I know my memory ain't perfect but I can still honestly say within the past almost like 20ish years when I think about all the various things I've watched that involved Greek mythology and specifically had Hades in it,
I can only think of one where he was actively portrayed as not just a good guy but like friendly. Oh he could still get mad, but over all a decent fellow. Now he didn't have a big role and only appeared in a handful of episodes but still,
Class of the Titans has one of my favourite Hades portrayals. Yeh he can be a little over the top and goofy sometimes but it works within the show and it's just fun.
The man loves his dog, is over the moon smitten in love with Persephone and is willing to lend a hand to those who ask if he can.
Even Thanatos God of Death himself isn't even made to be seen as evil, he's just doing his job.
There's even an episode where one of the characters pretty much dies, comes close to yet even then. While he literally has to fight and run away from Fate to avoid going to the Underworld, while an antagonistic role- because you know he's fighting against what they want. It's not treated or framed like they're bad for doing this, this is just their job.
Character is supposed to be dead so they're just trying to get them to go to the Underworld, while MC does everything to avoid that- as they wait for their friends to return with the means to save them.
#I also vaguely remember reading some book that was very much a reimagining /interpreation of like Hades/Persephone thing / greek gods#don't remember the exact plot but I do remember enjoying it well enough#I'm not saying there are other books or movies or whatever out there with positive Hades protrayals just in my experience i've come across#very few of em#also how about we finally just ditch the interpretation that Hades was tricked/ otherwise unhappy with getting the underworld#Even in Greek myth itself while that may be an interpretation that exists/was written#equally so and what I'm familiar with is Hades chose the underworld / at the very least took no issue in little brother ruling over the god#Big bro Hades had no interest in having so much power wasn't interested (and quite possibly neither was poseidon)#in the underworld he gets to avoid most of everyone else's drama and problems

all I did was buy Hades and play it. now it’s been 3 weeks and
than and zag are idiots, here’s a thing. i love them. fuck.
hypnos is a little shit
-----------------------------------------------------
There was something about Death that Zagreus believed should be savored, or rather, handled with great care. He didn’t know much about the ceremonies mortals held for their dead, only that Than had mentioned rituals and burials in the few conversations they’ve had about it. Thanatos wasn’t willing to give more than that, claiming he never had time to stay so long and observe the culture in which mortals laid their dead to rest. He simply followed the calling deep within his chest that led him to whatever unfortunate soul he was to take next, and afterwards, leave.
Zagreus hoped there was more to it, though. Not Than’s work—he hoped it was as simple as he described—but the mortals and how they deal with death. Did they honor it? Did they honor him? Did they understand that death was part of life, that they went hand-in-hand; that death...that Death was beautiful….
And gentle, Zagreus quietly mused, peaking around the corner to the West Hall with a bottle of Nectar carefully cradled in his arms. He didn’t even want to jostle it; it had to be in perfect condition. Nothing short of perfect should ever be gifted to Death Incarnate. It wasn’t a rule or anything, of course, just Zagreus’ own personal belief. It should be, though. It should be a rule. If he wasn’t on such bad terms with his father, he would ask that he make it so.
“You just missed him, Zagreus.”
The familiar voice lured Zagreus’ gaze from the empty spot at the end of the hall to Achilles standing at his usual place, just outside the King’s chambers. He had a knowing look about him, subdued yet piercing in his read of Zagreus’ dejected body language.
“He left moments before you arrived,” he informed, and Zagreus huffed in frustration, straightening from his little sneak position and walking towards the old warrior, still mindful of the bottle curled in his arms.
“You mean to say he left after having seen me emerge from the river.” Zagreus meant for it to be witty, but he couldn’t help the bitterness in his tone. Nonetheless, Achilles gave him a warm smile, albeit more out of pity than anything.
“Perhaps. Although he does have a rather demanding job.”
“Of course.”
Zagreus would have thought himself a narcissist for assuming Thanatos would leave in spite of him rather than because he had a duty to fulfill, but the accusation didn’t transpire simply because Chaos was feeling a little bored. Than had been avoiding him, that much was clear. If it weren’t for his obvious absences over longer-than-usual amounts of time, then it was the way in which he disappeared before Zagreus could get a single word in. Zagreus had known Than long enough to realize when the god was hiding away. And right now, Than was hiding from him.
Sighing, Zagreus loosened his hold on the bottle of Nectar and held it up to Achilles, keeping his gaze on the extravagant marbled floor. If Than was hiding from him, then it was probable he wouldn’t take too kindly to an unwanted gift. And Zagreus didn’t want to pressure him….
“For you,” Zagreus forced out, lifting the bottle higher for Achilles to take. “A token of my appreciation for everything you’ve done for me...you’re more of a father than my own—”
“Zagreus.” The interruption prompted Zag to shift his gaze from the floor to meet Achilles’ fixed stare. “I am honored, truly, but I’ve yet to find the time to drink the one you have already given me. Surely this one belongs to someone else?” He raised an eyebrow, as if trying to hint at something, trying to help Zagreus understand without outright saying it. The twinkle in his eyes was all-knowing.
“Yes, it was for....” Zagreus stared briefly at the little balcony, where Thanatos would be, if only he were there. He wanted more than anything to somehow find him and ravish him with gifts. Though, that would be too overwhelming for the gentle, moody god—and far too forward. Not to mention impossible, given how Zagreus is practically chained to the Underworld at the moment. There weren’t many places he could travel to in search for him.
Sighing, he shook his head and forced the strange desires to untangle their greedy threads from his heart. He nearly shoved the bottle of Nectar at Achilles.
“First come, first serve,” he joked, waiting for the old warrior to accept the bottle. Achilles didn’t bother even looking at the gift, instead reaching past it to comfort Zag’s shoulder.
“Thanatos will come back—this is his home, afterall.”
