TL;DR A fear of writing characters of highly marginalized identities shields you from criticism and discomfort, but it's actively stigmatizing to people of these identities and as a writer you really need to get over yourself and write The Icky People.

I guess I'll come out swinging on this one and say that fandom doesn't like severe mental illness. (As a note, when I say severe mental illness (SMI) I mean illnesses such as psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, personality disorders, etc)

Obviously, nobody likes people w/SMI. It's just insanely egregious in fandom to me, since fanfic writers absolutely love writing characters or HC characters with depression, anxiety, or a specific variety of PTSD That Isn't Scary. People actively reject any character HCs for a SMI. When people write a character with SMI, they nicely downplay it, ignore it, substitute it for a disorder they like better, or rewrite it. It's completely untolerated, in both headcanons and in fanfiction, and every time I bring it up I always get the most interesting reasons why somebody couldn't possibly acknowledge a character's SMI in their writing. I've heard all of these:

"I don't know enough about the disorder to write it accurately." Do research.

"I'm not X, so I can't really depict it." You probably aren't a cis white man, but you depict those guys just fine.

"It feels insulting to the character." There is no shame in having a SMI.

"I can't understand what it's like, so it's better to be cautious and avoid giving characters stigmatized identities." There are LOTS of experiences that you'll never understand because you've never had them - you just don't want to write anything you're uncomfortable with. People with SMI make you uncomfortable, and you don't want to write anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, or think of a comfort character in an uncomfortable way. SMIs are marginalized differently than solely depression/anxiety/The Nice PTSD, and by refusing to write them you're actively contributing to the stigma.

I think (?) I've spoken in the past about how I believe that the rigorous external and internal policing of writing people of marginalized identities is actively harmful towards efforts to increase diversity of experience and background in fiction. A lot of fanfiction writers are just terrified to write people who they can't directly relate with, because they're worried 'they'll get it wrong' and be Big Cancelled. I think this is negative enough when it prevents people from going outside of their comfort zone, but on a macro level I think this results in people refusing to write characters of marginalized identities as all. It's an insidious thought process, and it's reflected in people's unwillingness to diversity their writing or acknowledge canon diversity.

'Well, I don't understand what it's like to be Black, so I don't want to write Black people'. 'I want to project on this character, so I only want to write them with mental illnesses and identities I have'. 'If I write a marginalized character incorrectly people will yell at me, so I won't write a marginalized character who's marginalized differently than me at all'. Can you imagine writing a lesbian character with a boyfriend because 'you feel uncomfortable writing lesbian experiences'? It's blatantly homophobic. But people do that with disability and race/ethnicity ALL THE TIME.

People with SMI notice that you feel uncomfortable with them. It's obvious. They notice when a character has a SMI + anxiety, and you only write their anxiety. They notice when a character displays symptoms of a SMI in canon, but you write it out. And POC notice when the characters of color are written out. I know we all like to project on the blorbos and relate to them, and in the joys of your own head do whatever, but as a writer if you only stick to identities you're comfortable with you are actively being a worse writer. Which to me is the REAL sin lmfao.

I know the look of suffering. I’ve seen it on every single face of my clients. They’re withered, pale, and have been through shit that I wouldn’t want happening to my daughter.

But they aren’t inscrutable. No, not at all. In fact, most of them are easily understood. A background check later, in which I poured hours into researching, and I know my client’s entire history, along with the path they’ve trekked with the one they want dead. They’re always intertwined, you see. After all, you can’t want somebody killed without a proper reason. They usually share a long-winded, complicated history filled with unspeakable torment and abuse, the finer details bloody and gruesome, and the client will finally reach out to me because they simply have nowhere left to turn, all options exhausted, that little fire of hope ready to burn out.

I don’t consider myself someone’s salvation, of course. That would be comparing me to an angel when I’m merely a professional. When I snuff out someone’s life, it’s clinical and precise, practised and executed all according to the client's will. I need their full permission to fire in order for there to not be any regrets. I don’t need their sorrow weighing me down when it’s time; it might affect my trigger finger.

Finally, he lets her take a seat, but rather than taking the open spot next to her, he climbs up to the next level of seats and sits behind her, his feet on the bleachers on either side of her hips, and leans forward.

Beth hadn’t given much thought to how…intimate this position would feel after a few minutes. She can feel it every time that Rio shifts as they chat about nothing.

All of those thoughts and feelings bubbled up when Rio snapped at her, pushing her to kill the man bound at their feet.

Beth hadn’t even realize the gun was pressed against her temple until she looked up at Rio’s expression.

She almost couldn’t believe she’d done it, but she most definitely wasn’t surprised that she woke up to the same old song. Her heart felt both heavy and vacant. A cold numbness snuffing out everything inside her like water over flame.

google searching: a step-by-step guide (with examples)

hey guys, admin rumu here~ we’ve already provided a fairly straightforward guide to google searching in our tips, but it seems some people are still having some issues. if you needed something a little more in-depth or if you were just curious about the process, this is for you! this will be very lengthy as i will be going through every step with different asks. i will not be addressing searching with google cache but if you’d like to see how that's done, dawn has already explained it in this post.

our searches are based on what you send us. if you’re looking for a fic but are confused about what terms to use in your search, write an ask like you’re going to send it to us (but don’t actually send it yet). i’ll be showing you how asks get turned into google searches using some of the asks we’ve previously received, so try this with your own!

general rules (these apply to all examples except example 1)

1. as you might have seen in the google section of the tips, there are some keywords that every search should have:

-the pairing (namjoon/seokjin/yoongi/jimin/taehyung/jungkook) (if you don’t remember the pairing, use the generic ‘bts’) -the platform (tumblr/ao3/etc.) (*if you don’t know where you read it, do not include this) *IF YOU READ THE FIC ON AO3, YOU MAY NOT FIND IT ON GOOGLE. you can (and should) still try, but google gets weird searching for ao3 fics. you might have better luck using ao3′s fic searching system first.

2. USE QUOTES IN APPROPRIATE SITUATIONS. quotes are only useful if used correctly, but they can make a HUGE difference. conversely, use them incorrectly and your search will not work.

