#in other words: I think i'm starting to sell myself on blossom/princess
Text
When it comes to shipping Princess with one of the PPG, the pairing I tend to be drawn the least towards is her and Blossom, surprisingly, even though it's probably the most popular ship of the three and also technically makes the most sense because they're the ones that interact the most in the show.
And I don't think it's a bad ship, but the way I've normally seen it portrayed in fandom is sort of like a rivals to lovers dynamic which isn't really my thing. (Completely a personal preference; I love a smart, badass Princess but I just find the idea of being in constant competition with your partner incredibly stressful). Compared to Bubbles/Princess which would naturally lead more towards a "redemption through love" plot and Buttercup/Princess for "corruption through love," which are both tropes near and dear to my heart.
But the more I think about it, I think Blossom/Princess could also be really interesting if you take a look at a mutual flaw of theirs like perfectionism and use that to build their relationship. Maybe they could still be rivals at first, but like. One day Blossom sees Princess having a meltdown because she embarrassed herself in public or failed a test, and she started using some really questionable coping mechanisms to deal with all the pressure she puts on herself to be The Best. She also knows that Princess, no matter how much she'd deny it, still kind of idolizes her as "the perfect girl" and uses that to sort of sneakily teach her better ways to cope with her issues and help her realize she doesn't always have to be the smartest, prettiest, most popular girl in the world and in the process begins to realize oh wait. Neither do I.
