I feel the reason why people criticise Anna more than Matthew, is because CC literally portrays her as a fuckboy. Mathew has slept around, and is annoyingly entitled and superficial. But him have multiple sexual partners (and treating them poorly), isn’t focal to his storyline. Whereas, with Anna, it feels like that’s all her characterisation has come to. I loved her in EET when she was coming to terms with her sexuality and first heartbreak. But after Ariadne, it honestly felt melodramatic of her to stop believing in love, hardening her heart and recklessly dumping and recording names of those she’d slept with.

Bare in mind that this series is set during a time where homosexuality was a sin, and keeping a book like that would’ve been careless in terms of the women’s safety, especially if it got into the wrong hands.

I also dislike the fact that Ariadne has been pinned up as some plot device for Anna’s character development (I absolutely hated how much she yearned and was desperate for Anna in CHOI). As if this beautiful, lesbian WOC doesn’t have anything better to do like, becoming besties with Alastair/Eugenia, and having other romantic partners of her own.

Again, I literally never seen that happen? And yeah, we were introduced to her when she kicked a sobbing girl out of her house to get married to a man she didn't love (Evangeline I hope ur doing ok), CC is def going for a fuckboy character.

I don't think Matthew treats his partners poorly, it's exactly the opposite with Kellington for example. I'm pretty sure he uses sex/falling in love as a way of self-harming, so if anything, that's a sympathetic part of his character.

Anna and Kamala knew each other for what, 8 hours? I'm pretty sure they only spent two nights together (when they met and when they had sex) and broke up the next day. I don't understand how they've been madly in love woth each other for two years, or why some Anna stans act like it's okay for her to treat women like shit because of it?

Yes, plus she literally called it her “book of conquests”! Kamala deserves so much better. Give her besties (Genie and Alastair I'm looking at u) and a gf if she wants one (gENIE I AM LOOKING AT—)