3. make sure to actually read through your search results! don’t just assume it’s not what you’re looking for. if it looks like it could be a potential match, click on it and find out.

now let’s take a look at some examples:

*example 1: looking for a specific blog

we already have a tutorial on how to find lost blogs (you can find the link for that in the tips) but maybe you still can’t find it. thinking about asking us? try tumblr search/tags first, then google, then check our lost blogs list (link also in the tips), THEN ask us.

for these asks, you would search the blog name in quotes followed by ‘tumblr’ (e.g. “mintedmango” tumblr or “bluesxde” tumblr)

example 2: you remember...something (it’s extremely vague)

maybe you sent an ask without reading our tips (specifically the part showing how to write an ask for the best results), or maybe you did read them and unfortunately this is really all you remember. we hate to say this, but if you send us an ask like this your chances are slim to none.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: seokjin/reader fic type: one shot au: best friend

as you can see, there is little to no information here. even if we’ve read the fic they’re looking for, we probably wouldn’t have any idea what you’re talking about. in these situations, we probably would not make any suggestions because there are far too many to list. if you don’t send us more details, then there’s nothing we can do :(

example 3: you remember the title

depending on how unique the title is and how accurate your memory is, this should be fairly easy.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: title: somebody else pairing: taehyung/reader writer: aiscka

unless you misremembered the title or the title is an extremely common word/phrase, you should be able to find the fic simply by using quotation marks. if the title is a common word/phrase it would help to include other details in your search, but if the title is unique enough you probably wouldn’t need it. for this example, you could search: “somebody else” taehyung bts fanfic tumblr and you would be able to find this:

this is one of the top results but maybe you don’t feel like clicking through all the potential options to find the right one. the anon knew the author is this case, so they could also find the fic by searching: “somebody else” aiscka taehyung bts fanfic tumblr which would allow them to find a reblog from the writer’s previous name.

having more details will narrow your search down and make it faster for you to find what you’re looking for.

example 4: you remember the plot and specific/unique keywords (best case scenario)

the more details we have, the better chances we have of finding it. we are not exaggerating when we say we want you to send us EVERYTHING YOU REMEMBER. think we can find it even without all that? or perhaps you aren’t sure if it’ll help? maybe so but it doesn’t matter, we want it anyway!

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: namjoon/reader au: aquarium, veterinarian/doctor, single parent, twins plot: reader meets namjoon and his sons at the aquarium while working

more specific details = more search options but this is enough for us to work with because these details have unique keywords (note: we would still prefer you give us more details than we need than not enough. PLEASE SEND US EVERYTHING YOU REMEMBER). my first search for this would be: namjoon reader tumblr fanfic "aquarium" i can immediately find:

i’ll still skim through the fic to double check, but just based off this i can already tell this is probably what we’re looking for! some other searches we could have tried are: namjoon reader tumblr fanfic "aquarium" vet namjoon reader tumblr fanfic veterinarian “twins” namjoon reader tumblr fanfic single father veterinarian all of these would find the fic we want, and i’m sure you could try other combinations as well. notice that some words have quotes around them and some don’t. how do you know which ones to use quotes for? if you are SURE that those are the exact word/words, put them in quotes. if you don’t know for sure how it was phrased, consider trying searches with and without quotes. ‘single father’ with quotes will only search for ‘single father’. ‘single father’ without quotes will give you results for ‘single dad’, ‘single parent’, ‘single fathers’, etc. in this example, you can see that the correct phrase was ‘single dad’, so not using quotes was the right idea!

example 5: you remember the plot and a name

searching for names is tricky. keep in mind that names must be exact. if you get the spelling wrong, a name will be useless as a keyword and will probably ruin your search.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: taehyung/reader au: best friend, fuckboy(?) plot: reader is best friends with taehyung, taehyung is blowing reader off for his girlfriend named vicktoria

there are a couple of issues with searching for this: -there is no universal spelling for fuckboy/fuckboi/fuqboii/etc. we all know they mean the same thing, but people can spell it however they want. unfortunately, google doesn’t know how to handle that. it’s also possible that the fic was not tagged with fuckboy, but there was fuckboy behavior present. either way, very difficult to google. -plot events can be hard to search for since it could happen over the span of multiple chapters and/or be explained different ways and google doesn’t know how to search for that either. plot points are useful for fic verifying, but not so much for fic searching. -the aus for this fic are very common. if not for one keyword, this would have been near impossible to search for and to verify. 

you could probably guess what the initial search would be: taehyung “vicktoria” bts fanfic tumblr from that you would get:

based on the description, this search result is worth checking out. note that if they had remembered the name as ‘victoria’ or ‘something starting with a v’, this probably would not have worked.

example 6: you vaguely remember the premise, but nothing in detail

unfortunately there isn’t much you can do without specifics. there are TONS of fics out there and we simply cannot find what you’re looking for if there isn’t enough detail. we will try our best, but just know that you should not expect much.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: taehyung/reader/? fic type: multiple chapters au: yandere plot: reader is in some kind of danger and is saved by taehyung

not very specific, which is why we ask that people try to be as detailed as possible! this ask is pretty vague and it’s difficult to search for a fic without concrete details. ‘yandere’ is a pretty unique keyword so you might want to put it in quotes (some yandere fics aren’t tagged as yandere, but i’m going to assume it was in this case). NOTE: each exact term/phrase should get its own quotes. for example, it would be “taehyung” “yandere”, not “taehyung yandere” so from there you could have: tumblr taehyung “yandere” reader fanfic this search is still extremely broad so there will be a lot of irrelevant results. if you have the patience to check all the pages on google you can, but it would definitely take a while and you might not even find it. too many terms could confuse your search but less terms means more to look through. unfortunately everything from here would be guesswork. if it’s not in quotes, google will include results that are a match for synonyms and/or different tenses. let’s say my search is: tumblr taehyung “yandere” reader fanfic die rescued you can tell i’ve chosen those words based off of the plot detail. from the term ‘rescued’, google could give me results for ‘saved’ (synonym) or ‘rescue’ (word tense variation). click through the google pages and scan through your results. if the google summaries seem like they could be a match, check it out. if not, try a different search. from that search, i found:

it seems like a potential match since it’s a yandere taehyung fic involving another member, so i skim through the fic and check the details (reader is involved in a life or death situation and is saved by taehyung, fic is not a oneshot).  this fic is only a suggestion as it’s possible this isn’t the right fic. from there we would ask for confirmation/denial, and unfortunately a lot of fics get left as pending. if your fic is pending, PLEASE let us know if it’s correct or not!

*edit: this fic was not the fic the anon was looking for, but we’ve received a potential fic suggestion from another anon. if this was your ask, please check back in!

example 7: you remember the plot and details, but you don’t remember the pairing

this might be tough since the pairing really helps narrow the search results down, but it’s not a deal breaker if you have enough unique keywords.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: jungkook/?(taehyung/hoseok/jimin) platform: ao3 au/genre: soulmate (red string), demons(?) plot: jungkook can manipulate his string, jungkook cuts his string, jin and namjoon are in a relationship, jungkook gets sick at jin and namjoon’s house, alex(?) is a demon(?), jungkook gets tricked by alex(?)

lots of information so lots of potential searches, but unfortunately a lot of unsurety. the concrete words here are going to be ‘jungkook’, ‘soulmate’, and ‘red string’, but everything else is up in the air. it’s even more complicated because it’s an ao3 fic and like i said before, google gets weird with ao3. 

my first search for this would be: jungkook fanfic “soulmate” “red string” “alex” note that i did not include the other half of the pairing in my search terms. if you want to take a guess for the pairing you can (i would have guessed taehyung because taekook is the most popular pairing for jungkook on ao3), but it’s best not to take too many leaps in logic from the very start. i usually save that for the end when i’m just trying my luck with different searches. i also chose not to include the platform in this search in case it was crossposted and could be found elsewhere. the initial search does not provide any promising results. after that i might try searches like: jungkook fanfic “soulmate” “red string” “manipulate” jungkook fanfic “soulmate” “red string” “alex” jungkook fanfic “red string” manipulate sick jungkook fanfic “red string” “soulmate” demon but unfortunately the fic doesn’t turn up for these either. now we’ve got to start guessing. i won’t lie, this is pretty difficult. i typically try to think about how the fic might be written/consider the most obvious or common way for them to say something and make guesses from that. i might try something like: jungkook fanfic “soulmate” “won this round” that doesn’t work, so i try: jungkook fanfic "cut his string" "soulmate" from that i get this:

looks like it could be the fic, so i skim through it for the details in the description and it is! obviously this will not always work, but sometimes you’ll get lucky.

