[she grins and lets her head fall to his shoulder again.]

[she listens calmly and squeezes his hand back, in a hopefully reassuring manner.]

Aw, that's too sweet, but I wouldn't want you to get suspended due to me.

[she furrows her brows.]

So, you want me to talk to Sully or something? I can do that. Though I guess "Cade really needs to leave because otherwise I might stab the next person who's an asshole to him" wouldn't be a good argument.

[she says this in a thoughtful manner, but the grin on her face shows that she's joking.]

Okay, but for real, I actually think it's a good idea. Like, it's not very likely you're attitude towards the people there - or the people themselves - will change much within the next three years, so the prospect of you making friends isn't very high.

Plus, the sooner you get out, the sooner you can start to work and make money...?

And if Sully really is so concerned about your "social life", you now have me, you do help with Chester and the kids at home, or at least don't mind them. Maybe hang out with my friends and I every once in a while just so we can take some pictures and be like "Look! It's Cade! Around people! That he probably doesn't want to kill!"

[she snorts.]

As long as you don't pull any catastrophic shit I'm sure it could work out, Sully seems to be a reasonable man.

[she looks at him again, reaching out to trace along his jaw.]

*Le time skip*

[after a hushed and angry sounding conversation in French between Cade and Sully, Cade suddenly grabs Candy’s hand and drags her to his room]

[he’s upset, but he’s not intending to be rough with her. I’m his haste he pushes her onto the bed, slamming the door shut behind them]

[he doesn’t even turn away from the door, just breathing heavily and trying to calm himself]

[Candy is somewhat taken aback but lets him pull her along. Although unmade, the bed is soft and she manages to avoid hitting any part of the bedframe.]

[she pushes herself into a seating position and watches Cade who seems to be struggling with his emotions, unsure of what to do. Asking if he was okay would be stupid, telling him that everything was fine or to calm down doesn't seem like safe choices either.]

[when Chester gets upset, she usually just leaves him alone until he comes to her, but he's a child. And a friend of her mum's apparently usually just leaves to cool off on his own.]

[so... she remains silent.]
