year.
About the J/121
The J/121 is the answer for those seeking a boat that offers compelling performance with less crew, all-around sailing versatility, low maintenance, and is fully ocean capable to be delivered on its own bottom anywhere. The J/121 is a return to the shared adventure, sail-with-friends style of sailing and racing. This design hits all the hot buttons for J/sailors, but will appeal to new entrants to the sport who are drawn to turnkey adventure sailing with a pre-planned event schedule and readily available event support only the J/Network can provide.
Creating the best short-handed J ever starts with a hull shape that excels on all points of sail. Straight-line speed is the name of the game and is achieved by having a low drag, efficient hull with high form stability and exceptional balance. Add to this a highly engineered carbon rig package, an L- shaped low VCG keel, infused composite construction, and a water-ballast assist system that adds nearly 400 kilos (4 big guys) of crew weight to the rail and you have the J/121.

Simplified Sail-Handling
Handling a 40 footer with five or fewer crew requires a rig, sail and deck plan that simplifies sail handling. New technology developed for the Vendee Globe, Volvo Race and other extreme offshore sailing events, is trickling down faster than ever, particularly in new furling systems. The J/121 class sail inventory features an AP furling J1 jib, a hoistable furling J4 inside the forestay, a furling Code Zero flown from the bowsprit, and an all-purpose A2 asymmetric runner with a zip hoist and snuffer takedown. Each headsail can be furled or snuffed, meaning less hands on the foredeck and more compact sail stowage below. Combine that with a mainsail on slides that can be quickly adjusted to three different sizes (via a double reef system) and you have a versatile, manageable sail combination across most wind/sea conditions.
Versatile, Ergonomic Cockpit
J/121’s ergonomic cockpit builds upon the award-winning J/111 design, with excellent working space, protection from the elements behind a soft dodger or hard canopy, and exceptional twin steering stations that allow the driver to straddle the wheel and reach all the mainsail controls while driving. Clean line sights forward from the helm and trimming positions provide immediate gear-changing input. The hydraulic backstay system features a remote pump and release button on the forward face of each wheel binnacle. Water ballast controls are cockpit led so that the on-deck crew can easily manage tank to tank transfer. Electric primary and secondary winches are available (and class legal) for push button trimming ease.
J/121 Spacious, Open Interior
When the team needs moments of respite, the J/121 interior is clean and simple but beautifully finished with a feeling of space not often found in fast offshore racers. The interior is offered in Herreshoff classic (white with varnished trim accents) or modern GP Racer (white on white). For the “armchair navigator,” both onshore and offshore, there is no substitute for a comfortable nav station to house all of today’s modern electronics and entertainment systems. The L-shaped galley features a stove, SS sink, and large icebox with storage drawers and shelves to feed the hungry crew. Amidships settees are full-length for sleeping and offered in over/under configuration. The head/shower is aft to starboard near the companionway, perfect for offshore sailing. Forward of the main bulkhead is sail storage with an option for a removable V-berth.

How to fix running rigging at sea: Top tips from pro sailor Pip Hare
Pip Hare shares her top tips on how to fix running rigging while at sea and reveals what’s in her jury rig fix-it kit
When racing across oceans I am constantly torn between loading my spares and repairs kit with everything including the kitchen sink, and the need to keep weight to a minimum.
Over the years I’ve been learning to make do with less and the reality is with modern materials most rigging problems can be addressed using the same simple, lightweight kit which will do well for any sailing.
My jury rig fix-it kit contains:
Plenty of lashing of different sizes
Soft shackles
Spare blocks and low friction rings
Pre-made Dyneema loops
Webbing strops
Hanks of strong elastic
Using this kit the following are some of my solutions to address common failures on ocean-going yachts.
Jib cars and travellers
Breakages to sliding cars will leave you with an uncontrollable sail and a problem that cannot be fixed in a matter of minutes. The issue with jury rigging anything that has been on a track is finding suitable fixing points and then spreading the load adequately across them.
Making a jury rig for anything on a track will take time, so first tame your sails. If fixing a traveller drop the main and sail under jib alone; for the jib, try sailing on the other tack – particularly if beating as this will keep your repair side out of the water, using a staysail if you have one or simply dropping the jib.
The simplest way to jury rig a traveller is to create a single fixed point for the mainsheet in the middle of the boat, then use the vang to maintain leech tension when the mainsheet is eased.
If there happens to be a central padeye to the correct rating directly under the after end of the boom then that is your solution. However, as travellers are more normally over a coachroof or the aft deck, the main problems to address are spreading the load, avoiding chafe, and keeping the fixing point for the mainsheet low in the boat.
If the track is raised off the deck you could loop Dyneema or webbing strops under several sections of the traveller, then join them in one central point for the main sheet. Ensure your looped strops are as short as possible so there can be maximum travel on the mainsheet purchase system.