“Well, yes. But he won’t come back to me.” Zagreus immediately regretted the words the moment they slipped out, feeling unbearably selfish and exposed to his true feelings that he had, up until now, successfully avoided.. “I mean—that’s not how I meant to say it. It’s just...he’ll be back for you, for Nyx, Meg, and Hypnos, even. But not me. I’m not part of the reason he returns home.”
Not that Zagreus had any right to be. He was trying to leave the place Thanatos called home, for gods’ sake. And without telling him. Than had made it known he was upset about it based on their latest, and perhaps last, confrontation, but Zagreus knew Thanatos hardly revealed even a glimpse of what he truly felt. He couldn’t imagine how hurt Than really was….
Achilles’ grip on his shoulder tightened just barely, laughter twinkling in his eyes. “Prince, you are far too dramatic.” He didn’t elaborate further, almost as if the words were for his own amusement rather than to appease Zagreus’ worries. He backed off, hand slipping from Zagreus’ shoulder, and finally acknowledged the bottle still held up for his taking. “Keep that, and wait for him.”
Zagreus didn’t know what was so funny; the possible end of his friendship with Than was no laughing matter. And he didn’t want to give this bottle to Than anymore, anyway. It was all shaken up.
“Really sir,” Zagreus stepped forward, ready to shove the bottle in Achilles’ embrace if he had to. “It’s yours. I bestow it upon you.”
“I’m fine, dear Prince. In fact, I’m a little offended you would offer me a gift meant for someone else.”
Zagreus balked, interpreting Achilles’ slanted smile to be one of mockery. “Well I’m offended you won’t accept my gift! A gift I quite literally died for, might I add. Besides, I’m only going to offer you more in the future; there’s an abundance of them in Tartarus. Far too many for me to keep but enough for everyone to have multiple. I’m quite certain I will have another by the time Than shows his pretty face. Now, please sir, I demand you take this!”
He couldn’t possibly outstretch his hand farther, but he certainly tried his damned hardest, only for Achilles to cross his arms and shake his head. That slight smirk still adorned his face.
“Forgive me, Prince, but I do not accept your gift.”
Zagreus nearly growled. “Take it! I’ll stand here forever if you don’t!”
“You know as well as I that every soul, shade, and god alike are aware of your inability to stand in one place.”
“I—! I can stand in one place! I’ll do it now!”
It was only a few moments later that Zagreus was seen stomping away from the Great Achilles in humiliated anger, for the old warrior was correct: the Prince could not, for the life of him, stand still.
“Oh, shut up,” Zagreus grumbled, red hot in the face and fire at his heels (literally).
*****
Achilles was not his father, so he would not directly defy him as he did Hades, but he’d be damned if he walked away with a hurt pride and did nothing to make himself feel like a winner. So it was no surprise when he gave the wretched bottle of Nectar to Hypnos, practically announcing it to the entire House as if he were awarding a hero. Hypnos was glad to accept it, feeding off of the Prince’s drama and loudly proclaiming his thanks with a big smile until they were shouting back and forth, like kids playing pretend. That is, until Nyx urged them to be quiet, warning them that Lord Hades would be back any moment and that he did not tolerate the smuggling of Nectar.
And if Nyx heard them, then Achilles most certainly did too, and Zagreus walked back to his chambers with an inflated ego and his pride back in order, ready to tear through his father’s domain once again with the viscous intent to cause problems.
And caused problems, he did. The more chambers Zagreus tore apart, the more he began to think Achilles had purposely infuriated him. He was the one who trained Zag, afterall. He knew how to stir up trouble even better than the Prince himself, and it was a surprise to no one that the old warrior irritated Zagreus enough that the wretches of the Underworld cowered before his wrath.
Zagreus didn’t even know what he was so mad at. He was just riled up, stuck in his thoughts, so distracted he paid no mind to the aches and strains of his body from unconsciously pushing himself. He thought of nothing; just let the time pass and the monsters be slain, allowing his irritation to consume him entirely. It was almost impossible to recall the conversation he had with Meg, if any. The Fury may have said something upon his arrival, but Zagreus was in no position to respond, so they just fought.
Zagreus only acknowledged her defeat after the Lernagon Hydra crumbled to dust. By then he had ripped Asphodel a new one, with little to no recollection of how or when he got to this point.
“Must be a new record,” he mumbled to himself, the first he’d spoken since he jumped out of his window. He never made it this far….
His awareness came back to him, dragging himself down from the clouds he had been lost in. He took a second to catch his breath as he was made aware of how much his body hurt. Drinking from the fountain dulled it somewhat, but, gods, he must have been one hit away from collapsing. He wanted to collapse now, let the Styx consume him and heal him. And perhaps, now that his little fit was over and he had ransacked enough chambers to appease his emotions, apologize to Achilles for how rude he was back at the House. But up next was Elysium, and he had never been there; never was allowed to step foot in there. He wasn’t going to quit without going as far as his body physically allowed.
He didn’t expect Elysium to nearly blind him with its lush plants and sparkling sky, just as he hadn’t expected Asphodel to be so hot. It was far cooler up here, thank the gods, but he had to stay in the first chamber a few moments longer so his eyes could adjust to the brightness. He broke some precious pots too, of course. All of them, actually, and with a conniving grin on his face as he recalled his father yelling at him to stop being an ignoble brat.
Never.
Laughing almost maniacally, Zagreus dashed into the next chamber with newfound vigor, completely aware this time and not shrouded with overwhelming adrenaline. Every hit he suffered hurt more, but his focus allowed him to dodge more often and think properly, and he completed the chamber with only a few more scratches added to the ongoing list of wounds.
He was feeling good, confident. Anxious still, because he had never survived this far and had no idea what awaited him behind the next door, but what was the worst that could happen? Death? Ha.
