Of course I'm so honestly grateful and shocked that 911 made Bi Buck canon but seeing the influx of fans come into the show ONLY for him sucks. Oliver himself pointed this out: 911 isn't the fruity firefighter show because Buck went canon queer in s7. It's the fruity firefighter show because from the first season, from the first episode, there were queer characters. There was a queer firefighter. Hen is what originally made this the fruity firefighting show.
Like, I love Buck and Buddie as much as the next person, I've loved them for a long time, but it is very frustrating seeing people start watching this show only for Buck. Because of Buck? Great, totally valid, I hope you enjoy your time with these characters.
But for Buck? ... I saw someone ask what the best episodes were to get to know him. (BTW the answer is: the whole show.) I see people complaining about no Eddie in s1. I don't know how to tell these people that this is an ensemble show, and Buck is not the main character.
I don't want to say there's a wrong way to interact with this show or these characters but it just feels really bad to see some of the main themes of friendship, community, care, growth, etc get ignored by new fans who only want to have another white gay boy for their collection. Not to mention the representation shown through healthy male/female and adult/child friendships, black women being allowed to have friendly and caring relationships, found family, complicated family dynamics, all the delight and angst of the other ships, the other queer journeys…
Just. I don't know. What's the point of watching this show if you only care about one single character (or two at best, or three if we count Christopher) out of an ensemble cast? Might as well just go read the fic or watch a Buddie moments compilation video on youtube, you'll have a much better time and the rest of us won't have to see all these annoying posts
And anyway, we all know Buck solo stans don't have a great track record honestly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

you're so right when you say anything positive abt danny gets turned into smth that takes away from it bcs that's what's happening in aussie media rn about the hulu show and it really frustrates me. there's an article from news.com.au basically saying that hollywood is his big dream and not racing and that if he's "forced" into retirement soon, he'll be working in hollywood. and it irks me because he just said to chris medland that he's trying to find a good balance and that racing is his core. and in that same article, lewis' movie apex gets brought up but no mention of it being a glimpse into lewis' life after racing, the way downforce supposedly is for daniel. no hate to lewis, i'm loving his creative pursuits (hate brad pitt but cant have it all ig) but this framing of daniel being distracted when he is clearly focused on being race winner again really upsets me.
It's sad seeing how the Australian media's approach to Daniel has changed so much, especially this year during the Aus GP. They used to be 'this is our aussie bloke and we love him' but it feels like certain media outlets have it out for him. The way they were talking about Daniel would have you believe that Aussies don't like him anymore, which I'm glad to now know is not the reality. I guess, the Aussie media just have caught on that Daniel bashing gets the click 🤷🏽‍♀️
The other thing that irks me about people belittling what he does off-track is that people refuse to acknowledge the impact he has had on the sports. I very often see comments along the line that dts misleads people into thinking Daniel is more successful than he actually is, which, yes - he is not a world champion and has had a few tough years. But people refuse to acknowledge that without him, that first season of dts wouldn't have been anywhere close to the success it ended being. That without Daniel, this influx of new fans, attention and investment wouldn't be possible and that very often, it's probably not him who goes off looking for those off-track opportunities but they come to him because people want to have his name associated to their projects.

oh man, i didn't even think of the younger fans joining in.
stay safe out there kids, and remember to block very liberally and filter tags! (also, make sure to filter when looking for fanfic, too!)
this has been a psa by the weird dude who just drops by in the fandom occasionally to grumble, say the weirdest thing he can, and then leave for a few months to a year again.
also, if you don't mind me asking, what was the IG situation?
Exactly! Block tags and filter with abandon, you don't need to reach a certain threshold to do so and it's not a last resort. Sometimes my mutuals will get a new interest and I get sick of seeing show gifs on my dash and so I block it! Nothing special. Stay safe and curate your experience!
As for the IG situation, for those of you new or unaware I'm about to learn you some keepblr history right here. And emphasize why it's important to communicate with people directly and why you should block tags you don't like. (sizable explanation ahead)
A few months ago the infamous post about how the Neverseen uniform under the cloak is never described--and therefore they could be wearing hot pink leotards and stripper heels, with tutus for the minors--reached a note milestone (500), so in celebration we brought it back and there was an influx of art of Fintan in said uniform. S has a bunch collected here.
