tentatively excited for jannat se aagay because i think its premise looks Just different enough for it to be semi-interesting but im pretty much all in for Mein as of rn lol.. i think ayeza is a genuinely good actress with star power who gets relegated to the same roles all the time so this darkish glamorous tone has me so intrigued.... Not really a wahaj fan but i think their chemistry was chemistrying enough that if they actually do go the morally grey route for ayeza i'll watch.
also i saw you ask for green tv recs and i don't wanna be one of those people that says ALL OF THEM bc how counter-productive so here's some base-level reviews for the ones i've watched: tumhare husn ke naam is a classic romance that i think earns the 90s drama comparisons. very sweet so far but i think its most unique aspect is that this is the first time since mera naam yousuf hai probably that ive been endeared to an imran abbas character lol. jeevan nagar is really funny and rabia butt is a gem i'm very excited for her career but tonally it's something i have a hard time getting into.. reminds me of old pakistani skit shows but elevated to a certain level. kabli pulao i actually haven't seen which is blasphemous but the premise didn't intrigue me at all... might give it a chance for nadia afghan. 101 talaqain has an interesting story but i couldnt continue it because the direction was choppy and contrived. idiot suffers from a lack of defined secondary characters but the main two are very very endearing and well-acted so its like... if youre willing to sacrifice your time watching ahmed ali akbar and mansha pasha play the main couple from 3 idiots. finally, i think 22 qadam might be my favorite? its directed well and the storyline is actually intriguing so far even though from the teasers i was worried about how they were gonna do the cricket stuff (they managed it well). couldn't tell you about the romance bc there's been one interaction at the point im at but hareem CARRRRRIES and wahaj actually plays charismatic foil pretty well. sorry these are all just rambles but i hope u have a great day <3
I don't think Ayeza gets relegated to the same roles though? she tries to switch it up whenever she can. of course her "damsel in distress" roles outnumber her other characters but she has given a success in Meenu (a bubbly character) and in Mere Pass Tum Ho and Yaariyan (negative characters). Laapata toh had her playing a bubbly, negative-ish character. she definitely has the range and she looks terrific onscreen. even more so since she has started taking charge of the styling of her characters. her wardrobe in Mein looks ek dum GORGEOUS I just know Imma be salivating on her looks alot. Wahaj-Ayeza chemistry..idk..haven't been WOWed by it yet but i am hoping the drama itself will change that perspective.
thank you for the rundown about Green Ent's shows! i still haven't gotten the time or frankly even the inclination of checking out any of these. I read multiple complains about the channel's shows' having techincal issues that overall impacted the quality of the shows and honestly that has me hesitating in checking them out. alsoooo...maybe it's just me but there's something a little "off" about all of the dramas either the casting or the kind of stories that are telling that just doesn't pique my interest? i am not writing the channel or the content off entirely..i hope it will offer me something in the future that will have me taking this channel seriously but so far, I am far more concerned about shows that happen on the Big 3 channels of PakTV and am treating Green as just a beta version of a channel that needs time and continuous tinkering to work out its chinks before I consider it ready as a channel to be invested in.
#mein#green entertainment#my optimism about the state of PakDramas is just overflowing :)))))))))))))))))))

On April 16, 2007, Dr. Liviu Librescu, a 76-year-old Holocaust survivor, was killed while blocking the doors of his Virginia Tech classroom with his body as the gunman tried to enter, giving all but one of his students time to escape through the classroom windows.
On April 3, 2009, a receptionist named Shirley DeLucia was shot through the stomach at the American Civic Association in Binghamton and nonetheless remained on the line to 911 for almost 40 minutes, relaying information to the SWAT team (this particular mass shooting happened right down the road from where I was working at the time, incidentally, so it’s a little close to home).
On December 14, 2012, Victoria Soto, Lauren Rousseau, and Rachel D’Avino, all teachers and aides at Sandy Hook Elementary School, were killed trying to get their students to safety. Anne Marie Murphy was shot multiple times while shielding six-year-old Dylan Hockley with her body. Neither survived.
On June 17, 2015, 26-year-old Tywanza Sanders was killed trying to shield his great-aunt from a gunman at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston. Prior to the shooting, the victims had welcomed the gunman into their Bible study session.
On June 12, 2016, Imran Yousuf, a Marine veteran and a bouncer at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, got as many as 70 people out of the club after the shooting started.
On March 15, 2019, Adeeb Sami was shot in the back shielding his children from the gunman in Christchurch, NZ. Daoud Nabi was killed protecting another worshipper; reportedly, his last words were to welcome his murderer into the mosque. Naeem Rashid was killed trying to tackle the gunman. His 21-year-old son Talha was also killed.
*
These are just the ones I know of off the top of my head. I just. Maybe we could give some of the obsessive attention we aim at mass shooters to the people who acted bravely in the face of their violence, huh? Because I swear to god, if I have to read another thinkpiece on the topic of ‘Let Us Delve Into The Soul Of This Pathetic Asshole Who Decided To Murder People Because His Life Sucked’, my brain may explode.

