Cody checks his news when he is enjoying his morning cup of coffee before work. Associate press twitter hack, USA intervention in other countries’ business, legalized same sex marriages in the state of Washington, the best places to work in 2013... He didn’t really process it before waking up kids and assembling their lunches. He just wasn’t a morning person.
It was when Cody rushed into kitchen because he remembers he have left the car keys next to coffee machine they were definitely there love when he glanced at the newspaper one last time, finally noticing it. The keys were here as well. He grabbed those and the paper and rushed back to the car to finally take kids to school and get dropped off by Obi Wan at the station.
“What’s that?”
“Nothing”
“Cody”
“I just haven’t finished my morning newspaper yet, now drive, love, Ahsoka really want to get to her morning history class”, the frown from the backseat didn’t really mean anything positive.
They dropped kids of at the school ten minutes before the start of the classes and had plenty of time to get to university and station. Cody gave Obi Wan a quick kiss on a cheek before jumping out of the car, accidentally dropping the newspaper of the passenger seat. His soon to be husband boyfriend is smart, he would notice it.
He was chatting with Wolffe twenty minutes later, having his yet another cup of coffee when he got 5 messages at the time, ranging from love, you could have warned me to i have already arranged for the appointment with florist and made a draft of the guest list, my wedding is in royal blue. Cody loved him. But was also deeply scared of this man’s organizational skills.
The next half a year was taken by meticulous planning and hyped kids, who have never being to weddings. Ahsoka highly participated in the process up to the moment when she persuaded Cody to pick an old castle several hours drive away and Obi Wan had to call the venue and cancel it. Anakin was always around to choose flowers and Obi Wan was really surprised when Anakin forced him into choosing lavender. They kept them, adding larkspur to it.
The guest list was kept as small as possible. They put their parents on the list, their kids (as much as they didn’t want them to spend time with their cool uncles) and a small pool of dozen friends.
It was beginning of July when they finally realized that only two weeks left. Two weeks left until they would exchange the vows. Two weeks until Ahsoka would give them the rings. Two weeks until the closest people in their lives would witness what they dreamt about for the past 20 years.
Obi Was was nervous. He was excited but terrified. Unable to wait and hoping to postpone the moment until the last possible minute. He couldn’t even spend the last night before the most nerve wrecking moment of his life with his fiancé.
Cody was excited. He knew everything was planned perfectly (because of cause it was, Obi Wan planned it, his man was perfect). But he still was terrified about tomorrow.
None of them slept that night.
The next morning was busy. They had so many people running around, helping them look perfect for this day. But they didn’t do anything. They couldn’t even see each other. Cody was not sure he would be able to keep himself from crying. Obi Wan was sure he would cry the moment he would see Cody. Guests has mades bets on who would cry first.
It was Cody. Of course it was Cody. He stayed at the altar, nervous and excited, when he saw Obi Wan entering the hall with his mom. They looked beautiful. Obi Wan’s suit was royal blue, just like his own. His hair looked so soft he wanted to touch them like yesterday. His blue eyes were filled with tears but he looked at Cody like no one else was in the room. Cody felt his cheeks get wet and hoped that Obi Wan would walk just a little faster. He couldn’t wait anymore.
They held hands the entire ceremony. It took them several attempts to finish vows as they started crying midway. When they finally exchanged the rings and kissed each other, they looked at everyone else. Anakin was not ugly sobbing from all the emotions. Obi Wan’s mom was crying and hugging Anakin. Everyone else just smiled happily, with the tears in their eyes.
After 20 years filled with dates, shared morning cups of coffee, accidentally wearing other’s clothes, arguing about pizza toppings on movie nights, endless night of nursing kids
they finally made it.