Someone on tumblr then went to an anonymous IG keeper confessions account (which has since been deleted) and submitted a confession talking about how the tumblr fandom was strange, making stripper Fintan art, and how it was making them uncomfortable. This was the first any of us had heard of it, as they hadn't said anything to us to try and work it out. (I don't hold it against them for being uncomfortable, but I don't think this is the way to deal with it)
If you know anything about confession accounts, you can imagine what broke out, which was made worse by an already existing rivalry/bias against the IG fandom. The IG fandom with no context reacted like the tumblr fandom was weird and disgusting for our joke, and the tumblr fandom handled it...unhelpfully? Listen, I love being here but full honesty I think the majority of the response made the situation worse and it was incredibly frustrating to watch. The tumblr fandom made the IG fandom into part of the joke, about how it was all allocishet white people who love heterosexuality and just couldn't handle tumblr. It became a joke to come up with what would kill a keepstagrammer (not actual killing, but kill in the sense of sprite killing Prince Phillip), like a particular queer ship or headcanon.
The IG fandom, understandably, did not like this and found it insulting. Which only worsened how they thought of and spoke of the tumblr fandom. They said there were many poc on IG, that the point is that keeper is a children's series and it's gross to make nsfw jokes--and again, this is all through a confessions account. There are a few accounts that if you look through their archive, you can find screenshots.
Since it was all through confessions and no one was actually talking to each other, making it all worse because we're literally on separate social medias and each side was only getting what someone chose to share (e.g., only certain screenshots, only certain links to tumblr posts), I reached out and spoke to the most outspoken person on IG (she had been commenting on everything and posting about it herself). We had a conversation where we respectfully explained our positions and cleared some confusion (like how tumblr works, how you can block tags to avoid content you don't like, how old the tumblr fandom is, how old you have to be to join, etc.) That resulted in this post of mine where I explained the other side alongside our own, as I didn't think anyone else had done so. Their position boiled down to kids (young teens) can find this and it can make them uncomfortable, so they wanted to depend them, and they'd had recent discourse tumblr was unaware of that made them react stronger. The person on IG also made a story post talking about it.
Afterwards, there were some more serious posts about the issue on our side, sympathetic to people uncomfortable while still affirming that it's not our responsibility to curate others online experience.
Things were calm for a day or two, but then because of the way confession accounts work, confessions from before the other person and I had spoken were posted, and that delay ignited things again. So then rinse and repeat, but less intensely. I reached out and spoke to people again (I talk about me reaching out because I don't know who, if anyone, else did). More clarification posts were made, I offered my tumblr as a direct contact for IG people who wanted to talk.
Things started to calm again, but there wasn't really a final conclusion or resolution, as the confessions account hosting all this was deleted before that could happen. I'm not sure why, as I spoke directly with that person prior and she said she wanted to continue giving people a space to talk, even if it was overwhelming. But that's where we're at.
This was back in August, and it hasn't been brought up since. But it wasn't fun for anyone involved and was deeply distressing, which is why I emphasize to talk to us if you have an issue with something. We want to help! We want you to enjoy being here and online! We will do what we can, but that will only work if you do your part, too. That means unfollow or block people posting stuff you don't like, block tags for content you don't want to see. Discourse incidents like this can be avoided.
But that was the IG incident, so now you know! I'm sure you can find a lot more, but this is the gist of how it played out--at least from my perspective. This is how I saw and experienced it, but I'm one person. But if anyone has further questions or wants to know anything, I can do my best to explain!

Livestream Recap Tuesday, 27 Feb
-said he was in a crappy mood because of Cody being up his ass in his apartment and calling pharmacies
-had a lot of work stuff coming up, got humbled/his ass kicked at Sean’s gym. Said the training session was brutal
-said he’s not sure what he was thinking because he’s only done like 10 MMA classes and thinks he’s going to do a pro fight
-pretended to meditate (like back when he was with Georgie) then said “remember when we were in that relationship where I was being manipulated” - very strange comment to make since WE weren’t in a relationship together and HE wasn’t in a relationship with Georgie either
-said he’s done skydiving forever because of that hematoma he got last time, still has a lump from it
-knows it’s hard to keep up with his phases of what he’s into
-thinks Kyle was inspired to run the upcoming LA marathon because of Jeff running the NY one but Kyle hasn’t officially said that 🙄
-had a body scan (he showed on his Snaps) and said he’s in perfect health
-got that blue box chocolate PR box from Mr. Beast. It’s lit up so there was a black battery pack in the box. Cody being the moron he is said that it was a listening device and Jeff started getting paranoid. I thought he was joking but if you watched him in the H3 stream he mentioned it there again and seemed like he actually believed it.
