I know its been a week but your "Leander is Gaston" has been in my head ever since.... bc its so spot on... yes he IS Gaston and he doesn't get why you're want to venture out to the woods so bad.... if its books you want, HE can get you some..

Mhin, as reserved as they are, allows you to discover their world on your own terms...

Leander keeps everything so tightly in check you feel like you're in snow globe at times..

In an other version, beauty is given a ring to come back to the beasts domain after some time ... I soooo clearly can picture Leander hiding it somewhere and playing the role of the comforting friend after the deadline is up:

"See, things like this always end up in tragedy. That's just the way of the world." He tells you. He would lift your chin up to look at him, wipe away your tears and kiss your eyelids before adding: "That's why I wanted you to stay. So that i could shield you from such pain. But its ok now. I'm here. We're home"You're clinging to him and sobbing and it breaks his heart but he thinks it's for the best. This way you know that the only safe place is by his side. This was just a particularly painful lesson. He'll help you through it. He always will.

Leander as Gaston in a Beauty and the Beast AU is just so interesting because of how much the characters parallel each other. Leander, like Gaston, is supposed to be an ideal image to everyone else in the town, the charming, heroic ringleader of Lowtown, but this perfect, too-good-to-be-true image could be hiding something darker. Having a Gaston like Leander, one who isn't as outwardly terrible to others, someone friendly and generous and seems like he genuinely wants to help. Well, it would be easier to see why he is so beloved by everyone in this poor provincial town, why everyone is so quick to take up a torch to storm a castle at his orders.

The rejected proposal scene. Leander trying to paint a perfect picture of your future together and when you decline, he seems to accept your answer with grace, but the truth is, he already sees you as his and there are no lengths he won't travel to get what he wants. You belong to each other, can't you see? You will, soon enough…And he will help you understand that. He'll always be here to lend you a helping hand and guide you out the darkness.
