Right now you're lying on your bed crying, while hugging your favorite bunny plush that Stu gave you for Valentine's Day. You didn't understand why they didn't like him and didn't even make an effort to, even though Stu always made you happy and made your life more colorful and enjoyable from the moment you met him. Of course Stu had his flaws like everyone else, since perfection is impossible to achieve and that was fine by you. But not for your parents. They said that Stu distracted you from school, that he "lived" for parties and didn't give you your "precious" time to concentrate on your studies, because he always took you on dates so that he could spend more time with you, even when you said you were busy.

You perfectly knew that Stu wasn't a guy who would take "no" for an answer. Maybe it was because he'd always been spoiled by his parents and didn't understand the meaning of that word? Maybe he hated the fact that you would say "no" to him, because if you truly love him as you always say, why would you reject an opportunity to go out with him? Both answers to those questions are probably correct, because you knew that Stu didn't know how to respect your personal space either, not that you minded anyway. But your parents did and that was the problem. They even told you once that Stu was obsessed with you and that your personal life has also become his, as if it were his property. Maybe they were right about that, but that's how Stu showed how much he loved and cared for you and it always worked well in your relationship. And you really missed him.

Sleep didn't want to make its presence known, so you decided to watch your favorite show on your new tv. However, you still couldn't stop thinking about the argument with your parents. Of course you defended your boyfriend and were always on his side to protect him against anyone, even your own parents, but it did made you very upset... all you wanted was for your family to see how genuinely happy Stu makes you feel, how he always admired you and treated you as if you were the only woman to walk on earth and how he's so funny that it's practically impossible not to laugh because of some silly joke he's made until your cheeks hurt. You just wished your family accepted him and loved him as much as you did...

Your thoughts were suddenly interrupted when you heard your window being knocked on repeatedly. You screamed for a second, because you weren't expecting that to happen in the middle of the cold night. Nevertheless, you immediately felt relieved when you saw Stu standing there with his puppy eyes and big smile on his handsome face you loved so much. A wide smile appeared on your face the moment you realized your boyfriend wanted to surprise you and that he had actually made an effort to see you.

I mean, I (and others) did predict Fionna coming to the realization that ‘Simon being Ice King again is very very bad actually’ via watching IK’s old tapes - in a thematic reversal of Holly Jolly Secrets…. You know, Finn learned to like Ice King more after learning about Simon Petrikov and who he used to be, Fionna learned to like Simon Petrikov more after really learning about Ice King and who he used to be. 

But the thing that really stuck with me about how the show pulled it off is how… tame that video was. Compared to what the audience knows about how terrible Ice King could get. 

Most of the video Fionna saw was Ice King goofing off, with just the last clip giving her a tiny little taste of how prone he was to fits of anger and extreme misery

She didn’t get to see the videos of Ice King crying for literal hours on end, she didn’t get to see him throw tantrums that make him a legitimate danger for those around him, I don’t think she actually knows he used to kidnap and stalk women on a regular basis - but that’s okay, because she didn’t need to. That tiny little taste of Ice King’s misery and pain was really all she actually needed.

Because it really speaks to how little she actually understood of the Ice King’s situation before. How much seeing that one little clip of him back in “Prismo the Wishmaster'' gave her such a totally wrong impression of what Ice King was like

that just seeing him yell at Gunter and cry once is enough to make her totally reexamine all of her preconceived notions about him.

And it really speaks how despite her sometimes-childish attitude, Fionna really possesses a lot of emotional intelligence. Both in how quickly she correctly gauged that Ice King’s behavior in the last clip was a regular thing for him and probably not even his worst moment and that his anger was yet another expression of his being 'super-sad'

And how clearly her Second Thoughts about the Crown Plan didn’t start when she saw Ice King yell - they started when she saw how despite working so hard on getting himself Cursed again, Simon still couldn’t bear the idea of watching videos of Ice King’s ‘Good Times’.

Because as much as it was important for Fionna to really know Ice King in order to fathom just how terrible the Crown Plan was, it was also equally important for her to really know Simon as well.

When she was so dismissive toward Simon’s plight in the Prismo episode, and when she so eagerly and thoughtlessly jumped on the Crown Plan - she really knew nothing about either facets of his identity. She only got such a quick clip of Ice King actually in a good mood, and all she’s seen of Simon was him at his lowest point - rude, dismissive, screaming at her face, literally considering letting her whole world burn in his own depressive spiral. 