If the track is flush to the deck you’ll need to create a bridle across the boat to attach the mainsheet to. Find four suitable fixing points (two on each side); these could be mooring cleats, padeyes for spinnaker blocks, or the toerail itself.
Take four lengths of Dyneema lashing and make a loop from each fixing point that ends in the centre of the boat (try to make all of the loops the same length). The mainsheet bottom block can be attached through all of the loops in the centre of the boat. Check regularly for chafe on the loops, especially if using the toerail as a fixing point.
Jib car systems can be simpler to fix with a single block attached either to the toerail or a padeye on the deck. Try to place the block in an average setting for jib leech tension – if you still want the ability to close off the leech while sailing, try setting up a barber hauler further forward along the jib sheet, using a small diameter line and a block.
Dead-end the line and the block to the same fixing point on the deck, forward of your jib sheeting point. Run the line up and over the jib sheet then back down through the block and along the deck to the cockpit.
Pulling down on the line will move the sheeting angle for the jib forward and close the leech. There will be friction in this system and care needs to be taken when releasing it, but it is surprisingly efficient. Likewise, if the new sheeting position is too far outboard upwind an inhauler can be rigged in the same way.

During last year’s ARC I was to be found at one point on the pulpit restitching the foot tape of…
Vang problems
The usual problem with jury rigging a vang is connecting it to the boom – and this can be done using a couple of webbing strops. In this case I would use webbing rather than Dyneema as the flatter surface area will spread load across the boom.
Attach one broad strop around the boom, join it at the bottom and attach a top block to it. Take a line around the top of the strop and then aft along the boom to hold the strop in position under load – the vang itself will be pulling forward.
It is likely your original vang system used double blocks – you may be able to reuse them, or you may need to set up a cascade system using blocks or low friction rings to create enough purchase to hold the boom down.
Broken winches
If one of your winches breaks on passage and you are not carrying the spares or do not have a weather window to fix it, you will need to get inventive routing ropes around the cockpit. If winching straight across the boat to the same winch on the other side, use the broken winch as a turning post to gain the right height.
If the winches are outboard of a raised coaming then instead set up a turning block or low friction ring on the toerail or a padeye to gain height before going across the cockpit.
I prefer to use soft shackles for my snatch blocks and jury rigs, but if fixing blocks to aluminium toerails, check for rough edges and use a stainless steel shackle on the toerail if concerned about chafe.
Hold the block up to a guardrail with elastic so it doesn’t hit the deck when the sheet is not under load. For temporarily holding a line while looking to route to an alternative winch, use a good old fashioned riding turn to create a hobble to keeping the rope in place.
Top tip
When making splint repairs or lashing two solid items together use wide diameter elastic to make the first lashing, then finish with Dyneema once they are in place. When pulled tight, a strong elastic is best able to hold items in position and under tension, making it much easier to make the more permanent Dyneema lashing tight.

Low Friction Rings: like a donut, but sweeter
As the quotable quote demands, “ask not what your vang can do for you, ask what you can do for your vang”. OK, maybe that’s not exactly how it goes – but after a few months on a pace through the islands to relative weather security in Grenada, there’s time to catch up on projects aboard Totem and tweaking the vang crept to the top of the list. Swapping that weighty block for low friction ring– the pair pictured above– is a sweet upgrade.
Boom vang improvement
When we bought Totem in 2007, she had a 4:1 tackle vang. No hydraulics, no springs, and also, no good. Thus began a series of efforts to improve the situation.
Totem’s vang upgrade history:
Evaluated new vang hardware. Choked on cost. Evaluated contents of rigging locker instead.
Refastened boom vang tang, with new larger fasteners (old ones were pulling out).
Converted 4:1 vang to cascading 8:1 vang with a block we had and $10 of Dyneema line.
Boom vang tang pulling away from boom AGAIN. Just say NO to more holes in Swiss cheese boom! Removed tang and replaced with strop around the boom, made from $10 of Dyneema line.
Mast vang tang broke. Replaced with strop going around the mast, made from $10 of Dyneema line.
8:1 was good. 16:1 is better! Added another cascade with a block we had and $10 of Dyneema line.
$40 worth of ¼” Dyneema line and the vang was powered up! Ten years later, our vang is a refined simpleton of rigging goodness.
Why is the vang important?
It adds performance when reaching, by controlling mainsail twist (shape of the upper leech). It helps mainsail longevity by reducing chafe against rigging caused by the boom’s rise and fall when running. Also when running, the vang keep the boom from lifting and possibly inducing an unintended gybe. What happens if the boom lifts, is the upper leech collapse towards the luff, and can “back” – gybe! We run with a boom preventer, but the vang cuts the risk further.
To hang a thrifty vang left me wondering if the dang vang would go bang! Well: 46,000 nautical miles later, it did, sort of.
