anyway the elevator pitch is that catra and mara are dating and have been for a couple years and everything's well and good and everyone's happy until mara finally convinces catra to come with her for the holidays to meet her family - and her sister. i have read two age difference fics in my time and i was disappointed by both and did not finish either of them so I think I can do it better. Catra's like, 37, Adora's 24. or something like that.

except, they've met once before at a new year's eve party lmao. I envision it as like, a couple of months into catra and mara dating so they're not super serious yet but mara can't go out on NYE, she's working, or something, and catra's upset about it so mara's like, i'm really sorry, i just want you to have a good time, kiss whoever you want have fun. except neither of them expect that person to be adora lmao

so somehow they end up at the same party and like hang out most of the night bc they're vibing, they're each other's kiss at midnight and afterwards catra's like, yeah look ur really nice and all but you're too young for me and i'm seeing someone. and adora's like oh ok cool n she's kinda sad about it, and catra thinks about it sometimes afterwards, but whatever, it's not that big a deal, they never even got each other's names.

until like 2 years later when catra shows up for christmas and there's adora sitting opposite her at the table sdhjf. and they're both like oh shit oh shit. hey do u ever think about me i mean oops sorry that's so inappropriate. i dreamt abt u a couple times agh why would i even say that. (bow and glimmer are at the christmas for some reason I just thought I'd mention that. adora needs someone to freak out to. I think Adam's there too bc I like him)

and oh right new years is in like six days right? which is kind of their anniversary