It’s only after they reached Farmworld and officially started to work towards the Crown Plan that Fionna really started to know who Simon Petrikov is when he’s not at rock bottom. That’s when she learned how intelligent

And dorky

And kind

And comforting 

And fatherly 

And a silly little hopeless romantic for his GF

he is. 

And they became real friends and she really grew fond of all of these things about him. So now, watching clips of Ice King… it takes her some time to process it, clearly, but it also bothers her how little of these traits that she likes about her friend and he likes about himself she can see in the crazy old Ice Wizard.

Seeing also how mad and sad he could be was just what clinched the deal for her, the last excuse she could find for why it was okay (“Maybe he really was happier like that?”) gone.

And that also relates to her more general anxieties about the Crown Plan from farther in the same episode.

Now that she’s seen how much being infused Magic changed Simon… It's no wonder she’s so worried about how Magic will change her and Cake and all of her loved ones.

And it’s not a totally unfounded fear. We’re still not exactly sure how bringing Magic back into Simon’s brain will affect Fionnaworld - but it will most likely work the same as it did the other way around? When Fionnaworld first lost its magic? So that will mean not only the people and the world will change physically, but their memories and minds will also be altered as if they always lived in the Magical World and never in the Mundane world Fionna remembers.

And that will kinda make them into different people. Gary Prince and Prince Gumball feel like the most obvious comparison. One is a literal god-king who seems to have at least a bit of the old Bubblegum Hubris problem

The other is just a humble little put-on Barista trying to make it big

Becoming Prince Gumball again would be in some way the ultimate fulfilment of Gary's dream - not just a Pastry Mansion but a whole Candy Kingdom! But... it would also mean giving up on all of the memories and experiences of ever having been Gary Prince. And... it's at least worth considering if it's worth it.

We know that Change doesn't have to be all bad, Cake the Cat will testify to that

I'm sure that from her perspective, having every bit of her memories wiped and replaced is worth it if she can keep her mind and ability to speak.

But Fionna's little Storytime with Simon, I think, really gave Fionna a look to how much his reminiscing is important to him

and really gave her a glimpse to how much people's history and memories effect who they are, and seeing this and seeing what ‘turning into a different and more magical person without your original memories’ did to Simon Petrikov

I had to scribble out his ending dialogue. I just couldn't lose this image i had in my head, of this poor charachter who tried his best still (for lack of a better word) dying, and not screaming or crying when it's happening but instead saying this and then gently apologizing, like it's his fault, and that's the last he ever says. I'm actually so sick about him like god like "I've wasted my whole life hiding, I think I should try saying hello." God. Super Ultra Rambling under the readmore if you're curious about my elaborate Thoughts;

Ik is my favorite charachter because he is very silly and my best friend ever in the world but also because of the Tragedies. He's a person used to fear, a people pleaser, who let mr. Sob manipulate him and turn his hotel into something he never wanted, simply pretending it was still the same, who spends the whole game trying so hard to keep you in high spirits and unworried even when he himself is terrified. Someone who cares too much and tries so hard and probably never even gave nearly as much to himself as he did to others. Even at the end, as he describes to you all the horrors that unfolded on earth, he makes jokes and quips and keeps up his goofy manner of speaking despite the information clearly disturbing him.

When he tells you the story of his death, he never once mentions anything about how sad it is, and if you respond with "I'm sorry," he says like basically "oh it's fine," before hesitating with a concerned look on his face. His death may be something he avoids thinking about a lot.

And describing him, i can't help but relate to him, understand him, perhaps that's why I am so Insane about him right now.

I think this game is about, no matter what happens, at the end of it all it will still be the end. It may even end sooner than you'd expect. The human race before dying out solved all their problems and created a perfect world, Ik tried hard to do good and make people happy, Mr. Sob gained his own twisted control over many souls of the afterlife, you the player just kept going onward as much you could, but they all came to the same unceremonious end. I suppose it all matters on your perspective- do you focus on the ending, or how you got there?