example 8: you remember a quote (word for word)

the success of finding a fic based on a quote is dependent on how accurately you remember it. if the quote is unique to the story and you know the exact wording, you have a very high chance of being able to find it!  *if you DO NOT know an EXACT quote, this probably will not help. i would advise searching using your other details instead of a partial quote because misremembering even a few words will ruin a quote search.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: jungkook/reader au/genre: college, f2l plot: jungkook asks reader for a pencil, reader remembers him from high school, jungkook remembers reader from kindergarten, reader defended jungkook when he was bullied for his knockoff ninja turtle shirt

lots of information here, but what stands out is the quotes! it’s SO specific that it would be surprising if other fics had them. assuming you didn’t misremember the phrasing, you 100% want to use quotation marks for this. my first google search would be: jungkook “it’s morphine time” bts fanfic tumblr

as we thought, there it is! alternatively you could have used the other quote (the search would have been jungkook “it’s morphin time” bts fanfic tumblr) and found it as well.

example 9: you remember lots of plot but no unique keywords

this kind of ask probably won’t be found through google searching (or if it is, there is a LOT of guesswork involved). hopefully the community remembers it or one of the admins will read it somewhere and recognize it (i’m always on the lookout for old asks!), but unfortunately google isn’t your friend this time.

the fic relevant parts are highlighted. based off of that, you would know the following: pairing: jungkook/reader au: established relationship, cheating plot: reader is dating taehyung or jimin, jungkook is dating someone, reader goes to taehyung/jimin’s apartment to give them food and sees jungkook in the hallway, jungkook’s girlfriend is in taehyung/jimin’s apartment, jungkook and reader sit outside and eat the food that was supposed to be for taehyung/jimin and jungkook’s girlfriend, taehyung/jimin and jungkook’s gf leave the apartment and see jungkook and reader together, taehyung/jimin is pushed back by jungkook

this is a very specific plot, but unfortunately there’s nothing concrete we can search for. these google searches would be all guessing, so i’ve tried variations such as: jungkook reader tumblr fanfic cheating "hallway" eating food jungkook reader tumblr fanfic "his girlfriend" eating food cheating    jungkook reader tumblr fanfic "eating" "apartment" pushed and a lot of others, but none of those worked (as expected).

we’re still looking for this one so if anyone knows this fic or has other information please let us know!

Jawn could feel hands pressing at his chest and something covering his mouth, and suddenly, breathing became a lot easier. Jawn’s eyes rapidly fluttered open, and two men swam into focus above him. 

“Que…?” he muttered, wincing. Nausea coursed through him.

“Hey, man. There you go.”

Jawn sat up halfway and pushed the oxygen mask off of his face just in time to weakly cough up some vomit. 

“There you go, buddy. There, you feel any better? It’s okay. You remember what happened?”

Jawn shook his head and collapsed back down to the sidewalk, smearing his sleeve over his lips. 

“It’s okay. You ODed, but you’re okay now. We gave you Narcan, got you back. We’re gonna get you to the hospital.” 

“I ODed?” Jawn echoed, dazed. 

“Yep. Looks like heroin. Am I right?”

“No,” he lied. Even in his confusion, he remembered to protect himself. Then suddenly, he tensed. “Where’s my dog?” 

“Hm?”

“My dog, where’s my - my dog…” Feebly, he called, “Shadow?”

“She little and black?” the EMT who hadn’t spoken yet asked. 

Jawn nodded, ignoring the sick feeling still swirling in his stomach. “Yeah. Have you seen her? Where is she?”

“Cops have her. Thought she was a stray.”

“No. No, she’s mine - that’s my dog. You gotta get her back,” he slurred. “Where is she? I want my dog.”

“Hey, we’ll find her,” the first guy said. “Don’t worry.” 

“No,” Jawn insisted loudly, “I want my dog! Where the hell is my dog?!” 

“Ay, take it easy,” the first EMT warned, setting a hand on his chest. “We’re gonna get you on a stretcher and into the amb-”

“No! Not without her!” 

“You can’t take her with you, kid.”

“No, she’s - she’s mine. You can’t give her away. You can’t give her to somebody else. She doesn’t have tags or anything, but that’s my dog,” Jawn babbled frantically. “She hates people. She’s scared. Please. Please, you gotta help me,” he begged. “Please, that’s my dog. That’s my dog!” 

“The cops have her, man. She’s safe.”

“No, but they’ll - you don’t understand. I need her!” 

“Shh… it’s okay. They’re gonna take care of her until you’re ready. You need to focus on you, man. She’ll be fine. But right now, we’re gonna get you some help.”

“Shadow!” Jawn pleaded again, his head turned to the side in the direction of the electric blue police lights. Then, still dazed, he began to mutter under his breath, “Avé Maria, cheia de graça, o Senhor é convosco…”

“Hey,” the second EMT said gently as he placed a hand on Jawn’s shoulder, “you want me to go see if I can check on her while they get you situated?” 

Jawn nodded desperately.

“Okay. Give me a second. Let’s see what I can find out.” 

There was a flurry of motion after that, but Jawn tried his hardest to fight through the drowsiness and nausea and ignore everything happening around him in favor of trying to see the man who was searching for Shadow, but soon, he was being loaded in the back of the ambulance and berated with questions by the EMT who woke him up.

“What’s your name?” 

“Jawn Rocha.”

“Jawn, when’s your birthday?”

“Uh, July… twenty-ninth.” 

“What year?”

“Ninety six.”

“Okay. And do you know what day it is today?” 

“No fucking idea,” Jawn sighed. He’d been able to figure out Christmas because all the stores had closed, but a few weeks had passed. Probably a few weeks. Jawn wasn’t exactly sure.

“Do you know what month it is?”

“January.” 

The guy nodded, but the look on his face told Jawn that he had answered incorrectly.

“February?”

“It’s February third.”

“Oh.” Jawn wearily sat up as the other EMT came back. “Did you find her?” he demanded worriedly.

Wordlessly, the guy stepped aside. Behind him was a police officer with Shadow cradled in his arms. She was shaking from fear, but as soon as she saw Jawn, she let out a little yip and started squirming.

“Shadow!” Jawn cried. 

The cop placed her at the foot of the stretcher, and she scrambled up his legs and onto his chest, whining and licking at his chin.

“That little dog saved your life,” the officer told him, nodding at Shadow. “She barked up a storm until somebody came over to see what was going on and called us for help.” 

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Jawn whispered, his focus entirely on the dog. She whined again as she nuzzled into him. “Shadow, I’m sorry. They’re making me leave you. I’m sorry…”

“Son, you almost left her for good,” the officer pointed out. 