During those years and miles, our cockpit shrank. We blame the children. They just keep growing! Shifting the fiberglass hard top dodger forward about one foot succeeded in opening up the human space…while taking away from the vang space. And this made the vang go BANG! When the vang was eased, the upper block drooped and smacked the dodger front.
Enter the low friction ring. Modest and elegant. Simple and thought provoking. What the heck does it do? It’s a type of block, but with no moving parts. And a block without moving parts means, FRICTION! Huh? To address this minor inconvenience, marketing geniuses confronted the problem by naming a frictiony block – a Low Friction Ring.
Replacing the heavy block with a lightweight low friction ring was the elegant solution to fixing Totem’s vang…no more bang. Let’s not talk about the Swiss cheese boom feature, but you can see why we opted for a strop some time ago.
This view brought to you by Mt Hartman Bay, Grenada
What’s the deal with Low Friction Rings?
Why choose a block with more friction and a sneaky name? Several reasons.
No moving parts! Yes, more friction, but no shattered sheave, chipped cheek, or busted ball-bearings.
Really strong! Alloy construction and geometric shape result in far higher working loads per block size.
Lightweight and tough! No maintenance required, just inspect now and then for rough edges or chafe.
Low cost! As rigging and blocks go, it’s cheap. The one we used in the vang tweak is under $20.
Sounds fantastic, but… isn’t friction not so fantastic on a boat? Well, yes, and no; despite having some friction, low friction rings are a great choice in two types of applications.
Small line deflection
A line going through a block changes angle. This is called deflection. As deflection increases, so does friction. Moderate and big line deflection is the place for blocks with moving parts. Lesser line deflection has less friction, so may be perfect for low friction rings. Possible applications are: furling lines, parts of a lazy jack, foreguy, afterguy, and don’t forget the inhauler! There is no fixed number on maximum angle of deflection, because the amount of line load and type of line affect the amount of friction.
Static and slightly dynamic lines
A mainsheet has a lot of deflection and changing line loads. This is friction soup with a need to make adjustments – so it stays in the realm of blocks with moving parts. Other application can have a little or a lot of line deflection, but not require dynamic adjustment. Set it and forget it. This is the place for low friction rings. And this is where our upper vang block comes in. The line deflects 180 degrees and carries no load or a lot of load, and not much adjustment. My sailboat racing brain scoffs at the thought, but it works for cruising. Tighten the vang, secure, and enjoy the ride.
Other static and slightly dynamic line applications include preventer, leech reef, check stays, running backstays, and barbour hauler. Since this application can have big deflection and line load, the important part is that the adjustment amount must be minimal. There will be FRICTION, so if the line requires much adjustment use a conventional block. When it doesn’t, try a low friction ring for a fraction of the cost.
How a low friction ring is setup is easier to understand in pictures than my clumsy writing: here are some examples of use on Totem.
Mainsail reefing
The leech reef line forms an acute angle passing through the leech reef ring in the sail. Consequently, the reefed portion of sails gets scrunched by the unreefed portion of sail and reef line, which can make reefing harder and cause sail chafe. The solution is low friction rings lashed to the leech reef ring. Use 3mm Dyneema line for the lashing, with 6 inches of separation between reef ring and low friction ring. Now the leech reef line passes through the low friction ring giving enough separation so the reefed section of sail isn’t so scrunched. The low friction ring is smoother and has a wider turning radius then the reef ring, making reefing a little easier with less chance for chafe. (More about reefing in this post.)
Furler line lead
Totem’s furler line had been lead after through blocks on the toe rail. See where Siobhan’s hand blithely rests on that Andersen winch? Trace the furler line forward from there, and see the inset zoom for where two low friction rings (orange circles) are used.
The blocks previously in that spot banged on the deck, they were subject to wear/tear, and were generally just toe stubbers. You can use fancy blocks with a spring, but have you looked at what they cost? Right. That’s most of our monthly food budget! So instead of spendy blocks, Jamie lashed low friction rings as leads: a temporary setup, you know, just to trial the solution. It’s been a YEAR, they work great, and are still in their “temporary” position!
Preventer turning block
Swapping out turning blocks used in our preventer setup is on the shortlist for low friction rings on board.  The blocks can flail around, banging the deck, and we know at least one of them shows signs of wear. The blocks in question: one on each side, at the forward point.
There are a few ways to do this, but swapping the block for a low friction ring just feels like the obvious solution. Here, the fact it won’t bang as much is actually secondary to an even more desirable benefit: the ring is a stronger piece of hardware. More robust? cheaper? that’s easy! And let’s talk about systems on board we don’t want to break… the boom preventer is up there. For a more detailed description of our preventer setup, see Safety on Board: preventer setup on Totem.
Other uses of a low friction ring are climbing their way up the project shortlist. Got any to share? Add in the comments or share on Totem’s Facebook page.