When Ik tells you about his death, he describes how he saw the stars, and the view of his town from all the way high up, how he stopped and looked for a long time. But he couldn't stay forever, he had to keep moving. I think that's the part that mattered most. Even in so terrible a situation, he got something beautiful out of it. And like i guess part of the game is, "we can't stop what's coming, there's no use hiding, so we may as well face it with a smile and a greeting." Or maybe more like "the time will pass anyways" type of thing. If that makes sense.

I've seen some people interpret the Morning as everyone is brought to a final resting place peacefully. And of course, it's wide open for everyone to interpret it however, but for me personally I thiiiink Ik was probably right about it being the end of time. The thing seemed a little bit too obliterating-you-type-deal in the final cutscene. All the humans are dead and it's time for their afterlife to go too now. Maybe it's to make room for something that'll replace us, or to start over from scratch with everything, but for all the human souls, it's the end.

Maybe the sole survivor of all existence is Shrimp, in the afterlife, always running from the Morning, wandering for eternity. Which i say to be silly but also that would be really sad actually. He'd be alone... he'd get hungry and there'd be no one there to feed him lounge chairs and tables and glass vases..... poor shrimp..........

I don't know if it would have been better or worse if you could just find his abandoned collar on the ground somewhere before that last lantern. Probably worse actually. Yeah no I'm glad that's not a thing. I'm sorry for saying that.

But anyway, what a damn good game. I'm sad it didn't get more attention when it came out, it feels like such a passion project. I feel bad for only finding out it exists recently. I'll try my best with telling all my friends to play it too though. Cause like oh man. Good god. It made me laugh, it made me scared, and now it's made me cry, drawing and typing this post. Leon gets in front of you and takes off the blindfold that prevented you from seeing anything. The previous darkness that blurred your vision is now disappearing as your eyes adjust to the neon lights that the scenario before you offers.

“Ta-da!” Leon’s lips curve into a cheerful smile as he extends his arms, showing you his greatest idea. He has been planning this date for days. Ever since he read this new fair was coming to town, he just knew he had to take you there.

He is the epitome of a good boyfriend, dates are always a must when he has free time. And even when he couldn’t be with you, he would leave surprises. A sticky note telling you how much he loves you? Done. Having flowers delivered to your front door? Of course.

I grew up on the manga adaptation of Maximum Ride. Maximum Ride has shaped a lot of who i am. it helped me develop my art style. it's themes are something that still impacts me. there's something about a found family of genetically modified human-"freak of nature" children with superpowers and wings constantly being on the run from the institute that made them and abused them in their experiments to help them rule the world!

i think the manga adaptation is the better part of this franchise. because i remember going back to read the actual novel myself and just... having to stop completely... because it was so much more worse than i remember????? and then going back and rereading the earlier manga, well it's.. not the best either xD not to mention some parts that kinda aged poorly. at least it was just small stuff. probably. the movie adaptation is by far the worst part of it and i didnt even finish it.

for so long in my childhood part of the excitement of going to the movie theaters was rhe hope i might see a trailer for a maximum ride movie. and one day my family showed me a real trailer and i screamed out of joy. but when i actually got to see the movie?? i barely got through the beginning bc it was so... bad??? they had already changed the story so much. all the characters seemed to hate each other. Angel wasnt the sweetheart she was normally depicted as and Fang was immediately sexualized in his intro instead of introduced as being the mysterious and aloof guy he is. btw, the three oldest characters of the main cast were 14. rhey did a hot shirtless "just came out the shower" intro for a buff 14 yr old. technically they all in lore look okder than they are but that actor had to at least be 22 lmao

my least favorite part of maximum ride aside from the poor writing was making them young but their experimentation made them look older. Max and Fang were FOURTEEN! AND THERE WAS AN ADULT CHARACTER IMPLIED TO BE FLIRTING WITH FANG AND MAX WAS LIKE ALL JEALOUS BUT WASNT CONCERNED ABOUT THE FACT THIS ADULT YOUNG WOMAN WAS FLIRTING WITH THIS 14 YR OLD BOY!

ik hes the love interest but????? STOP IT???? STOP SECUALIZING HIM???

i feel like if the oldests were 16-17 thatd be better and make more sense for them to sorta look like adults if the looking older than they actually are was really that important. bc they did look young adults or older teenagers.

i really wish they didnt discontinue the manga series though. goddamn cliff hanger. NarRae Lee was an amazing artist, saw that shes still making manga which is great! hope she's doing well. (i really loved her little comic bits she did about her life at the end of some of the manga, those were fun, i think she advertised her twitter but i couldnt find it shfjsj)

basically is what im saying is that James Patterson should give me the rights to Maximum Ride so i can do better :) for free!!!!!!!!!/silly

Info dumping abt my post finale Inanimate Insanity au/hc!