And as he practically skipped into the next room, the toll of a bell stopped him in his tracks, draining all the warmth from his body as the already green chamber flashed an even greater, colder shade of green. Zagreus, although yielding under the sudden chill, still found himself wrapped in a blanket of familiarity, of something so beautiful he couldn’t find the words to describe it. That alone was enough to keep him from freezing to the bone.
“Thanatos…?” He whispered. He hoped. He dreaded. His heartbeat picked up, and his soul tried to rip itself from his body, drawn to the figure zapping into existence right in front of him. For a split second, wings encased Death’s godly form, dissolving as soon it appeared. A detail that was hardly noticeable, but Zagreus noticed it everytime and wished it lasted longer. He yearned to see those wings again.
“You’re easy to track down,” Than said, in a voice that was soft yet piercing, the pronunciation of every word perfect and clear. It caught Zagreus’ immediate attention, keeping his feet planted where they were. He smiled; he couldn’t help it.
“Aw, you were looking for me?”
And there it was: the slight downward twitch of his lips, the furrow of his brows, and of course, the subtle scrunch of his nose. Teasing Than was the best.
“No,” was Than’s indignant answer, and Zagreus of course didn’t believe him. “It was simply an observation of the debris you’ve left behind. I just happened to be in the area.”
“And you also just so happened to follow the trail, knowing it would lead to me?”
“No—! Ugh.” Flustered, lovingly so, Thanatos wielded his scythe. “Fight or die, Zagreus. Or, perhaps, do nothing, while I do all the work. Like how it's always been.”
Zagreus smirked. Well, he definitely wouldn’t mind sitting back and watching Death annihilate Elysium’s best warriors. He knew the god would make swift work of them. But to miss the opportunity to fight alongside the God of Death? Why, how could he decline such an offer?
Before the first shade could even materialize, Zag was on them, hacking and slashing like his body didn’t scream for him to follow Than’s advice. It was exhilarating, exciting. They worked as a team rather than competitors, Zagreus even pushing enemies into Thanatos’ dark circle of death. Than took notice, stopping to give Zagreus a confused look, before disintegrating three Brightswords at once.
Beautiful. Beautiful.
A few more Brightswords materialized, including a Greatshield and some Chariots, but they met their demise quickly before they could so much as breathe. Not that they needed to breathe; they were dead.
And now you’re deader, Zagreus mused, finishing off the last one while Than, ironically, floated and watched him do the work, perhaps giving him a pity kill. Zagreus didn’t keep track of their last competition and he wasn’t about to now; he’d let Thanatos worry about that. Though, he could estimate that he himself killed about five, while Thanatos...more than that, probably?
With the last warrior slayed, Elysium was quiet and peaceful once more, as Zagreus imagined it would be if he was sentenced to live his eternal life here. He took this opportunity to gather and absorb the dark energy a few enemies dropped, thinking about Nyx’s gift when he felt eyes watching him.
Goosebumps riddling his skin, he turned towards Thanatos, who continued staring a moment longer before offering his hand. Zagreus, confused, tilted his head and waited for an explanation. Upon receiving nothing except for Than’s unreadable expression, he took the invitation and shuffled closer.
“Your reward,” Thanatos mumbled, yet it was clear as day. Energy popped in his upturned palm, the remnants clinging to Zagreus’ skin and melting into the tissue, the bones. Zagreus watched a few scratches heal themselves. His body still ached, but his vitality grew stronger, like he could withstand more.
“Centaur heart,” Zagreus muttered, and he tilted his head back, traveling up Than’s floating form before stopping at a pair of two golden orbs. “Why?”
“It was a tie.”
“Oh.”
Zagreus was suspicious, but he didn’t speak on it. If Thanatos wanted him to stay home, like everyone else apparently, then he wouldn’t have given him something to keep his body going unless it was well-earned. Death was honorable like that.
“Ah,” Than cleared his throat, and standing this close Zagreus could see the beginnings of discoloration dusted across his cheeks. “My brother—Hypnos, that is—gave me a bottle of Nectar a little bit ago.”
Zagreus didn’t react to the random statement at first. He wondered why Thanatos was telling him, but also, how Hypnos could have gotten another bottle himself. The God of Sleep didn’t travel nearly as much as his older twin, or even Zagreus for that matter. Though, Zag supposed maybe he didn’t really know where Hypnos went when he wasn’t dozing off by the entrance to the River Styx. He always assumed the god was off sleeping somewhere more comfortably. Or maybe—
Wait. Zagreus frowned. He sensed something was amiss; something wasn’t right. The bottle, the one he gave Hypnos just before his most recent escape...he wouldn’t...couldn’t have…?
His eyes widened. No. Nonono—
“He said it was from you, Zagreus. That you asked he give it to me...as a gift.”
For the second time that day—or night, whatever—Zagreus found himself sputtering with disbelief. Irritation, embarrassment, anger, betrayal, amongst other feelings he refused to acknowledge—he couldn’t sort out which ones he felt the most.
“That—” he tried, but the words were locked in his throat, clogged together so he could hardly talk, hardly breathe. How dare Hypnos give away a gift Zagreus had given him. And how dare he thus give that same gift to Thanatos, lying in his name on top of it all!
“Zag?”
The nickname made Zagreus flinch and want to wilt away, perhaps turn into a butterfly and hide in Than’s chiton forever. At least until Than eventually ran into Hypnos, where Zagreus would then use the element of surprise to strangle the sleepy god. But to hear Than call him by his childhood nickname rather than cruelly addressing him as ‘Zagreus’ enveloped the Prince with so much nostalgia and belonging it ached. What was the point of rewarding Zagreus a centaur heart if he was only going to wound him like this moments after?!