“What’s gonna happen to her? Where’s she going?” 

“Uh, one of our guys offered to take her in.”

Jawn glared and tightened his grip on her. 

“Just until you’re back on your feet,” he added quickly. “We’re gonna get the hospital all his info so you can get her back.”

The EMT that Jawn liked more spoke. “Jawn, you gotta get better before you can take care of your dog, okay? You’re right; she needs you. But she needs you healthy.” 

Jawn closed his eyes. He was upset, but the adrenaline had begun to wear off, and Jawn was feeling worse. 

“He’s a good guy,” the cop said, and Jawn opened them again. “I know you don’t know me, but I’m gonna vouch for him anyway. He’s got a wife and a kid at home, and he’s a great guy.”

“He won’t hurt her?” Jawn demanded.

“No, wouldn’t dare.” 

Jawn nodded. 

“We gotta go, son. That Narcan’s gonna expire in a bit and you’re gonna feel it if you’re not being taken care of, okay?”

Jawn squeezed Shadow to his chest. He whispered to her, “Está bem, Shadow. Eu te amo. Eu voltarei para você. Eu sinto muito. Eles vão cuidar de você por enquanto. Eu te amo.” 

It’s okay, Shadow. I love you. I’ll come back for you. I’m so sorry. They’ll take care of you for now. I love you.

The officer took the dog off of Jawn’s chest, and she squeaked and began to squirm back toward Jawn, making little, fearful yipping sounds. 

“Está bem!” Jawn called to her. “Está bem, está bem...”

The ambulance doors shut, and Jawn lifted a hand to cover his eyes.

The nicer EMT took hold of Jawn’s hand and murmured, “I’m so sorry. That’s rough. But you’ll see her soon.” 

Jawn didn’t think he’d be seeing Shadow any time soon, but he didn’t pull away.

How incorrect tagging contributes to SPN ship wars

@radioabsurd left this very impassioned rant about the behavior of SPN fandom in the main tags.  Let me point out that there are things here, that I would say are correct.  There are things however, that I am not happy with.  I am not certain about this person's sincerely.  Let me put it that way.  I edited bits that contained blasphemy because I don't want that nonsense in my post.  I also added bold font to the bits that made me smirk.  Other than that, everything is as it appears.  My commentary is in italics and brackets.  Thank to doll face for forwarding this to me. 

Supernatural Fandom

If you hate the actual angel Jensen Ackles, don’t talk to me, like my shit or any of that.

If you hate the actual angel Misha Collins, fuck off and don’t talk to me or like my shit.

I’m so tired of this hate people give each other in the fandom with the ship wars and shit.

I FUCKING ship #destiel and #cockles, but in no way do I think J2 are not important to each other. They are the bestest of friends. In no way do I hate on Daneel, Vicki, or Gen(They are all actually queens).

My issue with this rant: 

I appreciate the effort.  Don't get me wrong.  But there are issues presenting themselves here.  This rant is addressed to the entire fandom.  The problem is that is doesn't differentiate between the instigators and the retaliators.  There is an assumption, within the rant, that everyone should like the same things in the same manner without personal opinion or prejudice.  And to be honest, that kind of uniformity in human psychology, is unheard of in human societies.  We are all different.  We cannot be expected to enthusiastically love anyone or anything unless we have been given viable reason to.  The other baffling thing on this post is the anti Vicki tag.  Interestingly, there is no other post with this tag.  As far as I can see, nobody hates Victoria.  People are generally quite indifferent towards her. 

So you are basically giving fandom and onlookers the impression that this woman gets hated when, in reality, she doesn't even force a blimp in the radar.  The only time I saw her being discussed, was when I watched in bemused amazement , as J2 tinhats were comparing her to one of the Js wives and talking about how much more nicer she was and how they respected her more.  So those particular J fans don't hate Victoria.  Do Misha's fans hate her?  If so, how are they tagging their hate.  I haven't seen anything. 

You post makes no mention of actor harassment, cast and crew harassment, threats of arson and vandalism and actual attacks on fans by other fans.  There is a different between someone saying ''I cant stand Vicky'' and ''I am going to burn Vicky's home down, while she is still in it''.  A similar arson threat was sent to Jensen by a Misha fan.  Receipts for this, and other threats, are on my blog.  To my logic, death threats are a more pressing issue than hate.  All of the aforementioned are by destiel shipping and Misha stanning perpetrators.  To people who are not aware of this reality, if they read this post, they will assume that everyone in the fandom is hateful.  They won't know about the truth.  So no, all the shippers do not have an equal hand in trouble making.  There are some that are worse than others. 

Finally, your tagging is contradictory and troublesome.  Tumblr recognizes 30 tags only, but the most effective are the first five.  For a post of this nature, you shouldn't have tagged Danneel twice.  Danneel has fans from her other endeavors. like One Tree Hill, who are not SPN fans.  They don't need to see this drama, which has nothing to do with them.  So that tag is a general/main tag and you should stay out of it.  The last two tags are for ships outside our fandom, and basically what you have done, by including those tags, is exposed outsiders to the dirty laundry that this fandom is known for.  This is where SPN's faulty reputation comes from.  ''Mentions'' is also a very widely used external tag.  It has not an SPN related tag, neither is it related to this post.  Tagging this post under that tag, also brings this fandom into disrepute.  The tags on this post, does this fandom no favors.   

The post is not a hate post, [you are reprimanding all and sundry over putrid behavior] and therefore does not belong in the anti tags.  If you are trying to right the wrongs of this fandom, do it in the main ship tags, for the whole shipping section of fandom to see.  You cant tell people how to feel about someone.  And posting this particular rant in the anti tags, is essentially you telling those people not to hate whoever they genuinely cant stand.  If you are talking about a ship, tag the ship.  If you tag your post #anti Jensen, you are telling people, this post is about why I hate Jensen.  That is the point of that tag.  That is not exactly what your post is about, is it?  Now I tag in the main tags, and not in the anti tags because I tackle any subject that is going to cause a death threat to reach Jensen.  That is the policy behind my tagging system.  Your tagging system doesn't seem to make sense.  You cant tag Jensen and anti Jensen.  These two tags contradict each other. 

Don't tag the characters on a TV show, because that is not what your post is about.  People who are non-shipping fans of Dean Winchester, don't want to be bombarded with this shipping-related rant.  This is not courteous to them.  Also, if you misspell a tag, the tag has consequently been rendered useless.  So there is essentially no point in having that tag.  Just replace or remove it.  Its not that hard.  Also, I don't think you know what a bibro is.  There are non-shippers amongst them.  So why are they a part of this ship-war rant?  You can't tag SPN or Supernatural, because the entire fandom doesn't need to see this.  The entire fandom are not shippers.  You were not addressing the entire fandom, so leave them out of it.  In fact, your title is incorrect too. 