This is a rly long post and sleep deprived written so be prepared

Heyo hi! my brain is currently rotting sooo I’m going to rant abt it!! wooo anygays strap in for this yap fest. Ik s4 coming out soon but let me have my fun for now 😔 Not adding s1 remaster into account until thats over I don’t want to confuse myself

First I’m just gonna start off where the characters live. I’m only gonna list out purg/mepad mansion residents +extras cause if I did hotel hoot I fear we’d be here all day so anyone I don’t mention they just live in the hotel :)

Mepad/Purg mansion-

Obviously the og group is still living here (Marsh, Apple, Bow, Dough) plus Knife now cause he’s dead (sobs) and due to ii18 ending I’m guessing Suitcase is joining also them.

It makes the most sense for Box to also live here, Suitcase and her are basically instant friends and it might be slightly awkward in the Hotel with objects like Trophy, Nickel, Balloon, TK and everyone else. She’d definitely visit the hotel a lot but her main residency would be here. 

Taco lives here mostly cause 1) guilt 2) she has a rocky relationship with both Paper and OJ and 3) its so much less chaotic then the hotel  and this girl is one anxiety attack away from cracking and ending herself 😭.  Tho she visits the hotel (and more specifically Soap & Mic) 2 times a week so it’s all good!!

TOILET LIVES IN MEPAD MANSION i scream as they drag me into the infirmary. okay so maybe I’m so brainrotted with both Sour swirl (toico) and toipad but he lives here trustttt. He’s probably reallyyy injured so he can’t go back to wherever he resides (since he’s not a part of meeple or melife) and still wants to process Mepads death so it makes sense that they nurse him back to health here. Plus everyone has a new found appreciation for him after everything!!! Go my Suitcase and Toilet friendship and Toico agenda!!!! 

Frequent visitors are Pickle, Mic, Soap, Paintbrush, Balloon, OJ and Paper. You can probably guess who’s visiting for who.

Testtubes “secret” lab-

Back with another “Star pushing their ships onto everyone” find out what happens next time on- *explodes*. Okay but seriously I feel like TT, Fan, PB and LB would be living here just as a silly poly couple. Every day is like what silly adventures do we go on today?! And every Saturday is movie night!!! God I love them.

Bot probably has a room there however, Bot lives everywhere tbh. They also have a room in the Hotel (which is rly just a shared room with Goo). Bot and Goo are like kids that the Polylights babysit a lot to the point that they’re basically all family but not rly related. Idk if that makes sense it’s 3:00 am and I’m tired as fuck ;-;

Now with the living arrangements out of the way, here are some important hcs!! 

-Everyone who got killed by MephoneX in the finale has a scar where he stabbed them (he stabs them in my humanized au with a spear it just makes sense to me shhh) -Mephone4 & 3GS sometimes visit & call the contestants (mostly the ones that forgive 4 cause everyone loves 3GS lets be real) both of them are Bots goofy uncles -Lifer, TK, Taco and Soap are the official doctors/healers of the cast. Need to be bandaged up? Go to Lifer. Sick as fuck? TK will gladly make you the most delectable soup or Mac and cheese that will heal you and ur inner child. Don’t know if the berry’s you found in the woods will kill you? Taco will lecture you on the different kinds poisonous fruits. And you need cleanliness tips? *cough cough Fan cough cough* Ask Soap and she’ll give you a whole shower routine.  -On the other hand, TT, Fan and Pickle are the tech experts for everyone. -OJ teaches Suitcase how to not go bankrupt and commit tax fraud -Mepad is currently being fixed by TT -Balloon has somehow, by some miracle, has not popped yet /silly -Taco homeschools Apple sometimes! She’s doing very well and is actually able to understand most words now :) 

I might update this list later with more important things but this is all can think of rn