“I...Than.” The exchange of nicknames felt natural, but Zagreus was ashamed. It was enough to zap him out of his momentary panic, and he briefly locked eyes with Death before taking in not only the concerned tilt of his brow, but also the specks of flustered gold alighting his face. Than was...flattered, to say the least. Zagreus wasn’t so oblivious he couldn’t figure out that much. But it wasn’t because of his doing; not really. He could go along with it, pretend that it was, but. That wasn’t right. Death should be honored. This was not honorable.
Upon the sigh Zagreus released from his emotionally-constricted lungs were everything he had managed to feel in less than a second after the reveal of Hypnos’ betrayal. Whatever the reason for it, Zagreus wouldn’t accept the benefits of it, if any. He wouldn’t accept the outcome if it wasn’t truthful.
“Thanatos,” he began, the name not as sweet on his tongue, “That gift...was for Hypnos, not you. I never asked him to hand it off to you.”
The look on Than’s face was hard to read at first—perhaps a mixture of confusion and horror—but Zagreus hated it. Desperately did he wish to replace it with the bashfulness from before. That feeling he had felt earlier, to bask Thanatos in gifts, was back full force.
“You mean to say…” Than’s voice trailed off before his expression hardened. “This is a prank, then.”
“No! Of course not. Not by me, at least.” When Than didn’t look convinced, Zagreus stepped closer, reaching for his dark Chiton but pulling back when he noticed Than’s shoulders stiffen. “I swear, Thanatos, on my father’s name. I gave him the bottle and that was it. Maybe...maybe there was a miscommunication? Or perhaps he overheard—”
He stopped himself there, looking past Thanatos at nothing in particular. Maybe Hypnos overheard his back and forth with Achilles? He was right around the corner, afterall. And if Nyx could hear Hypnos and Zagreus, then Hypnos would have no problem eavesdropping on the happenings of the West Hall. If that’s the case, maybe Hypnos believed he was doing a favor by giving the bottle to its original intent?
“Overheard what, Zagreus?”
With another sigh, Zagreus gave up. “Okay. The Nectar was for you.” Before Thanatos could process the words, Zagreus rushed the next sentences out, fearing the god would think it was all a joke again. “Originally! It was intended for you, at first, but you weren’t at the House. You—you’re rarely at the House, and it’s clear you’ve been avoiding me as of late, so. And the bottle, it was shaken up. I couldn’t just give something like that to you! I wasn’t sure you would even accept a gift from me anyway so I tried to give it to Achilles but he wouldn’t accept it because he said it wasn’t for him even though I was obviously giving it to him and we may have argued about it loud enough for Hypnos to hear but he didn’t say anything about it when—”
Zagreus, whose words were starting to blend together as he quickly rambled his explanation of things, abruptly stopped when something small and hard was thrusted against his chest. He was nearly pushed back from the force of it, and he scrambled to hold onto the object when Thanatos pulled his hand back. Confused, Zagreus stared down at his hands.
“Do you ever stop talking?”
Zagreus had to force himself to look away from what appeared to be a butterfly, mesmerized by the intricate designs he could briefly make out before giving Thanatos his attention once more. He wasn’t looking at him, rather, his head was turned to the side, arms crossed with his scythe cradled between the bulge of his biceps. Dust of gold once again sparkled the soft glow of his cheeks.
“You shouldn’t worry about giving me anything, Zagreus. I’ve no interest in the little souvenirs you find in your futile attempts to escape this place.” Slightly, he cocked his head, fixing his golden stare on the small artefact held gently in Zagreus’ grasp. “But if you insist...you’ll have no choice but to hold onto that.”
A flash of green, a schlink, and Zagreus was alone in Elysium.
Than’s swift exits always left a hole in his chest, but this time he didn’t bother dwelling on it, the weight of the butterfly in his hands keeping his heart full and healthy and...happy. His fingers smoothed over the coolness of it, its subtle ridges and edges a fine testament to the workmanship it must have taken to create something so beautiful. And the colors—shades of purples and grays with a green tint on the outer rims of the design, giving the butterfly a glowing effect—reminded Zagreus so much of Thanatos, and the beauty of Death.
The Prince’s tendency to ramble, although grating to the ears of most in the House of Hades, seems to have avoided what would have been a terrible rift between the likes of Life and Death, courtesy of a telltale lie; but the Prince’s desire to strangle the God of Sleep still stands as is.
Blood trickled to the tips of Zagreus’ ears. “What are you talking—? Ugh, just shut up!”

How Lore Olympus Should Have Ended
Hi everyone! I wanted to share my idealized version of how Lore Olympus would find its ending. I guess this would count as a fanfic, but there will be a mild trigger warning surrounding Asspolo and Minthe. You have been warned!!!

The drama of Olympus has racked up the tabloid section so severely that it comes to Demeter's attention. She forces Persephone back to the mortal realm to get the honest truth out of her. She knows her precious baby isn't a whore, but she does know that Persephone has been in contact with the King of the Underworld. Persephone is crushed by the pressure of disappointing her mother. She can't spit it out. Luckily Hera appears to diffuse the situation.
Hera and Persephone have a bond stronger and healthier than anyone else in the cast.
Bound by empathy and magic, Hera coaxes the truth out of Persephone. Persephone explains that Apollo forced himself on her, that she thought it was her choice but regretted the act. How Apollo had been following her, abused Artemis' trust to enter her home for sex, and threatened her scholarship by siccing Hestia on her to punish her for refusing his advances. Apollo had sworn her to secrecy under the guise of protection, but it had really been a prison. She's sorry that she made the mistakes. She's sorry for the worry and pain she caused everyone. But most of all-
Hera cuts her off as Demeter is struck with tears. "Sweetheart," she says as the hugs the pink cinnamon roll close to her chest, "you've been raped. You've been violated while in the care of a drastically flawed protector. You've been blamed for the mistakes others have made. But none of this is your fault".
