the final paper im writing for my writing class is a research paper about "how social media has a more negative effect on teens with adhd vs those without". do i necessarily believe this claim? not really, but its so hard to come up with good writing topics and i cant have a neutral stance on this topic so i have to act like the research is in my "favor". oddly enough this assignment lined up right when im taking a break from my main social media, and it really sucks that im not allowed to use first-person narritive because i feel like i would have more to say if i could use my own experiences.
#im discussing how it feeds into the addiction tendencies that come with ADHD and shit like ''making us depressed'' or ''dependant on it''#but i can only get so much from documented studies and those adhd focused sites#itd be great if i could talk about my own stuff since i am extremely technology-dependent and have been borderline addicted in the past#it used to be really hard to tear myself away from twitter and such but now that I've taken more breaks its become easier#and also how social media affects my mental health because sometimes its the cause of a depressive episode and other times its just fuel#like this break wasnt caused by twitter or anything but it was a buildup over a few weeks that had some triggers related to it#and stepping back didnt necessarily help-- moreso that I've been more focused on school and being active on there would've held me back#but back to my main topic yeah I've been dependent on technology to the point that i have battery anxiety and break down if+#i lose my phone or drop my laptop or lose my headphones. it bothers my family a lot but i cant control it well#and i have been on social media since i was like 10-- i could be worse about it like having an actual presence on sites like IG or tiktok#but i guess its less of ''i care about how people feel about me'' and more of#''i dont have irl friends so having a separate life on social media is the only way i can socialize comfortably''#and ofcourse stuff like how social media has been shown to be extremely stimulating which is why people with ADHD and autism tend to+#form more of an ''addiction'' to it#anyways i should be writing this paper now but i don't feel like looking at my sources *ppbbbbltt*