Judging by the crux of your post, the tags should have been:

Destiel, Wincest, Cockles, J2 Tinhats, Wincestiel  

All the ship names are present.  So anyone who is involved with these ships will read them and understand.  If you want to add more tags [which I don't recommend] then add the following:

Sabriel, sastiel

I would tag these two ships because they are ships that three actors are a part of.  I don't recommend tagging the actor's names, because the post is not about them, but about shipper behavior.  They are merely mentioned as the motivation behind the hate, by your logic.  Their names are still general tags, and people searching Jared Padalecki might hate shipping and this post will give credulity to their hatred because it is invasive and makes shippers looks bad....well, worse would be the apt word to use.

I am conflicted about the motive of the rant.  No, I don't believe any of the actors are ''actual angels''.  They are human and flawed, some more than others.  I don't think their wives of sovereign control of anything.  But I appreciate the effort in bridge-building.  The doll face that sent me this, found the wincest remark offensive, but I am willing to give your the benefit of the doubt on that one, because I assume it was an honest mistake.  I am not a wincest fan though, which I why I am reacting a little differently.  Perhaps, because I am not emotionally invested. 

P.S.:  Speaking of wincest, someone told me that even wincest ship posts are being tagged with the actor's and character's names.  I don't care what you ship, but by using general tags, you are not driving on your lane.  Stop mistagging.  Unless Jared Padalecki is really pregnant with someone's lovechild, don't tag him in an mpreg post.  I don't think he wants people knowing about his baby bump.  Tag politely.  Tags like Top!Sam and Bottom!Cas are NOT general tags, so that is ok.  But Sam Winchester and Jared Padalecki, for example, are general tags, so keep your shippy stuff away from it.  Wincest fans, its your job to clean house. 

The reason why I am lenient with the wincest ship and J2 tinhatters, is because they are not repeat and frequent offenders, and they don't send death threats to actors.  In fact, if you search the wincest tag, you find a small handful of offenders, and a destiel offender who tagged her post weecest and wincest even though it was about destiel.  Now, why do that? 

Respect the tags.  Respect the actors.  Stop behaving like SPN owes you something, and keep your fantasy on your side of the fandom.

Disuphere (An AU Fosters family fic) Chapter 42

CHAPTER 42

Jesus groans and buries himself deeper in his blankets.  Every fifteen minutes, the bathroom door slams.  (Jesus feels like slamming somebody, but he doesn’t.)  Between Brandon, Callie, Mari and Jude, they sound like elephants, crashing in and out.  There are a lot of perks to having no door.  Hearing your loud, loud sibs as they get ready for school at 6:30 AM?  Not one of them.

(Seriously.  Who can he call for backup when they’re all being so annoying?)

“Lena, honey?  Have you seen my keys?”  Mom’s asking.

“I’d assume they’re in the bowl by the door, my love…” Mama.  Irritated, because Mom always assumes she knows where something is, so she doesn’t actually look for it.

“Well, I’d assume that, too, except it seems that all of our keys have gone missing…” Mom muses, perplexed.

Jesus sits up.  Swears it makes his heart drop all the way down to his ass.  

Did that really happen last night?  He glances at the hall through the beads, and sees no one.  Yet.  He tries to remember the hazy thing that felt like a dream.  Not the Jacob part - that’s vivid as hell.  The part after that where he walked through the house like a zombie, feeling around in the dark like he didn’t need eyes, and stole the house and car keys like a damn hoarder.

There’s not a lot in his room.  It’s how Jesus likes it.  Extra stuff makes him feel nervous.  Lucky for him, it also means searching the room doesn’t take long.

He finds them.  Safe.

(Safe?  What the hell is wrong with him?)  Why does it feel like his life depends on hiding them?  He knows where he is.  Knows the damn dream was just a damn dream...but he doesn’t have to try hard to smell waste.  Dirt.  Sweat.  The dampness.  The sick-sweetness of laundry soap and dryer sheets that doesn’t mask anything.  And fear.

Jesus blinks.  He’s been staring at his wrist where the sleeve has ridden up.  At the proof of chains there.

“Jesus?  You didn’t see Frankie playing with the keys at all, did you?” Mom asks.

“No,” he shakes his head.  Yawns.  

“And you don’t know where they are?” she presses lightly, standing off to the side of the beads, to give him privacy.

“No, I mean, they were there last night when we checked everything was locked, remember?” he asks.  

“And you haven’t seen them since then?”

“I’ve been sleeping.  Or trying to,” he balks.  (He remembers another lie.  How easily it came: “Maybe he’s sleeping…”)

It’s amazing how well he can lie.  He used to be a terrible liar, but now the fear just brings it out of him.  Mom’s halfway down the hall by now, having told Jesus to keep an eye out for them.  Now, she’s interrogating the other kids who are freaking out about not being able to drive to school.

“Seriously,” Brandon’s saying.  “Why would any of us take them?  We need them to drive places.  You know, like school.  Did you check Frankie’s bed?  She has klepto tendencies.”

“I can’t check her bed for keys, B.  She’s sleeping.”

(“Maybe he’s sleeping…”)

(“You have to hide the keys…”)

Shaking his head, to try and clear it, he scribbles a note to Mariana:

Mari I need backup.  Please come.  I did something but I need to make it right and I can’t ‘cause I’m scared and I’m freaking out.  Jesus

“Guess you’ll have to walk to school…” Mama’s saying.

“No way!  We don’t have time!” Jude.

Jesus takes a deep breath and goes out to the hall.  Sticks the letter in Mariana’s mailbox with a corner obviously showing.  He hopes she’ll come back up here.

He’s back in his room.  Back to the wall.  Arms at his sides.  He’s the opposite of grounded, he’s blank.

Across the hall, he can hear the mailbox open.  In seconds, Mariana’s knocking on the doorframe.

“Jesus, it’s me.  I got your note.  I’m here for backup, okay?  I’m coming in.”

He hears, but can’t answer.  When she’s there, Mari wastes no time.  She grabs his favorite blanket and covers him.  The gesture is so familiar, tears spring to Jesus’s eyes.  

“I did something…” he whispers, staring at the blanket.  Jacob would like it.  It’s yellow.

“It’s okay.  We’ll figure it out together,” Mariana says.  She sounds calm.  “I loved your drawing,” she says gently.  “Would it be okay if I hung it in our room?  The words would stay private on the back.  I just like what you drew so much, I’d like to be able to always see it.”

“Really?” he asks, glancing at her.

“Really,” she nods.  “Now, can you tell me what’s wrong?”

“Ethan.”

“Yeah?”

“Ever since last week, I’ve been having these dreams...about Before?”

Mariana looks troubled but steady, still.  She nods.

“And I had one early this morning...about plastic keys.  I was trying to save somebody.  But I couldn’t in time, and they were like, “You have to hide the keys.”  There’s a lump in his throat.  His eyes are bright.  “It felt so real.”

Mariana’s quiet.  Mama calls up the stairs for Mariana.  They’re leaving to walk to school.  She needs to come, or she’ll be late.

“I’m talking to Jesus,” she calls back, but not too loud.

(That, they both know, is a Get Out of Jail Free card.  And right now, Jesus is super thankful for it.  He needs his sister.)

“Jesus,” Mariana says, once Mama’s cleared her and promised to write a note, excusing her from whatever she misses.  “That sounds really scary.  But it was just a bad dream, okay?  I know it felt real.  But it wasn’t.”