"I-I-I've been.... But I thought-"
"I never should have let you leave the realm", Demeter whispers. "Those heathens have desecrated my beautiful baby. It seems I have trusted delegates to do a mother's job!"
Hera stands between Persephone and Demeter. "Let's not be drastic, Demeter. One issue at a time-".
"Govern your own hearth, Hera! And let me tend to mine. Persephone, I will fix this. We will never see Olympus again! " and with that, Demeter whisked herself and Persephone to a deep alcove of their forest. It was there Persephone would be deemed safe.
..................................................
Demeter and Persephone tended to their flowers within the greenhouse. They hadn't left each others' side for the past few weeks. Persephone began telecommuting to all her classes in a compromise to Demeter, but it just wasn't the same. She also had to give up her internship in the Underworld. She was safe, sure. But Persephone was lonely. The flower nymphs that populated the realm were yesmen, and didn't allow for the same degree of conversation she had with Hades, Hera, Hermes or even Tori.
Demeter beamed with pride with her daughter's return, even as the latter was as morose as a hurricane. Are being safe and stilfled or endangered and freeflowing the only choices in her life? Persephone couldn't be sure. All she could be sure about was that she horrifically saw Apollo knocking on one of the greenhouse's windows. He was wearing an ancient Greek robe and black crown similar to Hades' war attire. He also came bearing a Narcissius flower bouquet.
Demeter sensed the despair in her daughter's heart as she faced her abuser's twisted courtship attempts once again. The elder goddess fazed herself into the open to face the young man himself. As always, Apollo had a line. "Good morning, Lady Demeter. I come bearing offerings for the lovely Persephone. I trust that you have heard of our secret love affair?," he chatted in poorly translated Ancient Greek. Demeter's stance didn't budge. The false Romeo continued, " I'm not normally one to kiss and tell, but I have come to publicly declare our romance official. Allow me to wed dearest Persephone, and in return I shall make an honest woman of her".
"My daughter is already an honest woman. The only dishonest person here is you, Asspolo!," Demeter bellowed as red thorns sprouted from her head. The ground shook beneathe their feet, as Hades let out a mighty anguish groan. Persephone couldn't marry Apollo! She would flounder under his shittyness! She wouldn't grow into her own person with that manipulative twat ruling her life! He had to get to the mortal realm. Immediately. Hades began to search for his car keys when Minthe jammed her hands in his pockets.
"I can't believe you're actually going to answer a domestic dispute! Is this really what the big blue king is going to do with our date night?!," Minthe snidely remarked. Date Night, or what you could call it, was a relaxing evening shopping on Romulous Drive, followed by dinner at the Olympeon and dessert at Minthe's place. Hades broke from her grasp,"She needs help, Minthe. I can't sit idley by while-"
"Oh, yes you can! We are exclusive now. Exclusive to me! Not to the pink titty flower baker! She has her own problems, Hades. Don't make her one of mine again, Hades."
"Minthe, this isn't about us, or what we are calling us! This is about a young scared woman being battled over without giving her say in the mat-" "Oh please! She survived getting tangled up in my Tartarus map! She'll survive anything!"
The room fell silent as both parties digested what Minthe had just revealed. The growls of seven dogs loudly rose throughout the house as their master stormed out of the house fuming. "You have no respect for hospitality. You have no respect for human decency. And you have no respect for me. We are done, Minthe!". Minthe ran after him in an angry panic, only to be stopped by JP and Mushroom holding her dress at bay. She held up the car keys in her hand. "Good luck getting to your toddler bride now," she said with a smirk. Thay smirk turned to a frown as Hades hopped on Cerberus' back and the duo ran towards the portal cave leading to the mortal realm. Frustrated and hurt, Minthe found herself surrounded by angry dogs ripping up her expensive new trinkets.
Back on the mortal realm, Apollo continued to make his case to the irate Demeter. "I control the sun. I control the healing properties of your plants. I even control the music your nymphs use to make your flowers grow bountifully. I can easily snuff all that out with just a snap of my fingers. All I'm asking for is Persie's beautiful hand in exchange for keeping the realm in check. I've already made her my girl. She wants to come with me, but she hasn't admitted it to herself yet."
Persephone screamed, "No I don't! I never have, and I never will! You're a horrid manure of a being!"
Demeter: "Persephone, stay in the greenhouse!"
Apollo: "I'm getting damn tired of these games, Persie! Get in the car!"
And with that, Persephone raced into the woods. She fled from her mother, Apollo, the nymphs, anyone who chose to dictate her life as they saw fit. Tears streamed from her eyes as she saw that Apollo drove vigoursly after her. His arm streatched outside the driver's side window, he was still holding the Narcissius bouquet in a desperate attempt to make her love him. The whole truth about the assault had sullied Apollo's reputation on Olympus. If this had been about some mortal woman or a nymph being raped no one would have cared. But the fact that he had chosen to atrack and harass a new goddess was too much for even the other gods to handle. Apollo was determined to come out on top in some way. And if that meant Persephone than so be it.
Persephone panicked as Apollo managed to scoop her up in his arm. She cried out for the one person she thought could help her. "Mphm- Hades! Help! Stop the car!"
"I'm the only man you need so calm yourself! We just need some prac- ," Apollo yelled, before swerving into a tree to avoid a giant black paw. The ground had opened to reveal Hades riding Cerberus like the mighty warrior king he was. Hades dismounted and electricuted the car with his sacred weapon until Persephone was freed from Apollo's grasp. She ran into Hades's arms and wept with joy. Cerberus jumped his pink mommy with joy before tearing the tires off Apollo's car.
Hades: "Shush shush, it's alright now. It's alright."
Persephone: " (sniff) You're watching my cry again. 5% scoundrel. (Choke) for the first time in six weeks, I can breathe Hades".
