Because this is a Website (and I have the OCD) I fully expect to get chewed out for all the angles I /didn't/ explicitly cover. My intent is not to shame anyone re: what they "should" be doing, just to make the point that the sunscreen options out there are DRASTICALLY different than they were 10 years ago, with formulations that overcome a ton of common objections. I don't want anyone to opt out of sunscreen based on the /assumption/ nothing will work for them.
That also applies to things like "I can't wear sunscreen because of sensory issues" because there are many fomulations that don't have the texture/smell/etc typically associated with sunscreen. If it's based on that assumption, it's worth trying newer brands/formats to see if you can find something you CAN wear (and test it when you're not going out anywhere so you can take it off immediately if it's no good).
If someone specifially tells me they Can't, I believe them, I'm not arguing with that. But this is just a general thing that isn't directed at anyone specific or intended to doubt someone who's explicitly said that they Can't.
I'm personally in the scenario where I've just learned about all these new options that weren't around 10 years ago, when I really should've been wearing sunscreen more and wasn't - so I'm trying them now. So it's like hey, if you thought all sunscreens were [negative trait] and so you can't wear them, but ideally want to, there's new stuff out there!
I don't care about "shaming" anyone's personal sunscreen use or lack thereof because I don't have skin in that game (pun intended). Ultimately if you dont wear sunscreen to avoid sensory issues or for any other reason that's totally your prerogative. I just don't want people to miss out who DO want to when there are options that overcome their barriers.