His eyes flash.  For the second time in less than a week, he aggressively shoves his sleeves up.  Thrusts his arms out.  “Was this a dream?!” he challenges, his voice too intense.  “Or was this real?!”

She gasps a little, shocked, but recovers quickly.  “Real. That was real, okay?  But what you just said about plastic keys?  That was a dream.  I can’t lie to you, remember?  That’s not our thing.”

“Honesty?” he asks, checking.

“That’s our thing,” she nods.  Proud.

“I lied to Mom,” he admits.  “She asked if I knew where the keys were.”

“Can you tell me where they are?”

He shakes his head.

“Can you show me?” she tries again.

Slowly, Jesus unfolds himself and stands.  It feels so good to move around like this.  Free.  Sometimes, it still hits him fresh.  He drops to his knees by his purple beanbag chair and carefully unzips it.  He roots around until he finds all four sets of keys.  Holds them against his chest.

“I’m not gonna take them from you.  But can you tell me something?  If Dr. Hitchens were here right now, what do you think she’d tell you?”

Before he does anything else, Jesus focuses on getting grounded again.  On breathing.  On being fully present.  Then, he says:

“She would say this isn’t happening right now.  It was just a dream.  That I’m safe and I don’t need keys.”

Mariana stands in front of him, and repeats:  “This isn��t happening right now.  It was just a dream.  You’re safe with me.  I’m your backup, remember?  So you don’t need keys.”

He wants to hug her so bad, but he can’t let go of the damn keys.  If he does, they’ll make that sound he hates, and he’ll lose it even more.  (And Jacob.  He can’t let them go because Jacob said to hide them.)

“No one is gonna hurt you here,” Mariana offers.  It’s one of the family’s stock phrases that he needs to hear over and over.  So she says it.  But she also means it.  “Even if Moms know you took the keys, they won’t hurt you.  Whatever freaked you out in the dream, freaked you out because you weren’t safe There.  But you are safe here.”

“Can you put them back?” he asks, raw.  “I can’t.”

“Yeah.  Whenever you’re ready.”

Jesus knows he’ll never be ready, so he forces himself to hand them over, jingling them as little as possible because that damn sound haunts his nightmares.

She doesn’t leave right away.  She makes sure he’s okay.  That if he’s not gonna tell Moms about Ethan, Jesus might consider telling them he’s having trouble sleeping.  So they can help.

He nods.  “Hey,” he calls, as she’s leaving.  “Will you write me again?”

“Of course,” she says, and steps to the other side of his beads.  “Try to get some more sleep.”

Jesus doesn’t think he can, but the next thing he knows, he wakes up and it’s after noon.  He makes his way downstairs, messy hair and sweats.  Jesus checks the bowl by the door: full of keys again.  He folds his arms on the way by, though, just in case some part of him still feels compelled to listen to dream-Jacob.

“Did Mom make it to work?” he asks, finding Mama in the kitchen.

“Yes, she got a ride.  Anything you wanna talk to me about?” she asks.  (If she knows he took the keys, she doesn’t seem mad.  He thinks about Mariana.)  Pulls out a chair and loads a saucer with six donut holes.

“Just bad dreams…” he admits.  Cinnamon-sugar donut holes make talking so much easier.

“Yeah?  Any way I can help?”

Jesus shakes his head.  “I think my brain’s just trying to work something through.”

“Okay.  Well, we’re always here if you need to talk.”

“I know,” he nods.  “Thanks.”

They talk about Thanksgiving coming up.  If they need to tweak anything to make it ideal for him.

“We never had Thanksgiving,” he said, surprising himself.  “Turkey was too expensive.  So, no bad memories.”  (Except not eating food.)

Mama hums to herself.  It’s a stress reaction, but a nice one, that Jesus can deal with.

“Surprised I didn’t hear Frankie this morning…” he offers, wanting to help her.  She’s helped him with so much.

“She missed you, but I told her you’d want to know about her day, so try to check in, if you can.”  Mama nods at him.  (Jesus is pretty sure it means thank you.)

“Yeah, I will.  Oh, is the paper gonna have the turkey in it again?  That’d be awesome for me and Frankie to do.”

Mama smiles.  “Yes, every year.”

“Awesome.”  Jesus eats the last of his donut holes and chugs his milk.

An hour later, Frankie’s home, and full of stories of how they traced their hands to look like turkeys in art time.

Jesus is trying to listen, but he’s multitasking.  Talking to Mama reminded Jesus he wanted to check out her Instagram.  It had been a hot second since he’d been there.  Over a month, at least.  His check is worth it, Mama found an awesome little Santa at Target a few days after family therapy.  He wonders if he’ll see it around the house, come December?

The Santa pic has Callie and Mariana tagged, but incorrectly.  It reminds Jesus to check their pages, too.

“Hey Buddy?  I said you can see my turkey tomorrow if you want when I bring it home.”

“Cool,” he says, distracted.  He forces himself to look away from the screen.  To connect with her.  “You know, Mama was just saying that giant turkey picture’s gonna be in the paper again.  Wanna color it together?”

“Let’s do it now!” Frankie exclaims.  She’s right next to his ear, and he winces.

“Oops.  I’m sorry, Buddy.  Didn’t mean to scare ya.”

“You didn’t.  That was just kinda loud.  Wanna practice a little softer?”

“Let’s do it right now!” Frankie stage-whispers.  She glances at his laptop screen, where Mariana’s smiling.   “Ooh!  Go to Callie-Online okay?  I wanna see me being a model.”

Jesus smiles and clicks there.  Callie’s Insta is the coolest in the whole family, hands down.  Jesus goes to the one shot that shows the back of Frankie and clicks.

“Hey!  Where’s my face?” Frankie asks indignantly.  

He gets it.  Jesus was kinda expecting to see her smiling face, too.  Bummer.  He backs out of the single pic of Frankie he can find, and spots another one that looks familiar.

Click.

This is definitely a pic of his framed fourth grade school picture.  Why would Callie have that here?  Jesus squints at the hashtag.  He can’t make it out but it gives him a weird feeling.

“Jesus,” Frankie whispers.  He’s about to compliment her for remembering not to scream in his ear, when she keeps going: “I know where there’s more pictures of you.  But it’s a secret, so you can’t tell.”

For one horrifying minute, Jesus is convinced that Frankie has somehow seen Those Pictures that He took.  Online somewhere.  Instead, though, Frankie’s offering her hand.

“No on the computer, silly!  Come with me.  I know right where they are.”

Mama’s in the laundry room off their room, getting some clothes washed and dried before the holidays are here, and it’s crazy.  They walk past her room, and to the girls’.  Their door is closed but Frankie opens it and pulls Jesus inside.  Closes the door.

“Frankie, the door,” he says, a little breathless.  He hasn’t been closed in a bedroom since he first got home and Moms didn’t know.  (Frankie doesn’t know.)

“Oh.  You can still get out, okay?  I just don’t want Mama to see this.”

Frankie’s on her belly, dragging something out from under Callie’s bed.  A big piece of canvas.  Jesus steps closer.