A hush falls upon the forest, peppered only by the occasional rasps of life expelling from Apollo's body curshed against the steering wheel.
Hades: " I can take you back to your mother, if you would like. You'll be-"
Persephone: "Safe. Safe and miserable. Even as a goddess of spring, under my mother's thumb I miss so much about life"
Hades twiddled his thumbs momentarily before answering. "Where would you like to go? Somewhere you feel the safest. Where you feel the most powerful. Where no one looks down on your self authority?"
Without hesitation, Persephone blurted out, "The Underworld! Please. The underworld, Hades," as she looked up at him batting her blueberry teared eyes. Calling Cerberus to their side, the three rode back to Hades' home to reconvene.
Hades: "So, about that baklava..."
Persephone: " I gave it to Minthe to share with the staff, but I think she threw it in thr trash. You've earned another one."
Hades: "We're earned another one. We can bake it when we get home, but I have to warn you-
(Both) My neighbors are super nosey! "
Persephone: "Do you have any deviations from the recipe in order?"
Hades: "How do you feel about pomegranate seeds, Kore?"
Persephone: (Beat)" 20% scoundrel!"
As they galloped through a cave, Minthe crawled out from under a rock next to Apollo's car. Damn. She had missed them! The pink titty goddess ran off with her man and they're going to make ... Dog treats or whatever. "I've lost him. I've lost him for good this time." As Minthe let out a rage induced cry, Demeter ran to the scene of the crime.
Demeter: "Nymph! Nymph! Where is my daughter?! Have you seen where she went?! She's in danger outside of my sight!"
Demeter looks over at Apollo struggling to get our of his crushed sports car without vomiting blood, before healing himself again in a sickening cycle. "I applaud you for taking care of the manwhore." Minthe's heartbreak broke into a vengeful scowl. If she couldn't have her man, she could ruin the honeymoon period. So she put on her best wounded woman act, with her best fake tears gushing down her cheeks.
Minthe: "Why yes, powerful Demeter. The dreaded Hades snatched your precious daughter clean off this Earth by the ruse of (looks down to see the scattered Narcissus flowers around the crack) that accursed flower! Why, I bet that he has plans to make her his bride by now. How terrible! What horror befalls the precious goddess now?!"
.....................................................
Persephone: How did we start with Baklava and end with Moussaka? We must be really lucky.
Hades: I don't know. Beats the Museli outta me!

rchanscandy’s webcomic recomendations!
I don’t normally do this but I’ve been reading a lot of really awesome webcomics and I wanted to tell y’all about them and stuff because damn I found some real gems this past month. I also need people to scream about them with so heres my list in no particular order under the cut! (the comics are hosted on either smackjeeves or tapastic or both)
Lazy Snow Leopard
An utterly lazy god, an anthropomorphic personification of the Snow Leopard, rests upon his favourite tree, when suddenly woken up by a thrown stone. The thrower turns out to be a young admirer of his former self. The youngster persuades the lazy god to begin a quest for fame, glory and world salvation. While the one concerned would have preferred to just lie down and go back to sleep.
Notes: This one has me dying of laughter, I love everything about it; the art, characters, just all of the yes
Helix
A street rat is given a second chance when he is dragged from the gutter and into a new life. Will he accept his position at the side of royalty, or fight every step of the way? -Rated M for sex (M/M, consensual), violence, nudity, language and dark themes.- Warnings: -References to child abuse and sexual abuse.-
Notes: The art and story is absolutely mesmerizing, I couldn’t stop thinking about this one after reading it for a long while. Can’t wait for more updates!
Novae
Novae is a historical romance with a touch of the paranormal and a dash of astronomy. It chronicles the adventures of Sulvain, a sweet tempered necromancer and Raziol, a passionate 17th century astronomer. A connection forms between them and their relationship blooms, but when the body of a fellow astronomer is found on the steps of the Academy of Sciences, their lives are entangled in ways they could never foresee.
Notes: There are not a lot of pages so far but I’m already in this for the long run. I’m a sucker for historical romances, especially gay ones and this is just beautifully executed.
Boned
A story about being nice to birds and having safe gay sex.
Notes: The description pretty much sums it up xD. Such a good read and really intriguing characters, I enjoyed this a lot. (NSFW)
Mismatch
Mismatch tells of the bond between two rivals who slowly discover they have more in common than they think.
Notes: Only 5 pages in and I was immediately hooked. The art style is so cute and I absolutely love the premise! I can’t wait for more!
Grey Eyes
Mike Lawson finds himself on the strange world of Dwal. But now the ancient Gate won't let him back through. Mike must try to find his place in this strange new world, and perhaps find it to be better than the world he came from. A fantasy/romance with a touch of mystery. 18+ for adult language and situations.
Notes: The character designs and the art are so cool, hell everything about this is freaking cool and I need more!
Almost Touching
Wyatt's got a huge secret and Aiden is a nosy bitch who becomes intertwined in it. Though he doesn't seem to mind much... boyxboy
Notes: I got sucked in by the pretty art style and stuck around for the interesting story and lovely characters. (NSFW)
Avialae
Avialae is a webcomic about a gross bird boy and his nerdy wannabe ornithologist boyfriend--I mean neighbor who helps him out during the painful and bloody process of growing wings.
Notes: I just absolutely adore this one, it has really interesting characters, a unique premise, and just...birds man. (NSFW)
Rainbow Mansion
Watch the drama unfold as 14 contestants come together at the Rainbow Mansion in hopes of becoming the Rainbow Champion! Hearts will break, the tension will sizzle, and only one will have a chance at eternal glory. Or, like, at least a quip in the tabloids and a book deal? (M/M)
Notes: This is one of the best and most hilarious fucking comics I’ve read in a long time. I love the way it’s set up (a cheesy bad reality tv show) and the characters (all of them) are fucking fantastic not to mention the art is on point. (NSFW)
Handcuffs
Yrkki sold drugs to a stranger guy. That wouldn't be nothing new for him, but this guy was a cop.
