Fandom Hot Take (that I don't really know if it's a hot take or not):

I like that Magus doesn't say anything to the party when he hops through the portal at the end, if you spare him. It gives more than just a, he's dark and mysterious, but when Marle asks him if he's going to try and find Schala, and he just.... Says nothing? And hops in? Everyone knows he's going to try and find and save her. Over and over again, at least, until they get tired of sparring him, or until he actually saves his sister. It's the definition of his insanity, and I love that.

Although I do kinda like the Dream Devourer Ending as well. I just think the base sparring Magus ending fits him better.

(maybe that will change once I get the time to watch a Radical Dreams and Chrono Cross playthrough though.)

Hmmm! I hadn't thought much of Magus in the regular ending other than "ah yes there he go towards his new goal, wish he said bye tho but oh well that's his character", but the way you mention it as a reflection of his singleminded determination is very nice, i like it :)c

And i mean, tbf the dream devourer ending is an attempt to ducktape Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross together and somehow tie Guile to all that after they scrubbed him clean of his narrative ties to Magus/Magil in CCs development. I like it a lot bc i really enjoy thinking on how the amnesia and all that would affect our favorite edgelord but that's me making headcanons lmao, i can see why on it's own the normal ending for CT fits him better 👍
