the way people speak about that l/cked tomb series (re: acting like queer art can't be criticized by its own community) reminds me of this big post abt borhap when the movie was new that said something to the effect of 'DONT tell other people not to engage with queer art just because it's not to your tastes' and im thinking about making a YT vid or sumn ruminating on how this stuff ties into the convos movie & book ppl have been having regarding freedom of expression in reviews / criticism

#im not gonna get into everything bc my thoughts are so layered but at a glance: Marginalized Ppl Disliking Popular Works #About Their Community Does Not Necessarily Mean They're Nitpicking & Trying To Tear Creators Down #like the borhap thing was so funny bc as more and more ppl saw it and sat w it they realized it was not just a shitty depiction of queen #& freddie but also just a poorly executed film in general?#im not saying that's the case w the lcked tomb at all but it's more 'y'all gotta stop acting like every gay person who dislikes a piece of #mainstream gay media is one of those steven universe critical-types