Notes: Beautiful art, beautiful men, and a story that keeps you on your toes, whats not to love? (NSFW)
Demon House
Tula is a student just trying to get through her senior year of college. Little does she know that her new rental is inhabited by demons. Juggling her social life and these new roommates should be no problem.
Notes: This comic is a blessing. I absolutely love all the characters and the art is so well done, not to mention the hilarity that ensues. Definitely one of those must-reads!
Demon of the Underground
Pogo is a big-mouthed but small-framed young thief who falls through a hole in the ground and finds himself in a brutal underground world where survival is based on strength and intimidation. His only hope for escape is his telekinetic ability - and the help of a stray ferret named Annie. Urban fantasy/paranormal/LGBTQ
Notes: I’ve been following this one for awhile. First off, the art is fantastic, and I’m in love with that in itself. Second the characters and story are so interesting and unique...I’m dying to know what happens next and discover more!
Aimatos
Boy meet boy and together search their origins
Notes: This story is so cute and the art is beautiful and I’m gonna cry I need more. (NSFW)
Thistlewine
Markus is a reclusive witch living in the woods. He stumbles across a surprise one morning that changes his entire life. It's gay.
Notes: I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this comic. It’s so fucking cute, the characters are adorable, the art is adorable and well drawn, and every time it updates I get so freakin excited you have no idea ahhh just go read it!
No Way
NO WAY is a web comic, a story about fantasy world and Academy, where many creatures study together. But first and foremost this is a story about a vampire and an elf who were betrothed to each other and who now have to live and learn together. Yes, this is a story about the relationship between two guys, basically, although the other characters are there too. Also in the future in the comic are planned explicit scenes of a sexual nature, so there is a limit 18 + But, basically, it's still a romantic Comedy and fairy tale.
Notes: Everything about this, the characters and the art and the story are fucking phenomenal. It’s got some of my favorite character designs ever by far. Highly recommend this one, such a good read and a feast for the eyes!
The God in the Field
The age-old story of Hades, Persephone, and a love that causes the seasons (with a yaoi twist.) Disclaimer/Content Warning: Anyone familiar with greek mythology will know that they are in for a ride. This comic will contain kidnapping, a coercive relationship with unequal power dynamics, and various other scenes from the underworld that Hades presides over. It will contain NSFW scenes and scenes rated 18+. Please be forewarned!
Notes: One of the most friggin beautiful art styles I’ve come across in a long time. I actually caved in and bought hard copies of this one it was so beautiful. I love everything about this gosh I can’t even put it into words.
Les Normaux
Les Normaux follows the lives of a bunch of supernatural beings living in Paris after a human wizard named Sebastien moved to the city.
Notes: The premise and characters in this one are so unique and the art style is so cute. Actually everything in this is cute, and funny, and just a good time in general. Highly recommend this one.
Indigents
Dakota and Kennedy are thrown together in a world ravaged by a single disease. Fast spreading and corrupting sanity, civilization was razed to the ground. For those fortunate to have immunity, life isn't easy. Avoiding the diseased is one thing, but without law and order those left take complete advantage of a world they can now build for themselves. Stranded together in the ghost of the country they once knew, Dakota and Kennedy fight through whatever obstacles lay in their path, seeking peace and quiet and maybe something to eat.
Notes: I really like the way the story is going, not to mention the art is hella nice. Highly recommend this one, especially if you like apocalyptic themes and such.
Wham, Bam!
Harvey is nothing. He's a nobody. Trapped in a small Texas town where nothing ever changes, doomed to waste away in the scrub brush and withering sun, he figures the best he can do is keep his head down and stay out of everyone else's way. After all, who would be crazy enough care about a deadbeat redneck like him? Then one day an old Dodge rumbles into the parking lot of the gas station where he works, and Harvey learns that some folks wear their crazy like it'll never go out of style. It's amazing how much your life can change in just four days. [WARNINGS: explicit content, strong language, depictions of violence, TW for homophobic attitudes/language (later on). 18+ only please.]
Notes: I am in love with this art and storyline. It’s so unique, I don’t think I’ve read anything quite like it. Not to mention that the title itself grabbed me in for the hook before anything else. I can’t wait to see more!
Moonflower
Sometimes, home can be a person. A sheltered young mutant meets a soldier who's seen far too much for his short life. A process of learning and healing begins.
Notes: The art is so pretty, reminds me a lot of avatar the last airbender in terms of style. I’m super excited to see where this story goes as well, the characters are super interesting and really cute!
Hendrix and Julian
Hendrix and Julian are natural enemies- a cocky jock and the school's gay punching bag, but will all that change after one cold night alone in the gym cupboard? (NSFW)
Notes: I’m usually not a fan of the whole bullied falling for bully plot but I really really love how this story goes. Not to mention the nsfw scenes are really good and the art is just yesssss. I highly recommend this one!
Aspera
Nine young adults with different backgrounds all end up in the same area in Paris. What started off as another semester at art school takes a turn when the differences of the group's lives finally meet. A story of lgbt love, friendship and finding yourself. Warning for blood, violence, sexual content and drug use in the upcoming chapters.
Notes: The art style is cute, the characters are cute, the comic feels super relatable and down to earth and I just really love the whole thing overall. I always get so excited when it updates!
Countdown to Countdown
Iris is a young man with the gift to bring pieces of artwork into reality. 5 years into an apocalyptic outbreak, he's holed up in a lab that shelters "problem" children. Between his failed experiments, deteriorating mental stability, and being ridiculed by other members of the lab, he doesn't think life could get any worse. Life agrees to disagree.