-said he has a funny dating story that he’s waiting to share in live shows. A tour will be in the future. (He’s been saying this since fall 2021 guys. He’s lost a huge chunk of his supporters he had when Patreon started. The new influx of viewers he has now are Tana fans and probably wouldn’t pay to see his live show. I don’t think a live show will happen soon despite him saying it will. They’ve been spending Mondays as writing days for a live show though)
-said the latest meme on IG is true (it shows Jeff in bed with a girl and Cody in between them because he’s always around). Cody liked the meme but then seemed actually bothered by it on the live. He’s such a wimp.
-they both were sent Brooks running shoes after he whined about Cody Ko being sponsored for the NY Marathon (maybe because Cody is actually an athlete and focused on that)
-to Cody: “I gotta find a girlfriend eventually so you’ll have to find your own way”
-is proud of his niece with her bjj classes
-closed the pod room door and said they boys “lost” another pod episode while he was in AZ with Suga Sean. Handled it better but was annoyed. When the Bruce thing happened he asked Casey Neistat and his parents for advice
-someone asked if he feels like he’s his authentic self around his friends and Jeff of course said yes, around strangers too. 🙄
-Oscar said they could do an AI episode of the Bruce pod because I guess he has the audio and screenshots? Jeff sounded like he wants to do that but who knows with them
-said he used to be aggressive when they filmed the barbershop episodes but he’s gotten soft. Said it seems like he had more fun back then
-said he saw some clip of Tana and Brooke saying that Jeff is too hot and they couldn’t date him or something. He spoke in a weird voice and said he’d “get them” the next time they were on the show (he was joking and acting like they had said something offensive)
-there were issues with the live and it only worked on laptops but no phones so he was saying he will make a YouTube membership like H3 and move all previous Patreon vids over there. Then at the end he said he’d think about doing that so he doesn’t know what he’s doing, as usual.
-there will be a merch drop soon
-he said “consistency is key” which made me laugh because would any of us use consistent as a word to describe Jeff at all? Definitely not
-someone asked for advice about a long distance relationship but he’s never been in one so had no advice to give.
-said Cierra was gone to film a movie where she had to kiss a guy. He trusted her but it bothered him - but him acting like he’s sleeping with Tana shouldn’t bother a new girlfriend right? 🙄
-said he remembers the Australian girl and Morgan from the Bachelor but no one else
-I guess one of the girls is in law school and he said one of them would have to make a sacrifice to be close to the other and is wouldn’t be her if she’s in school - why he’s pretending like he’s move his entire life for a random girl he meets on this dumb dating show is so stupid
-some new girl asked what he likes to do in the bedroom and he said he’s not going to answer that - wtf is wrong with these new weirdo fans?
-said his life is so hard and he works so much - the lies he tells omg
-he got an infection in his mouth from cutting himself from his water pic, thought it was something worse
-someone said Cody is rotting Jeff’s brain and Jeff agreed
-asked if he’d put his kids on social media and said he’s not sure. His partner has a day in that so they’d have to decide - didn’t he say in the first Bachelor episode that the wife will have zero say in naming them and that he would only get to do that? I hope he was kidding but his change of tone was interesting.
-said he’s going to Miami for Suga Sean’s fight, I wonder if he’ll hang out with Mike and Sara? Last we saw Sara was pissed at Jeff and hasn’t been around him since. Will Mike choose her and Jeff be with other people?
Thanks!!

One of the less talked about consequences about the negative reception of Book of boba Fett: Not a whole lotta influx of Boba x Reader fic. Like, there’s still some coming through, but not nearly as much as most fandoms with successful or well-received seasons or character growth would. There’s been a definite hike in Din fic, though. And more power to that ig but?? *insert image of George Costanza in the hospital bed, going “This was supposed to be the bountiful harvest of Boba fic crops”*
Of course this is probably just me, but that’s sorta how it’s been feeling lately…
I wouldn’t necessarily call it a consequence. The consequences deal more with Disney continuing to jutsify their racist decisions and continuing to keep POC on the sidelines.