“Ta-da!” Frankie whispers.  “You!”

(The hashtag: srproj15 suddenly makes sense.  He feels sick.)

Jesus is on his knees.  All this time - months - Jesus has peripherally been aware that Callie and Brandon have been doing senior projects.  Neither have been super open about them, mostly keeping them under wraps.  But Callie should have told him this.

She should have told him that her senior project is on him.

Pictures date back to when Jesus was still Gone, like the fourth grade photo of the photo.  But there are others.  A haunting shot of his empty bedroom, littered with toys and clothes, taken through a cracked-open door.  There’s one of him, staring right at the camera, on the day he came home.  (He remembered her taking it, because he’d been so sure she was taking a selfie on the way down the stairs.  Instead, she’d been shooting him.)  Callie’s captured dozens of private moments: him setting a knife on the coffee table when he’d been so intent on protecting Jacob, Jesus hadn’t realized it was actually Jude, who looked eerily similar at that age.  Him and Moms on the stairs a few weeks ago, when Jesus had come home from the doctor totally triggered.  And last week: him and Ethan talking.  Jesus with his wrists out, shouting, his scars visible.  Ethan’s own face, not in view, because of the angle.

Jesus can’t breathe.  This is not happening.  He’s been home three years, and the whole time, he’s been photographed without his consent.  He thought he was done with that.  Thought he’d never have to deal with it again after being There.

“Jesus?” Frankie asks.

“Backup,” he manages.  “Get Mama…”

Little feet, not boots.

Here, but disappearing.

“What is it?” Mama asks.  It sounds like she’s so far away.

His face is wet.  Jesus can’t breathe.

“How could you?” he manages.  “How could you let her do this as her senior project without even asking me?  She literally got permission from everybody but me!  So Anchor Beach officials know about this?  Some panel knows about this?  Okayed this!  But didn’t ask me!  What about you and Mom?  Did you guys know?!”

“Jesus, we--”

“Did…  You…  Know?”  Jesus rasps.

“Honey, we didn’t know.  We asked.  Callie said she was doing a photo essay.  When we pressed her for details, she said she would show is when she was done.  We had to respect her privacy.”

“What about mine?!” he screams.  He’s devastated.  Wrecked.  Destroyed.  Through the noise in his head, Jesus can hear the front door opening.  Mama saying stuff.  People coming in.

People leaving.

He needs to go blank but he can’t.  For the first time, he can’t.  This is too much.

“Jesus, honey, you need to take this, okay?  It’s going to help you calm down.”  He takes the damn pill.  Swallows it dry.

Someone - Brandon maybe - is trying to get Jesus on his feet.  Talking to him.  Trying to stay calm.

Jesus is still yelling.  What, he has no idea.  He’s walking, with no clue how.  He goes through the beads alone.  Falls on his pile of blankets.  Closes his eyes.  Tries so hard to go blank.  But Callie’s pictures show up, tattooed on the backs of his eyelids.  

Proof.

Proof that Jesus is not safe anywhere.

Not even here.

Not even now.

Summary: Dr Winchester is persuaded to go out for a night on the town with his brother. He has someone waiting at home but will he find a better offer?

Warnings: Fluff, little bit of angst.

“Come on, this is the first night we have all had off in nearly a month. Just come out with us, it’ll be fun I promise,” Sam asked Dean as they walked down the hospital corridor. They were making the final rounds of their assigned patients. Sam was trying to convince Dean to go with him to a work get-together at a local bar with a bunch of doctors and nurses. Dean wasn’t keen on the idea, though. He knew he would probably go, just so he could spend some down time with Sam, but he would much rather go home.

“Alright, alright. I will come for a drink or two but that’s it Sammy, understand?” Dean was determined to stick to it, but Sam always had a way of convincing him otherwise.

As Dean made his way through the snow covered streets, heading towards the bar, he was distracted by his phone ringing. Pulling it out of his pocket, he looked at the caller I.D and saw it was her. She was probably wondering where he was. He hadn’t had chance to tell her that he was gonna be late and he felt a seed of guilt blooming in his stomach. He was just about to answer the phone when it was ripped from his grasp. Looking up, he saw Sam hanging up his phone before placing it in his own pocket.

“Dude what are you doing? Give it back! I need to call her back.” Dean tried reaching for the pocket, but Sam just slapped his hands away playfully.

“Dean, she can survive without you for a couple of hours you know? You need some time for yourself.” Sam was speaking some sense. Dean had been feeling a little in a rut lately. It was either being with her or being at work, there was never anytime for him or even his brother. Maybe he could just enjoy himself for now and just apologise later on. She wouldn’t be too mad...hopefully.

“You’re right Sammy. She’ll be okay for a little while, won’t she?” Dean needed a final reassurance. He still felt guilty and whilst he knew that wouldn’t go away no matter what Sam said, he knew that it may help a little bit.

“Dean, get your butt inside that bar and buy us some drinks, the others are already in there. We are holding up shots!!” Sam quickly grabbed Dean's arm, yanking him into the bar. He maneuvered the two of them through the busy tables, to the booth where Dean could see some of his work colleagues sat, some of them noticeably tipsy.

Sam pushed Dean into the booth before sitting down beside him, blocking him from leaving the bar without notifying him. On the other side of Dean was one of the doctors Dean had worked with before, Dr Jones. He tried to avoid her as much as possible because, unfortunately, she was known to be quite grabby. There was no denying that she was beautiful, she was everything Dean used to look for in a woman. She was smart, funny and had an amazing body, fantastic legs and gorgeous eyes. Dean looked over to her as she sat in the booth, catching her eye. He smiled at her politely and she quickly embraced him.

“Dr. Winchester, I am so glad you’re here. I wasn’t sure that you were gonna make it.” She gushed at him as she pulled away, Dean looked around for help but saw his friends were all drinking and talking. He was stuck.

“Yes Dr Jones, I nearly didn’t but then I thought of missing out of an amazing night with everyone here and I just had to come along.” Dean was trying to keep things professional. He didn’t like her romantically and encouraging that in any way just felt wrong.

“Hmmm well I have been here about an hour and my night only started looking up when I saw those stunning green eyes.” She smirked at him.

“Well thank you Dr. Jones. You have quite beautiful eyes yourself. I have to admit though I have never seen eyes quite like that of my girlfriend. Absolutely stunning.” He felt bad but he had to let Dr. Jones know that he was not available. Hopefully her knowing that he had a girlfriend would make her back off a little.

“Dr. Winchester, you haven’t touched your drink.” She nodded towards Dean, encouraging him to drink it. He did so quickly, chugging it down so that he could have an excuse to exit the situation. His friends cheered for Dean as he chugged, taking their shots as soon as he was finished. Sam smiled at Dean.

“See, I told you that you would enjoy yourself.” Sam looked so joyful that Dean couldn’t bear to tell him that he was uncomfortable.

“Right guys I am gonna go get another drink does anyone want one?” Dean asked them all, shouting slightly over the dull noise of the crowd. He shuddered slightly when he noticed Dr. Jones leant around him to reach Sam, motioning for him to move.