Notes: This comic is so friggin beautiful. The story is hella interesting and the setup is like that of a video game which I think is really super creative and interesting to experience. The characters and the world they are in are really fun and interesting and just overall this is a really well done comic, I’m always excited for when it updates!
Heartstopper
Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more...?
Notes: The title of this comic is the most accurate thing. This comic has my heart stopping because of how dang cute this is. Seriously, there are parts of this that have me screaming on the floor. The art style is so cute and airy and totally fits the mood of this comic and the characters are so adorkable and just...aughhh go read it seriously!
With Great Abandon
With Great Abandon is a queer romance set over the course of a year in London. It's the story of Harry and Russell's differences, similarities, and relationship. A hopeful and kind story. Also food and comics.
Notes: This comic made me cry (good tears). The story is so down to earth and realistic, not to mention so cute. Also the art and colors are just on point and I really appreciate this comic aesthetically. It just completed and I was very satisfied, you should definitely give it a read!
Age of the Grey
When the unseen war between heaven and hell finds itself bound to the plane of humans, several kids discover themselves caught in the middle. The almighty angels of heaven and the wicked demons of hell battle for their kingdoms, a revolution that could mean the end of humanity, and when god and the devil decide to take it into their own hands, only chaos can follow.
Notes: This is such a cool concept executed with such bold and expressive art. I love love love the characters and its so cool to see how the art continues to improve over the course of the story! Definitely recommend this!
Behind these Birchwood Walls
Adrian Pembroke's parents put their foot down after his teenaged mischief turns into a run in with the cops. He finds himself shipped off to Mercier Preparatory Academy, an elite boarding school. Miserable and feeling utterly out of place, Adrian soon lands himself into trouble as usual. He is rescued from his own antics by Acario Ambrose, the resident golden boy of Mercier. Appearances are deceiving, and Adrian learns a great deal more about both himself and his new friend than he ever bargained for.
Notes: I love this so much, it started out a bit slow but as soon as the story got going i was on the edge begging for updates. The art is amazing, I have no idea how this artist is able to be so consistent with their painting style throughout, its amazing!
Ingress Adventuring Company
Saving the world is a pretty big deal, but what do you do once you’re done saving the world and no one needs you anymore? Do you become a magic professor? Do you study a convoluted thesis that no one understands? Maybe you relive the glory days by starting up a one-man adventuring party to gather mystical artifacts for people who may or may not pay you. Or, if you’re Toivo Kissa, you do all of those things.
Notes: I fell in love with the premise and art at first sight. It’s absolutely adorable and the main character is so precious I love him so much. I cannot wait to see where the shenanigans go.
Ambrosia
Alphor, a countryside apothecary, comes to the capital city for work, where he has a chance encounter with his estranged childhood friend, the wizard Selfrid. The same childhood friend who confessed his love for him ten years ago, before they separated. They resume their friendship, as though there was no confession, but such feelings can't be forgotten that easily; they are torn between the bitterness of a crushed first love and the comfort of a friendship they don't want to ruin again.
Notes: This comic is so damn pretty i can’t handle it. I love the setting and all the little world elements added into this comic. Definitely a bit of a slow burn if you’re into that but oh man will it be satisfying if the main ship finally sails.
Sunkissed
When Stephen, a quiet bookworm from Oregon, gets his admission letter from the University of Hawaii at Manoa he was anticipating some life changes. What he didn’t anticipate was meeting Alex, an upbeat and easygoing local who offers to be his guide around the island. After that, it’s love at first sight. Through ups and downs, they’ll bring out the best in each other in this story of love, growth, and self-acceptance.
Notes: If you want a sweet heartwarming story about 2 cinnamon buns falling in love with each other then this is the comic for you! Seriously, every little tiny moment in this comic just makes me scream because its too cute.
Dissent
A cursed prince must rely on a witch to free him from an enchantment. But witchcraft is banned, and the two young men have little in common. As love blossoms between them, can they overcome their own prejudices, save their nation, and find a cure... before it's too late?
Notes: Everything about this comic i just love love love love. The story, the art, the characters, everything! It tugs at your heartstrings in ways you don’t even expect whilst dealing with a suspenseful situation. I’d gush forever about this one but I don’t have enough room.
Guard Dog
BL about people living in the post apocalyptic world where being infected by a zombie won't immediately turn you into one, but it can give you some troubles... and some extras
Notes: By the same creator as Handcuffs, which is also on this list, I knew when this came out I’d love it too. I was not wrong. Cute gay bois in the apocalypse, what more can you ask for? Definitely a must read!
The Sun Prince, the Saint, and the Changeling
When Tomas stumbles into unexpected feelings for his friend Matthias, he dreams about a fun, uncomplicated summer romance. Instead, he discovers that he doesn’t know his friend nearly as well as he thought he did, he knows himself even less, and when your family has connections to the Holy Roman Empire, nothing is ever simple. When summer comes, Tomas finds himself drawn into a mystery spanning two years and three hearts — one of which is his own.
Notes: This is one of my all time favorite comics. I am a sucker for lgbt historical romances and everything about this comic from the story, to the art, to the world building is just so beautifully done. Cannot gush enough about this one to do it justice, just read it.
Abel & a Dead Man
Jim lives an ordinary life until the day he's supposed to die. Abel is a Soul Collector who decides to let Jim live and asks him out instead.
Notes: Such a unique graphic art style combined with one of my favorite grim reaper x supposed to be dead person premises, I highly highly recommend checking this out.
Life Outside the Circle
The heartwarming tale of two men who find love in the Finnish countryside.
Notes: This comic is way too cute I cannot handle how cute it is everything about it just makes me scream because ahhhh it so CUTE!!! Just read it and you’ll understand what I mean.