But for sure, the lack of fics have been a let down. As a writer, I know my motivation has been lacking when it comes to TBOBF. Part of me wants to write a fix-it fic (tbh one of my WIPs is slowly morphing into a fix-it fic), but the other part of me is jaded. We were so close to having this beautiful, well-thought and intricate story. Episode 2 is right there, and then it just fell flat. Nobody is writing fix-it fics for Disney’s favorite child, The Mandalorian. Why couldn’t that happen for TBOBF? The hike in Din fics isn’t surprising considering how much better his episodes were. They gave much more substance and ideas to Din's storyline than they did to Boba's.
Idk this is all over the place. Bottom line is I'm still upset about how the show turned out. There was more of a resurgence of Boba fics after Boba's return in the Mandalorian, but that also had to do with an increase in new fans. I think there are a lot of factors, but one of the main ones is Disney just didn't give a flying fuck about TBOBF.

Tbh you guys are a bit overdramatic... A lot of celebs don't really use social media, and their fans don't act like they are being "hold on leash"..
Anon, a lot of celebs aren't Louis. Once again and for the umpteenth time: it's about context.
Unlike other artists - and for the record there is a difference as well between actors, for instance, and music artists - Louis has a history of being erased as an artist and having his music career sidelined. Other artists who don't really use social media normally get playlisting and radio play for their songs, and good press, performances, interviews... that promote their work and keep them visible and credible and help them reach people as artists. Louis has none of those things.
Louis was finally papped in front of the studio - for the first time after years of solo career - and the couple tabloid articles didn't even include the word 'studio.'
Nothing is done to attract new audiences. The festival got a footnote mention in NME with a mispelling after tickets were no longer available. Billboard can write about a hypothetical management company, but not Louis' livestream accomplishment in December or this cool, free festival now. But it's all fine. According to Simon Jones' blogger pal why would fans - or Louis - want more than for him to get a write up on her blog and a fansite?
And anyone who happened to check him out at any point... what would they find? Googling him is a nightmare when so much is about his personal life and so little about his music. And his social media? For reference, consider Niall's IG before and after his own livestream concert. Louis' went four months inactive afterwards. Why? What is the possible justification for that?
It's not good for fandom either - Louis has a devoted fanbase, but it's one that has a real issue with internal fighting - which is exacerbated by a lack of focus on him and his music and a shortage of relevant content. And people who get tired of drama and bored often leave. Seemingly there was an influx of fans in 2020, but we need to consider the demographics of these, and that there has also been loss - that could have been avoided.
No one is asking for anything extraordinary or unreasonable. It's insane to me how low the standard and what has become normalised when it comes to Louis and his career over the years. In general. Of course, the less you expect for him the more the people who get paid to maintain and grow his career are excused and their mismanagement and mistreatment covered up. Because this isn't a matter of 'Louis doesn't feel like it or is too busy to post' either - he has a team of professionals that get paid to engage his fanbase and an audience for his music; who are supposed to be invested in his career, because that is their job and their professional reputation, theoretically, and yet... do nothing.
How can it be good practice to leave an excited, eager fanbase to languish for weeks when it would be so simple to post something for them to engage with? This is Louis' BIG project planned for over 12 months. Sure it's the 18th, but still... and seeing how it was with the livestream...
How is it normal that in eight months, and Louis recording since at least May, there's one single picture of him in the studio on his IG, and it's only a couple other songwriters or producers posting. [You don't have to reveal anything concrete to tease music! Every other artist - and their teams - manage?] IG stories of a studio or the sea from other people that reach only the most dedicated fans is... not building up to a music release. And fans of Louis follow Louis. It's not normal or good for fans to have to stalk everyone around him to be remotely abreast of his career. And what kind of argument is it that he simply doesn't wish to show his face or post anything related to his music because he's private, when he's then seen with stalkers, or exclusively on his girlfriend's IG in private settings!? How that, rather than be seen on his terms as an artist - which is how he wants to be known - and an individual, outside of his personal relationships, as any person should be?
I always hope we are being overdramatic, anon.