CDC Group revealed that it seeks to expand FGV’s investment portfolio across a diverse range of verticals. It added that FGV has already invested in more than 40 percent of Pakistan’s recent record-breaking funding deals.
The venture capital firm’s Techxila Fund I backed logistics startup Airlift’s seed round in August 2019, after which the company raised $85 million in a record-breaking Series B round for a Pakistani startup.
Techxila also backed online marketplace Tajir in June, which raised a US$17 million Series A round led by US VC Kleiner Perkins.
The fund then participated in fintech startup TAG’s $12 million follow-up seed round, the largest seed round in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan region.

PDM's Karachi rally may have been more effective if women were allowed to participate: Bilawal
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday took a jibe at the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) rally in Karachi a day earlier, saying "maybe the rally would have been more effective if they (PDM) gave women permission to participate."
Addressing a press conference in Sukkur, he said he could not comment on whether the PDM rally — the alliance's first power show after a months-long lull — was "successful", adding that the PPP believed all democratic parties should play their role.
However, it would have been "more effective" if the PDM allowed women to participate in the rally, he said.
"This is not Afghanistan. This is Karachi, capital of Sindh," he remarked.
He questioned how a country and a city could be run when "even a home cannot be run without a woman", recalling that Pakistan was the first Muslim country to appoint a female prime minister.
No society can progress until men and women are equal participants in economy and politics, the PPP chairperson said. "Maybe this was a reason that Karachi rejected them (PDM) and that [an] impression could not be built as in the past."
However, there was "more time" and the PDM would hold more events, he said. "Our best wishes are with them — that the government is harmed from their movement instead of benefitted because till now, we think the government is benefitting from the PDM's way of [doing] politics."
He shared that he had asked Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to talk to PDM president and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and inform them that "we are present if they need anything."
Bilawal said the PPP had "showed a way to the whole country to get rid of Prime Minister Imran Khan" when it managed to make former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani win in the Senate polls in March instead of PTI's Abdul Hafeez Shaikh.
He said that if the other opposition parties agreed to "first attack Punjab and then go the national level, then this government will go home".
If the opposition was serious, then it could pull off "such a big feat, the example of which you won't find in the democratic system" similar to how it had "defeated the prime minister from his own electoral college" during the Senate polls, he added.
Talking about mass resignations — the issue which led to PPP's separation from the alliance — the PPP chairperson said the PDM parliamentarians should resign "on principle since we are not together [and] that was their problem".
The votes of PDM members who were a part of the National Assembly were being "wasted", he claimed.
Bilawal invited the opposition to support the PPP, stressing that it could "not only give a tough time to the government but also remove it".
Responding to a question, the PPP chairperson said it was a "misunderstanding" that the Sindh government did not want to hold local government elections.
He claimed that a "fake census was conducted to snatch the rights and resources from the province and people", citing it as the reason for the delay in holding elections for local bodies.
He noted that the Sindh government had written twice, asking for a joint sitting of parliament to be held on the issue of the 2017 census, but the demand was not accepted.
"As soon as this issue concludes, we will be first in carrying out local bodies elections and also win them."
The PPP "respected democracy and national mandate" which is why local bodies were able to complete their five-year term unlike in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.
