2024 is the year I loop back around and start defending the last bastions of the music I like from tumblrification if I have to hear another instagram infographic yelled to me between songs while people are just posturing around I swear to god. More show less tell everyone I'm begging I genuinely felt an all encompassing sense of togetherness and brotherhood and vibes from the regular degular get kicked in the head evening vs a skin crawling roll your eyes so hard you crack your skull sensation from the let's shout tumblr slogans crowd. Like how all the t-shirts and patches and stuff that were pushing snappy punchy slogans about the political issue du jour almost always casually include the word bitch.

#my somewhat unpopular opinion is that if your black metal is about being nice and affirming and charming and inviting it is not very good #like as a genre defined by sounding bad and being antisocial and edgy and dark why are we trying to change it #imagine we're in a store and im there for edgy and stupid but youve made it so they dont stock it anymore #instead of just going and getting something else #in my experience as well people who really actively push to get their politics into their music like that #are often the most unbearable nightmare level people you'll ever meet #whereas a guy in poland recording guitar tracks to his phone will have distilled the essence of pain and isolation into music so effectively #one listen of the ep will leave you snatched bald