“I will join you Dean, I need another drink anyways.” He quickly took the other drink orders from his friends, passing Sam and making his way to the bar, Dr. Jones following behind him closely.

“Why haven’t you taken off your coat Dean? You must be boiling, I mean I know you’re hot but that’s taking it to a whole new level,” she said mischievously, winking at him.

“Well I am not planning on staying too long.” He might have said that out loud, but what he meant was that he didn’t want to be ogled and groped again, like she had done in the past.

“Oh come one, you’re no fun. Take off the coat and show us what you got,” she pleaded, pouting as she did so.

“I’d rather not,” he said stiffly.

“Okay, have another drink then. It might change your mind.”

“Honey, I’m good. I could have another drink but I imagine with you, it wouldn’t just be the one.” He was starting to lose his cool with her.

“What’s wrong with that, handsome?” She didn’t seem to understand that he wasn’t interested and he was getting frustrated.

“Look I am sure you would make somebody’s night but I assure you, it’s sure as hell not gonna be me you go home with. I’ve got somebody at home who is sat waiting for me and that’s where I’m going.” Dean passed some money to the bartender and took the drinks, stalking his way back to the booth. He put the drinks down before cutting into Sam’s conversation.

“Sam. I’m leaving, give me my phone.” He placed his hand out, waiting for his phone.

“Dude you can’t go you have been here less than 20 minutes, come on,” Sam begged Dean.

“No Sammy. Look, Dr. Jones is getting on my last nerve. If you want to hang out with me, we can hang out just the two of us sometime but I need to get home to her.” Dean looked at Sam with hope in his eyes. Sam saw the discomfort in Dean and reached into his pocket to pull out Dean’s phone.

“Thanks Sammy. We will have a boys night soon.” Dean pocketed his phone and took off into the snowy streets. He rushed home, his mind resting on the beautiful woman waiting for him. As he reached his apartment building, he looked up to see his bedroom light on, smiling at the thought of her waiting up for him. He rushed up the stairs and quickly reached his door, unlocking it silently and walking in. He locked the door behind him before taking off his shoes and coat and making his way to the bedroom.

There she was, curled up on the bed, her headphones blasting out AC/DC as she rubbed calming circles on her slightly rounded belly. He climbed up on the bed behind her, moulding his body to hers as he wrapped his arm around her belly, making her jump slightly. She reached up to take her headphones out, turning her head slightly to see Dean.

“Dean, what are you doing back so early?” She snuggled back further into Dean, not releasing him despite her confusion.

“What do you mean? I never managed to tell you I was gonna be late, I should have been home by now.” Dean was perplexed, he couldn’t understand why she thought he was going to be late.

“Sam text me earlier and said you were gonna go out for drinks. I told him to have fun. I tried to call you earlier to tell you that I was gonna have my music blaring so to try not to contact me as I probably wouldn’t hear it.” She finished with a giggle.

“Sam didn’t tell me that. I felt really guilty for leaving you alone here.” Dean started picking at some fluff on her sweater.

“Dean I am my own person, I can handle a night alone. You know that, besides I am not completely alone, I have little peanut here.” She spoke softly rubbing her belly.

“I know, I just feel bad. You are giving me the most amazing gift, a home and a family. I don’t know how to thank you for that,” Dean replied tearfully.

“Just love me, that’s all I need. I want a home and a family with you just as much as you.” She grabbed Dean’s hand raising it to her mouth and kissing his palm softly.

“I love you Y/N and I love our baby.”

“We love you too Dean.”

*Ding*

“Dean? Who’s Dr Jones? Sam says she’s been hounding you? Do I need to go sort this crazy woman out?!?!”

“This is just one of the many reasons I love you,” Dean said with a grin as he snuggled into Y/N’s neck, his hand resting on their unborn child as he listened to Y/N rant about a woman she had never met. Dean may have felt stuck in a rut before but now he could see his life for what it truly was...beautiful.

When you think about it, there is virtually an unlimited number of traffic sources. Basically, every online document (including non-HTML ones, such as PDF files), every chat message, every post on Facebook, every tweet, every game, can contain a website link.

Furthermore, a website address can be typed into any online browser on any Internet-enabled device.

In order to make some sense of this, it is useful to think of website traffic in terms of marketing channels according to its origin.

1. Organic Search traffic

This is traffic that comes from the search engines’ organic results. When people search for something in Google, for example, and then click on a result that is not a paid ad, they are referred to as organic traffic.

2. Paid Search traffic

The opposite of organic search is paid search. Paid Search traffic occurs when somebody clicks on an advertisement inside the search results. You need to pay for this traffic, usually on a pay-per-click (PPC) basis. It means you pay each time someone clicks on your ad.

3. Display traffic

This traffic is from display advertising, such as Google AdWords remarketing campaigns, banner advertising, and contextual ads.

4. Referral traffic

Whenever users’ click on a link from another website (other than major search engines), they are categorized as referral traffic.

5. Affiliate traffic

Any traffic resulting from affiliate marketing efforts, namely visitors arriving at your website via affiliate links, is called affiliate traffic.

6. Direct traffic

Strictly speaking, direct traffic originates when someone navigates to your website by typing its address into their browser. However, in Google Analytics, direct traffic numbers can sometimes be inflated because traffic from unrecognized sources is also accounted for as direct traffic.

7. Social traffic

Visits from social media sites that are not ads, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. are called social traffic.

8. Email traffic

This category includes traffic from clicks on links in email messages, whether mass email marketing or individual messages.

9. Other

Anything else that doesn’t fit one of the above categories.

Measuring website traffic

You want to keep track of who is visiting your website, what pages they visit, how long they stay, and where they have come from.

One of the best tools for measuring and analyzing website traffic is Google Analytics. It is extremely powerful and if you don’t already have it installed, it is highly recommended you do so as soon as possible.

At the same time, it is important to note that Google Analytics bundles traffic into channels based on the source and/or medium parameters, passed by the links themselves.

This means that the quality of the data depends on how good a job you do at tagging your campaigns. If done incorrectly (or not done at all), traffic can end up being miscategorized and your data will not show the real picture.

Different types of media

Before we get to discuss the actual process of building website traffic, there is one more concept I want you to understand. It is the concept of owned media.

You see, when you look at the different sources of traffic, you will realize that it is possible to distinguish between three types of media:

1. Earned media – media you have no control over; these are usually other peoples’ websites, social media channels, etc.

2. Paid media – media you pay to get mentioned on or linked to; these are places you can get to via advertising, most frequently through the big advertising programs, such as Google Adwords or Facebook Ads.

3. Owned media – media you have full control over; these are all your different websites, social media accounts, etc.

I have just got my full UK driving license. I am looking to buy a car. I know that if I buy car the insurance right now will be high as I am 23 years old new driver.     I was told to put the car on my auntie's name and get insurance as second driver. But does that mean that my auntie will have to pay for her insurance too as the main driver?!?    She already has her own car & insurance   will she have to pay another insurance if I do put the car on her name and be second driver?   Please let me know   Thanks   K

I recently just bought a car. Its registered to me. Although it does not have any insurances right now. I have my G1, but I want to insure this car now, so I can drive it.
